    sometimes, my boss will complain us why we need so long time to implement a feature, actually, the feature has been implemented in other AP before, you just need to copy and paste codes from there. The cost should be low. It's really a hard question, because copy and paste codes is not a easy thing from my point. Do you have any good reason to explain your boss who doesn't know technology?

    Looking at some code examples for HtmlHelpers, and I see declarations that look like: public static string HelperName(this HtmlHelper htmlHelper, ...more regular params ) I can't remember seeing this type of construct any where else - can someone explain the purpose of the "this"? I thought that by declaring something public static meant that the class did not need to be instantiated - so what is "this" in this case?

  • Will MySql caching cause performance problems?

    I am about to upload my website onto a VPS. It is a classifieds website, where all data is stored in MySql and Solr. I wonder if when using MySql:s cache, the server will slow down? Ie, if somebody makes a search for the first time, and MySql is to cache the query, will the caching make the server slower than if it would not cache anything? After the caching is done I know things will improve in terms of performance... But I would like to know if I should even use the cache or not, what do you think? Thanks

    I want to be able to parse file paths like this one: /var/www/index.(htm|html|php|shtml) into an ordered array: array("htm", "html", "php", "shtml") and then produce a list of alternatives: /var/www/index.htm /var/www/index.html /var/www/index.php /var/www/index.shtml Right now, I have a preg_match statement that can split two alternatives: preg_match_all ("/\(([^)]*)\|([^)]*)\)/", $path_resource, $matches); Could somebody give me a pointer how to extend this to accept an unlimited number of alternatives (at least two)? Just regarding the regular expression, the rest I can deal with. The rule is: The list needs to start with a ( and close with a ) There must be one | in the list (i.e. at least two alternatives) Any other occurrence(s) of ( or ) are to remain untouched.

  • Inserting a line break from a variable objective c

    I am pulling data into my iphone application using xml. The xml value is then placed in a variable. example variable: 123 London road \n London \n England The variable is then set as a label. I want the line breaks to appear in the label, instead it is printing \n. If i manually set the label value locationLabel.text = @"123 London road \n London \n England" It works as i want it to. Can anyone explain this?

It says add this part to app.yaml builtins: - remote_api: on ok i have added. Then says that i have to execute this command appcfg.py update but i don't have any appcfg.py file. And also what is the command which executes this line? Please somebody tell me what i am missing I use AppEngineLauncher to upload my project to server..     Hi, My current target is to give users the chance to download CSV files from the admin site of my application. I successfully managed to create an additional column in the model's list view this way: def doc_link(self): return '<a href="files/%s">%s</a>' % (self.output, self.output) doc_link.allow_tags = True This shows the file name and creates the link, but sadly - because it's inside my 'searches' view - it has an URL: my_site/my_app/searches/files/13.csv. This is my problem, I would like to have my files stored in the admin media directory, like this: http://my_site/media/files/13.csv Does somebody know how to give url which points "outer" from the model's directory? Maybe somehow tell Django to use the ADMIN_MEDIA_PREFIX in the link? I'd really appreciate any help, thanks!

  • Classes. Whats the point?

    I'm fairly new to OOP in PHP, I've made a couple of basic scripts but nothing impressive. All I've really taken from it is that it would probably be easier just make a collection of functions and include them. The structure of classes seems to just confuse what was otherwise a simple process. And in collating everything into a class it doesn't really add any functionality. So I'm clearly missing something. Could someone explain what functionality is added by creating classes
