• How to search and replace an unprintable character

  I've a file that was exported from Word and it replaced all quotes with strange unicode characters which aren't correctly displayed in vim. So now I want those characters to be replaced with quotes, but I don't know how to enter this character in :%s/???/'/g The characters look like this: ~U ~R. But of course I can't just mark them with mouse and paste in the command.

• SVN tags: How not to update/checkout them?

  In many projects, I check out the complete repository and have then the standard directory structure: project/ branches/ tags/ trunk/ If I do an svn up project, it's all fine with the branches and trunk folders, but, of course, the tags folder is updated, too, and filled with (mostly) lots of tagged versions that are of no value for my work and only occupy disk space. How can I except the tags folder from an svn update? Especially, how can I do this locally only, that is, without committing that back to the repository, as a solution with the svn:ignore keyword would do?

  I need NSRange objects for the position of each uppercase letter in a given NSString for input into a method for a custom attributed string class.  There are of course quite a few ways to accomplish this such as rangeOfString:options: with NSRegularExpressionSearch or using RegexKitLite to get each match separately while walking the string.  What would be the fastest performing approach to accomplish this task?

• Can Capistrano set variables based on a role?

  I am trying to use Capistrano to deploy to two different roles, using Bundler on both, however the Bundler command and flags will be different. Is it possible to set variables that are specific to a role? Either something like: set :bundle_flags, "--deployment --quiet", :role => "web" or: role :web do set :bundler_cmd, "--deployment --quiet" end Neither of those two options work, of course. Is there a way to accomplish this, or something like it?

  Hey guys, I'd like to create a toggle event for 2 different TD's in my table row. the event should show / hide the next table row. <table> <tr> <td>1</td> <td>2</td> <td>3</td> <td>4</td> <td>5</td> <td class="clickable1">6</td> <td class="clickable2">7</td> </tr> <tr><td>this row should be toggled between show/hide once one of the clickable TDs were clicked</td></tr> </table> here's the code i tried to apply but it has applied each one of the classes the event: $('.clickable1,.clickable2').toggle(function() { $(this).parent() .next('tr') .show(); }, function() { $(this).parent() .next('tr') .hide(); }); One more thing: i'm applying on each TR a css hover psuedo class. how can i make the two TRs to be highlighted (like hover effect on two of them) ?   Is it possible to not clear entire screen when using glClear() function? I need to clear only a part of the screen to save some rendering time, otherwise i would have to redraw half of the screen every frame, even if nothing is happening on the other half.   I would like a web interface for a user to describe a one-dimensional real-valued function. I'm imagining the user being presented with a blank pair of axes and they can click anywhere to create points that are thick and draggable. Double-clicking a point, let's say, makes it disappear. The actual function should be shown in real time as an interpolation of the user-supplied points.   I am trying to show a .tif image in matlab and I use these two line of codes a = imread('C:\Users\sepideh\Desktop\21_15.tif'); imshow(a) that encounters this warning Warning: Image is too big to fit on screen; displaying at 3% In imuitools\private\initSize at 73 In imshow at 262 what is the cause of this warning and what can I do to fix that? the main trouble is it sometimes doesn't show the image and of course even if it shows the image CPU usage gets high that I can't zoom properly

• Dll resources in resource editor: Where do they come from?

  Hi, I have a small C++ dll which was written in Visual Studio (of course). In the solution code, I have a resource file that includes only version information. The strange dact is, that when I frag the compiled dll to Visual Studio, it opens a resource viewer with bitmaps, dialogs and a string table - where do all of them come from??   I want to pass the sessionID as a json parameter, I can see how to override SessionIDManager and such, but this just covers custom creation/validation of sessionID's as opposed to where it actually gets the sessionID from. There is of course 'cookieless' which puts it in the url, but that doesn't work for me either. So i'd like to override the session handling so I can specify where it should look for the sessionID.

  I have to create a bunch of these "Share this on" Technorati, Digg, Facebook, Reddit, del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, MySpace and so on. It is very easy to find online icons for this task, but it is a little more difficult to find what URLs I should link. Is there any updated list of all these services? Of course I could copy them from other sites having this, but I am not sure they are updated, and moreover maybe there is some GET parameter I want to set differently.
