• Box with multiple borders

  Hello, I am trying to code and style a box which will contain a post. My problem is with multiple borders (i guess), trying to find the best way to code this, i prefer semantic HTML5 and CSS3, but if there is no other way, i can do "old style" with 3 divs (top, center, bottom) with css background: url..., can anyone give me some lights please? • Read OAuth2.0 Signed_Request Facebook Registration C# MVC

  My question is very similar this but I guess I need to take it one step further. Facebook says "The data is passed to your application as a signed request. The signed_request parameter is a simple way to make sure that the data you're receiving is the actual data sent by Facebook." After a user has logged into my asp c# MVC site and clicked "Register", the redirect-url is http://site/account/register. At that point (the post to the account/register control), I would like to gather the user's information using the signed request so that I can register them with my site locally. I cannot figure out how to access the data facebook makes available. $data = json_decode(base64_url_decode($payload), true); What is the equivalent in C#? What type of variable/data is facebook passing in the post? And how do I access "$payload"?

  Hi, The following example of using the sendMail method provided by the grails mail plugin appears in this book. sendMail { to "[email protected]" subject "Registration Complete" body view:"/foo/bar", model:[user:new User()] } I understand that the code within {} is a closure that is passed to sendMail as a parameter. I also understand that to, subject and body are method calls. I'm trying to figure out what the code that implements the sendMail method would look like, and my best guess is something like this: MailService { String subject String recipient String view def model sendMail(closure) { closure.call() // Code to send the mail now that all the // various properties have been set } to(recipient) { this.recipient = recipient } subject(subject) { this.subject = subject; } body(view, model) { this.view = view this.model = model } } Is this reasonable, or am I missing something? • What is more interesting or powerful: Curry/Mercury/Lambda-Prolog/your suggestion.

  Hi! I would like to ask you about what formal system could be more interesting to implement from scratch/reverse engineer. I've looked through some existing and rather open (open in the sense of free/open-source) projects of logical/declarative programming systems. I've decided to make up something similar in my free time, or at least to catch the general idea of implementation. It would be great if some of these systems would provide most of the expressive power and conciseness of modern academic investigations in logic and it's relation with computational models. What would you recommend to study at least at the conceptual level? For example, Lambda-Prolog is interesting particularly because it allows for higher order relations, but AFAIK (I might really be mistaken :)) is based on intuitionist logic and therefore lack the excluded-middle principle; that's generally a disatvantage for me.. I would also welcome any suggestions about modern logical programming systems which are less popular but more expressive/powerful. I guess, this question will need refactoring, but thank you in advance! :)

• Changing <img src="XXX" />, js event when new image has finished loading?

  I have a photo gallery web page where a single <img src="XXX" /> element's src is changed (on a click) with javascript to show the next image—a poor man's ajax I guess. Works great on faster connections when the new image appears almost immediately. Even if it takes a few seconds to load, every browser I've tested it on keeps the old image in place until the new one is completely loaded. It's a little confusing waiting those few seconds on a slow connection, though, and I'm wondering if there's some javascript event that fires when the new image is done loading, allowing me to put a little working... animated gif or something up in the meantime. I know I could use AJAX for real (I'm using jQuery already), but this is such a nice and simple solution. Besides this lag, is there any other reason I should stay away from this approach to changing images? thanks.

• Does mod_rewrite in subdirectories' .htaccess override higher levels?

  I'm using mod_rewrite to map my old directory structure to a new one. I have the following rule in my top-level .htaccess file, and it works: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /blog/archives/(.*) RewriteRule ^.*$ /archives/%1 [L,R=301] As you can guess, this takes http://example.com/blog/archives/00001.php and redirects it to http://example.com/archives/00001.php. But when I add these rewrite rules to the .htaccess file in the /blog directory RewriteEngine on RewriteRule atom.xml$ /atom.xml [L,R=301] the top-level redirect no longer works. If I move the rule in the /blog .htaccess file to the top-levle file both rules work. Can someone explain what is happening here?

• Need help getting Suspend to work in Ubuntu on laptop

  I've been doing a lot of research, but I've got to admit right out front that I'm not even sure exactly what is the right question. I've installed Kubuntu 10.4 on a Panasonic Toughbook CF-29. When I try to uses "suspend", the screen flickers, and then the hard drive light goes off but the power light stays on. I looked at the /var/log/pm-suspend.log, but I don't seen any errors... though I'm not sure what success should look like either. So I guess my real question is a bit more accurately stated as "How do I troubleshoot suspend not working in Kubuntu on a laptop?" Thanks, Aerik

  This is a bit of a strange one but I've just seen something on twitter which kind of baffled me and I'm interested to know more. Rob Conery tweeted the following a couple of hours ago: Class name of the day: "Maybe<T>". Method of the day: "ToMaybe<T>()". He then went on to offer a Tekpub coupon to anyone who could guess where it came from. He linked to a further tweet which had a clue and from that I worked out that it was Entity Framework Code-Only but while trying to determine the usage someone else answered to which Rob replied ...EF CodeOnly - dealing with uncertainty.... So my question boils down to what exactly is he referring to with uncertainty and how does this fit in to Entity Framework Code-Only?

• gcc, UTF-8 and limits.h

  My OS is Debian, my default locale is UTF-8 and my compiler is gcc. By default CHAR_BIT in limits.h is 8 which is ok for ASCII because in ASCII 1 char = 8 bits. But since I am using UTF-8, chars can be up to 32 bits which contradicts the CHAR_BIT default value of 8. If I modify CHAR_BIT to 32 in limits.h to better suit UTF-8, what do I have to do in order for this new value to come into effect ? I guess I have to recompile gcc ? Do I have to recompile the linux kernel ? What about the default installed Debian packages, will they work ?

• How do I get a linq to sql group by query into the asp.net mvc view?

  Sorry for the newbie question, but I have the following query that groups parking spaces by their garage, but I can't figure out how to iterate the data in the view. I guess I should strongly type the view but am a newbie and having lots of problems figuring this out. Any help would be appreciated. If yes, then $matches should contain parts of string above, if not (as I guess) it should contain four zero-length arrays. something is wrong, but I can't find, what actually is?

• VC++ 2010 wants to link boost libararies i didn't even specify

  Hi there, I'm trying to build my application with MSVC 2010 instead of GCC. With GCC everything works fine. My app uses boost_system and boost_thread libraries. I built boost with VC2010 in "system" layout, that means the libraries are named just libboost_system.lib (and not libboost_system_compiler_threading_version_wtf_snafu.lib) The libs reside in C:\Boost\lib, the Makefile specifies LFLAGS = /NOLOGO /INCREMENTAL:NO /SUBSYSTEM:CONSOLE LIBS = /LIBPATH:C:/Boost/lib libboost_system.lib libboost_thread.lib Ws2_32.lib when invoking nmake it compiles, but when trying to link it quits with LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'libboost_date_time-vc100-mt-1_43.lib I mean seriously, WTF? I told it to link libboost_systen.lib and libboost_thread.lib how come it tries to link libboost_data_time and why does it assume I built the libs in "tagged" layout?? How can I stop MSVC trying to be smart and guess what I might have wanted to link? Thanks, Philipp

• Adding WCF service reference adds DataContract types too

  Hi everybody, I've used Visual Studio's Add Service Reference feature to add a service (actually it is a workflow service, created in WF4 RC1, but I don't think this makes any difference), and it also added the DataContracts that the service uses. At first this seemed fine, because All I've had in the DataContracts was simply properties, with no implementations. But now I've added code in the constructor of one data contracts that initializes creates an instance of one of the properties that exposes a list of other DCs, and when I've updated the service reference via VS (2010 RC1), the implementation was not updated. What should I do? Should I use my DCs instead of the ones created by VS or should I use the ones VS created? I've noticed that the properties in the VS-generated DCs contain some additional logic for checking equality in the setters and they also implement some interfaces too (like IExtensibleDataObject and INotifyPropertyChanged) which might get handy I guess in the future (I'm not knowledgeable at WCF). • Writing asynchronously on a stream in cocoa

  Hi folks I have been trying to find any way for writing asynchronously on a stream in Cocoa. I have a set of events in my applications which will try to send data through the socket but i can't be blocked during this transmission due to design terms. I have tried setting a delegate on the output stream and check the event NSStreamEventHasSpaceAvailable but I don't know how this can be combined with the events that put data into the stream. Is there anyway for doing that? I thought using NSThread but I guess there is a better option. Cheers

• Initiate a PHP class where class name is a variable

  I need some help with an error I have not encountered before and can't seem to find anywhere. In a PHP mvc framework (just from a tutorial) I have the following: // Initiate the class $className = 'Controller_' . ucfirst($controller); if (class_exists($className)) { $controller = new $className($this->registry); } $className is showing the correct class name (case is also correct). But when I run it I get this in the apache error log (no php error) [Wed Mar 31 10:34:12 2010] [notice] child pid 987 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) Process id is different on every call. I am running PHP 5.3.0 on os x 10.6. This site seems to work on 5.2.11 on another Mac. Not really sure where to go next to debug it. I guess it could be an apache setting as much as a php bug or a problem with the code... any suggestions on where to look next?

  Hi all, I'm using the PhysX SDK and I'm trying to load an .obj file with the WavefrontObj object which is defined by the files "wavefront.h/.cpp", localized in the samples directory. • Safari extension cookies not recognized/passed

  I've recently been porting a Chrome extension to Safari, and encountered this kind of error (bug, feature, etc.) So, in global page i have a XMLHTTP request to a secure page which is available only after you login. Example: I simply login using browser - as usually you do on facebook or other secure pages After that, in global page, I load a login-only-available xmlhttp - and it says i'm not logged in it seems that global page somewhat has it's own cookies, so a secure page thinks i'm new ps: in Chrome i can load that page and it thinks i'm acting on behalf of logged in user, so i guess there are some restrictions in Safari pps: i heard there's a Block third-party cookies option in Safari, but even if i checked it to "Never block" it still doesn't work

• How to generate makefile targets from variables?

  I currently have a makefile to process some data. The makefile gets the inputs to the data processing by sourcing a CONFIG file, which defines the input data in a variable. Currently, I symlink the input files to a local directory, i.e. the makefile contains: tmp/%.txt: tmp ln -fs $(shell echo $(INPUTS) | tr ' ' '\n' | grep $(patsubst tmp/%,%,$@)) $@ This is not terribly elegant, but appears to work. Is there a better way? Basically, given INPUTS = /foo/bar.txt /zot/snarf.txt I would like to be able to have e.g. %.out: %.txt some command As well as targets to merge results depending on all $(INPUT) files. Also, apart from the kludgosity, the makefile doesn't work correctly with -j, something that is crucial for the analysis to complete in reasonable time. I guess that's a bug in GNU make, but any hints welcome.

• SDL_ttf and Numbers (int)

  int score = 0; char* fixedscore=(char*)score; . . . imgTxt = TTF_RenderText_Solid( font, fixedscore, fColor ); ^^ This doesn't work - looks like fixedscore is empty or doesn't exists. int score = 0; char* fixedscore=(char*)score; . . . imgTxt = TTF_RenderText_Solid( font, "Works fine", fColor ); ^^ Works fine, but... I guess converting int to char* doesn't really work. So how do you print scores in SDL? Oh and one more thing: why is the text so ugly? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  I have a feature in my web app like I have to send mails from the server to many email ids (some kind of notification stuff) my web application is implemented in struts2. Possibly I have to use javamail api i guess. I am completely new to this javamail and sending mail from server. what basic steps I need to do to setup a mail server in windows, contact the server from my java web app. What api i should I use ? The web has very limited tutorials on javamail and they are damn complicated too. Is there any other api other than javamail by which I can send mail from my java struts2 web app. thanks

• Audio processing in C# or C++

  Hi, I would like to create an application that uses AI techniques and allows the user to record a part of a song and then tries to find that song in a database of wav files. I would have liked to use some already existing libraries for the audio processing part. So, could you recommend any libraries in C# which can read a wav file, get input from microphone, have some audio filters (low pass, high pass, FFT etc) and maybe have the ability to plot the audio signal as well. I would prefer to develop in C#, but if there aren't good libraries for audio processing, I guess I could work in C++ as well. As far as I know, Mathlab already has the above mentioned functionalities, but I can't use it in my application.

• Django multiple generic_inline_formset in a view

  We have a bunch of formsets: EmailAddressInlineFormSet = generic_inlineformset_factory( EmailAddress, extra=1, exclude=["created_by","last_modified_by"]) emailaddressformset = EmailAddressInlineFormSet( instance=person, prefix="emailaddress") # [ more definitions ] and, in the view, we process them as: emailaddressformset = EmailAddressInlineFormSet( request.POST, instance=person, prefix="emailaddress") # [ more definitions ] So, nothing fancy or unordinary. The unfortunate or unordinary fact is, we have 15 of these formsets, one for email addresses, other for phone numbers etc. so the view code is ugly and not-so-manageable. What would be the most unhackish way to handle this number of formsets in a single view? At the end -i guess- I'm looking for a class or a functionality like multiple_generic_inline_formset and open to all kind of suggestions or discussions.
