  • Hosting an NServiceBus subscriber in the same application as the producer.

    - by Jack Ryan
    Is it possible to use NServiceBus to publish and consume messages in the same application, specifically a web application? In the future we will almost certainly need to maintain a separate long running service to process messages generated by this application, and this is why we are hoping to use NServiceBus from the start, but right now it would be nice to just start up the consumer and the publisher when the web application starts. This will make testing and deployment far easier for us. I presume I will need to reference the NServiceBus.Host.exe and start up the process in the global.asax, but need help on what exactly I need to call to do this.

  • MySQL - Conflicting WHERE and GROUP BY Statements

    - by TaylorPLM
    I have a query returning the counts of some data, but I do NOT want data that has a null value in it... As an example, the code rolls stats from a clicking system into a table. SELECT sh.dropid, ... FROM subscriberhistory sh INNER JOIN subscriberhistory sh2 on sh.subid = sh2.subid WHERE sh.dropid IS NOT NULL AND sh.dropid != "" ... GROUP BY sh.dropid An example of the record set returned would look like this... 400 2 3 4 5 6 401 2 3 6 5 4 NULL 2 3 4 5 1 There are some other where clauses, and a few more selects (as I said, using the count aggregate) that are also within the query. There is also an order by statement. Again, the goal is to keep the NULL data out of the preceding record set. Could someone explain to me why this behavior is occurring and what to do to solve it.

  • Flash Sprite looses focus on MOUSE_DOWN event

    - by John
    My Sprite class keeps losing focus when I click with the mouse - specifically after the MOUSE_DOWN event (before the click is complete). I have set mouseEnabled to false on the children, no change. I added a listener for FOCUS_OUT and noticed that the FocusEvent.relatedObject property is NULL, which is confusing me - doesn't that mean there is no new focus target, the focus is just getting lost? The exact sequence of events I get, by tracing them, as I click: [FocusEvent type="focusOut" bubbles=true cancelable=false eventPhase=2 relatedObject=null shiftKey=false keyCode=0] [MouseEvent type="mouseDown" bubbles=true cancelable=false eventPhase=2 localX=355 localY=362 stageX=360 stageY=367 relatedObject=null ctrlKey=false altKey=false shiftKey=false buttonDown=true delta=0]) [MouseEvent type="click" bubbles=true cancelable=false eventPhase=2 localX=355 localY=362 stageX=360 stageY=367 relatedObject=null ctrlKey=false altKey=false shiftKey=false buttonDown=false delta=0]

  • Mixing expressions and expression language (<%= %> inside of c:if)

    - by Jack
    I need to access some constants in my jsp, and sadly the EL does not offer any functionality for it. There are some options like the unstandard tag library, but I'd like to keep it a bit more standard. I tried: <%@ page import = "com.jackdane.Constants"%> <c:if test="${object.display == '<%=com.jackdane.Constants.YES %>}'"> //some display logic </c:if> But that doesn't appear to do the trick. It's been a while since I've used an expression so I might have made an error. Any input is appreciated. Edit: To clarify, the constants class is not in my control. It's inside a jar file that I recieved. It contains no getters/setters. Just private static final Strings.

  • Merging getComputedStyle and evaluate in Greasemonkey

    - by Keheliya Gallaba
    I need to get all the text nodes with a certain font-face in a page to an array. I tried.. textnodes = document.evaluate("//* [@style='font-family: foo;']//text()[" + "not(ancestor::script) and not(ancestor::style)]", document, null, XPathResult.UNORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE, null); and textnodes = document.evaluate("//* [@face='foo']//text()[" + "not(ancestor::script) and not(ancestor::style)]", document, null, XPathResult.UNORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE, null); But these does not work with pages that is styled by external CSS files. Seems getComputedStyle() is the way to go. I think what I need is something like.. var tags = document.getElementsByTagName('*'); for (var i in tags) { var style = getComputedStyle(tags[i], ''); if (style.fontFamily.match(/foo/i)) { textnodes.push(tags[i]); } } But text nodes were not returned in this method. Is there anyway I can use a hybrid of xpath evaluate() and getComputedStyle() or any other way to achieve this?

  • Multiple conditions with CASE statements

    - by Pavan Reddy
    I need to query some data. here is the query that i have constructed but which isn't workig fine for me. For this example I am using AdventureWorks database. SELECT * FROM [Purchasing].[Vendor] WHERE PurchasingWebServiceURL LIKE case // In this case I need all rows to be returned if @url is '' or 'ALL' or NULL when (@url IS null OR @url = '' OR @url = 'ALL') then ('''%'' AND PurchasingWebServiceURL IS NULL') //I need all records which are blank here including nulls when (@url = 'blank') then (''''' AND PurchasingWebServiceURL IS NULL' ) //n this condition I need all record which are not like a particular value when (@url = 'fail') then ('''%'' AND PurchasingWebServiceURL NOT LIKE ''%treyresearch%''' ) //Else Match the records which are `LIKE` the input value else '%' + @url + '%' end This is not working for me. How can I have multiple where condition clauses in the THEN of the the same CASE? How can I make this work?

  • rails db migration, undefined method `to_sym', cant figure out syntax

    - by oelbrenner
    the original migration looks like this: class CreateUsers true do |t| t.string :login, :limit = 40 t.string :name, :limit = 100, :default = '', :null = true t.string :email, :limit = 100 t.string :crypted_password, :limit = 40 t.string :salt, :limit = 40 t.string :remember_token, :limit = 40 t.datetime :remember_token_expires_at t.string :activation_code, :limit = 40 t.datetime :activated_at, :datetime t.string :state, :null = :no, :default = 'passive' t.datetime :deleted_at t.integer :occupation_id, :null = :yes t.datetime :paid_up_to_date, :date t.timestamps end and I am trying to change the default of "state" to be "active" instead of passive so my attempt at a migration looks like this: ( still learning.. be gentle ) class ChangeUserStateDefault < ActiveRecord::Migration def self.up change_column :users, :state, :null = :no, :default = 'active' end def self.down end end

  • JavaScript, jQuery, XML - if statement not executing for unknown reason

    - by Jack Roscoe
    Hi, I have a 'for' loop which extracts data from an XML document and adds it into some JavaScript objects, each time the loop executes I want it to run a certain function depending on the value of the attribute 'typ' which is being retrieved from the xml. Currently, the data from the XML is successfully being parsed, which is proven by the first 'alert' you can see which produces the correct value. However, neither of the 'alert' lines in the 'if' statement lower down are being executed and as a result I cannot test the 'ctyp3' function which is supposed to be called. Where have I gone wrong? for (j=0; j<arrayIds.length; j++) { $(xml).find("C[ID='" + arrayIds[j] + "']").each(function(){ // pass values questions[j] = { typ: $(this).attr('typ'), width: $(this).find("I").attr('wid'), height: $(this).find("I").attr('hei'), x: $(this).find("I").attr('x'), y: $(this).find("I").attr('x'), baC: $(this).find("I").attr('baC'), boC: $(this).find("I").attr('boC'), boW: $(this).find("I").attr('boW') } alert($(this).attr('typ')); if ($(this).attr('typ') == '3') { ctyp3(x,y,width,height,baC); alert('pass'); } else { // Add here alert('fail'); } }); }

  • recursively reverse linked list.

    - by Amanda
    I am implementing a function to recursively reverse a linked-list, but getting seg-fault. typedef struct _node { int data; struct _node *next; } Node, *NodeP; NodeP recursiveReverseList(NodeP first){ if(first == NULL) return NULL; if(first->next == NULL) return head; NodeP rest = recursiveReverseList(head->next); rest->next = first; first->next = NULL; return first; } Can you please help. P.S. The iterative version is working fine though. Its not homework. Just practicing C.

  • C/C++ usage of special CPU fetures

    - by b-gen-jack-o-neill
    Hi, I am curious, do new compilers use some extra features built into new CPUs such as MMX SSE,3DNow! and so? I mean, in original 8086 there was even no FPU, so compiler that old cannot even use it, but new compilers can, since FPU is part of every new CPU. So, does new compilers use new features of CPU? Or, it should be more right to ask, does new C/C++ standart library functions use new features? Thanks for answer.

  • Is this a safe way to release resources in Java?

    - by palto
    Usually when code needs some resource that needs to be released I see it done like this: InputStream in = null; try{ in = new FileInputStream("myfile.txt"); doSomethingWithStream(in); }finally{ if(in != null){ in.close(); } } What I don't like is that you have to initialize the variable to null and after that set it to another value and in the finally block check if the resource was initialized by checking if it is null. If it is not null, it needs to be released. I know I'm nitpicking, but I feel like this could be done cleaner. What I would like to do is this: InputStream in = new FileInputStream("myfile.txt"); try{ doSomethingWithStream(in); }finally{ in.close(); } To my eyes this looks almost as safe as the previous one. If resource initialization fails and it throws an exception, there's nothing to be done(since I didn't get the resource) so it doesn't have to be inside the try block. The only thing I'm worried is if there is some way(I'm not Java certified) that an exception or error can be thrown between operations? Even simpler example: Inputstream in = new FileInputStream("myfile.txt"); in.close(); Is there any way the stream would be left open that a try-finally block would prevent?

  • Is it possible to auto update only selected properties on an existent entity object without touching the others

    - by LaserBeak
    Say I have a bunch of boolean properties on my entity class public bool isActive etc. Values which will be manipulated by setting check boxes in a web application. I will ONLY be posting back the one changed name/value pair and the primary key at a time, say { isActive : true , NewsPageID: 34 } and the default model binder will create a NewsPage object with only those two properties set. Now if I run the below code it will not only update the values for the properties that have been set on the NewsPage object created by the model binder but of course also attempt to null all the other non set values for the existent entity object because they are not set on NewsPage object created by the model binder. Is it possible to somehow tell entity framework not to look at the properties that are set to null and attempt to persist those changes back to the retrieved entity object and hence database ? Perhaps there's some code I can write that will only utilize the non-null values and their property names on the NewsPage object created by model binder and only attempt to update those particular properties ? [HttpPost] public PartialViewResult SaveNews(NewsPage Np) { Np.ModifyDate = DateTime.Now; _db.NewsPages.Attach(Np); _db.ObjectStateManager.ChangeObjectState(Np, System.Data.EntityState.Modified); _db.SaveChanges(); _db.Dispose(); return PartialView("MonthNewsData"); } I can of course do something like below, but I have a feeling it's not the optimal solution. Especially considering that I have like 6 boolean properties that I need to set. [HttpPost] public PartialViewResult SaveNews(int NewsPageID, bool isActive, bool isOnFrontPage) { if (isActive != null) { //Get entity and update this property } if (isOnFontPage != null) { //Get entity and update this property } }

  • jQuery toggle div and text

    - by Jack
    I would like some help with this code, I have read similar questions & answers here on stackoverflow but I still can't get it right. I have a link that populated by .html("") to read more… when clicked it opens the hidden div and at the end the .html("") reads less. When I click close the div slides closed but the text still reads less… I have read many articles on how to do this but am confused and can't get past this last hurdle, any help would be much appreciated. // this is the intro div Ligula suspendisse nulla pretium, rhoncus tempor placerat fermentum, enim integer ad vestibulum volutpat. • How to get a nicely formatted PHP Web Service response?

How do I go about getting the data in a formatted manner?

  • How do I test against a large number of regular expressions quickly and know which one matched?

    - by Jack
    I'm writing a program in .net where the user may provide a large number of regular expressions. For a given string, I need to figure out which regular expression matches that string (if more than one matches, I just need the first one that matches). However, if there are a large number of regular expressions this operation can take a very long time. I was somewhat hoping there would be something similar to flex for .net that would allow me to specify a large number of regular expressions yet quickly (O(n) according to Wikipedia for n = len(input string)) figure out which regular expression matches. Also, I would prefer not to implement my own regular expression engine :).

  • Using methods on 2 input files - 2nd is printing multiple times - Java

    - by Aaa
    I have the following code to read in text, store in a hashmap as bigrams (with other methods to sort them by frequency and do v. v. basic additive smoothing. I had it working great for one language input file (english) and then I want to expand it for the second language input file (japanese - doens;t matter what it is I suppose) using the same methods but the Japanese bigram hashmap is printing out 3 times in a row with diff. values. I've tried using diff text in the input file, making sure there are no gaps in text etc. I've also put print statements at certain places in the Japanese part of the code to see if I can get any clues but all the print statements are printing each time so I can't work out if it is looping at a certain place. I have gone through it with a fine toothcomb but am obviously missing something and slowly going crazy here - any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance... package languagerecognition2; import java.lang.String; import java.io.InputStreamReader; import java.util.*; import java.util.Iterator; import java.util.List.*; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.AbstractMap.*; import java.lang.Object; import java.io.*; import java.util.Enumeration; import java.util.Arrays; import java.lang.Math; public class Main { /** public static void main(String[] args) { //training English ----------------------------------------------------------------- File file = new File("english1.txt"); StringBuffer contents = new StringBuffer(); BufferedReader reader = null; try { reader = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(file)); String test = null; //test = reader.readLine(); // repeat until all lines are read while ((test = reader.readLine()) != null) { test = test.toLowerCase(); char[] charArrayEng = test.toCharArray(); HashMap<String, Integer> hashMapEng = new HashMap<String, Integer>(bigrams(charArrayEng)); LinkedHashMap<String, Integer> sortedListEng = new LinkedHashMap<String, Integer>(sort(hashMapEng)); int sizeEng=sortedListEng.size(); System.out.println("Total count of English bigrams is " + sizeEng); LinkedHashMap<String, Integer> smoothedListEng = new LinkedHashMap<String, Integer>(smooth(sortedListEng, sizeEng)); //print linkedHashMap to check values Set set= smoothedListEng.entrySet(); Iterator iter = set.iterator ( ) ; System.out.println("Beginning English"); while ( iter.hasNext()) { Map.Entry entry = ( Map.Entry ) iter.next ( ) ; Object key = entry.getKey ( ) ; Object value = entry.getValue ( ) ; System.out.println( key+" : " + value); } System.out.println("End English"); }//end while }//end try catch (FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally { try { if (reader != null) { reader.close(); } } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } //End training English----------------------------------------------------------- //Training japanese-------------------------------------------------------------- File file2 = new File("japanese1.txt"); StringBuffer contents2 = new StringBuffer(); BufferedReader reader2 = null; try { reader2 = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(file2)); String test2 = null; //repeat until all lines are read while ((test2 = reader2.readLine()) != null) { test2 = test2.toLowerCase(); char[] charArrayJap = test2.toCharArray(); HashMap<String, Integer> hashMapJap = new HashMap<String, Integer>(bigrams(charArrayJap)); //System.out.println( "bigrams stage"); LinkedHashMap<String, Integer> sortedListJap = new LinkedHashMap<String, Integer>(sort(hashMapJap)); //System.out.println( "sort stage"); int sizeJap=sortedListJap.size(); //System.out.println("Total count of Japanese bigrams is " + sizeJap); LinkedHashMap<String, Integer> smoothedListJap = new LinkedHashMap<String, Integer>(smooth(sortedListJap, sizeJap)); System.out.println( "smooth stage"); //print linkedHashMap to check values Set set2= smoothedListJap.entrySet(); Iterator iter2 = set2.iterator(); System.out.println("Beginning Japanese"); while ( iter2.hasNext()) { Map.Entry entry2 = ( Map.Entry ) iter2.next ( ) ; Object key = entry2.getKey ( ) ; Object value = entry2.getValue ( ) ; System.out.println( key+" : " + value); }//end while System.out.println("End Japanese"); }//end while }//end try catch (FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally { try { if (reader2 != null) { reader2.close(); } } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } //end training Japanese--------------------------------------------------------- } //end main (inner)

  • What is the purpose of this delegate usage?

    - by Kev
    Whilst poking around some code in .NET Reflector in an app I don't have the source code for I found this: if (DeleteDisks) { using (List<XenRef<VDI>>.Enumerator enumerator3 = list.GetEnumerator()) { MethodInvoker invoker2 = null; XenRef<VDI> vdiRef; while (enumerator3.MoveNext()) { vdiRef = enumerator3.Current; if (invoker2 == null) { // // Why do this? // invoker2 = delegate { VDI.destroy(session, vdiRef.opaque_ref); }; } bestEffort(ref caught, invoker2); } } } if (caught != null) { throw caught; } private static void bestEffort(ref Exception caught, MethodInvoker func) { try { func(); } catch (Exception exception) { log.Error(exception, exception); if (caught == null) { caught = exception; } } } Why not call VDI.destroy() directly. Is this just a way of wrapping the same pattern of try { do something } catch { log error } if it's used a lot?

  • JQuery UI: is it possible to know where an object has been dropped?

    - by Jack Duluoz
    Hi, what I want to do is to know where (not in terms of position (x, y), but a reference to the DOM element) an object was dropped. I have a grid made up with divs where you can drop various items and I need to know which div on the grid was the item dropped on (getting its id would be fine). The callback function function(event, ui) { //code here } has just that ui object who doesn't apparently contain any information about this, but only about the draggable item or its helper.
