  • Problem with java on Windows

    I had installed jdk-6u18-windows-i586 on my machine. Later on I uninstalled it and installed jdk 1.5.0_13 instead. Now when I do javac -version I get jdk 1.5.0_13 But when I do java -version I get java version "1.6.0_19" How do I fix this?

    When I write something like this: using (var connection = new SqlConnection("ConnectionString")) { using(var cmd= new SqlCommand("Command")) { using (var reader = cmd.ExecuteReader()) { while (reader.Read()) { } } } } ReSharper shows warning on reader.Read(), and tells that reader can be null. But in what cases can it be null? As I know if command returns nothing reader is not null, it only have nothing.

    Hi guys. I have a simple question for you (i hope) :) I have pretty much always used void as a "return" type when doing CRUD operations on data. Eg. Consider this code: public void Insert(IAuctionItem item) { if (item == null) { AuctionLogger.LogException(new ArgumentNullException("item is null")); } _dataStore.DataContext.AuctionItems.InsertOnSubmit((AuctionItem)item); _dataStore.DataContext.SubmitChanges(); } and then considen this code: public bool Insert(IAuctionItem item) { if (item == null) { AuctionLogger.LogException(new ArgumentNullException("item is null")); } _dataStore.DataContext.AuctionItems.InsertOnSubmit((AuctionItem)item); _dataStore.DataContext.SubmitChanges(); return true; } It actually just comes down to whether you should notify that something was inserted (and went well) or not ?

    In MVC Global.asax file, we can see the Application_Start where this event fires only for once. But the session is not yet active/available here. So my question is, is there any event in Global.asax file that fired only for once and session is available also?   • Random number from a range in a Bash Script

    Hi, I need to generate a random port number between 2000-65000 from a shell script. The problem is $RANDOM is only a 16bit number, so im stuck! PORT=$(($RANDOM%63000+2001)) would work nicely if it wasn't for the size limitation. Does anyone have an example of how I can do this, maybe by extracting something from /dev/urandom and getting it within a range? Thanks.

  • Best way to parse this particular string using awk / sed?

    Hi, I need to get a particular version string from a file (call it version.lst) and use it to compare another in a shell script. For example sake, the file contains lines that look like this: V1.000 -- build date and other info here -- APP1 V1.000 -- build date and other info here -- APP2 V1.500 -- build date and other info here -- APP3 .. and so on. Let's say I am trying to grab the first version (in this case, V1.000) from APP1. Obviously, the versions can change and I want this to be dynamic. What I have right now works: var = `cat version.lst | grep " -- APP1" | grep -Eo V[0-9].[0-9]{3}` Pipe to grep will get the line containing APP1 and the second pipe to grep will get the version string. However, I hear grep is not the way to do this so I'd like to learn the best way using awk or sed. Any ideas? I am new to both and haven't found a tutorial easy enough to learn the syntax of it. Do they support egrep? Thanks!

  • How to add indexes to MySQL tables?

    I've got a very large MySQL table with about 150,000 rows of data. Currently, when I try and run SELECT * FROM table WHERE id = '1'; the code runs fine as the ID field is the primary index. However, recently for a development in the project, I have to search the database by another field. For example SELECT * FROM table WHERE product_id = '1'; This field was not previously indexed, however, I've added it as an index but when I try to run the above query, the results is very slow. An EXPLAIN query reveals that there is no index for the product_id field when I've already added one and as a result the query takes any where from 20 minutes to 30 minutes to return a single row. When a client uses this library and makes a new linked list, he would have the following declaration: list myList; So typing llist just before the opening brace is practically useless, right?   • Jquery: Incrimentation for each set of elements in more than 1 div

    I'm making a Jquery slideshow. It lists thumbnails, that when clicked on, reveal the large image as an overlay. To match up the thumbs with the large images I'm adding attributes to each thumbnail and large image. The attributes contain a number which matches each thumb to its corresponding large image. It works when one slideshow is present on a page. But I want it to work if more than one slideshow is present. Here's the code for adding attributes to thumbs and large images: thumbNo = 0; largeNo = 0; $(this + '.slideshow_content .thumbs img').each(function() { thumbNo++; $(this).attr('thumbimage', thumbNo); $(this).attr("title", "Enter image gallery"); }); $(this + '.slideshow_content .image_container .holder img').each(function() { largeNo++; $(this).addClass('largeImage' + largeNo); }); This works. To make the incrementation work when there are two slideshows on a page, I thought I could stick this code in an each function... $('.slideshow').each(function() { thumbNo = 0; largeNo = 0; $(this + '.slideshow_content .thumbs img').each(function() { thumbNo++; $(this).attr('thumbimage', thumbNo); $(this).attr("title", "Enter image gallery"); }); $(this + '.slideshow_content .image_container .holder img').each(function() { largeNo++; $(this).addClass('largeImage' + largeNo); }); }); The problem with this is that the incrimenting operator does not reset for the second slideshow div (.slideshow), so I end up with thumbs in the first .slideshow div being numbered 1,2,3 etc.. and thumbs in the second .slideshow div being numbered 4,5,6 etc. How do I make the numbers in the second .slideshow div reset and start from 1 again? This is really hard to explain concisely. I hope someone gets the gist.

    I have installed WAMP. I am using Tomcat 6 to run my PHP scripts. I am also using JavaBridge.war and I have copied my php scripts into \webapp\JavaBridge\project. I have removed the semicolon from php.ini file before the statements extension=php_mysqli.dll extension=php_mysql.dll I have added C:\wamp\bin into my PATH env variable. I have copied all dll's from C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.0\ext into C:\windows\system32 I am still getting this error. Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysqli_connect() in C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\project\pf_query.php on line 534 Note - I dont get this error when I run my PHP script from Apache 2.2.11 of the WAMP package.

  • How to use $.get data to replace certain elements in a webpage?

    I'm using jQuery 1.4.2 to navigate smoothly between similar webpages (in ff3). When clicking on a link, a javascript script should load the new html, filter out the right elements and replace them on the current page. It looks like the $(htmlcode) does not do the thing I expected. The actions below work when loading the page directly, but when using the $.get I have the following problems: the find function seems only to look inside a div element called id="page", which is inside the body element one of the elements has <script>...</script>, but the <script>...</script> is not present in the DOM of $(htmlcode). Anybody knows how to solve this? $.get( url, function(responseText, textStatus, xmlHttpRequest) { alert($(responseText).find("#header")); // works, #header is inside div#page alert($(responseText).find("#header").html()); // displays content, but WITHOUT the <script>...</script> alert($(responseText).find("title")); // does not work, title is outside div#page } );

    I need to get all the text nodes with a certain font-face in a page to an array. I tried.. textnodes = document.evaluate("//* [@style='font-family: foo;']//text()[" + "not(ancestor::script) and not(ancestor::style)]", document, null, XPathResult.UNORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE, null); and textnodes = document.evaluate("//* [@face='foo']//text()[" + "not(ancestor::script) and not(ancestor::style)]", document, null, XPathResult.UNORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE, null); But these does not work with pages that is styled by external CSS files. Seems getComputedStyle() is the way to go. I think what I need is something like.. var tags = document.getElementsByTagName('*'); for (var i in tags) { var style = getComputedStyle(tags[i], ''); if (style.fontFamily.match(/foo/i)) { textnodes.push(tags[i]); } } But text nodes were not returned in this method. Is there anyway I can use a hybrid of xpath evaluate() and getComputedStyle() or any other way to achieve this?

  • Is it possible to use an incremental value within a variable name whilst declaring it within a loop?

    Hi, I'm creating function which will read different XML files each time that will contain different amounts of the same nodes. I have already created a loop which stores the ID of each node into an array, and now I want to create variables for each array member which store attributes of the node with each ID. Because the number of nodes will be different for every XML document my function reads, I cannot manually assign variables for the attributes of each node ID not knowing how many to assign, so I have created a loop which runs specific to the number of items I have stored in the array. Inside this loop I was hoping to have something like: for (i=0; i<array.length; i++) { var ID + i + width = exampleheight var ID + i + height = exampleheight } I know this doesn't work, but was trying to outline what I am looking to find out. Is it possible to use some kind of variable or random number when declaring a variable?

I am doing my coding in Windows XP/IIS 5.1. I have PHP setup correctly because i have no problem running .php file. The problem seem to me that IIS can't render php code embedded inside html. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or should i switch to Apache?

Given a User-class with many, many properties: public class User { public virtual Int64 Id { get; private set; } public virtual string Firstname { get; set; } public virtual string Lastname { get; set; } public virtual string Username { get; set; } public virtual string Email { get; set; } ... public virtual string Comment { get; set; } public virtual UserInfo LastModifiedBy { get; set; } } Here some DDL for the table: CREATE TABLE USERS ( "ID" BIGINT NOT NULL , "FIRSTNAME" VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL , "LASTNAME" VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL , "USERNAME" VARCHAR(128) NOT NULL , "EMAIL" VARCHAR(128) NOT NULL , ... "LASTMODIFIEDBY" BIGINT NOT NULL , ) IN "USERSPACE1" ; Database-table-field 'LASTMODIFIEDBY' holds for auditing purposes the Id from the User who is acting in case of inserts or updates. This would normally be an admin. Because the UI shall display not this Int64 but admins name (pattern like 'Lastname, Firstname') I need to retrieve these values by self referencing table USERS to itself. Next is, that a whole object of type User would be overkill by the amount of unwanted fields. So there is a class UserInfo with much smaller footprint. public class UserInfo { public Int64 Id { get; set; } public string Firstname { get; set; } public string Lastname { get; set; } public string FullnameReverse { get { return string.Format("{0}, {1}", Lastname ?? string.Empty, Firstname ?? string.Empty); } } } So here starts the problem. Actually I have no clue how to accomplish this task. Im not sure if I also must provide a mapping for class UserInfo and not only for class User. I'd like to integrate class UserInfo as Composite-element within the mapping for User-class. But I dont no how to define the mapping between USERS.ID and USERS.LASTMODIFIEDBY table-fields.   • Django site runs into "504 timeout error"

    I have a Django based site on Nginx+FastCGI which keeps running into "504 timeout error" after about 30 minutes since FastCGI process restarted. I did a "ps -aux" check and a lot of FastCGI processes are with D status. How can I figure out which part of the site make FastCGI processes not responsing?
