  • Which torrent client has command line arguments to start/stop downloads?

    first of all, I want to create shell script to start/stop downloads in torrent client. I don't need CLI but if you know how I can do that with CLI using shell script then it is okay. I use jDownloader which is GUI based application but has some command line arguments as below which I use to start/stop download. -h/--help Show this help message -a/--add-link(s) Add links -co/--add-container(s) Add containers -d/--start-download Start download -D/--stop-download Stop download -H/--hide Don't open Linkgrabber when adding Links -m/--minimize Minimize download window -f/--focus Get jD to foreground/focus -s/--show Show JAC prepared captchas -t/--train Train a JAC method -r/--reconnect Perform a Reconnect -C/--captcha <filepath or url> <method> Get code from image using JAntiCaptcha -p/--add-password(s) Add passwords -n --new-instance Force new instance if another jD is running So I can easily start/stop download as follows, jdownloader --start-download jdownloader --stop-download now I want torrent client to do that through shell script.

  • Show hidden scrollbar

    A client is opening our website into a popup window using JavaScript with window.open. They are turning off scrollbars and making the window a fixed height, causing the pages to not be scrollable. I control the code of the website being loaded this way, but not the calling JavaScript. Is there any way I can force the display of scrollbars?

  • How to put JFrame into existing JPanel in Java Swing?

    I have an open-source java swing application like this: http://i47.tinypic.com/dff4f7.jpg You can see in the screenshot, there is a JPanel divided into two area, left and right area. The left area has many text links. When I click the SLA Criteria link, it will pop-up the SLA Criteria window. The pop-up window is JFrame object. Now, I'm trying to put the pop-up window into right area of the JPanel, so that means no pop-up window anymore, i.e. when I click the SLA Criteria link, its contents will be displayed at the right area of the JPanel. The existing content of the right area of JPanel will not be used anymore. The example illustration (note: it's made and edited using image editor, this is not the real screenshot of working application) is like this: http://i48.tinypic.com/5vrxaa.jpg So, I would like to know is there a way to put JFrame into JPanel? I'm thinking of using JInternalFrame, is it possible? Or is there another way?   • my layout breaks in IE7 and javascript page reloads make the screen blink

    My layout breaks if I change the window size in IE7/AOL, so I added a simple javascript function that fires on window.onresize, but no matter how I change the location I get problems. It was suggested I post a link and here it is: link text I already use PHP to detect browser and include an IE7-only inline stylesheet (and for mobile browsers), and my page looks nearly identical to the way it does in FF, Opera, Chrome, Safari and IE8, but when I change the window size, some things go wonky, and come back into line if you refresh. Any advice is welcome :)

    I'm getting started with WPF and trying to get my head around connecting data to the UI. I've managed to connect to a class without any issues, but what I really want to do is connect to a property of the main window.     I have url connection, which normally works fine NSURLConnection *connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:delegate]; But when I create a modal window, no request ever receives response: [NSApp runModalForWindow:window]; If I comment this line out, thus creating a 'standard' window, everything works. I tried implementing all methods from NSURLConnectionDelegate, not a single of them called. I suspect this is something about 'run loops', but have little experience in this area. Does anybody have experience in this? Thank you

  • XMLHttpRequest() and outputting csv file

    Initially, I developed a javascript function to use window.open to post contents of a form to a new window which simply opened the new window and initiated a csv file download. Now on reflection, I find the opening of the window superfluous and am trying to just execute a XMLHttpRequest() to download the csv. I am not getting what I want and I'm not 100% sure that I can so I thought I'd ask here for some assistance. When a form is submitted, I want to take all the form values and post them to another page which builds an SQL string and builds a csv based on the contents. (This I can do and works fine with XMLHttpRequest() as seen below) var xhReq = new XMLHttpRequest(); var parameters = ""; for ( i=0; i<formObj.elements.length; i++ ) { parameters += formObj.elements[i].name + "=" + encodeURI( formObj.elements[i].value ) + "&"; } xhReq.open("POST", outputLocation, false); xhReq.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); xhReq.setRequestHeader("Content-length", parameters.length); xhReq.setRequestHeader("Connection", "close"); xhReq.send(parameters); document.write(xhReq.responseText); The code above calls the page ok, builds the csv ok, but it outputs the contents into the current browser window instead of initiating a csv file download.   • Rendering only a part of the screen in high detail

    If graphics are rendered for a large viewing angle (e.g. a very large TV or a VR headset), the viewer can't actually focus on the entire image, just a part of it. (Actually, this is the case for regular sized screens as well.) Combined with a way to track the viewer's eyes, you could theoretically exploit this and render the graphics away from the viewer's focus with progressively less details and resolution, gaining performance, without losing perceived quality. Are there any techniques for this available or under development today?

  • Assembly-wide / root-level styles in WPF class library

    I have a C# (2008/.NET 3.5) class library assembly that supports WPF (based on http://dotupdate.wordpress.com/2007/12/05/how-to-add-a-wpf-control-library-template-to-visual-c-express-2008/). I've created several windows, and am now attempting to create a common style set for them. However, as it's a class library (instead of a WPF app), I don't have an app.xaml (and its contained Application & corresponding Application.Resources) in which to store these styles for global access. So: How can I create a top-level set of style definitions that'll be seen by all xaml files in the assembly, given that I do not have app.xaml (see above)? And/or is it possible to add a working app.xaml to a class library? FYI, I did try creating a ResourceDictionary in a ResourceDictionary.xaml file, and include it in each window within a "Window.Resources" block. That turned out to solve the styling of Buttons, etc... but not for the enclosing Window. I can put 'Style="{StaticResource MyWindowStyle}"' in the Window's opening block, and it compiles and shows up in the VS Design window fine, but during actual runtime I get a parse exception (MyWindowStyle could not be found; I'm guessing Visual Studio sees the dictionary included after the line in question, but the CRL does things more sequentially and therefore hasn't loaded the ResourceDictionary yet).

    Hello, I globally use singleton pattern in my project. To make it easier - boost::singleton. Current project uses Ogre3d library for rendering. Here is some class: class GraphicSystem : public singleton<GraphicSystem> { private: Ogre::RenderWindow *mWindow; public: Ogre::RenderWindow *getWindow() const { return mWindow; } }; In GraphicSystem constructor I fill the mWindow value: mWindow = mRoot->createRenderWindow(...); I cheked it, everything makes normally. So, now I have to use handler for the window in input system (to get window handle). Somewhere else in another class: Ogre::RenderWindow *temp = GraphicSystem::get_mutable_instance().getWindow(); GraphicSystem::get_mutable_instance().getWindow()->getCustomAttribute("WINDOW", &mWindowHandle); temp is 0x00, and there is segfault at last line (getting custon attribute). I can't understand, why does singleton returns undefined pointer for the window. All another singleton-based classes work well.

  • When to use ellipsis after menu items

    In pretty much all applications that have a menu bar, some of the items have an ellipsis (...) after them, and some don't. Is there a well known convention on when to put that ellipsis there and when not to? When do you do it? Do you do it? I have looked at various windows applications, and this is what I have come to: Ellipsis Menu items which opens a form that require user input to do something (Replace, Go to, Font) No ellipsis Menu items which just does something (Cut, Paste, Exit, Save) Menu items which opens a form that does not require user input (About, Check for Updates) But then there always seems to be menu items that doesn't follow this rule. For example the Help items (How do I, Search, Index) and the Find and Replace (Quick Find, Find in Files, Find Symbol) in Visual Studio. So after thinking about it a bit more I know think this might be the thing: Ellipsis Menu items that will definitely open a modal window. No Ellipsis Menu items that opens a non-modal window. Menu items that doesn't open any window. Menu items that most likely won't open a modal window (Like Save, which does open a modal window if you haven't saved before or something like that, but otherwise don't) What do you guys think?

  • Chemical alternatives to caffeine / coffee for mental clarity and alertness? [on hold]

    Currently I drink about 2 cups of coffee or tea a day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon usually). However I'm very sensitive to stimulants and drinking caffeine regularly keeps my resting heart rate really high, causes occasional heart palpitations, and sometimes trouble sleeping. I've tried going without coffee, and while I can do it, I have trouble concentrating at work and even just enjoying my work. I'm borderline ADD (or possibly full on ADD, but haven't been checked). And I tend to lose focus easily if I don't have some coffee or tea in me. For health reasons, I'd like to cut it out completely, but when I do my work performance seriously suffers. I already work out (cardio and/or weight lifting) 5 - 6 days a week, and get an average of about 8 hours of sleep, but I still can't focus throughout the day without caffeine. Are there any over the counter chemical or supplement alternatives for mental clarity that you've used with success don't cause the additional unwanted physical side effects that come with regular stimulants like caffeine?

    Note: this is about Firefox extension, not a js general question. In Firefox extension project I need my javascript object to be initialized just once per Firefox window. Otherwise each time I open my window a new timers will be engaged, new properties will be used, so everything will start from scratch. hope example below will demystify my question :) var StupidExtension { statusBarValue: "Not Initialized Yet", startup: function () { ... // Show statusBarValue in Status Bar Panel }, initTimerToRetrieveStatusBarValueFromNetwork: function () { ... } } so each time you hit Ctrl+N a new window you will see "Not Initialized Yet" and then new timer will be fired, so after some time it retrieve data from network you will see value also on second window and so on. Ideally would be to have just a single timer function running and updating all status bar panels in all Firefox windows. Of course I can do some caching, like saving the value in prefs or some other storage, then show it from there. But I feel like this is artificial. So the question will be is there "native" technique of making static some parts of the object among all Firefox window instances?

  • Invalidating non-client areas

    I've a window which I draw a custom border/caption, in order to do that I handle WM_NCPAINT message. My captin has two backgrounds a brighter one when it is the active window, and a darker one when it is in the background. But under some circumstances, for example when the window loses/gain focus, my caption is not updated so I end with the wrong background. Until now I've handled WM_NCACTIVATE, and send a RedrawWindow(hwnd, NULL, NULL, RDW_FRAME|RDW_INVALIDATE), but this causes the whole window to repaint. Do you have any advice about this?
