  • HTML5, PHP, JAVA or asp?

    I am building a new website for a friend of mine. Its all plain html, and a server side include. The problem is to build static pages for 500 products would not be fun to create, or maintain. So i am forced to at least put dynamic information on these pages based off a spreadsheet, or dynamic pages all together. What i want to do is have a spreadsheet that can be used to keep track of in stock quantity, sku numbers, ecc.. that way i dont have to update hundreds of pages every night. He can just edit the spreadsheet and the pages will automatically adjust. I am a busy man, and i am not asking anyone to just give me the answer. But to save some time what is more worth learning to get this done fastest. HTML5, PHP, JAVA asp, or is there somehthing else better suited?

    Would it be wise to use ROWLOCK on an insert statement that is copying large amounts of data and inserting it into the same table? Ex) INSERT INTO TABLE with (rowlock) (id, name) select newid, name) from TABLE with (nolock) where id = 1 Does anybody have recommendations on how to improve this statement, as I see when MS SQL gets busy it will end in Timeout Query returned for MS SQL.

    i have sandbox user code service running in MMC and in CA as well. It gets deployed from vs 2010 without any errors.Still when I try to add a sandboxed web part I get error message like " The sandboxed code execution request was refused because the Sandboxed Code Host Service was too busy to handle the request." I am using windows 7 proffessional OS and sharepoint 2010 rtm version. please help me to resolve this.

    I just pay for the deluxe plan in godaddy for my website but I have a problem, I created the database in mssql and when I click to webadmin ,it redirects me to: http://mssql.myname.com/silentlogon.aspx with the message: This webpage is not available. But if I create a mysql database everything is ok, idk what I am doing wrong , I know I cant contact GoDaddy but the line is busy or when I talk to them they don't understand.     I'm coding a networking application on Android. I'm thinking of having a single UDP port and Datagram socket that receives all the datagrams that are sent to it and then have different processing queues for these messages. I'm doubting if I should have a second or third UDP socket on standby. Some messages will be very short (100bytes or so), but others will have to transfer files. My concern is, will the Android kernel drop the small messages if it's too busy handling the bigger ones?

I use Rails 3.0.0beta A lot of files can be uploaded at the same time, and the cost (from a performance point of view) of an upload is quite heavy, my app will be busy handling uploads all the time! Maybe a solution is to upload directly to s3, but I still need a submit to my app, at least to store the file's name. I'm wondering what is the best solution?

I'm using the SMTP module to relay emails through an SMTP gateway (required by the hosting provider), but every once in a while the connection is refused - probably due to the gateway being too busy.

  • Running resize2fs on /

    I'm trying to resize an ext4 filesystem on a Fedora 11 box. Using fsdisk and lvm, I was able to grow the partition and logical volume containing the filesystem. When I try to run resize2fs on the device containing the filesystem (/dev/sda2 in this case), I get: "Device or resource busy while trying to open /dev/sda2, Couldn't find valid filesystem superblock" I've tried this from a rescue disk that doesn't have the filesystem mounted, no joy. Maybe resize2fs doesn't know about ext4?

    Hi all, I was some time ago busy with ExtJS and ajax. I've have some data in csv format that i return. With ExtJS you can use the option isUpload to popup a file "filename.csv" where you can click save / open etc. Now i'm moving all ExtJS to Jquery and i don't seem to find something which handles this in Jquery, there is no option isUpload in ajax with jquery i guess?   • Non-blocking MySQL updates with java?

    For a multiplayer game I'm working on I'd like to record events to the mysql database without blocking the game update thread so that if the database is busy or a table is locked the game doesn't stop running while it waits for a write. What's the best way to accomplish this? I'm using c3p0 to manage the database connection pool. My best idea so far is to add query update strings to a synchronized list with an independent thread checking the list every 100ms and executing the queries it finds there.

Management is completely disengaged, and the users as well. What do you do in this type of situation? I've taken to learning some deeper aspects of .Net and software construction in general, but don't like the feeling that I'm stiffing my employer.
