• How to add LDAP user to existing local group in RHEL?

  I'm attempting to add some of our LDAP users to a locally defined group on our RHEL server, however I get an error stating that the LDAP user is not found in /etc/passwd. What would be the best way to allow LDAP users to be added to local groups? My feeling is that this must be done manually. I could edit: /etc/group and add the LDAP group to the list. Would that be ideal? • List existing file server permission groups/users

  So we have taken over a new client and their existing file server is frankly a mess. We have migrated their old file server from a 2k box to a 2k8 DFS cluster and now I'm looking at rebuilding both the folder structure and their permissions. Unfortunately its been half done with AD groups (poorly named/no description/notes) and half with individuals named in security on the folders themselves. What I'm looking to do is to dump a complete list of all the folders with their security permissions (ideally I'd like to ignore files but not essential). CACLS got me half way there but fails with an odd error message and its output isn't particularly user friendly and I'm working with roughly 2Tb/250,000 files here so I really need something that gives me a bit more functionality. Question : does anyone have any experience of something similar/know of a bit of software that might help me out?

• Freenas & LDAP Multiple User Groups Not Taking Affect

  we are using, Freenas 9.2.1.7 which communicates with LDAP to control file permission. We have Windows users in multiple groups. Some belong to Finance as their primary group and Admin as another group they belong to. They can only access files from their Primary group. We use LDAP Account Manager - 4.4 to control which group the users belong to. We have also been trying to control access from the command line. We hae tried using this : setfacl -m group@:rwWxpaRc::allow DIR / Or File Name The problem is only the primary group is being seen / used. I am trying to determine why only on group is being used. Can someone please help me diagnose where the problem is. Thanks for the help, Dan

• "Windows Groups" missing from NAP Conditions

  I am trying to configure a NAP policy for a 2008 R2 server running AD services. I have done this before and there is a condition for "Windows Groups". It is missing from the Conditions list, this time, though. I have registered NAP in AD I have restarted the NAP service I have rebooted I have removed the server as a NAP/IAS server in AD and re-registered I have removed the role and added it again I can't seem to find this in my googlings. • DallasXAML.com – A New User Group for Silverlight, WPF, XBAP, etc.

                                   http://DallasXAML.com   I’ve devoted much of last month to starting the DallasXAML User Group.  I finally got back into user group management after 2 years away from leading the Dallas C# SIG.  Now I’m having fun getting a Silverlight/WPF user group going strong for the Dallas / Ft. Worth community.  Our first meeting was March 3rd at the Improving Enterprises offices in North Dallas.  We had about 25 to 35 attendees in the first meeting and it went well.  We covered the most important topic that everyone should understand well – data binding.   So I chose the XAML user group so we can get together for a common group improvement in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area and learn cross-technology information that we can use now.  It is not a lecture hall.  The great thing is that we’ll provide hands-on experience with most every meeting.  The goal is to get the experience that we can use the next work day.  I unfortunately broke that rule by speaking all through the first meeting, but next month is part two with more hands-on data binding.   The differentiation is this group concentrates on XAML, not Silverlight or Windows Client alone.  What we learn in one area, we gain for all areas.  That includes the Silverlight for Windows Phone 7 coming later this year.  Next year it may be Windows Phone 8, 9, or whatever.    I started developing WPF seriously almost a year ago.  I experienced the painful learning curve.  Anyone who reports that there isn’t a big learning curve either thinks in XAML before it was developed, is on the Silverlight or WPF development team, or has already conquered the learning and forgot the pain.  So I wanted to share the pain or make it easier for others – same thing.  I have found that the more I learn and use good disciplined techniques, the more interesting and rewarding development is again.   A few months ago, I was sitting in the iPhone development session at the Dallas C# SIG.  After the meeting, the audience was polled for future topics.  After a few suggestions, Silverlight got the big hands up.  That makes sense because it’s still the hot topic for many Microsoft developers.  So I surfed around and found that there aren’t enough user groups to help in this area.  I polled a few local group leaders and did the work to start the group.  This week I got a telerik controls licence and improved the site with some great controls, namely the RadHtmlPlaceholder control.  It provides a Silverlight control to show HTML in an IFrame-like area.  On DallasXAML.com, the newsletters and resource pages display in HTML because Silverlight just isn’t there yet.  I’m looking forward to a Silverlight XPS viewer with flow documents.  There are some good commercial version available, but this is a non-profit group.    The DallasXAML.com site points to many other resources such as podcasts and webcasts.  I would rather give them the credit than try to out-do them.  So check out the DallasXAML user group site and attend our meetings if you can.  We meet the first Tuesday of the month.   -Vince DallasXAML User Group Leader

• jQuery: tabs where the tab/content can be linked to

  My issue is simple. I have already implemented a tab system, and I'd probably spend more time implementing another one with the solution I need, than giving a shot at adapting the code I have, and learn something while asking :) My problem is that the tabs can't be linked to, I need to be able to link to a tab from another website or page, and have that tab get selected upon page load. ie: I have three tabs showing different products, by default tab 1 is active/selected when the page loads. From the home page I want to link to tab 2 but I can't link to tab 2 because it doesn't get selected. Not sure if that makes sense. My extension has a button, and when clicked, is executing this code: chrome.tabs.getSelected(null, function(tab) { chrome.tabs.executeScript(tab.id, { file: 'tabscript.js' }); }); This works fine, but I see no way to pass a variable to tabscript.js so it can be used on the opened tab.

Is there a method that is called when a user clicks back to that tab, since the viewDidLoad won't be called that second time? • Tab-Bar not hiding on all views

  I have a tab-bar controller that loads a RootView. The RootView has 4 buttons that will load a UITableView I don't want my tab-bar to be visible in the RootView so I added the following code: -(void)viewDidLoad{ self.hidesBottomBarWhenPushed = YES; } When I initially load the app the tab-bar doesn't appear, but when I click on a button, and go back to the RootView the tab-bar still appears. I have tried placing this code in viewWillAppear and other application lifecycle methods but no luck.

  I've used hierarachyviewer earlier, but on android emulator. It works absolutely fine when I use it on the emulator. However it does not work with Samsung Galaxy TAB 7.0, with Android 2.3.4. • Splitting Servers into Two Groups

  At our organization, we're looking at implementing some sort of informal internal policy for server maintenance. What we're looking at doing is completing maintenance on our entire server pool every two months; each month we'll do half of the servers. What I'm trying to figure out is some way to split the servers into the two groups. Our naming convention isn't much to be desired (but getting better) so by name or number doesn't really work. I can easily take a list of all the servers and split them in two, but with new servers are being added constantly, and old ones retired, that list would be a headache to maintain. I'd like to look at any given server and know if it should have its maintenance done this month or next. For example, it would be nice to look at the serial number. If it started with an even number, then it gets maintenance done on even months and vice-versa. This example won't work though as a little over half of the servers are virtual. Any ideas?

• LDAP not showing secondary groups

  Currently, I have a LDAP server (running ClearOS if that makes any difference) containing a database of users. So, I went and setup LDAP on a couple of my debian VMs, using libpam-ldapd and I discovered this odd problem. My group/user mapping would show up when running getent group but the secondary groups would not show up when running id . Here is my /etc/nslcd.conf # /etc/nslcd.conf # nslcd configuration file. • Linux authentication via ADS -- allowing only specific groups in PAM

  I'm taking the samba / winbind / PAM route to authenticate users on our linux servers from our Active Directory domain. Everything works, but I want to limit what AD groups are allowed to authenticate. Winbind / PAM currently allows any enabled user account in the active directory, and pam_winbind.so doesn't seem to heed the require_membership_of=MYDOMAIN\\mygroup parameter. Doesn't matter if I set it in the /etc/pam.d/system-auth or /etc/security/pam_winbind.conf files. How can I force winbind to honor the require_membership_of setting? Using CentOS 5.5 with up-to-date packages. Update: turns out that PAM always allows root to pass through auth, by virtue of the fact that it's root. So as long as the account exists, root will pass auth. Any other account is subjected to the auth constraints. Update 2: require_membership_of seems to be working, except for when the requesting user has the root uid. In that case, the login succeeds regardless of the require_membership_of setting. This is not an issue for any other account. How can I configure PAM to force the require_membership_of check even when the current user is root? Current PAM config is below: auth sufficient pam_winbind.so auth sufficient pam_unix.so nullok try_first_pass auth requisite pam_succeed_if.so uid >= 500 quiet auth required pam_deny.so account sufficient pam_winbind.so account sufficient pam_localuser.so account required pam_unix.so broken_shadow password ..... • In a Tab Bar based app a controller release data of the other ! !

  Hi all ! I've made a ViewBased app, in the app delegate i've set a UITabBarCotntroller, in the app i have different view Controller two of them displays text in a UITextView and labels, the other one is my "ShakeController" a UIViewController in which i've set a UIAcelerometerDelegate, in it i create a instance of UIAccelerometer, in the method which manages the shake everything works fine, in this controller i have also set a UIImageView to make a simple animation, in the view Did Load method i set my imageView.animation to an array of UIImage. My problem is : when the app is launched i use the ViewControllers and everything work fine, but when i tap the ShakeController item in the tab bar and then when i come back to the other controllers the label looks like : label and textView like : Lorem ipsum..... the text of UItextView in IB. I have noticed thaht if i comment the initialisation of my imageView to the array of image i can navigate the items (from a view controller to another) without the label change and stay what i want them to be. Notice that the two controllers are in a UINavigationController. (i use @proprety (nonnatomic, retain) then @synthesize ... then releqse in the dealloc for the labels textview and my uiimageView) Do not know what to do thanks to all

• HTML tabindex: Put some links last without complete enumeration

  I know I can use the HTML anchor attribute tabindex to set the tabindex of links, i.e., in what order they get focused when the user hits Tab (or Shift-Tab). But, I have a home page with tons of links, and to enumerate all those is a lot of work. The actual case is, I have four image links that by default gets index 1, 2, 3, and 4 (well, the behavior is equivalent, at least). But, I'd much rather have the first non-image link as number 1. Check it out here and you'll understand immediately. I tried to give the first non-image link (the link I desire to have tabindex 1) - I tried to give it tabindex 1 explicitly, hoping that it would cascade from there, but it didn't (i.e., the first image link got implicit tabindex 2). I also tried to give the image links ridiculously high tabindexes, but that didn't work: as the other links didn't have tabindexes at all, those highs were still "first". As a last resort (the solution currently employed) I gave the image links all tabindex -1. That makes for logical tabbing, but, it is suboptimal, as those image links are excluded from the tab loop - a user tabbing away will probably never realize that the images are clickable. I'd like them to be reachable with tabbing, but last, after all the ordinary links. If you wonder why I'm so determined to achieve this, it has to do with my own finger habits: I almost exclusively search for links, tab back, tab forth, etc., and very seldom using the mouse. Note: I'll accept a script to change the actual HTML for a complete enumeration, if you convince me there is no "set" way to solve this problem.
