• Bad performance issue on dedicated server

  I just subscribed to a dedicated server offer, and encounter some bad PHP execution performances. Actually, the time execution may be 2 times bigger than it is on my old mutualized server! I'm definitely not an expert in server management, so I'm wondering what I missed. • RRAS VPN Server on Windows 2008 Behind NAT

  Ok, so I have kind of a funky setup, let me see if I can describe it. I have a single VMware host with a public IP address 74.xx.xx.x Inside that host, I have 3 VM's Web Server - 1 NIC - 192.168.199.20 SQL Server - 1 NIC - 192.168.199.30 RRAS/VPN Server - 2 NICs 192.168.199.40 & 192.168.199.45 Due to Limitations of my ISP, all of the VM's are connected to the host VIA NAT. I have NAT setup for the webserver so all incoming requests on 74.xx.xx.x via port 80 route to 192.168.199.20. This works fine. Now I want to set up a Windows 2008 VPN server inside this NAT network and forward the correct traffic to it. My questions are as follows? What are the TCP/UDP ports that i have to forward? What special configuration is needed on the server and clients since this is behind a NAT Any other advice would be wonderful.

  I'm having a surprising issue where our old OCS 2007 R2 Edge server died of hardware failure (no backup) in the middle of our move to Lync. How can I forcefully remove the Edge server from the organization without being able to deactivate the role from the server itself? • Hyper-V server 2012 nic teaming setup and virtual switch configuration

  I have a server with 2 nics. I installed Hyper-v 2012 server (not windows server 2012, no gui) I am trying to set up load balancing. I have both nics in the same switch currently in trunk mode and no native vlan. I use the new-netlbfoteam command to create a team with both nics, I can then "set-netlbfoteamnic "Nic Team" -vlanid 4" so that its available to me with a DHCP or static address but as soon as I try to create a virtual switch it becomes unresponsive. My guess is that is due to it removing the vlan tagging I setup. if I add-netlbfoteamnic and set it for vlan 4, then set the IP I can ping it from my management computer but I just get an error "an error occurred while attempting to connect to server "xxxxxx" Check that the Virtual Machine Management service is running and that you are authorized to connect to the server."

Error Code 800706B3 This error appears before I can even attempt to connect to an SSRS instance. In addition to this problem, I'm not able to connect to my SSRS instance via SSMS on my desktop.   Hello, I have a server that is running Windows 2008 64 bit Hyper-V, with 8 gigs of RAM and Intel Xeon X3440 @ 2.53 Ghz, which gives me 8 logical cores in the performance monitor on the host system. I have set up three Virtual Machines, all running Windows 2008 32 bit. Build server, running Team City Staging server SQL Server, running SQL Server 2005 I have some troubles with the setup in that the host monitor remains responsive at all times, even though the VM's are seemingly working at 100% cpu and are very sluggish and unresponsive. (I have asked a separate question about that.) So the question here is: What is the best way to monitor how the physical CPU's are actually utilized? The reason I am asking is that I am being told that i cannot reliably use the task manager to monitor CPU usage in a VM.

• OS X SMB Connection to Windows Server 2008 R2

  I support many Macs that connect to an SMB share on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box. Occasionally I find that the Mac will try to connect and fail. The connection process will skip asking for credentials and there are none stored in keychain's password section. The server logs will show that the user tried to authenticate with invalid credentials. There are also no lingering connections from the server's point of view. The work around that I've found is to use an invalid username or a username that isn't the user's in the connection string for SMB so smb://domain;user@server/share instead of 'smb://server/share' this will force it to use the username I specified which the client doesn't have anything stored for. So it will then pop up the login window where the user changes the username to the correct one and user her password to connect happily. Specific computer in question: 15" MBP running Snow Leopard (10.6.7 or 10.6.8)

  I have a need to place Windows Server 2012 onto a Sunfire X4100 blade server that contains a LSI SAS 1064e RAID controller (2006). The LSI site only has drivers up to server 2008 R2. I did attempt to install server 2012 hoping it might contain generic MS Drivers (I was dreaming, I know). That failed. I attempted to load external LSI drivers for server 2008. That failed as well. Am I out of luck, or did I miss something? Thanks in advance.

  I'm planning a server application that will handle files uploaded via FTP. The application must parse text documents that it receives and write them to a database (most likely a document-oriented database like Mongo). And the application must also relay all large binary files it receives to Amazon S3 for storage and hosting. I'd like to manage all aspects of the FTP server programmatically. For example, when a user registers via a web page the application should be able to create the user account in the database and provision a directory on the server for receiving files. I'm using a Linux server but am otherwise open to considering any programming language or framework. I experimented with VSFTPD but didn't like the way the application relies on config files and the creation of users and directories via the command line. Can someone please recommend what server framework I should consider? I'm a little biased toward solutions that leverage Javascript/Nodejs or Python. However, I'm open to anything that can run on a Linux box.

The reason for such requirement is that we need to track if the email is actually sent. We're sending our email to end users via our cooperate email server. Because I use SQL Server Standard Edition and not Enterprise, I am forced to use Windows Authentication to the users. I am a Linux admin, and have near zero knowledge on Active Directory. As deep as my shallow knowledge goes, I think that I would need to invest in a domain server, a mirrored backup of that domain server. I think that I need to change every computer to use this domain too, and if the domain server goes down, every computer will be unavailable.   I'm running SQL Server 2005 on two different servers running Win XP. The two servers are in different physical locations and are connected via a dedecated point to point data link in a virtual private network(VPN). Im only able to connect to the remote instance of SQL Server by specifying the IP address on the server name property. If I provide the actual server name say 'ServerA', then I get an error message. Everything works fine except configuring replication at the subscriber level, which requires the actual name of the instance, not an IP address or alias. I have already configured both instances on allow remote connections and im running the SQL Server Browser. How do I connect to the remote instance by providing the instance name? Alternatively how I configure subscription to a remote publisher without supplying the remote instance name?

  Hello, I'am using Wordpress 2.9. Webserver 8GB from Hostgator. I'am fighting with this problem for long time but still can not find the solution. Php switched to run as an apache module, Php 5 in DSO, Apache suEXEC, eaccelerator installed, but this configuration started making huge server load on server. Server load spiking from 1 to 250 (4 cpus) and server stops, after period of time its back again and stops in about 10 minutes. It started happening when hostgator support team installed eaccelerator on server. What can make this problem and how can I fix it?

• Split DC role from existing Exchange 2007 server

  We currently have a single Exchange 2007 Server on Windows Server 2008. It's also a DC and I'd like to split the DC role to a different box. Is this doable without migrating the mailboxes off to a temporary box, re-installing and migrating back? I.e. can I just demote the server without breaking Exchange completely? I know this was quite painful with Server 2003/Exchange 2003, so I'm trying to get an idea of how much different the process is for Server 2008/Exchange 2007.
