    There are times after I eject a USB Flash drive, I want to copy some more files over to the USB Flash drive. In this case, do I always need to unplug the drive and plug it back in? Is there a way to "reconnect" or "un-eject" the drive? To eject, that are two ways: 1) Right Click the drive (say H:) and choose Eject 2) Click "Safely remove hardware" from the icon tool But there seems to be no way to un-eject or reconnect a drive.

    Hello, we'd like to implement a daily spam report to our users like Dreamhost does. Basically we need to send a daily mail (at midnight for example) to inform a single user of all the emails currently in his spam folder with the related score to let them look right away if there's a false positive. We use a basic sendmail server with procmail to redirect spam to the spam folder in each home directory. Do you know if is there a perl script or some other tool that does just that?     We have around 1000 users in the Active Directory (on Windows 2008 R2) and we would like to batch update a field (student/employee ID number) from the school management system into their existing Active Directory accounts. Obviously, each student/employee ID is unique and needs to be matched to their current Active Directory account. How can this be done? Is there a tool available for this purpose?

    Hi, Is it possible to make a backup of my Windows Server from the built-in Microsoft tool, but as long as my Hyper-V backups are stored safely and not backed up anywhere, I can still restore my Windows Server from the native backup and use the Hyper-v machines? So if I lost my C:\ and my VMs are stored remotely, I can restore from an earlier backup and use those VMs.

    Does anyone have experience with a tool that can provide an indication of disk IO load by filesystem path. I use to 'iostat' utility, frequently, to learn how much disk activity is taking place on a Linux host. 'iostat' provides a per-device breakdown, so you can see activity on a particular block device. But it doesn't go any deeper than that--you can't, for instance, query the write load generated by 'httpd' in the directory '/var/log/httpd/'.

    We are using Win 2008 R2 and connecting to it from Win7 boxes. The RDP is faster then before but we want to know if their are any other solutions that will make it faster. Due to licensing issue we got a software that multiple people need to access (not all at the same time) and the only way i can find is to install on a server and give RDP access to users. Is their a faster remote desktop tool then RDP ? Thanks Jay

I have checked all event viewer logs on remote PC, no information related this. Where do I start searching for problem? Does Windows has some kind of permission monitor tool? But the server obviously works, since I can query it from .net... and it's definitely local, since I plugged the network connection

  • Free-as-in-beer binary file format inspector

    I am looking for a utility that gives me the ability to specify a binary file format and then interpret a file of bytes according to that format. (Something along the lines of the 010 Editor, but infinitely more cost-effective). Something that runs on Mac OS X would be preferred, but I'm interested to see what all is out there in general (while more of a hassle I'd be willing to run a tool on Windows if it were superior.)     Currently, mouse wheel scrolls the control that has keyboard focus. That's not good when window has several scrollable controls, because I have to click control first and then scroll. And the same again when trying to scoll another control. Especially bad, when that control has some action associated with click (like MSDN's article list - it opens new article on click). So, is there any tool to fix mouse scroll behavior?

I want to copy a large amount of data over from the HDD to the USB drive with integrity checking. I thought about copying everything over and then checking with md5summer but this would take a reaally long time because its a lot of data and this is not a very powerful PC.
