• Google Chrome 4.0.249.89 not working

  Good day to you, I am running Google Chrome 4.0.249.89 and noticed a weird behavior with it. It loads but I get this error, notice there is an absent of commonly used pages in the display itself and displays the message. Upon closer inspection within the directory which I've captured here on pastebin.com Has google chrome ceased to function after a certain limit...? I have tried the setup --rename-chrome-exe trick which did not work...I just don't want to lose my bookmarks... Thanks for your help, Best regards, Tom.

• "This file came from another computer..." - how can I unblock all the files in a folder without having to unblock them individually?

  Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista have this deal where zone information is preserved in downloaded files to NTFS partitions, such that it blocks certain files in certain applications until you "unblock" the files. So for example if you download a zip file of source code to try something out, every file will display this in the security settings of the file properties "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer" Along with an "Unblock" button. Some programs don't care, but Visual Studio will refuse to load projects in solutions until they've been unblocked. While it's not terribly difficult to go to every project file and unblock it individually, it's a pain. And it does not appear you can unblock multiple selected files simultaneously. Is there any way to unblock all files in a directory without having to go to them all individually? I know you can turn this off globally for all new files but let's say I don't want to do that

The problem is that where I work is moving to more security. We will need to stick a card into a slot to log into our PCs. They bought a bunch of new keyboards with these slots built in.   One of our web-projects was hacked. Malefactor changed some template files in project and 1 core file of the web-framework (it's one of the famous php-frameworks). We found all corrupted files by git and reverted them. So now I need to find the weak point. With high probability we can say, that it's not the ftp or ssh password abduction. The support specialist of hosting provider (after logs analysis) said that it was the security hole in our code. My questions: 1) What tools should I use, to review access and error logs of Apache? (Our server distro is Debian). 2) Can you write tips of suspicious lines detection in logs? Maybe tutorials or primers of some useful regexps or techniques? 3) How to separate "normal user behavior" from suspicious in logs. 4) Is there any way to preventing attacks in Apache? • How can I use fetchmail (or another email grabber) with OSX keychain for authentication?

  Every fetchmail tutorial I've read says putting your email account password clear-text in a config file is safe. However, I prefer security through layers (since, if my terminal is up and someone suspecting such email foolery slides over and simply types "grep -i pass ~/.*" then, oops, all my base are belong to them!). Now, with msmtp (as opposed to sendmail) I can authenticate using the OSX keychain. Is there an email 'grabber' that lets me use Keychains (specifically the OSX keychain) or at least, that lets me MD5 the password? This is a duplicate of my unanswered question on serverfault. I've put it on superuser because I'm doing this on a personal computer (viz. with OSX) so it's more of a superuser question.

  I'm a webdeveloper and using firefox with the bookmarks toolbar, the webdeveloper toolbar and the google toolbar. Are there shortcuts in firefox 3.5 to hide and show these toolbars. If not, may be an add on wich works in 3.5 to create a small script to hide these toolbars, bind with a shortcut? I found keyconfig addon but won't work in 3.5. I also found this script what sounds great. • Jenkins projects not visible even though user has all privleges

  We want to lock down Jenkins and specific jobs to certain personnel. I have my account with all global privileges granted with project based matrix security. A coworker has a similar account and has been granted all the same privileges. When I log in with my account, I can see all of the projects we have setup. When my coworker whom has the exact same privileges logs in, none of the projects are visible. I've double and triple checked the permissions matrix to make sure we have the same global privileges; we do. Some of the projects have project specific privileges setup as well, but again; I've confirmed that both of us have the same access to these projects as well. So why can I see all the projects and my coworker is unable to see any of the projects?

• Barring connections if VPN is down.

  I have a VPN account and use it for sensitive communication. However the VPN connection sometimes is dropped while my main connection to the internet is still alive. The pages I visit through VPN are on HTTP (not secure) and have javascript code which pings the host every minute or so on a timer. So it happens sometimes that the VPN connection is dropped and yet js sends a request to the server (with the cookies). How could I restrict connections so they only happen if the VPN is live? • How to open Firefox's "organize bookmarks" from Vimperator?

  Before using Vimperator, I used Xmarks for organizing and synchronizing bookmarks between computers. Now I installed Vimperator and I can only bookmark a page from command mode with :bmark. How can I open Organize Bookmarks with Vimperator? Besides disabling Vimperator and choosing it from the menu what else can I do? Before, I had CTRL + SHIFT + b to open the organizer. Now, in Vimperator, this shortcut doesn't work anymore, even after temporarily disabling Vimperator with CTRL + z. EDIT After setting the main menu visible (with :set go+=m thanks to Hamish Downer), I saw the shortcut for opening the organize bookmarks dialog (CTRL + SHIFT + o). I recently switched to Ubuntu Linux and in this version of Firefox some keyboard shortcuts are different then in Windows (including the shortcut for opening organize bookmarks). Sorry for my ignorance.

• Why are my Google and Bing search result pages locking up?

  I've got some really weird behavior going on. I can't do any web searching using Google or Bing because when the search result page shows up, every single link on the page is completely unresponsive. That is, every link to a search result. The links to page functions other than search results work fine. This happens in both IE9 and FF13. It doesn't happen to Yahoo! results, though. Any ideas?

• Why does a redirect from a local IP address assume localhost?

  I am developing a web application on my desktop and it is running on port 80. I am able to access the application from my laptop connected to the LAN by entering my desktop's LAN IP address 192.168.1.8. Now, my application sends a redirect after login, but my laptop assumes the final address is localhost/login. If I manually type in the IP address and URI for any page, it shows that I am logged in, so it works as expected. So, why does the redirect assume localhost? Both of my machines are linux-based. The laptop being Chrome OS. I am running nginx which proxies non-static file requests to jetty on port 8080.

• Inexpensive degaussers or HDD shredders?

  I do a lot of work for a small cash-strapped business that has a lot of active hard drives, most are consumer-grade SATA of about five years of age, and predictably they are dying at an increasing rate, and a lot of the time they can't even be detected, let alone complete a zero-out cycle. Right now those drives are just being stored, but that can't continue forever. We've got a couple bad LTO tapes it'd be nice to deal with, too. There are very real security and legal issues that make dropping them off with someone who claims they'll be properly destroyed a gamble. I've looked around at degaussers and HDD shredders, and the ones that don't look like they come from some guy in his basement all seem to be $3000+, which is hard to swallow right now. Is there anything out there in the $500-1500 range that you would recommend? (Speed isn't a big issue, if it takes several minutes or even hours per drive, that's completely OK, we've only got 10 or so thus far.)

• All browsers crash when file uploading or downloading dialog opens up

  I pretty much summarized the problem in the title. I tried to get some solutions. All I found was check if the Chrome has any concurrent or erroneous applications installed on my computer that conflicts with Chrome (by typing chrome://conflicts). But "unfortunately" it said that there are no perceived conflicts. First I thought it is only with Chrome, but soon I saw that no. All internet browsers are affected. I noticed this problem after I installed Fruity Loops, but uninstalling it didn't solve the problem. Maybe Fruity loops is not the guilty reason. Have any of you met this problem before? What should I do? Thank you. UPDATE: Sorry I forgot that this is under Windows 8.1.

  The problem is, both Firefox and Internet Explorer have "Open in New Tab" as the second option. This has become muscle memory for me by now, to the point that I don't use as often as I want to, solely because I can't open a page in a new tab without thinking about it. • How to make google Chrome omnibar search sites permanent?

  In google Chrome, when you have visited a site, say wikipedia.com, your can thereafter search the site directly from the omnibar by typing in a few letters then hitting tab. However, I noticed that after I clear my cache, Chrome does not remember the search autofills, and I once again have to visit the site manually for it to take effect. Is there a way to make the omnibar searches permanent even after doing a full cache clear in google Chrome? Thanks. Update: I tried the suggestion below, but bookmarking the site just allowed me to autocomplete the address. It did not allow me the option to hit tab to do the search directly in the omnibar. Any suggestions?

• Client unable to access OWA website after temporarily changing SSL certificate on the server

  I have the following issue: One client computer (Windows XP) cannot access the OWA website. All other client computers can (Except another one in the same remote office). How this happened: I temporarily changed the SSL certificate on the Exchange Server yesterday. After a few minutes, I reverted back, an now the same certificate that was installed for years is back again. During these few minutes, they were in OWA on this computer and got a certificate error. What exactly happens: Internet Explorer displays the error Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage, Firefox displays The connection was reset and Crome shows This webpage is not available. The connection to ... was interrupted. What I already did to try to get this working: Restart the client computer Restart the exchange server Deleted Internet Explorer browsing history In IE, Internet Options, tab Content, under Certificates deletes SSL cache Restored Internet Explorer to the default parameters I looked into certmgr.msc, but did not find a certificate related to the issue What could I do else to narrow down the origin of this problem (or better: resolve it) ? Can you give any advice ?
