    I have a Windows application written in C++ that occasionally evaporates. I use the word evaporate because there is nothing left behind: no "we're sorry" message from Windows, no crash dump from the Dr. Watson facility... On the one occasion the crash occurred under the debugger, the debugger did not break---it showed the application still running. When I manually paused execution, I found that my process no longer had any threads. How can I capture the reason this process is terminating?

In particular, I would like to learn the css properties for <audio> tag, so I can try to customize the look. document.getElementById('myaudio').style returns a CSSStyleDeclaration object but length returns 0 and I cannot figure out to iterate over the key/value pairs.     Here's my model: class Comment < ActiveRecord::Base serialize :request_headers end But when I try to do @comment.request_headers = request.headers I get a TypeError (can't dump anonymous class Class) exception. Another way to ask my question: how can I convert request.headers into a Hash? It uses a Hash under the covers so this should be easy, no?

    I'm looking at a database dump file, and I see many records in various tables with their version number set in values other than 0 (even 94 in one case). I understand it has to do with hibernate locking strategy, but my concern is that today is Sunday, and the site has almost no visitors so is: is this normal ? Or is there a known hibernate bug or even some programming malpractice producing this ?

  • DRY way of calling a method in every rails model

    Along the same lines as this question, I want to call acts_as_reportable inside every model so I can do one-off manual reports in the console in my dev environment (with a dump of the production data). What's the best way to do this? Putting acts_as_reportable if ENV['RAILS_ENV'] == "development" in every model is getting tedious and isn't very DRY at all. Everyone says monkey patching is the devil, but a mixin seems overkill. Thanks!

  • Why does DebugActiveProcessStop crash my debugging app?

    I have a debugging program which I've written to attach to a process and create a crash dump file. That part works fine. The problem I have is that when the debugger program terminates, so does the program that it was debugging. I did some Googling and found the DebugActiveProcessStop() API call. This didn't show up in my older MSDN documentation as it was only introduced in Windows XP so I've tried loading it dynamicall from Kernel32.dll at runtime. Now my problem is that my debugger program crashes as soon as the _DebugActiveProcessStop() call is made.     I have an export from a MYSQL database on a linux machine however when importing that database into MYSQL on windows all of the table names that were camel cased are now all lower case. The sql dump has the correct case in it but the importing via phpmyadmin seams to remove these. How can I import it and keep the case? Thanks

    I have a C# List, that is filled from a database.. So far its only 1400 records, but I expect it to grow a LOT.. Routinely I do a check for new data on the entire list.. What I'm trying to figure out is this, is it faster to simply clear the List and reload all the data from the table, or would checking each record be faster.. Intuition tells me that the dump and load method would be faster, but I thought I should check first...

    I am using gnosis.xml.pickle to convert an object of my own class to xml. The object is initialized so that: self.logger = MyLogger() But when I do dump the object to a string I get an exception stating that the pickler encountered an unpickleable type . Is there a way to 'tag' the logger attribute so that pickler will know not to try and pickle that attribute?

  • How do you search the text of changelist descriptions in Perforce?

    On occasion, I find myself wanting to search the text of changelist descriptions in Perforce. There doesn't appear to be a way to do this in P4V. I can do it by redirecting the output of the changes command to a file... p4 changes -l > p4changes.txt ...(the -l switch tells it to dump the full text of the changelist descriptions) and then searching the file, but this is rather cumbersome. Has anyone found a better way?
