    I wanted to use monotouch, but unfortunately I don't have $400 to spend. So I found xmlvm http://www.xmlvm.org/ and I it seems It can crosscompile .net bytecode to objective c. But, I'm not sure, are there any wrappers? What else would I need to start developing for the iphone using xmlvm??

  • Inline comments for bash?

    I'd like to be able to comment out a single flag in a one-line command. Bash only seems to have `from # till end-of-line' comments. I'm looking at tricks like: ls -l $([ ] && -F is turned off) -a /etc It's ugly, but better than nothing. Anybody has any better suggestions?

  • drawing images and lines over UIScrollView

    I'm programming an app in which one of the ViewControllers is showing an UIScrollView that shows an image. I'd like to load an image (pushpin in png format) and draw it (and delete it) in some points of the UIScrollView image. I'd also would like to draw bezier paths in that image (and deleting them). I've programmed several apps but this is the first time I face graphic programming and don't know where to start from. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hi Folks, Is there any problem with keeping member variable pointer refernces to COM objects and reussing the reference through out the class in C++. Is anybody aware of a reason why you would want to call .CreateInstance every time you wanted a to use the COM object i.e. you were getting a fresh instance each time. I cannot see any reason who you would want to do this, Thanks, (No is an acceptable answer!!!)

    How many databases are needed for a social website? I have my tech team working on developing a social site but all their tables are in 1 database. I wanted to create separate table sets for user data, temporary tables, etc and thinking maybe have one separate database only for critical data, etc but I am not a tech person and now sure how this works?     Actually I want to serialize my data using Google's java implementation and then deserialize using C# implementation? I have chosen portobuf-net as it seems to be more stable (porto# is still v0.9 or I would have gone for it). Before I start working on it I wanted to be sure that I can achieve this (serializing data using java implementation and deserializing it using potobuf-net). Or is there any list of methods that are specific to portobuf-net implementation?

    I'm looking for a free visual editor for a language that would compile to native windows exe, no runtime. I'm looking for alternatives to the Delphi suite (so don't give it as an answer), something that would allow me to write Windows GUI applications with ease. I don't care about the language, as long as it gets the job done, but I would appreciate if your suggestions avoid functional languages. Even better if it abstracts the windowing system with something more simple than the winAPI.

  • A feature rich JavaScript IDE environment?

    I'm currently using Visual Studio 2008 to edit .js files with, and it has decent support but I want more... I like the VS syntax highlighting and auto-indentation features but additionally would like advanced features like: contextual info and help, collapsible JavaScript blocks, implicit symbol understanding for searching, refactoring and that kind of thing; also warnings and errors for the js code. Suggestions?
