    In Windows there is a place under the Control Panel called Get Programs and Install a program from the network (in Win 7 at least), possibly a slightly different name in Vista, but it was there too. The question is basically: How do you publish programs to that so users can go there and install? Bonus follow up: Is it a good way to deploy optional programs? (Compared to using GPO's.) In Windows 7 you can go to Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features, and on the left hand menu: Install a program from the network.

  • Decreasing lagging on router, while gaming

    I had absolutely no idea where to post this question and get a professional answer for it but here goes... Okay, so I guess everyone whos is reading this had played online, and so I was playing LoL again tonight and my brother decided that now was a great time to go on youtube and start watching a movie, so my ping (connecting from South Africa to EU west server) is around 190-220 average, however it started spiking to 2000 and average was 600-800, so it arised the question, how ther hell can I "kick" him off for the time being I tried reasoning it out with him but its like playing chess with a pigeon, he's studying to be an engineer, and I just cant win an argument with him, so i need to step it up a level... I have in the past used the aireplay method by sending deauth packets but it only helped so much, is there another way of either kicking a peer of the local wifi or decreasing the lag spikes while in session or even splitting the bandwidth equally in 2 or 3,etc What do I do p.s. sorry if off topic, if it is not appropriate, just say which website will be able to help or assist me...

    I've an TL-WN951N (AR5416+AR5008) using ath9k module running an hostapd and a dhcp for it. So hostapd starts fine: $ hostapd wifi.test Configuration file: wifi.test Using interface int1 with hwaddr f4:ec:38:9b:d4:93 and ssid 'test' hostapd.conf: interface=int1 driver=nl80211 ssid=test channel=1 But nobody seems to find it or being able to see it or connect to it by setting BSSID to 'test'. I'm quite frustrated now, I find 'howto' after 'howto' from people with same chipsets and it always seemed to work out great for them - but not here... iw list even shows up the AP mode being present at the interface...   • Using wifi router as bridge to increase signal?

    A friend of mine lives in an appartment building whose structure is such that wifi signal is very weak. Even a USB key won't work. I was thinking of buying an entry-level wifi router and reconfigure it as a bridge to act as repeater. Would that increase the chance of getting a good signal, or I shouldn't bother? If experience shows that it does improve things significantly, is their another router I should look at besides the Linux-based Linksys models? Thank you.

  • Can a virtual mikrotik box bridge a hyper-v internal network with a hyper-v external network?

    I am trying to set up a Mikrotik router as a transparent firewall on my network. I got the machine working on a hardware MT box, but my boss wants the MT virtualized. I have been trying the set up where my virtual windows box talks to the Mikrotik via private or internal network on the Hyper-V host. I can get the two machines to talk, but as soon as I set up a bridge on the MT, all traffic ceases between the two. Is it possible to create a bridge for this purpose (having the MT silently in front of my firewalled server)? I could really use some help.

  • fstab mount after network initialization

    I'm automatically mounting a NFS with fstab. Sometimes the mount fails because the hostname of the NFS mount cannot be resolved (getaddrinfo failed). I'm assuming that this happens because the network initialization is slower than the mounts. Is there any way to initialize the network before mounting any devices? I'm already using _netdev as a mount option but this does not help.   • Turn my machine in a hotspot/proxy

    My workplace does not provide a wifi... only wired connection... but my machine has a working wifi card... is there a way to "bridge" my wired connection, making my iphone connect to it and use it as if the own machine is being used?   • Ethernet 802.1x client -> WiFi AP on a Raspberry Pi?

    I have an Ethernet connection that requires 802.1x authentication (TTLS, MSCHAPv2, name+password). My goal is to connect that to something that would then act as an WiFi AP, so I can use the connection on more devices (iPhone, notebook, etc.) Would it be possible/good idea to use Raspberry Pi for this purpose? Or are there better-suited devices to do this? EDIT: found some alternatives but because of low rep can't post more than two links... OpenWRT + wpa_supplicant guide Carambola - works with OpenWRT (but probably not standalone?) Hornet-UB - works with OpenWRT Asus RT-N10+ + OpenWRT how-to EDIT 2: probably going to try TP-LINK TL-WR740N. It's a classic router, but can be flashed with OpenWRT, and the price beats everything else I've seen.

    I have One Server (Srv1) which holds data with file shares and the storage is full. Now I have second Server (Srv2) which has alot more space. No I would like to transfer all the data von Serv1 to Serv2 and have links to the new destination. I found mklink very useful here but unfortunately it does not work over the network. Which also points the docu out. People heavily rely on the path's so it would be helpful if somone has a pointer for me... how to handle symbolic links a cross the network with Windows Servers.   • Wi-fi signal with keeping the internet cable

    So the situation is that I have Ethernet cable which provides internet to my computer. Thing I want is to have wi-fi connection in my house and Ethernet cable (like I have before) to use for my PC. I will use wi-fi for my laptop and mobile phone. I think I need router for that and I'm looking at Asus RT-N16 (suggested in Coding Horror) for it, but I am not sure. Is it the right thing for me and I will be able to get wi-fi signal and keep the Ethernet cable? I guess the system will be that current cable goes into router, router provides wi-fi signal and gives back new cable... or something like that. Thanks in any advice!   • Laptop is super slow on network

    So on our network we have a bunch of wireless macs and window Operating laptops, we have a network setup with 802.11g,b,n. All the laptops seem fine except one which is only getting speeds of 54Mb. I have changed the encryption from AES to TKIP and reset the connection, i have updated the drivers, tried plugging it into the LAN and still same slow speed. Apparently the laptop with the slow speed is fine on other networks. I don't know what to do, can anyone help me?

  • How can I use mobile network account at server so home sync works

    I would like to be able to use a mobile network account while sitting at my server. I had os x server 10.6 running on a mac mini server but recently got a new quad core iMac and want to take advantage of the extra power. My problem - I can sit at the server and log into the mobile network account but can not get it to sync back. When I attempt to sync it get error message that the afp share point is unavailable and that the files are hosted locally. My goal is to be able to use the new iMac as the server and set a user account so that it remains synced so when the account is accessed from other clients, particularly my macbook pro. Is mobile account the best route? Would an external account be a better option. Any advice or ideas of where to read up on this would be much appreciated.

  • Netgear genie says my Internet is off, while Windows claims I am connected

    I'm connected via wifi to my ISP's router/modem. While Windows says that I'm always connected, I keep getting messages from Netgear Genie that I've lost contact to the Internet, and I cannot access webpages until it comes back. There are two other computers in the house, one connected to the router via ethernet, the other via wifi, both seem to have no such problems. I've wondered if Netgear genie itself was the problem, but I am regularly disconnected even if I uninstall it. And I'd rather have it since it accurently tells me if I'm connected or not. Why does windows says I'm online if I can't access any online game, or website ? Is "netgear genie" the problem ? I've removed the connection, recreated it, I've even copied the settings to a usb key from the computer that has wifi access.

  • Slowness on Exchange 2007 Server (network related we think)

    We are seeing some odd behavior out of our exchange 2007 server. I believe it is network related as during the slowness in response from the exchange server. During these times downloading files to server is fraught with connection resets and extreme slow download speeds that are not affecting other servers right on the same subnet with the same gateway and ISP. We have about 50 users at a time using Outlook 2003 from a terminal server not displaying any other signs of slowness, all network slowness is confirmed trying downloads on the exchange server itself. Checked for virus issues, there are none. Checked for hardware issues, none found I am noticing between 200-400 TCPv4 connections established I am seeing around 100k tcpv4(active) connections according to perfmon are these numbers odd? Has anyone run into anything similar? Our server has a gigbabit NIC linked to a gigabit switch using cat6 so I do not believe it is "physical". Thanks!

    I have two VMs in my VirtualBox. Both are FreeBSD and should communicate between each other. I have created network with DHCP enabled and set like this: Server Address 10.10.10.1 Server Mask 255.255.255.0 Lower Address Bound 10.10.10.100 Upper Address Bound 10.10.10.200 My VMs are pinging each other and getting right ip adress. This is what I must have and can´t change. Now I want to access internet from one VM and I found that I must use two network cards but I don´t know how to set the second one. I am new with VirtualBox and this stuff so if you count with this in you answer I would appreciate that. And I have Windows 8 as host system if it´s matter.

  • Looking for a router with multiple WAN ports and load balancing

    I'm going to be moving in a few months. The location I'm moving to is great except it's on a road with very few people, so the internet access option is limited to DSL at 1.6Mbps down, 384kbps up. This is much slower than I'm used to. One option is to get at least two of the DSL lines. There's also good possibility that I'll be able to get WiMax or similar. I've been looking around a bit and it seems like what I need is a load balancing router with multiple WAN ports. Can anyone recommend some good ones? I could also go with a small power efficient Linux box with multiple NICs. What would be good software for that? It'd need to be able to handle around 10Mbps. Thanks for any help

With that I wasn't able to send emails in bulk in cases like "newsletters" and "invitations to join my site". Plus most importantly most of the mails I send ended up in user's SPAM list.I'm planning to move into VPS as it may not have limits added. I'm wondering what's the cheapest VPS host available.     Hi all, here's my case, I have set up a share in a virtual windows server 2008 R2, the server is hosted by GoDaddy my question is, how do I access the server's public folders, I need to open a file locally (on the client) and to do that I need the server to show up in my Network locations, I have the right credentials and have created a special group that has access to the particular folder that I'm sharing the problem is I don't know how to add the server to my network locations. I have tried VPN Connection but it is my understanding that it cannot be done since it is virtual share server. Any help is trully appreciated.

  • Allowing access to MPD from local network

    I have successfully installed MPD (Music Player Daemon) on my desktop computer. Everything works fine when the client runs on the same machine as the server. Now I would like to access MPD from my laptop computer which is connected (wirelessly) to the local network. In order to allow access to MPD from any computer on the local network I have added this line to /etc/hosts.allow: mpd: .local and restarted MPD. Still I get the message "error: Connection refused" when I try to access MPD with MPC (Music Player Client) from my laptop. Any clues or troubleshooting hints?

  • How to toggle wifi / bluetooth in Macbook Air with Windows 7 installed

    I'm writing this on a MacBook Air 13" (the ones just released), but I have a problem. BootCamp provides no easy way of turning off the bluetooth or wifi radios, and nor are there any hotkey combinations on the keyboard, nor any hard or soft switches on the body to toggle these radios. As I'll be travelling a lot with this machine, what's the best way for me to comply with the cabin service crews' instructions and disable the radios before takeoff, and reenable them after landing?
