• Why do child elements cause 'dropleave' to be called (drag-n-drop file upload)?

  I have a HTML5 drag-n-drop script that allows users to drop files in #droparea. The #droparea div has child elements that are also div elements. <div id="droparea"> <div id="showif_no_dragover">Drag files here!</div> <div id="showif_dragover">Drop the files!</div> </div> The associated javascript/jquery is: var droptarget = "#droparea"; $(droptarget).live('dragenter', dragEnter); $(droptarget).live('dragleave', dragExit); $(droptarget).live('dragover', nothing); $(droptarget).live('drop', dropGo); (Side question: should I use .live(), .on() or .bind() here?) I have created a sample jsFiddle with some additional code here: http://jsfiddle.net/PwFr9/3/ If you look at the console, you will notice that as you drag a file within #droparea, dragenter() and dragleave() are called multiple times, even though the drag is still inside #droparea. If you remove the child elements (#child1 and #child2), the problem is gone because the child elements are gone. How can I keep the child elements and prevent them from messing up the drag events? I have searched Stackoverflow and Google for hours without much help. I found this questions here at Stackoverflow: How to keep child elements from interfering with HTML5 dragover and drop events? I don't know why it works, though. I have tried placing 2 div elements on top of each other (via CSS positioning). The top-most div has the drag events attached whereas the bottom-most div has the child elements. I do not like this approach because it doesn't work with the rest of my page and does not allow mouse-click interaction with the bottom-most div. Any help is appreciated! Thank you in advance. • Multiple children in single form in rails

  I have a model that has an arbitrary number of children entities. For simplicity lets call the entities Orders and Items. I would like to have a create Orders form where I input the order information, as well as add as many items as I want. If I click the "Add another item" button, a new set of form elements will be added to input the new data, amounts, etc.. I could hack this out in pure javascript, but I'm pretty sure there has to be a more magical, railsish way to do it, maybe with a partial view or something. I'm just a little too new to rails to know what it is. What is the best way to dynamically add the new form elements, and then to access them in the create controller?

  I have an object called MyItem that references children in the same item. Perhaps I need to create another class, say MyItemChildren and use that as the Children member and then do the mapping in that class? This would mean having two tables. One table holds the MyItem and the other table holds references from my item. NOTE: A child item could have many parents.

The following explains why I need such a ListenerEX class, if you already know what it is, you don't need to read the following. In particolar there are three classes: menus, submenus and submenuitems. The relationships about three classes are: one menu - to many submenus one submenu - to many submenuitems. All classes have a boolean attribute called "Active". Now, i want to filter all the Menus with the SubMenus active, and the SubMenus with the SubMenuItems active.   Hello. I am designing a 960px wide layout with an unordered list. Each list item is 240px wide, so 4 list items fit horizontally in a row. I have about 20 rows on the page.... I want every other list item to have a background of #ececec, so my css would be: ul li:nth-child(2n+2){ background-color:#ececec; } This works. The only problem is because there are 4 items in a row (an even #), the next row would be identical, thus rendering background colors on every 1st and 3rd list items in a row. This is not the effect I am looking to achieve. I want the background colors to alternate, creating a grid-like effect. What is the correct css to do so (think a checker board). Thanks!

  I've been trying to learn Action Script 3 the past few weeks, making tiny interactive games to learn the basics. I stumble upon a problem every now and then but most of the times google helps me out. But this problem has got me stuck so please help: The main stage contains two objects(movieclips), the player and a wall. The player has got his own code so when I drag in the player object I don't have to write any code into the main stage to be able to move the player. This all worked pretty well and I now wanted to add the wall so the player actually has something to bounce into. Now here is the problem, I want to check if the player touches the wall, I've done this before but that was when I used the main stage as my coding playground instead of putting the code in movieclips. How can I check if the player hits the wall within the movement code of the player object?

• codeigniter and OOP general question regarding calling functions, and the parent constuctor

  Ok so I have some gaps in my understanding of PHP OOP, classes and functions specifically, this whole constructor class deal. I use both Zend and CI but right now Im trying to figure this out in CI as it is less complicated. So all Im trying to do is understand how to call a function from a view page in code igniter. I understand that might go against MVC but Im working with an api and search results not from my database, so basically, I want to define a function in my class that I am able to call in one of my view pages.. and I keep getting "Fatal error: Call to undefined function functionname" error no matter what I try. I thought I just had to declare public function testing() { echo "testing testing 123; } but calling that from the view I get that error. Then I read something about having to go parent::Controller(); in the index of the class where the testing function also resides? But that didnt work either. Anyways, ya, can someone explain what I need to do in order to call the "testing()" function on one of my view pages? and clarification on the constructor class and what exactly parent::Controller() even does, would be much appreciated as well.

  Guys, I was wondering if it was possible to create new parent, children in a has many relationship, using rails nested forms. Rails documentation clearly says that this works in a one to one relationship. Not sure if its the same in has many relationship. For example: If params = { :employee => { :name => "Tester", :account_attributes => {:login => 'tester'} } } works as one to one relationship. So Employee.new(params) works fine. New employee, account are created. Supposing I had params = { :employee => { :name => "Tester", :account_attributes => { "0" => {:login => 'tester'}, "1" => {:login => 'tester2'} } } } Employee.new(params) doesnt work. It fails on child validations saying parent cant be blank. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Karen

  I am trying to add an attribute when using a wysiwyg editor that uses "createLink" command. I thought it would be trivial to get back the node that is created after the browse executes that command. Turns out, I am only able to grab this newly created node in IE. Any ideas? • Treeview does not refresh to show childnode moved from one parent node to another

  I am using the Windows Forms TreeView class which contains a set of TreeNodes. The TreeNodes can have child nodes. I have a root node with 2 sub nodes (Node1 and Node2) Node1 has 2 subnodes (child1 and child2) I have a function that will allow a user to select any node and move it to another node: TreeNode SelectNode = this.TreeView1.SelectedNode; TreeNode DestNode = SelectedNewNode(); //function to select a new node SelectedNode.Remove(); DestNode.Nodes.Add(SelectedNode); this.TreeView1.Refresh(); When this executes, the current selected node (child2) is removed from its current parent (Node1) and added to Node2. However, the Refresh() method of the TreeView control does not show that child2 is under Node2. If I debug it and look at the Nodes collection in the TreeView i do see that child2 is under Node2. Can anyone tell me why the Refresh() method does not redraw the new parent to child mapping? Is there a way to tell the TreeView to redraw with the new mappings?

• iPhone sdk Cocoa Touch - Pass touches down from parent UIView to child UIScrollview

  I have a UIView inside my xib in IB and inside that is a UIScrollview that is a small 80x80 square and dynamically loaded with 8 or so 80 x 80 thumbnail images. The UIScrollview is not clipping the images so that they extend out either side so you can swipe left and right to scroll a chosen image into the the centre, paging is on so they snap ti each image. I have researched and found this is the best and possibly only way to do this. The UIScrollview sits in a 'container' UIView for one reason, it is there to receive the touches/swipes and pass them down to it's child the UIScrollview as otherwise all touches would have to start in the small 80x80 UIScrollview area and I wan them to be anywhere along the row of images. I have seen some sample code somewhere for doing this but just can not implement it. Treat me as a noob, starting from beginning to end, how should the UIView and UIScrollview be set up in IB to allow any touches to be passed, and what code should I put into where? The UIView is set up as scroll_container and the child UIScrollview is char_scroll At the moment I have got it all working except for the touches being passed from the parent to the child, and at the moment the touches have to always start inside the UIScrollview (tiny 80x80 box in centre) when I want to be able to swipe left or right in the long 480X80 horizontal parent UIView and have this still scroll the child UIScrollview. Hope you can help and understand what I mean!

• Ajax call to parent window after form submission

  Hi all, Pardon the complicated title. Here's my situation: I'm working on a Grails app, and using jQuery for some of the more complex UI stuff. The way the system is set up, I have an item, which can have various files (user-supplied) associated with it. On my Item/show view, there is a link to add a file. This link pops up a jQuery modal dialog, which displays my file upload form (a remote .gsp). So, the user selects the file and enters a comment, and when the form is submitted, the dialog gets closed, and the list of files on the Item/show view is refreshed. I was initially accomplishing this by adding onclick="javascript:window.parent.$('#myDialog').dialog('close');" to my submit button. This worked fine, but when submitting some larger files, I end up with a race condition where the dialog closes and the file list is refreshed before the new file is saved, and so the list of files is out of date (the file still gets saved properly). So my question is, what is the best way to ensure that the dialog is not closed until after the form submit operation completes? I've tried using the <g:formRemote tag in Grails, and closing the dialog in the "after" attribute (according to the Grails docs, the script is called after form submission), but I receive an error (taken from FireBug) stating that window.parent.$('#myDialog').dialog is not a function Is this a simple JavaScript/Grails syntax issue that I'm missing here, or am I going about this entirely wrong?   Hi, I'm trying to build a navigation system using categories table with hierarchies. Normally, the table would be defined as follows: id (int) - Primary key name (varchar) - Name of the Category parentid (int) - Parent ID of this Category referenced to same table (Self Join) But the catch is that I require that a category can be child to multiple parent categories.. Just like a Has and Belongs to Many (HABTM) relation. I know that if there are two tables, categories & items, we use a join table categories_items to list the HABTM relations. But here i'm not having two tables but only table but should somehow show HABTM relations to itself. Is this be possible using a single table? If yes, How? If not possible, what rules (table naming, fields) should I follow while creating the additional join table? I'm trying to achieve this using CakePHP, If someone can provide CakePHP solution for this problem, that would be awesome. Even if that's not possible, any solution about creating join table is appreciated. Thanks for your time.

• Child sProc cannot reference a Local temp table created in parent sProc

  On our production SQL2000 instance, we have a database with hundreds of stored procedures, many of which use a technique of creating a #TEMP table "early" on in the code and then various inner stored procedures get EXECUTEd by this parent sProc. In SQL2000, the inner or "child" sProc have no problem INSERTing into #TEMP or SELECTing data from #TEMP. In short, I assume they can all refer to this #TEMP because they use the same connection. In testing with SQL2008, I find 2 manifestations of different behavior. First, at design time, the new "intellisense" feature is complaining in Management Studio EDIT of the child sProc that #TEMP is an "invalid object name". But worse is that at execution time, the invoked parent sProc fails inside the nested child sProc. Someone suggested that the solution is to change to ##TEMP which is apparently a global temporary table which can be referenced from different connections. That seems too drastic a proposal both from the amount of work to chase down all the problem spots as well as possible/probable nasty effects when these sProcs are invoked from web applications (i.e. multiuser issues). Is this indeed a change in behavior in SQL2005 or SQL2008 regarding #TEMP (local temp tables)? We skipped 2005 but I'd like to learn more precisely why this is occuring before I go off and try to hack out the needed fixes. Thanks.

• Drag/drop problem (draggable in position:relative parent)

  Here's the scenario, I'm using prototype and scriptaculous, but I believe jquery would have the same issue. I have a list draggable images in a relatively positioned div. The problem is I can't drag the images out of the parent div... well... you can, they're just not visible. If you remove the position:relative on the parent div, it works just fine, I can drag items out of the div perfectly. However because of this little IE7 bug: http://snook.ca/archives/html%5Fand%5Fcss/position%5Frelative%5Foverflow%5Fie/ that position:relative is required. IS there another work around to this bug that does not require setting position? I've tried playing with z-index and everything I can think of to no avail.
