• Monitor aspect ratio; Does the difference matter?

  So, I'm looking ordering myself a new development desktop soon and setting up a PROPER office environment by the end of this year. To boost productivity, I'm going to purchase three new monitors. I find that two just isn't enough when I'm debugging or doing something intensive. That said, I had something pointed out to me the other day that I never really noticed nor cared about before - is the difference between a 16:10 and a 16:9 monitor noticeable when programming? Do you really miss those few extra lines, or is it something that you don't notice at all. I notice HP only seems to sell 16:9 monitors (as far as I have found). Is this becoming something of a new standard with the recent growth and cleaver marketing of of "HD 16:9"? To summarize: Has anybody made the switch from 16:10 to 16:9 (or vise-versa) and actually noticed the difference while programming?

• Does google see the output of document.write?

  I've got a site where people can list machinery for sale. Each item for sale has it's own dynamic page. On each of these pages we allow the person selling the item to have a link back to their own website. Some people only sell a handful of items and some people are selling dozens or hundreds of items. So in some cases we can have a 100 links back to their external site. Our SEO guy is saying this is bad (i'll open another question on that). So i was wondering if i take the links and spit them out using document.write, will that hide them from google and the other SE's ?

  I'm looking to register a few more domains for my company, I have my-company.com at the moment, but now require my-company.com.au and my-company.nl and some others.. I'm running through my options and wondering what is the best.. Duplicate all the content on the .com package and make a replica at the other domains Buy the other domains but do a 301 redirect back to the .com domain. Create a full new website with different content for the new domains, thus having no text duplication We currently sell over the world so would like to raise our Search rankings in various countries, can this be done by buying the domain in the country, and if so, how will the above methods affect our search rankings. • How come ASUS sells Ubuntu installed 1225Cs, when we dont have drivers for gma3600?

  I recently purchased a ASUS 1225C cedar trail netbook. It didn't come preinstalled with Ubuntu like it comes in some markets. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on it. While Ubuntu works just fine, I am bothered by the lack of proper graphics support because of intel gma 3600. I am aware that this is not a problem of Ubuntu. My question is this: How does ASUS manage to sell these netbooks in other markets with Ubuntu preinstalled? How does ASUS manage to get everything to work? And if they can, why aren't I able to do the same? link: For more on Asus 1225C As you can see, they show Ubuntu working perfectly in the screenshots. Is this false advertising?

  Paraphrasing a recent question: What is Object Oriented Programming ill-suited for? I would like to ask the opposite question: What kind of programs cannot be written unless you use OOP? What kind of programs are not recommended to be written using non-OOP techniques? What kind of programs need OOP in order to even be written? What kind of programs would be too hard to write without OOP ? The answer to this question can help sell the idea of OOP to project leaders that have no special interest in code quality. At least they could buy the idea if one shows them the kind of things that are not even possible unless you use OOP.

  I would like to put a program together to calculate the number of 60' pieces would be needed from a list of shorter pieces. For example, I sell rebar cut to length from our standard length of 60'-0". Now the length the customer requires are as follows: 343 pc @ 12.5' 35 pc @ 13' 10 pc @ 15' 63 pc @ 15.5'....... There are 56 total lengths ranging from 12.5' to 30.58' The idea is to limit the amount of waste from the 60' piece. The input from the user would be: number of differnt lengths Length of piece to cut from count of different lengths The result would be the number of prime pieces needed to fulfill the order. What well-known algorithms exist that could help me solve this problem?

  I've been working on a top secret project that has potential of becoming very popular. No one has done anything like it. The problem is I have no motivation to finish it, and its about 70% done. I also don't have the ability to sell & market the product. The documentation is a pain to write. I just want to finish the project , receive my reward and move on to other things.   My customer, a translations business owner, just told me that he has been reading about Ruby on Rails and told me that "there are more PHP guys around there" and "it seems the community prefers it". I know there are the regulars like AdSense, DoubleClick, etc but the client wants the ability to sell of sections of the website to specific advertisers for specific campaigns.
