• 32bit dll not loading with Enable 32 Bit Applications on IIS 7.5

  I have a MVC 3 Web Site referencing a 32 bit DLL. The OS is Windows 2008 R2 x64. The website is in the ASP.NET 4 App Pool. I have turned on Enable32Bit but it doesn't work. I get a Bad Image Exception but can't find out to turn this level of logging on in IIS. I have setup up a page that outputs whether it's running 32bit or 64bit and when I turn on/off the Enable32Bit on the AppPool I get the correct output. The website is also in Full Trust. I'm at a loss to try and and get it to work. I do know that it works on Win7 32bit. Can you suggest some things to try? UPDATE: I have just written a simple Windows Forms App with a button on it which calls my DLL. This was built with target of x86 and it worked fine so there is an issue with IIS or ASP.Net I think. UPDATE 2: Does it matter if the ASP.Net Pipeline is Clasic or Integrated? I've tried both but same problem but thought it was worth asking UPDATE 3: I found this question trying to do the same thing and he gave up which isnt too helpful!!

• Changing SkyDrive default location on Windows 8.1

  Update: This issue is due to the use of any non-local location for the SkyDrive folder. I've currently worked around this by using a local folder, but this has not resolved the original problem. I am trying to change the location where SkyDrive is located in Windows 8.1. This is the newly integrated SkyDrive, and not a downloadable client. There are a couple of similar questions on this site, but they pertain to Windows 8 and 8.1 Preview: Changing the SkyDrive default path in Windows 8.1 (Windows 8.1 Preview) How do I change the SkyDrive default folder in Windows (Windows 8) The SkyDrive folder is a system folder in 8.1, and like other system folders, has a Location tab in its properties that theoretically lets you change its location. I was able to do this with other system folders such as Downloads and Pictures, but there is an error when I try to change this for SkyDrive. Edit: The location that causes this error is a mapped network drive. The error does not occur when trying to move SkyDrive to another location on the same drive. There are no permission restrictions on the mapped network drive. • Magical moving desktop icons

  I have encountered a very strange behavior in Windows 7 that I cannot seem to identify and I have never seen or heard of on any system configuration. Whenever I move my mouse to the left-most edge of my primary display (centered in 3-display setup), my desktop icons magically move away from the cursor (up or down and to the right). It only happens when my desktop has focus and the mouse is positioned on the left, top or bottom edge of the main display. Moving the mouse all the way to the right edge of my right secondary display causes the mouse icons to snap back into their correct position. Ridiculous video of the issue My setup is 3 displays on two display adapters. The main display is running at 2560x1600, connected to the machine via a USB-powered DVI-D to DisplayPort adapter and is driven by an NVIDIA NVS 3100M video card. The secondary displays are running at 1440x900 and 1200x1920 and are driven by integrated Intel HD Graphics (mobile). It seems like some kind of panning behavior, but it's obviously not working as expected. I have updated all of my drivers, but no change. It's probably worth noting that the desktop icons are set to auto-arrange.

• Pulling application updates from closest server?

  Setup: 6 Major Sites with Server 2003/2008 DCs doing DHCP/AD Integrated DNS, each on their own subnet. All connect back to datacenter through a 3 mbps WAN ERP server running in the datacenter, accessed by clients at all sites Currently, when we update the software, I manually push a copy of the updated client/config files down to each DC. I have a script that we run on each PC to update the clients. It determines what subnet the PC is on, and pulls the software from that DC. It's messy, but it works. The client has an autoupdate feature, but it'll only pull from the application server (which is housed in the datacenter, over the 3 meg link). It takes forever, since the updates are not "patches" but a full version of the client, even for minor upgrades (bad design). After the most recent patch, you can configure the clients to pull from a different server. Unfortunately, it is the same for all clients. Is there some kind of DNS magic I can use to pull from the local server? For instance, if I tell the clients their update server is ERPUPDATE, can I have their local DNS server return a different IP for ERPUPDATE than the other sites? Example: Client 1 is at site A, client 2 is at site b. They each run the software and a version change is detected. As per the config files, the clients look to ERPUPDATE for their updated client. Client 1 queries DNS for the IP of ERPUPDATE at its current location (site A) DNS at site A returns 192.1.1.5 Client 1 pulls update from 192.1.1.5 Client 2 queries DNS for the IP of ERPUPDATE at its current location (site B) DNS at site B returns 192.1.2.5 Client 2 pulls update from 192.1.2.5 Excuse the poor explanation, I worked 61 hours over the weekend and haven't completely rebounded. I'll be happy to clarify if needed!

• credit or minclass does not work well with pam_cracklib.so in common-password (opeSuSe 11.3)

  I'm trying to implement password complexities on my pdc. It's a samba PDC with openLDAP backend. I tried cracklib-check but it looks like that I should have a decent and localize version of password library since the library out there usually comes in english. I also have another consideration that we will allow users to use any kind of password - even though it's dictionary based - as long as their passwords integrated with low/upper alphabet, digits, and other characters such as '$' or '_' (pam_cracklib.so calls them as classes). So here is my /etc/pam.d/common-password: #password requisite pam_pwcheck.so nullok cracklib password requisite pam_cracklib.so minclass=4 reject_username ##password requisite pam_cracklib.so \ ## dcredit=-1 ucredit=-1 lcredit=-1 ocredit=-1 reject_username password optional pam_gnome_keyring.so use_autht_ok password required pam_unix2.so use_authtok nullok The first commented line (with #) was the default configuration of openSuse 11.3. The 2nd/3rd (with leading ##) is another configuration I use when minclass=4 line is commented out. By the way, I have 'check password script' = /usr/local/sbin/crackcheck -d /usr/share/cracklib/pw_dict and passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://127.0.0.1 parameters in smb.conf and cracklib-check works fine too. So here is the test I conduct. I logon to windows and then change my password. Sometimes it works fine that it trows error message - which what I wanted, but simple password with only lower alphabets can pass windows change password. Maybe I should make a new library which incorporates local vocabularies, but a guy out there (raise your hand please if you read this :) ) also experienced the same trouble with english word. Besides, what we really want is to let user to choose 2 or 3 format password out of 4 classes. Is there a bug or something with pam module in openSuse 11.3? Thank you in advance. Regards, Mario

  I recently purchased an Intel D2700 MUD motherboard and I cannot find drivers for the Win7 x64 integrated graphics (Intel GMA 3650 aka PowerVR sgs545). The accompanying CD contains Win7 x32 version only. When I run it I got an error: This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. I tried to use online utility Intel Driver Update Utility Graphics. I used Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer without success. First, UAC prompt appear, and then endlessly spinning progress-bar with text "Analyzing computer...". The text in UAC prompt is: Program file name: System Requirements Lab Verified publisher: Husdawg, LLC I downloaded this utility (intel_srldetect_4.5.5.0) and started it from my hard disk. I got an error: A network error occured while attempting to read from the file: C:\Users\Loom\Downloads\SystemRequirementsLab_intel_4.5.5.0.msi Standard VGA driver works for this video card but without hardware acceleration: Hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by your video card driver, which could slow game performance. Make sure you have the latest video card driver installed and that hardware acceleration is turned on. Where I can get appropriate driver?

• Linux Distro - GUI similar to Windows

  I am in the process of refurbing several older laptop machines for use by a couple college guys we have in training to learn basic web development in python. These are students who intern at my company and are hoping to do some work when the summer comes building simple client-oriented webapps (learning the basics of OOP, MVC webapp design in flask, etc.). We're trying to function as the "practical" side of their education. I would like to get them set up on these machines we have sitting about, but I'd like to use a linux distro that would have a gui that closely approximates what they are being compelled to use at school (windows.) I don't really have much of a preference as far as GUI goes since much of what we'll be learning together is accomplished on the command line. I just see this as an easier adjustment for them while they are still reliant on a graphical environment. In the past I'd go straight for Ubuntu, but since they started using the Unity GUI the responsiveness overall can be pretty clunky on older machines, especially since these machines (there are four of them) run the gambit on specs (though all are at least 1.0Ghz and none have anything better than basic integrated video.) Has anyone had to setup a similar working environment in Mint, bare Debian or Zorin? Thanks.

• New AD user request form and workflow

  I'm wondering if anyone is providing a solid solution for creating New Network User Account Request forms, and attaching workflows to them to automate account creation? I'm currently investigating a number of options, but am surprised that such a ubiquitous task hasn't been solved a dozen times over and thoroughly documented. Or at least isn't integrated into current off-the-shelf change management and ticketing systems. Ideally, I'd like for our current ticketing system, ServiceDesk+ to present a standard 'New User' form to department heads, which they can fill in with the required new user details. This triggers a workflow that submits the request as a ticket that can be reviewed and actioned. Actioning the ticket triggers a workflow that creates a user in AD with the details provided, and notifies the department head upon completion. All told, a pretty standard requirement that I'm sure most organizations have. What are other people doing to accomplish this? Edit: I should add, I'm more looking for "supported" methods. As is, I've submitted a number of scripted solutions, none of which have met with manager approval.

• Removing HttpModule for specific path in ASP.NET / IIS 7 application?

  Most succinctly, my question is whether an ASP.NET 4.0 app running under IIS 7 integrated mode should be able to honor this portion of my Web.config file: <location path="auth/windows"> <system.webServer> <modules> <remove name="FormsAuthentication"/> </modules> </system.webServer> </location> I'm experimenting with mixed mode authentication (Windows and Forms). Using IIS Manager, I've disabled Anonymous authentication to auth/windows/winauth.aspx, which is within the location path above. I have Failed Request Tracing set up to trace various HTTP status codes, including 302s. When I request the winauth.aspx page, a 302 HTTP status code is returned. If I look at the request trace, I can see that a 401 (unauthorized) was originally generated by the AnonymousAuthenticationModule. However, the FormsAuthenticationModule converts that to a 302, which is what the browser sees. So it seems as though my attempt to remove that module from the pipeline for pages in that path isn't working. But I'm not seeing any complaints anywhere (event viewer, yellow pages of death, etc.) that would indicate it's an invalid configuration. I want the 401 returned to the browser, which presumably would include an appropriate WWW-Authenticate header. A few other points: a) I do have <authentication mode="Forms"> in my Web.config, and that is what the 302 redirects to; b) I got the "name" of the module I'm trying to remove from the inetserv\config\applicationHost.config file; c) I have this element in my Web.config file: <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="false">; d) I tried a <location> element for the path in which I set the authentication mode to "None", but that gave a yellow exception page that the property can't be set below the application level. Anyone had any luck removing modules in this fashion?

• How can you exclude folders from appearing in the Recent Items feature of Windows 7 start menu?

  to be clear, I like the 'recent items' feature. I do not want to turn it off. I work at a law firm where we integrate Office with a document management system (DMS). If recent items are turned on, those DMS opened documents will show up in the recent items of a Windows 7 start menu when hovering over Word (or Excel\PPT etc). However the integration doesn't work correctly so if a user were to click on one of those, something wouldn't work right. In short, we've always needed to turn off Recent Items completely for a DMS integrated workstation. Curious if anyone knows of a way to exclude a directory from being "captured" so to speak. When you open a DMS document, the file gets copied to local directory where it saves it as you work, until you close and it checks it back in to the DMS. I'd like to be able to exclude that local directory from recent items. so local files in My Docs and Desktop would show up in recent items, but not DMS opened documents. Hope this makes sense.

• IIS7ASP.Net 4.0 - 404 errors only for external clients

  recently we moved an ASP.Net 3.5 website to 4.0 (integrated mode) and when we deployed to the clients server (Windows Server 2008 Web edition) we notice that some .aspx pages are serving 404 errors. What is strange is that 1) the pages exist 2) if you browse from the server itself the page is served as normal, only external clients get the 404 3) it's the default 404 error page not the one configured in the web.config 4) it only happens for some .aspx pages, and I've not been able to establish a link between the pages that are not being served externally. We are using a URL rewriter module which I first thought may be at fault but then realised that only some of the failing pages are being rewritten. I've also tested removing the http module and the problem still persists. As everything is working as expected when logged onto the server I was thinking it my be some sort of permission issue, but why would it only affect a few pages? I turned on failed request tracking and the debug files are being generated with the expected 404 error, although at the moment I'm not sure what most of the data means so can't decipher what's going on internally. I'd really appreciate some help with this one.

  I'm looking specifically for a convenient way to locally archive posts from this and other similar sites. I'd like to separate the question itself from the answers, or maybe crop the question and store it, keeping the page title. Obviously I don't need to store the menu or the various other site interface chrome. The best way to do this would seem to be to associate an XSLT template with a match on the URL and use that template to pull the various relevant informations and format them. My two-part question: Is there a tool specifically built for this task? I.E. something that takes a URL and checks it against a map of path-matching expressions to templates, and outputs the result of applying the template to that resource? xmlto seems to be most of the way there, and could probably just be called from a script that does the pattern-matching, but something already integrated would be more convenient. Is such a URL_pattern-to-XSLT_template map publicly available somewhere? Question 2.5: Is it legal to do this with sites like this one that have public licenses on their content?

• Does OS X support linux-like features?

  I have been using XP for almost a decade. Contrary to popular belief, it has served me well. In the last 4 years I don't remember ever having it crash on me. It has the most stable GUI I have ever used. However, an OS is only as good as it's GUI AND command line combined. Windows command line is awful and totally useless. So I have been using Ubuntu for a couple years and Debian on my servers. The only problem is that Gnome applications (ubuntu 6-10) constantly crash on me (Ubuntu Studio was the most unstable OS I ever used). I have high quality Gigabyte, MSI, and Asus motherboards and CPU's from old Semprons/Athlons to Celerons/Core 2 Quads. What are the odds that every PC I have ever owned can't remain stable with a linux GUI? Not to mention that Adobe CSx Suite doesn't work on linux. Anyway, I am now looking at moving to a MAC in the hope of finding a stable GUI and a feature-packed command line. Does Mac OS have an integrated command line where I can do linux-like-awesomeness like rsync, ssh, wget, crong jobs, package updates, and git without having an unstable GUI? Basically, until the linux GUI applications get a little better, is OS X what I need?

• How to avoid duplicates when copying files that have been renamed at the destination

  I have to get pictures from a folder – with subfolders which are updated automatically – with their extensions. These files have to be copied in a folder where a website based on PHP will edit them (by renaming and creating an XML file) to be downloadable and integrated in an XML feed. Because of the rename function of the script, when I perform the copy gain, all the files are duplicated, because the script has renamed the original ones already. I've tried a few things with rsync but I'm looking for something more powerful because I can't copy files with an external "history". #!/bin/bash find '/home/name/picture' -name '*.jpg' | while read FILE ; do rsync --backup --backup-dir=incremental --suffix=.old "$FILE" /var/www/media ; done wget --spider 'http://myscript.php' ; #exit 0 PS: As a little addition, I'd like to replace '.' with a 'space' just after the *.jpeg copy. • Enterprise level Ticketing and inventory system reccomendations [closed]

  My company is sort off at a stand still when it comes to our technician ticketing and inventory system. We currently use Numara TrackIt! - which isn't cutting it to say the least. Dell recommended KACE, but it's web based which is what we would like to avoid. We need a good ticketing and inventory system with the following: Server/Client setup Client supports XP/Windows 7 Ent. Web Based as well as Client is a plus Technician ticketing Active Directory integration Inventory System (Asset tag tracking etc/PO tracking) Exchange integrated - when tickets are made you have an option to send to the requester. Something that will scale well Please, if anyone is a Systems Admin or has knowledge regarding use of a great ticketing system please let me know. We have a large international corporation - price honestly isn't an issue. Keep in mind this will be mainly used for technicians to create tickets, enter inventory(track PCS) and possible even an option to track purchase orders. We want an enterprise level ticketing system with these capabilities please help! Thank you.

• SSO to multiple websites from Sharepoint website

  We have an intranet based on Sharepoint 2010. In this intranet we have several links to other webservers within the same Active Directory, for example a link to our Outlook Web Access site on our Exchange 2010 environment. We have three different setups which visit this Sharepoint environment and the other webservers: Windows 7 clients that are a member of the Active Directory Home pc's that connect through a SSL VPN appliance Standalone thin clients (Windows 7 embedded) within the corporate network The goal is to let people only sign in once. In the first group this isn't a problem because the AD Integrated Authentication works fine and the Windows logon is passed on to Sharepoint and the other webservers. The second group is also working fine because of the LDAP integration that the SSL VPN appliance uses. The third group is however experiencing issues. They need to enter their credentials everytime they click a link to another webserver. They first need to enter credentials for accessing the Sharepoint environment. When clicking the link for their webmail they have to re-enter their credentials, and so on. Can someone tell me what the best solution would be to also get SSO working fine for the third group? Some extra information: We also have a Forefront TMG server in our environment. I read somewhere that Forefront might be part of a solution for this problem, but not sure how. • Problem running MVC3 app in IIS 7

  I am having a problem getting a MVC 3 project running in IIS7 on a computer running Windows 7 Home-64 bit. Here is what I did. Installed IIS 7. Accessed the server and got the IIS welcome page. Created a directory named d:\MySite and copied the MVC application to it. (The MVC app is just the standard app that is created when you create a new MVC3 project in visual studio. It just displays a home page and an account logon page. It runs fine inside the Visual Studio development server and I also copied it out to my hosting site and it works fine there) Started IIS management console. Stopped the default site. Added a new site named "MySite" with a physical directory of "d:\Mysite" Changed the application pool named MySite to use .Net Framework 4.0, Integrated pipeline When I access the site in the browser I get a list of the files in the d:\MySite directory. It is as if IIS is not recognizing the contents of d:\MySite as an MVC application. What do I need to do to resolve this?

  I want to run windows 8 as a guest os with virtualbox on some thinkpad (haven't bought one yet) running Ubuntu 12.04. Apart from virtualizing windows 8 (mostly just for use with the office suite app) my needs are very modest, I don't need much more than emacs and a browser. What I'd like to know is what kind of specs will be necessary to run windows 8 well as a vm, using the office apps. It would be a shame to waste money on overpowered hardware. Are there any official guidelines from oracle or windows on this? Would this lenovo x220, for example, be sufficiently strong? The specs below were taken from this review.   I have installed Netbeans 7 on my Windows 7. In addition, the MySQL Community Server 5.6.12 is installed with the MSI installer on thesame 7 PC. The MySQL server is integrated with the Netbeans IDE. However , it is not possible to start or stop the MySQL server from the command prompt or the Netbeans IDE. I am only able to start or stop the server from the Windows 7 services tool. Also , it is difficult running SQL queries from the Netbeans IDE even though it shows there is connection with the MySQL server. I have added the my.ini file to the installed directory of the MySQL server , that is : C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6 below is the my.ini file : # For advice on how to change settings please see # http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/server-configuration-defaults.html # *** DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE. • Java process eating CPU; Why?

  I have a Linux server which I have installed Java on. Sometimes, and only sometimes when a large nr of visitors visit my website, the site hangs. When I open the terminal and enter the "top" command to see whats going on, I can see that "Java" process is eating CPU! Like 400%. I have also tried ps aux command, and can see that the command is from usr/bin/java I have little experience in troubleshooting this kind of things, so I turn to you guys for help. I have a java container installed (Jetty) which I must have in order to use SOLR (search engine) which is integrated into my website. I can start and stop SOLR by: etc/init.d/solr stop But this didn't remove the java process from the "Top" command. Still java was eating 400% CPU. Is there other methods to restart java only? This has happened twice to me, and each time I have now restarted my entire servers and everithing is fine. If you need more input let me know! Thanks

  Getting an Exception in the BitmapFactory. Not sure what is the issue. (Well I can guess the issue, but not sure why its happening) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(7906): java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: bitmap size exceeds VM budget ERROR/AndroidRuntime(7906): at android.graphics.BitmapFactory.decodeFile(BitmapFactory.java:295) My code is pretty straight forward. I defined an XML layout w/ a default image. I try to load a bm on the SDCard (if present - it is). If not it shows the default image. Anyway.. com.handyapps.easymoney.EasyMoney. I placed a breakpoint at the start of the onCreate() method but I discovered it didn't even reach there. Somehow, the application just couldn't be loaded in Android 2.2... but it works perfectly fine for all the previous Android versions. • OpenCV Video capture and fps problem

  Hi to all, I'm capturing video from my webcam using OpenCV on MacOSX. It works fine but when I try to play on QuickTime my captured video it plays too fast. i.e. I capture from camera for 10 seconds but when I play on QuickTime the video is 2 seconds. I've tried to change fps from 25 to 10 and It's works quite fine, but I'm sure it's not the correct process: CvVideoWriter *writer = 0; int isColor = 1; int fps = 25; int frameW = 640; // 744 for firewire cameras int frameH = 480; // 480 for firewire cameras The problem is that for now I've to capture with WebCam but the real pourpose of program is to capture image from any external source connected to my Mac. I'm using this code to capture: for (;;) { cvGrabFrame(capture) image = cvRetrieveFrame(capture); cvWriteFrame( writer, image ); } Any hint? I'm also showing webcam output on cvNamedWindow, how can I improve quality in this windows? thanks a lot to all! Andrea!
