• How can I print N array elements with delimiters per line?

  I have an array in Perl I want to print with space delimiters between each element, except every 10th element which should be newline delimited. There aren't any spaces in the elements if that matters. I've written a function to do it with for and a counter, but I wondered if there's a better/shorter/canonical Perl way, perhaps a special join syntax or similar. • Converting a PHP array to class variables.

  Simple question, how do I convert an associative array to variables in a class? I know there is casting to do an (object) $myarray or whatever it is, but that will create a new stdClass and doesn't help me much. Are there any easy one or two line methods to make each $key => $value pair in my array into a $key = $value variable for my class? I don't find it very logical to use a foreach loop for this, I'd be better off just converting it to a stdClass and storing that in a variable, wouldn't I? class MyClass { var $myvar; // I want variables like this, so they can be references as $this->myvar function __construct($myarray) { // a function to put my array into variables } }

• Tree iterator, can you optimize this any further?

  As a follow up to my original question about a small piece of this code I decided to ask a follow up to see if you can do better then what we came up with so far. The code below iterates over a binary tree (left/right = child/next ). I do believe there is room for one less conditional in here (the down boolean). The fastest answer wins! The cnt statement can be multiple statements so lets make sure this appears only once The child() and next() member functions are about 30x as slow as the hasChild() and hasNext() operations. Keep it iterative <-- dropped this requirement as the recursive solution presented was faster. This is C++ code visit order of the nodes must stay as they are in the example below. ( hit parents first then the children then the 'next' nodes). BaseNodePtr is a boost::shared_ptr as thus assignments are slow, avoid any temporary BaseNodePtr variables.   Hi all, Trying to help a friend out with a friend out with some assembly code, but I've run into a small problem. I'm trying to work out how I would loop through a 8 bit binary word and check the value of specific bits.   I have a list of keywords in an ArrayList and I wanted to be able to build a query to find records in a table based on this keywords. Since the list of keywords is dynamic I cannot build a fixed query here. if I do something like this: foreach (string kw in keywords) { query = query.Where(p => p.Name.StartsWith(kw)); } The "StartsWith" is required here because I need to search those records that actually start with the provided keyword. In T-SQL it Would be something like this Select * from Table where Name like 'keyword1%' or Name like 'keyword2%' or Name like 'keyword3%' or ... But I need to be able to do this in LINQ...Is this possible?

• Wordpress parses wp_posts.post_content before rendering?

  I noticed that when I call the the_post() or the_content() function from my wordpress template, it automatically parses the database data to replace new lines with <br/>, wraps the text with <p> tags etc...There's probably some kind of "format" function within the_post() or the_content(). I wrote a query to directly get posts from the wp_posts. I then print it out like <?php $results = $wp->get_results($sql) foreach($results as $row) echo $row->post_content; ?> Clearly, this data is not parsed by wordpress' "format" function. What is the proper way to output this content such that it undergoes the same "formatting" functions as the_post() or the_content()?

• Lots of pointer casts in QGraphicsView framework and performance

  Since most of the convenience functions of QGraphicsScene and QGraphicsItem (such as items(), collidingItems(), childItems() etc.) return a QList you're forced to do lots of qgraphicsitem_cast or static_cast and QGraphicsItem::Type() checks to get hold of the actual items when you have lots of different type of items in the scene. I thought doing lots of subclass casts were not a desirable coding style, but I guess in this case there are no other viable way, or is there?   Hi All, I have a bit of code that works with a result set called "result" (original I know) but depending on the incoming variable I'd like to fire the specific query depending. I have the below in an if statement but that just makes the "result" recordset gets those nasty red lines and it doesn't work.   I've been trying to call the overloaded table::scan_index(std::string, ...) member function without success. For the sake of clarity, I have stripped out all non-relevant code. I have a class called table which has an overloaded/templated member function named scan_index() in order to handle strings as a special case. class table : boost::noncopyable { public: template <typename T> void scan_index(T val, std::function<bool (uint recno, T val)> callback) { // code } void scan_index(std::string val, std::function<bool (uint recno, std::string val)> callback) { // code } }; Then there is a hitlist class which has a number of templated member functions which call table::scan_index(T, ...) class hitlist { public: template <typename T> void eq(uint fieldno, T value) { table* index_table = db.get_index_table(fieldno); // code index_table->scan_index<T>(value, [&](uint recno, T n)->bool { // code }); } }; And, finally, the code which kicks it all off: hitlist hl; // code hl.eq<std::string>(*fieldno, p1.to_string()); The problem is that instead of calling table::scan_index(std::string, ...), it calls the templated version. I have tried using both overloading (as shown above) and a specialized function template (below), but nothing seems to work. After staring at this code for a few hours, I feel like I'm missing something obvious.   I am trying to write a loop that will cycle through colors and condense the amount of code in my scss file. Here is a simple example of what I have: $color1: blue; $color2: red; $color3: white; $color4: black; .color1-bg { background-color: $color1; } .color2-bg { background-color: $color2; } .color1-border { border-color: $color1; } .color2-border { border-color: $color2; } And so on. I am looking for a way to make the equivalent of a foreach loop, and cycle through an 'array' of colours by index. Something like this: @each $color in $color1, $color2, $color3, $color4 { .{$color}-bg { background-color: $color; .{$color}-border { border-color: $color; } I know the syntax is wrong, but that is my thinking process.   How would I do this? I am trying to count when both arrays have the same value of TRUE/1 at the same index. As you can see, my code has multiple bitarrays and is looping through each one and comparing them with a comparisonArray with another loop.   Hello! I recently started investigating Qt for myself and have the following question: Suppose I have some QTreeWidget* widget. At some moment I want to add some items to it and this is done via the following call: QList<QTreeWidgetItem*> items; // Prepare the items QTreeWidgetItem* item1 = new QTreeWidgetItem(...); QTreeWidgetItem* item2 = new QTreeWidgetItem(...); items.append(item1); items.append(item2); widget->addTopLevelItems(items); So far it looks ok, but I don't actually understand who should control the objects' lifetime. I should explain this with an example: Let's say, another function calls widget->clear();. I don't know what happens beneath this call but I do think that memory allocated for item1 and item2 doesn't get disposed here, because their ownage wasn't actually transfered. And, bang, we have a memory leak. The question is the following - does Qt have something to offer for this kind of situation? I could use boost::shared_ptr or any other smart pointer and write something like shared_ptr<QTreeWidgetItem> ptr(new QTreeWidgetItem(...)); items.append(ptr.get()); but I don't know if the Qt itself would try to make explicit delete calls on my pointers (which would be disastrous since I state them as shared_ptr-managed). How would you solve this problem? Maybe everything is evident and I miss something really simple?

• How to optimize indexing of large number of DB records using Zend_Lucene and Zend_Paginator

  So I have this cron script that is deployed and ran using Cron on a host and indexes all the records in a database table - the index is later used both for the front end of the site and the backed operations as well. After the operation, the index is about 3-4 MB. The problem is it takes a lot of resources (CPU: 30+ and a good chunk of memory) and slows the machine down. My question is about how to optimize the operation described below: First there is a select query built using the Zend Framework API, this query is then passed to a Paginator factory that returns a paginator which I am using to balance the current number of items being indexed and not iterate over too much items. The script is iterating over the current items in the paginator object using a foreach loop until reaching the end and then it starts from the beginning after getting items for the next page. I am suspecting this overhead is caused by the Zend_Lucene but no idea how this could be improved.

My Problem is I am not able to DELETE this Objects when I found theme.
