  • Auto-resolving a hostname in WCF Metadata Publishing

    I am running a self-hosted WCF service. In the service configuration, I am using localhost in my BaseAddresses that I hook my endpoints to. When trying to connect to an endpoint using the WCF test client, I have no problem connecting to the endpoint and getting the metadata using the machine's name. The problem that I run into is that the client that is generated from metadata uses localhost in the endpoint URLs it wants to connect to. I'm assuming that this is because localhost is the endpoint URL published by metadata. As a result, any calls to the methods on the service will fail since localhost on the calling machine isn't running the service. What I would like to figure out is if it is possible for the service metadata to publish the proper URL to a client depending on the client who is calling it. For example, if I was requesting the service metadata from a machine on the same network as the server the endpoint should be net.tcp://MYSERVER:1234/MyEndpoint. If I was requesting it from a machine outside the network, the URL should be net.tcp://MYSERVER.mydomain.com:1234/MyEndpoint. And obviously if the client was on the same machine, THEN the URL could be net.tcp://localhost:1234/MyEndpoint. Is this just a flaw in the default IMetadataExchange contract? Is there some reason the metadata needs to publish the information in a non-contextual way? Is there another way I should be configuring my BaseAddresses in order to get the functionality I want? I'd like to connect to my home computer from work, but my internet is routed through my apartment building's network, so I don't have the static IP address I'm accustomed to having. How do I go about accessing my home computer through SSH (I'll be using Putty at work if it matters) if my home computer doesn't have a static IP address?

  • Prevent Rails link_to_remote multiple submits w Javascript

    In a Rails project I need to keep a link_to_remote from getting double-clicked. It looks like :before and :after are my only choices - they get prepended/appended to the onclick Ajax call, respectively. But if I try something like: :before => "self.stopObserving()" t,he Ajax is never run. If I try it for :after the Ajax is run but the link never stops observing. The solutions I've seen rely on creating a variable and blocking the whole form, but there are multiple link_to_remote rows on this page and it is valid to click more than one of them at a time - just not the same one twice. One variable per row declared outside of link_to_remote seems very kludgey... Instead of using Prototype I originally tried plain Javascript first for this proof of concept - but it fails too: <a href="#" onclick="self.onclick = function(){alert('foo');};"click</a just puts up an alert when clicked - the lambda here does nothing? This next one is more like the desired goal and should only alert the first time. But instead it alerts every time: <a href="#" onclick="alert('bar'); self.onclick = function(){return false;};"click</a All ideas appreciated!

  • How do I know if my game's average game session time is too small?

    My game has only one life, and the aim is to stay alive as long as possible to get as many points as possible (it's an endless runner). Using Google Analytics I found that players are staying alive for an average of 17 seconds. I could easily increase or decrease this by manipulating acceleration or starting speed. The question is, should I change it at all? Is there any research or general ideas on the best playing time for a game like this? I would also like to know about any research about how long an ideal mobile game session should last.

  • Need to copy remotely hosted file vis Shell Command

    Hello, There is a file that hosted remotely on a server that is not supporting Shell Access. I bought a new server that supports Shell Access so now I want to copy a file that is on the non-supporting server to new server via a Shell Command using Putty. File url is like this http://www.domain.com/file.gzip and it is username/password protected. If I be more specified, I want to copy a backup of a home directory from cPanel to my new server via Shell command. I have done this few months ago but I don't remember it now and also I failed to google it. Thank you, Prasad

I also don't understand what it works.     I am using xampp on localhost and when I use _SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"] it returns ::1 (also does this in phpinfo()). Why does it do this? I want it to return a normal ip address like 127.0.0.1. My operating system is windows vista.

  • jquery onclick function not firing with rails link_to_remote

    In the js file of the page, inside $(document).ready(function() {} i have $(".school a").live("click", function (e){ e.preventDefault(); ....; jsFunc(param1, param2, param3); }); Now the div with the class school has tags generated by rails link_to_remote with :url, :action, :before, :html. On clicking on this link it does all that it should do with regards to link_to_remote, but somehow the onclick event in the document.ready does not attach to it. Why would this be happening? The jsFunc all it does is post to a url async-ly, i figured out that stuffing that post url in the :before of the link_to_remote would work - but is there a more elegant way of just being able to use the attach functionality

Whenever I try to remove a repository completely either using explorer or using $ git rm -rf ptp/ fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git it errors out "The data present in the reparse point buffer is invalid" or the fatal error above.     Hi, I'm trying to get two things done after a user clicks on a link: Delete a div Add another element at the bottom of the page I played with Rails link_to_remote and what I get with the code below is that the element is added before the div is deleted: <%= link_to_remote "&#x2713;", :url => { :controller => :movies, :action => :mark_as_seen, :movie => movie, :render => 'movie' }, :success => "Effect.Fade('movie_#{movie.id}_wrapper', { duration: 0.4 })", :update => "movies", :position => "bottom", :failure => "alert('Ooops! An error occurred.')" %> I tried to put :update and :position in a :complete callback, but nothing happened. And when I put both of them in the :success callback (after Effect.Fade), all I get is a parsing error. Any idea? Thanks, Kevin

    I am in a position where I could become a team leader of a team distributed over two countries. This team would be the tech. team for a start up company that we plan to bootstrap on limited funds. So I am trying to find out ways to minimize upfront expenses. Right now we are planning to use Java and will have a lot of junit tests. I am planing on using github for VCS and lighthouse for a bug tracker. In addition I want to add a continuous integration server but I do not know of any continuous integration servers that are offered as a web service. Does anybody know if there are continuous integration servers available in a software as a service model? P.S. if anybody knows were I can get these three services at one location that would be great to know to.

  • Why is HttpContext.Current.Session available in HttpModule but not in Response.Filter?

    I have written an HttpModule that adds a response filter. The filter is capturing page output and storing it in a session variable. I am able to access HttpContext.Current.Session in my HttpModule. The HttpModule is handling the PostAcquireRequestState event. I am still able to access HttpContext.Current.Session in the PostAcquireRequestState event. I am adding a custom stream that inherits from Stream to Response.Filter HttpContext.Current.Session is null when accessed from the Stream.Write method. Everything worked fine when using an InProc SessionState. However, I now must use StateServer. Using StateServer, the code is now broken. Any ideas?

  • Git: can I store known repositories along the repository?

    I am setting up a Git repository. I know you can add repositories using git config --global, but is there a way that those known repositories gets cloned by users? The goal would be that once the repo gets cloned by userz, they can push to other repos just by their aliases. For example, I add git://X/mobility.git as X to the repo (somehow), a user clone it from git://Y, but then can do git push X without previously doing the git config. How to do that?

  • Visual C++: breakpoints disabled

    I have a 'release with debug info' unmanaged c++ .exe (built with VS2005) deployed onto another PC, the .exe and .pdb are in the same folder. When I try to attach to the process from VS2005, either locally or remotely from my dev PC, all my breakpoints become disabled. I don't get any warning/error popups which makes me think the PDB file is being found, but not seen as 'good'. Is that the right interpretation? I think if it couldn't see the PDB I'd get a "no debug information could be found" popup. Has anyone got any ideas what can be wrong?

  • wpf app invisible remotely (via radmin)

    hi gang, I've built a little WPF utility that watches a serialport and visualises monitoring information with WPF. It works fine, but a colleague just tried using it from another machine via radmin and my app is completely invisible! if you're at the machine you see it, if you view it via radmin you see the same screen but no app. Instead you see the app behind it (in this case windows explorer), but can't click on anything in the space where my app is. Has anyone else come across this before??

  • jQuery / Loading content into div and changing url's (working but buggy)

    This is working, but I'm not being able to set an index.html file on my server root where i can specify the first page to go. It also get very buggy in some situations. Basically it's a common site (menu content) but the idea is to load the content without refreshing the page, defining the div to load the content, and make each page accessible by the url. One of the biggest problems here it's dealing with all url situations that may occur. The ideal would be to have a rel="divToLoadOn" and then pass it on my loadContent() function... so I would like or ideas/solutions for this please.   • Log in sound is playing, but no sound during gnome desktop session.What's the problem?

    When i installed ubuntu, everything was great. But one day, i heard the login sound but no sound on the desktop session. This happens every time. I have reinstalled sound drivers several times, checked speakers are not mute, checked alsamixer, saw all the troubleshooting tips on the net, checked user privileges too but of no help. anyone knows the answer? Please help!!!!! I have ubuntu 10.4LTS and alc662 sound chip. My computer is detecting the sound card and no problems with my speakers.This maybe a bug but i cannot report as i don't know if this will repeat(I atleast have to solve the problem first).
