    Hi guys, in the WinMobile world you can create a so called Today plugin to add content to the phone's main screen, the one where you see the number of missed calls, unread sms and upcoming events. Is it possible to do something similar on the BB? I'd like to show some important info there, so that they are as visible and easily reachable as possible.   • DataContractSerializer: preserve string member that happens to be raw xml?

    I'm a little inexperienced with the DataContract paradigm, and I'm running into a deserialization problem. I have a field that's a string, but it contains xml and it's not being deserialized correctly. I have a feeling that it's because the DCS is treating it as input to the serializer and not as an opaque string object. Is there some way to mark a DataMember in code to say "This thing is a string, don't treat its contents as xml" similar to XmlIgnore? Thanks!

    Maxmind offers a binary DAT file format for downloading their GeoIP database. http://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoLiteCity.dat.gz Does anyone know how this has been packaged? Also, is there any kind of copy protection on the data? I'd like to offer up a set of data in a similar way. Anyone with any knowledge of this will receive my undying gratitude :-)

    What are available resources I should look to in order to write an emulator for iPhoneOS? I'd like to write an emulator to run applications written for MacOS. I understand that I won't be able to use file system and other OS resources. I do have an SDK, XCode and all documentation for those resources, but I wonder if I can find some examples (perhaps similar to the emulator that can run Ninetendo games on iPhone)?

    I am developing a Delphi documents management application, so somehow I am giving the user some functionality similar to windows explorer. I would like to know if there is a way to get the preview used by windows explorer. For example windows explorer creates a small thumbnail for a pdf document for example, and displays it when the user chooses to view "big icons". Is there a way to retrieve that preview?     I saw this video, and I am really curious how it was performed. Does anyone have any ideas? My intuition is that he scraped pixels from the screen (one per 'box'), and then fed that into some program to determine the next move. Is scraping pixel-by-pixel the way to do this, or is there a better way? I am looking to do something similar with either Java or Python. Thanks

    Hello, I made a Java application which I would like to distribute on Windows, OSX and Linux without distributing a jar file. I used the great Windows exe wrapper http://launch4j.sourceforge.net/ to create an .exe file complete with my icon that won't scare Windows users. Are there similar wrappers that I can use for OSX/Unix? An important consideration is that I would like to have my own icon on the executable (especially for mac users). Thanks!
