The complete end-to-end sample application will build a eCommerce website and follows the Java EE 6 design principles of simple and easy-to-use to its core. Its using several technologies from the platform such as JPA 2.0, CDI 1.0, Bean Validation 1.0, EJB Lite 3.1, JSF 2.0, and JAX-RS 1.1. The two goals of the project are: • use Java EE 6 and just Java EE 6 : no external framework or dependency • make it simple : no complex business algorithm The application works with GlassFish and JBoss today and there are plans to add support for TomEE. • What frameworks are available for cross device 2d game development?

  I'm about to embark on a 2D gaming project. Initially, I'll be targeting iPhone and Facebook, but would like to expand the rollout to include Android (and possibly Windows Phone) in a future phase. Flash and Unity seem to be the most likely suspects, but is one better than the other? Are there pros/cons that may not be obvious at first glance? Are there frameworks that I have not considered?   When you’re working with Web SSO integration, sometimes it’s helpful to be able to decode the tokens that get passed around via the browser from the various participants in the trust – RP, STS, etc. With SAML tokens, sometimes they’re simply base64 encoded when they’re in the POST body; other times they’re part of the query string, which they end up being base64encoded, deflated, then Url encoded.   In my web application i have one page call it mypage.html When user clicks some link in mypage a modal window will be opened and he will see some html page. (I do this by Colorbox or Twitter Bootstrap now) But when user clicked a button in modal window, an Ajax request will be sent to my server. If request is successfull he will see some new modal window, else user will see another modal window. After all steps user will close modal window and tasks will be finished. Which jquery modal window plugin is suitable for this type of usage?

• Empathy authentication error to XMPP server

  I recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a new machine and have been working on setting it up, but I've run into an interesting problem. I have a custom XMPP server for work (I don't control it, but we're using an in-house install). I can connect to it just fine via Pidgin, but due to some UI issues I'm having with Pidgin (and what appears to be better overall integration between Empathy and Ubuntu/Unity), I'd like to use Empathy instead. However, Empathy won't connect to my XMPP server, and I keep getting an authentication error and repeatedly prompted for my password. This happens even when importing the working account information from Pidgin (so I know things like the password are correct). Is there a way I can get Empathy working with my XMPP server?

• How to fix LibreOffice 3.5 to start from launcher icon?

  Recently I installed LibreOffice 3.5 from debs (including the ones for desktop integration. Since then it behaves in a weird manner. Basically it won't launch from launcher shortcuts. Example: dash libreoffice launched (launcher shows with 2 seconds delay) 'keep in launcher' LO closed the LO icon on the launcher clicked pulsating for 5 seconds, then stops LO didn't launch I didn't look for open processes or anything and... dash libreoffice launched immediately without problems It also didn't remember recently opened items, but now it got fixed somehow. Other symptoms: - icon on the launcher and all menu categories appear with a delay of few seconds - two writer icons appear on the launcher What I did: used 3.4.5, uninstalled, installed 3.5 RC3, problems started to occur uninstalled RC3 'clean' per http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_LibreOffice_on_Linux#Debian_.2F_Ubuntu_3 installed 3.5 stable which is identical to RC3 still same issues I don't know if it is related but I use Unity test PPA:vanvugt/unity which I needed to solve the stuttering windows bug. Any ideas?

  It seems to me that everyone uses NUnit without even considering the other options. I think this is because: Everyone is familiar with it already so they won't have to learn a new API. It is already set up with their continuous integration server to work with NUnit. Am I wrong about this? I decided to use xUnit on one of my own projects recently and I love it! It makes so much more sense to me and conceptually it seems like a definite step forward from NUnit. I'd like to hear opinions on which framework is actually the best - not taking into consideration having to learn it or reconfigure your automated testing.

  I work on a well-established, embedded C++ code base. We have been using a proprietary API to our filesystem. For better integration with third-party C libraries, we are currently in the process of implementing most of stdio.h and fcntl.h. I made what I thought was a non-controversial proposal that we should also implement the fstream class and encourage new C++ code to use it instead of the new (to our code base) C-style API. We already have the stdout parts of iostream available, although it is not widely used. Given a choice between using stdio and fstream, what are good reasons to choose stdio for embedded software development in C++?
