• Why can't I access Jetty running on my Mac via my iPhone?

  I'm developing an iPhone app that has a network component. I'm developing the app in Java (Google App Engine actually), running on port 8080. And it works, when I test my app in the iPhone simulator. But now I am trying to test on the device, and I can't hit my Jetty instance. I can certainly access my Mac via the iPhone because I'm able to hit http://10.0.1.7/~brianpapa/ and view my Home Folder when Web Sharing is turned on. But when I try to hit http://10.0.1.7:8080/, it says it can't connect to the server. Interestingly, if I try to hit http://10.0.1.7:8080/ from my mac, it doesn't work either - I have to use localhost as the hostname instead, then it's fine. Has anybody ever encountered this before, and know how to fix it?

  In ASP.NET I'd like to create a link which points to a specific Uri and send this link in an email to a user, for instance something like http://www.BlaBla.com/CustomerPortal/Order/9876. I can create the second part of the Uri /CustomerPortal/Order/9876 dynamically in code-behind. My question is: How can I create the base Uri http://www.BlaBla.com without hardcoding it in my application? Basically I want to have something like: http://localhost:1234/CustomerPortal/Order/9876 (on my development machine) http://testserver/CustomerPortal/Order/9876 (on an internal test server) http://www.BlaBla.com/CustomerPortal/Order/9876 (on the production server) So is there a way to ask the server where the application is running: "Please tell me the base Uri of the application" ? • Using CouchDB to serve HTML.

  I'm trying to use CouchDB with HTML/standalone REST architecture. That is, no other app server other than CouchDB and ajax style javascript calling CouchDB. It looks like cross scripting is a problem. I was using Cloudkit/Tokyo Cabinet before and it seems like the needed callback function was screwing it up in the URL. Now I'm trying CouchDB and getting the same problem. Here are my questions: 1) Are these problems because the REST/JSON store like CouchDB or CloudKit is running on a different port from my web page? They're both run locally and called from "localhost". 2) Should I let CouchDB host my page and serve the HTML? 3) How do I do this? The documentation didnt seem so clear... Thanks, Alex

  Hi there, I am currently working on a little backup script from some firebird databases and I've come up with a weird escaping problem that I don't seem to be able to solve. Here's the thing in my script I create a variable called sqllog in which I would like to put the output of a chain of commands, here it is. sqllog=echo "SELECT * FROM RDB\$DATABASE;" | isql -u SYSDBA -pass mypasswd localhost:mydatabase | tail -n 2 | head -n 1 | wc -l if I try to execute this in shell I get the following error Statement failed, SQLCODE = -204 Dynamic SQL Error -SQL error code = -204 -Table unknown -RDB -At line 1, column 15. Table unknown RDB means it didn't take my try to escape the $. thx for any help :)

• wamp magento no admin page

  I have a live magento website hosted in Bluehost, I just installed wamp and tried to clone the live website to local wamp server. After some configuration changed from live server to local, the site is working with no problem, however, there is no admin page! If I go to localhost/magento/admin, it takes me to 404 page and throw error: The requested URL /magento/admin was not found on this server. How do I fix this? Thanks lots. • InetAddress.getLocalHost() throws UnknownHostException

  Hi, I am testing our server-application (written Java) on different operating systems and thought that OpenSolaris (2008.11) would be the least troublesome due to the nice Java integration. Turns out I was wrong, as I end up with a UnknownHostException try { computerName = InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName(); if (computerName.indexOf(".") > -1) computerName = computerName.substring(0, computerName.indexOf(".")).toUpperCase(); } catch (UnknownHostException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } The output is: java.net.UnknownHostException: desvearth01: desvearth01 at java.net.InetAddress.getLocalHost(InetAddress.java:1353) However, nslookup desvearth01 returns the correct IP address, and nslookup localhost returns 127.0.0.1 as expected. Also, the same code works perfectly on FreeBSD. Is there anything special to OpenSolaris that I am not aware of? Any hints appreciated, thanks.

  I've been working through the tutorial for the past few days, and finally hit a snag in chapter 7. It is in this step where the line in routes.rb: get "users/new" is replaced with resource :users After I do this, I get a routing error when visiting http://localhost:3000/users/1 - No route matches [GET] "/users/1" instead of the other "Unknown Action" error shown here. I defined a table in my database wich resume the profil and the url permitted like that: id_profil :1 url : http://localhost/...xyz.jsp id page 1 Now I am trying to let the menu modified appropriately to the id_profil of the logged user. • After getting the 'It worked!' page with Djangoappengine, what do I do next?

  I followed the Djangoappengine instructions. I used their django-testapp and copied the following folders in the django-testapp folder according to what I understood the instructions to say: django djangoappengine djangotoolbox I then started the dev server by running: manage.py runserver Then navigated to http://localhost:8000/ and got the "It worked!" page, which is great, but it says the following at the bottom: You're seeing this message because you have DEBUG = True in your Django settings file and you haven't configured any URLs. Get to work! I am an absolute beginner with Django and App Engine and Djangoappengine and Django-nonrel, so I am pretty lost. How do I configure URLs? Or a link to the how to will help. I took a look at the Django tutorial, but am unsure how much of it is relevant to Djangoappengine and Django-nonrel as a lot of the starting steps have to do with SQL databases. Basically some direction on how to get my app running will be great. Thanx much.

• Form authentication works on dev server but not on IIS

  Hi, We have a similar problem. We have a web application running under default appdomain. It was working fine until a week before...Suddenly it has encountered a problem. Below message is taken from event logs. Event code: 4005 Event message: Forms authentication failed for the request. Reason: The ticket supplied has expired. Application uses FormsAuthentication and gets the roles from aspnetdb.. After the error, when user logins to the page, it does not redirects to the default.aspx. Again login.aspx comes up. On the other hand application works fine on development server(localhost), but not on www(IIS 6.0). Does any one has an idea? Thanks, Ilknur

• A fast way to get Reporting Services local site working?

  Hello I was here trying to figure out why my Reports manager is empty, there's no tabs at all. I installed SQL Server 2008 complete, but didn't not configure Reporting Services. When installing SQL Server 2008, this Windows 7 version didn't have yet IIS installed, I installed it later. I don't see where is this localhost/Reports physically on my Hard Drive, where is the physic folder? I don't see on IIS where is Report folder, would it exist? The site settings people talk about, I can't find it. The "Reporting Services" service is running on automatic at SQL Server Configuration Manager. How can I get Reporting Services this working without struggling? (I can't see why is necessary to customize all these user permissions)

• Use deployJava.js to check for/automatically install latest JRE version for web applet

  I'd like to use the deployJava.js tool to have Java automatically detect the currently installed JRE and install an updated version if necessary. My initial impression when reading about deployJava.js was that it would do this out of the box when you simply set a version number as a function parameter for the "runApplet" function. But this has never seemed to work. Is it even possible to do this, and if so, how? • Previewing php pages inside Expression Web 3 suddently stopped working

  On a Windows 7 development machine, I have expression web 3, PHP 5 installed I have been using expression web and PHP for a while, and previewing php pages etc on pressing F12 (preview using local server). Suddenly on F12 all PHP pages display as blank, even a phpinfo() file. Standard html pages continue to work correctly on F12. If I place the same page php inside the default website on inetpub and browse using localhost then the phpinfo() file works. So I know that php is installed and configured correctly for IIS. Things I've checked: Gone into site settings in Expression web and confirmed that php is selected and it is pointing to the php executable Reinstalled php Checked iis that the php extension is registered. Copied files to a different machine with expression web and php installed and it works on. The strange thing is that it gives a blank (no errors) page inside expression web, but does work inside inetpub This was working up until recently, then suddenly stopped for no reason.

• How to use Visual Studio and IIS7 together?

  Hi folks, i'm trying to use Visual Studio 2010 (but this also happens with VS2008) as my web server for all locahost development. When i go into the properties for my web application (sigh, it's a legacy web FORMS app) and check the Web tab .. then check the Use Local IIS Web Server option ... it only allows me to create a virtual directory against a website. Why?! this is not what I want :( I wanted to have my own IIS7 website (no virtual directory) and debug against that. Can anyone help me? As a side note, i tried to use the third option Use Custom Web Server .. which ends up pointing to my localhost iis7 server. Now, this works ... but when i wish to Start Debugging .. it errors :( (it's not sure how to attach to that process or something?) So - can anyone out there please help?

  I'm trying to pass 3 parameter to a script, where the 3rd parameter $_GET['value3'] is supposed to be an array $_GET['value1'] $_GET['value2'] $_GET['value3'] //an array of items I'm calling the script like this: (notice my syntax for value3, I'm not sure it's correct) http://localhost/test.php?value1=test1&value2=test2&value3=[the, array, values] I then use a foreach to hopefully loop through the third parameter value3 which is the array //process the first input $_GET['value1'] //process the second input $_GET['value2'] //process the third input $_GET['value3'] which is the array foreach($_GET['value3'] as $arrayitem){ echo $arrayitem; } but I get the error Invalid argument supplied for foreach() I'm not sure if my methodology is correct. • Get Distance from geohash field in solr 3.6

  Is it possible to get distance returned from a geodist() filter, on a geohash field that has multiple values? The geosort and the geodist filter are working fine, but I'm trying to get the distance between the query point and a location that was returned in the result. I've tried http://wiki.apache.org/solr/SpatialSearch#Returning_the_distance The second method which is : //localhost:8983/solr/select?indent=true&fl=name,store&sfield=store&pt=45.15,-93.85&sort=score%20asc&q={!func}geodist() But it returns weird results, tested with 2 locations it returns score 9979.032, where there is ~33,000 Km between both points in reality? What is the unit that it uses returning the distance in the score field? I assumed km, but it does not make sense, or the result is bogus, I dunno Anyhelp would be appreciated, thanks

  I've written a thread using java.net.SocketServer to listen on a particular port. It works fine in the android simulator (using port forwarding). I'm planning to connect over wifi to this port when the app is being used. However, the SocketServer documentation says that if you don't supply an InetAddress, the server listens on localhost. Am I correct that if I do not supply the address, I will not be able to get a connection over wifi? How can I get the InetAddress of the wifi connection to pass to the SocketServer?

  Hi there, I have recently ran into this strange issue, I was trying to reference parent window in an iframe, but somehow window.parent or parent are always undefined. I got around the problem by using window.top, but this question still haunts me. Why is window.parent undefined? This is a .NET web app, if it helps. Update: I would like to add that both parent and child iframes are pointed to the same domain (localhost). As for code, I have tried the following code: if (parent != null) { // do something } where do something never happens, I also tried alert(parent) and alert(window.parent) they always come out as null.

• apache on windows virtual directory config help

  I'm running Apache on Windows XP via Xampplite, and could use help configuring my virtual directory. Here's what I'm hoping to do on my dev box: I want my source files to live outside of the xampp htdocs dir on my local machine I can access the project at http://myproject others on my local network can access the project at my.ip.address/myproject keep localhost pointing to the xampp's htdocs folder so I can easily add other projects. I've got 1 & 2 working by editing the windows hosts file, and adding a virtual directory in xampp's apache\conf\extra\httpd-vhosts.conf file. I don't immediately see how to do 3 without messing up 4.
