  • How to make prevent public key inside jar to be saved using Java code

    After signing a jar , we can retrieve the public keys from jar using Certificate[] cert = jarentry.getCertificates(); Once certificate is extracted we can save this to a new keystore as trusted cert. Once this is done , then second user can sign any jar using this certificate , isn't ? I want to distribute content as jars , contents will contain properties files for a application init. I want to make sure that an user is not capable to rebuilding the property files using the certificate he extracted from jarentry. In the code which reads the jar contents i am checking that jar is signed with my certificate only and also checking that jar is not tampered with . But the issue came to my mind that if i am able to extract the cerificate from jar then why don;t a third guy ? Can any one help me in this............

  • Does Python/Scipy have a firls( ) replacement (i.e. a weighted, least squares, FIR filter design)?

    I am porting code from Matlab to Python and am having trouble finding a replacement for the firls( ) routine. It is used for, least-squares linear-phase Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter design. I looked at scipy.signal and nothing there looked like it would do the trick. Of course I was able to replace my remez and freqz algorithsm, so that's good. On one blog I found an algorithm that implemented this filter without weighting, but I need one with weights.   • Compass accuracy dilemma

    I need to build compass for my application. From reading the documentation it seems there are two reasonable ways of doing this: Sensor.TYPE_ORIENTATION method: This is the easy way of doing it. The problem with this is it is not accurate. When I compare my reading with Snaptic Compass it is about 10-15 degress off which for my purposes is unacceptable. Sensor.TYPE_ACCELEROMETER, Sensor.TYPE_MAGNETIC_FIELD and getRotationMatrix() in conjunction with remapCoordinateSystem() and getOrientation() method: The documentation says this "is usually more accurate". The problem is regardless of the delay I register with listener the compass goes crazy even when the device is stationary on flat surface. Any suggestions for solving this problem will be greatly appreciated.

    Is there any way to programmatically determine if an .xls contains macros, without actually opening it in Excel? Also are there any methods to examine which certificate (including timestamp cert) these macros are signed with? Again without using Excel. I'm wondering in particular if there are any strings that always show up in the raw data of an Excel file when macros are present.

    Ok, this is probably highly subjective but here it comes: Let's assume I'm writing a method that will take a printscreen of some region of the screen. Which method signature would you prefer and why? Bitmap DoPrintScreen(int x, int y, int width, int height); Bitmap DoPrintScreen(Rectangle rect); Bitmap DoPrintScreen(Point point, Size size); Other Why? I keep seeing myself repeatedly implementing both 1) and 2) (redirecting one of them to the other) but I end up usually just using one of them, so there really is no point in having both. I can't decide which would be better. Maybe I should use the signature that looks the most with the method I'll be calling to make the printscreen?

  • Why does the app signature change in Android after a classpath change?

    I have an Android project that branched into three different applications, app-1, app-2 and app-3, that apply some customizations. Currently there is a lot of code duplication, making maintenance a nightmare: do the changes in one of the branches, and then merge the other two. So we create a library project, named app-core, that factors out most of the duplicated code. So far so good. When I launch this into an emulator where the application was already loaded (before the refactoring), I get this exception: Re-installation failed due to different application signatures A different signature? But I just added a line in the .classpath to link to the app-core Java project! The main question is: are the existing users going to be bothered by this too? And the side question: Why is it a different signature?

    I have some c++ written package. Linux, gcc. I can modify compilation process (change Makefile, flags, etc.), but can not change C++ source code. One runs the package with different parameters, it does a job and exits. How to count: 1) Number of calls of function with specific name? 2) Number of calls of functions with specific signature? 3) Number of calls of functions where one of the parameters is of specific type i.e. std::string (type is specified by signature)? 4) and extra Number of calls of functions of STL objects, i.e. std::string copy constructor? (I mean count a number of calls during the run. ) I thought to do it with GDB, but I found it very tough to do (1) and have not found how to do (2)-(4) at all. All acceptable answers I will write here for humanity.

  • Sony PMB causing failure to load Windows 7 Pro 64-bit normally or even Safe Mode

    After installing Sony's Picture Motion Browser on my desktop with Windows 7 Pro x64, it always goes to Startup Repair due to Windows 7 failing to start. This always happens after I try to install it. I've installed with all unnecessary programs closed and all disk drives and unnecessary usb ports empty. I don't exactly know what is causing the problem. Any ideas?     I'm trying to play a mpeg movie on my Sony Cybershot digital camera, it's from a DV-camera converted to MPEG1. But sony refuses to play it with File error. The only files sony can play are from my previous Sony camera. The other way around gives no problem, the movies the camera takes play on various software media players. Has anyone succeeded in converting files to the mpg-format that a Sony Digital Camera can play?

    I have my Windows Automatic Updates set to "Notify me but don't automatically download or install them.". However, if I install Microsoft Security Essentials, can I have the daily virus signatures downloaded and applied without being prompted each time by Windows Update? I like to have the control of installing general Windows Updates, but prefer not to have to accept the signature definitions that I expect to have applied every day (would get a bit tedious). Using XP Home SP 3. Just wanted to check this over before deciding whether or not to go for Microsoft Security Essentials.

    With Outlook before the 2010 version, it was possible to specify any path for the signatures. With Outlook 2010, the only way is to use those stored into C:\Documents and Setting\UserName\Local Settings\Application Datas\Microsoft\Signature\ I'd like to point the signatures to a network share. Allowing us to modify the signatures into the share, instead of login on every computers each time we are asked to modify them (and this is quite often because the signatures contain logos about current events). We currently use a script to copy the signatures from the share to the local disk when users login.

  • ATI Radeon 5850 video card one analog, one digital and one tv connected to hdmi, unable to run all 3

    I have one analog monitor connected through dvi adapter one digital monitor connected through dvi tv connected through hdmi I'm unable to run all 3 at the same time, when I try to extend desktop it asks me to disable one of the monitors so I can only have 2 at one time. I tried finding solution but according to some forums I should be able to achieve it since one is analog I should be able to run 3 outputs with hdmi that way. Does any one have any suggestions?   • ASPNET MVC - Override Html.TextBoxFor(model.property) with a new helper with same signature?

    I want to override Html.TextBoxFor() with my own helper that has the exact same signature (but a different namespace of course) - is this possible, and if so, how? The reason for this is that I have 100+ views in an already existing app, and I want to change the behaviour of TextBoxFor so that it outputs a maxLength=n attribute if the property has a [StringLength(n)] annotation. The code for automatically outputting maxlength=n is in this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2386365/maxlength-attribute-of-a-text-box-from-the-dataannotations-stringlength-in-mvc2. But my question is not a duplicate - I am trying creating a more generic solution: where the DataAnnotaion flows into the html automatically without any need for additional code by the person writing the view. In the referenced question, you have to change every single Html.TexBoxFor to a Html.CustomTextBoxFor. I need to do it so that the existing TextBoxFor()'s do not need to be changed - hence creating a helper with the same signature: change the behaviour of the helper method, and all existing instances will just work without any changes (100+ views, at least 500 TextBoxFor()s - don't want to manually edit that). I tried this code: (And I need to repeat it for each overload of TextBoxFor, but once the root problem is solved, that will be trivial) namespace My.Helpers { public static class CustomTextBoxHelper { public static MvcHtmlString TextBoxFor<TModel, TProperty>(this HtmlHelper<TModel> htmlHelper, Expression<Func<TModel, TProperty>> expression, object htmlAttributes, bool includeLengthIfAnnotated) { // implementation here } } } But I am getting a compiler error in the view on Html.TextBoxFor(): "The call is ambiguous between the following methods or properties" (of course).   • Dell XPS 15 (L502x) sound problem

    I have a problem with my sound on my Dell XPS 15. First, when I had Windows 7, my sound was pretty good (I have a JBL 2.1 speaker system with Waves Maxx audio), but since I installed Ubuntu 12.04 it sounded very cheap and as if I put my laptop in a tin can.   • What is the best solution for letting both Macs and PCs access digital images and videos on a networ

    I'm looking for a simple way to share digital images and videos over a network to both Macs and PCs. I'm currently looking into three options: NAS, WD MyBook Mirror drives attached to a router, or an HP WHS product like the Data Vault. I'm looking for something easy to implement that allows for drive mirroring but also has good performance for both Macs and PCS. I've read that the HP WHS devices rebalance on their own schedules, making them useless for streaming video, and hope someone can definitively confirm or deny this as it's a dealbreaker if true. Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
