  • Splitting up UDP packet

    Heyo, I'm using UdpClient to query game servers about server name, map, number of players, etc. I've followed the guidelines on this page http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Server_queries#Source_servers and I'm getting a correct reply: I have no idea how I would go about to get each chunk of information (server name, map and the like). Any help? I'm assuming one would have to look at the reply format specified in the wiki I linked, but I don't know what to make of it. Cheers,

  • Home screen widget size for large screen or hdpi?

    From Android widget screen guidelines, http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/widget_design.html, we know that, home screen has 4*4 cells, and in portrait orientation, each cell is 80 pixels wide by 100 pixels tall. I think these are for baseline HVGA screen. How about for large screens and hdpi screens, do they still have 4*4 cells for widget and each cell in portrait orientation is still 80 pixels * 100 pixels? Thanks.

When I compiled with W4, I'm getting a lot of warnings such as: C4127: conditional expression is constant Should I compile at W3, or find other ways to handle warnings at W4, such as: adding a new header file and using pragma's(mentioned here C++ Coding Standards: 101 Rules, Guidelines, and Best Practices).     After the introduction of Java Memory Model, the Swing guidelines were changed to state that any Swing components need to be instantiated on the EDT in order to avoid non-published instance state. What I could not find anywhere is whether the classloading is also mandated to be on the EDT or can we pre-load key Swing classes in a background thread? Is there any official statement from Sun/Oracle on this? Are there any classes that are known to hold non-threadsafe static state, hence need to be loaded on EDT?

I have a class called Project, a project can have multiple forecasts.Now If I want to check if the projects has any forecasts or not should I use a readonly boolean property called HasForecast() or should I use a method named HasForecast() which basically returns a boolean value.From framework design guidelines I came to know that methods should be used when the operation is complex,since here I'm retrieving the value of forecasts from DB should I consider method, or since it is a logical data member should I use a property.If I use a property can I call a method in DBLayer from its getter.Please explain Regards, Ravi
