  • Kill named running screen with -X only works after reattached

    Hello I am using ubuntu 8.04.4 and would like to start daemons like this: screen -dmS SESSIONNAME script.sh Then i want to kill these screens with -X like so screen -S SESSIONAME -X kill But, this does not work. Only if i attach and detach that session it gets kill'ed with above command. What am i doing wrong? I would like to not have to attach/deattach the session to kill it since i want to use fabric scripts that start/stop daemons remotly. - Thank you

  • Ubuntu 12.04: Unable to add or delete a user named 'mysql'

    I am trying to install MySql on Ubuntu 12.04 but the installation is failing with the error: "Can't change to run as user 'mysql'. Check if the user 'mysql' exits." So I go ahead type in the command : 'cat /etc/passwd | grep mysql' and result is null. I try to add a user 'mysql' by issuing the command 'useradd mysql'/. But it fails with the message: 'useradd: user 'mysql' already exists'. When I try to delete the user 'mysql' using the command 'userdel mysql' it also fails with the message "userdel: cannot remove entry 'mysql' from /etc/passwd." Can anyone explain me what's going on and suggest a solution.

  • Issues with "There is already an object named 'xxx' in the database'

    I'm fairly new to SQL so this may be an easy mistake, but I haven't been able to find a solid solution anywhere else. Problem is whenever I try to use my temp table, it tells me it cannot be used because there is already an object with that name. I frequently try switching up the names, and sometimes it'll let me work with the table for a little while, but it never lasts for long. Am I dropping the table incorrectly?     I tried using the code below for the Excel program on my `Mac Mini using the OS X Version 10.7.2 and it keeps saying Error due to file name / path: (The Excel file I am creating is going to be a template with my formulas and macros installed which will be used over and over). A:A is what I need the name of the file to be. B:2 is the content I need in the text file. So, A2 - "repair-video-game-Glassboro-NJ-08028.txt" is the file name and B2 to be the content in the file. Next, A3 is the file name and B3 is the content for the file, etc. ONCE the content reads what is in cell A16 and B16 (length will vary), the file creation should stop, if not then I can delete the additional files created. This sheet will never change. Is there a way to establish the excel macro to always go to this sheet instead of have to select it with the mouse to identify the starting point? 2nd Objective I would like to have the following data to be used to create a text file. A:1 is what I need the name of the file to be. B:B is the content I want in the file. So, A2 - is the file name "geo-sitemap.xml" and B:B to be the content in the file (ignore the .xml file extension in the photo). ONCE the content cell reads what is in cell "B16" (length will vary), the file creation should stop, if not then I can adjust the cells that have need content (formulated content you see in the image is preset for 500 rows). I can Provide the content in the cells that are filled in by excel formulas that are not not to be included in the .txt files. It is ok if it is not possible.   • Trap SIGPIPE when trying to write without reader

    I am trying to implement a named-pipe communication solution in BASH between two processes. The first process runs a script which echo something in a named-pipe: send(){ echo 'something' > $NAMEDPIPE } And the second script is supposed to read the named-pipe via another script which contains: while true;do if read line < $NAMEDPIPE;do someCommands fi done Not that the named pipe has been previously created using the traditional command mkfifo $NAMEDPIPE My problem is that the reader script is not always running so that if the writer script try to write in the named-pipe it stay blocked until a reader connect the pipe. I want to avoid this behavior, and a solution would be to trap a SIGPIPE signal. Indeed, according to man 7 signal is supposed to be send when trying to write in a pipe with no reader. So I changed my red function by: read(){ trap 'echo "SIGPIPE received"' SIGPIPE echo 'something' > $NAMEDPIPE } But when I run the reader script, the script stay blocked, and not "SIGPIPE received" appears... Am I mistaking on the signal mechanism or is there any better solution to my problem ? Thank you for your help.

  • Better Way To Use C++ Named Parameter Idiom?

    I've been developing a GUI library for Windows (as a personal side project, no aspirations of usefulness). For my main window class, I've set up a hierarchy of option classes (using the Named Parameter Idiom), because some options are shared and others are specific to particular types of windows (like dialogs). The way the Named Parameter Idiom works, the functions of the parameter class have to return the object they're called on. The problem is that, in the hierarchy, each one has to be a different class -- the createWindowOpts class for standard windows, the createDialogOpts class for dialogs, and the like. I've dealt with that by making all the option classes templates.   • jQuery capture all changes to named inpt on a form

    I'm trying to determine when any of a set of named input/select/radio/checked/hidden fields in a form change. In particular, I'd like to capture when any changes are made to fields matching jQuery's selector $("form :input"), and where that input is has a name attribute. However, the form isn't static i.e. some of the fields are dynamically added later. My initial thought is to keep track of when new named elements matching :input are added, and then add an event handler, like this: function on_change() { alert("The form element with name " + $(this).attr("name") + " has changed"); } function reg_new_e_handler(input_element) { input_element.change(on_change); } However, I'm quite hopeful I can avoid this with some jQuery magic. In particular, is there a way to register an event handler in jQuery that would handle input elements that match the following: $("form :input").filter( function () { $(this).attr("name") } ).change(on_change); However, have this event set update whenever new input elements are added. I've thought that it may be possible to capture keyup event on the form node with $("form").keyup(on_change), but I'm not so sure how one could capture change events. Some other SO postings referred to not being able to import the module but I can launch the python console and import UserProfile.libs.allauth.account without any exceptions being thrown! My base_setings.py has the following relevant section INSTALLED_APPS = ( 'UserProfile.libs.allauth.account', )

  • Named previously unnamed branch

    It seems naming a previously unnamed branch doesn't really work out. It creates a nasty multiple heads problem that I can't find a solution for. Here is the workflow... UserA starts working on feature that they expect to be small, so they just start working(off the default branch). The change turns out to be a large project and will need multiple contributors. So UserA issues... hg branch "Feature1" and continues working, committing locally s needed. UserA then pulls down the changes from the central repo so he can push. At this point, why does hg heads return 3 heads? It shows 2 for default and 1 for Feature1. The first head for default is the latest change by another user on the branch(irrelevant). The second default head is the commit prior to the hg branch "Feature1" commit. The central repository has rules enforced so that only 1 head per branch is allowed, so forcing a push isn't an option. The repo doesn't want multiple heads on the default branch. UserA should be able to push these changes so that other users can see the Feature1 branch and help out. I can't seem to find a way to "correct" this. I don't think I can re-write the branch of the initial commits for the feature, before it was a named branch. I know the initial changes before the named branch are technically on the default branch, but does that mean they will be heads until that Feature1 branch is merged?

I am getting this error: Rect.cpp:344: error: ‘memset’ was not declared in this scope But the problem is I have already included in my cpp file: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> And the same program compiles fine under ubuntu 8.04 gcc 4.2.4).     I've been looking into SQL recently and exploring a bit. in regards to Temp Tables I have discovered 3 different temp table types: 1) CREATE TABLE #TempTable 2) DECLARE TABLE @TempTable 3) SELECT * FROM (SELECT * FROM Customers) AS TempTable Now I understand the scope behind the #TempTable and the @TempTable types, but what about the derived table as in example 3? Where does this derived table get stored? and if it is declared in 1 transaction, can a 2nd transaction access it, or is the scoping of Derived Tables that same as example 1 and 2?

    I want to organize my c++ variables and functions in the following way: function prototypes in a header file "stuff.h", function implementation in "stuff.cpp", then say #include "stuff.h" in main.cpp (so I can call functions implemented in stuff.cpp). So far so good. Now I want to declare some variables in stuff.cpp that have global scope (so I can modify the variables in functions implemented in stuff.cpp and main.cpp). This doesn't seem to work. How can I do this?
