• SNMP in Java, specifically to be JMX adapter.

  Hi, I have a few JAVA application that I monitor using JMX. I would like to write an SNMP client for these applications that wraps the JMX interface and by discovery exposes the same attributes that are exposed in JMX, through SNMP. I have no problem writing the client if I just figure out how to write SNMP clients in JAVA. Is there a free SNMP library for JAVA that I can use? Is there a good free SNMP adapter for JMX? (Tried "WebNMS SNMP Adapter for JMX" trial unsuccessfully) Thank you!

• Devise authenticating with username instead of email

  I'm new to Devise and have it working fine by using an email address as the authentication key. However, I have a use case which requires a username instead and I can't seem to get it working. I've added a string column, "username" to the users table, changed the fields from :email to :username in the sign-in form, and have changed the authentication key in devise.rb to :username yet when I go to sign in I'm met with this prompt: "Please enter an email address". Once i get the attribute list i am creating the radio buttons using createElement() 3. Then i am attaching the event to the radio button for onclick buttons. 4.   Can a user be a member of multiple Organization Units (OU) in Active Directory ? Also, is there a standard format mentioned by Microsoft on how an OU should be created and what its attributes are ? I found this in Wikipedia "However, Organizational Units are just an abstraction for the administrator, and do not function as true containers; the underlying domain operates as if objects were all created in a simple flat-file structure, without any OUs.   For example, if you want information of PHP functions, you can go to http://www.php.net/ . If you want information of Perl functions you can to to http://www.cpan.org/ and/or use perldoc. If you want information on Java you can go to http://java.sun.com and/or use javadoc. However, if you want information on Javascript methods/functions and their attributes, return values, etc. where do you go? The reason I ask is I was playing with the "focus()" method and wondering if it could be passed any values or if it returned anything when called. I have done a cursory Google search but haven't found much. Does such a beast exist or am I out of luck? Thanks for reading, and have a good day.

  I've installed propel bundle for symfony2. my database configuration is: propel: dbal: driver: pgsql user: postgres password: postgres dsn: pgsql:host=localhost;port=5432;dbname=test_database options: {} attributes: {} When i wan to create this database from console (console propel: database:create) i have got strange error : Unable to open PDO connection [wrapped: SQLSTATE[08006] [7] FATAL: database "pgsql" does not exist. i created pgsql database on my localhost and everything was good. Database "test_database" was succesfull created. Can somebody explain me why i got this previous error? On mysql i've created database without any problems.

• Organizing a random list of objects in Python.

  So I have a list that I want to convert to a list that contains a list for each group of objects. ie ['objA.attr1', 'objC', 'objA.attr55', 'objB.attr4'] would return [['objA.attr1', 'objA.attr55'], ['objC'], ['objB.attr4']] currently this is what I use: givenList = ['a.attr1', 'b', 'a.attr55', 'c.attr4'] trgList = [] objNames = [] for val in givenList: obj = val.split('.')[0] if obj in objNames: id = objNames.index(obj) trgList[id].append(val) else: objNames.append(obj) trgList.append([val]) #print trgList It seems to run a decent speed when the original list has around 100,000 ids... but I am curious if there is a better way to do this. Order of the objects or attributes does not matter. Any ideas?

  I've been writing C# for seven years now, and I keep wondering, why do enums have to be of an integral type? Wouldn't it be nice to do something like: enum ErrorMessage { NotFound: "Could not find", BadRequest: "Malformed request" } Is this a language design choice, or are there fundamental incompatibilities on a compiler, CLR, or IL level? Do other languages have enums with string or complex (i.e. object) types? What languages? (I'm aware of workarounds; my question is, why are they needed?) EDIT: "workarounds" = attributes or static classes with consts :)

• Plugin methods are missing in Firefox 3.6

  Hi, We have a plugin that we use to enable printing and saving from our app. We instantiate it using tag with all needed attributes, and then call Save() or Print() method on the document.embeds[0] object. This used to work perfectly on Firefox 3.5 and earlier, but it no longer works in Firefox 3.6. In 3.6, document.embeds[0].Save is null, that is our custom methods are not defined on this object. Any idea why this happens, and what has changed in Firefox 3.6 that causes it? Any idea on how to debug it and find the cause? And most important, any idea of a workaround that will allow us to access this methods? Thanks, splintor

• ActiveRecord Create (not !) Throwing Exception on Validation

  So I'm using ActiveRecord model validations to validate a form in a RESTful application. I have a create action that does: @association = Association.new and the receiving end of the form creates a data hash of attributes from the form parameters to save to the database using: @association = user.associations.create(data) I want to simply render the create action if validation fails. The problem is that the .create (not !) method is throwing an exception in cases where the model validation fails. Example: validates_format_of :url, :with => /(^$)|(^(http|https):\/\/[a-z0-9]+([\-\.]{1}[a-z0-9]+)*\.[a-z]{2,5}(([0-9]{1,5})?\/.*)?$)/ix, :message => "Your url doesn't seem valid." in the model produces: ActiveRecord::RecordInvalid Exception: Validation failed: Url Your url doesn't seem valid. I thought .create! is supposed throw an exception whereas .create is not. Am I missing something here? Ruby 1.8.7 patchlevel 173 & rails 2.3.3

I am now trying to code an NSPredicate to fetch entityTwo objects on the following basis: Fetch entityTwo objects that have a relationship with a specified entityOne object. Filter out those entityTwo objects which have no value for one of their attributes. I am best doing both of these in an NSPredicate or is there a better way?   I am trying to create a Single Table Inheritance. However, the Controller must be able to know which class to find or create. These are based on another class. For example, ContactEvent with type = Letter needs to grab attributes from a corresponding Model called Letter. Here's what I've tried to do and hit a snag, labelled below.   Hi, I'm creating a button dynamically using JavaScript and at the same time assigning attributes such as 'ID', 'type' etc and also 'onclick' in order to trigger a function. All works fine apart from the assignment of the 'onclick'. When clicked, the button is not triggering the function as it is supposed to. the function I'm trying to run is 'navigate(-1)' as seen below. Where am I going wrong?   Hello. well.. I use red5 and setting/getting attributes using the IConnection class but tha's really not relevant. 'L' means long in java. so 0L is 0 type Long instead of just '0' which is 0 type Integer. the following error message: stack trace: java.lang.ClassCastException: [Ljava.lang.Long; cannot be cast to java.lang.Long what's the difference between [Ljava.lang.Long and java.lang.Long ? thanks!
