  • How to find out where alias (in the bash sense) is defined when running Terminal in Mac OS X

    How can I find out where an alias is defined on my system? I am referring to the kind of alias that is used within a Terminal session launched from Mac OS X (10.6.3). For example, if I enter the alias command with no parameters at a Terminal command prompt, I get a list of aliases that I have set, for example, this is one of them alias mysql='/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql' However, I have searched all over my system using Spotlight and mdfind in various startup files and so far can not find where this alias has been defined ( I did it a long time ago and didn't write down where I assigned the alias).

  • Is there a better way than this to find out if an IsolatedStorage file exists or not?

    I'm using IsolatedStorage in a Silverlight application for caching, so I need to know if the file exists or not which I do with the following method. I couldn't find a FileExists method for IsolatedStorage so I'm just catching the exception, but it seems to be a quite general exception, I'm concerned it will catch more than if the file doesn't exist.     Duplicate: Where can I find free WPF controls and control templates? I am looking for some recommendations on good places to find libraries of controls/templates/styles for WPF. I know about the usual places like Infragistics, but it seems to me that there should be some kind of community effort by now to share nice, clean, well written controls for WPF controls. I am not big on the design side, and it would be nice to fill out my personal libraries with some nice examples from people who are better at design. Any ideas/recommendations?

  • How do you find time for improving your programming skills?

    I'm a Java/J2ee programmer working in India. I'm very passionate about programming and I constantly strive to hone my programming skills by reading blogs, solving Project euler questions, learning new technologies, developing small apps etc;. But I find it very difficult to manage my time. Working for 12 hrs a day in office leaves me stressed out and spend my weekends with my family. So i hardly have like 5-6 hrs per week to actually work on something of my interest which will help me improve. How do you manage time so that you find time to improve your current standing? EDIT: 12 hours includes 1hour of travel & 1 hr of break(lunch/coffee). Effectively I work for 10 hours per day in office which is mandated by my organization. -Snehal

  • Java: "Could not find the main class. Program will exit"

    I'm trying to run SQuirreL SQL. I've downloaded it and installed it, but when I try to run it I get this error message: Java Virtual Machine Launcher. Could not find the main class. Program will exit. I get the gist of this, but I have not idea how to fix it. Any help? more info: I'm on Windows XP pro. I have java 1.6 installed, and other apps are running OK. The install ran OK. I believe I've followed the installation instructions correctly. To run it, I'm invoking the squirrel-sql.bat file. Update This question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1417328/could-not-find-the-main-class gives some background on this error from the point of view of a java developer.

  • Could an ontology suitably replace an RDBMS for a web app?

    I'm considering storing the content of a web app in an RDF or OWL ontology instead of an RDBMS. However, when I research ontologies they seem to always exist in the context of publicly accessible data stores serving as the backbone of the semantic web. I've never heard of them being used as the content engine behind a web app. Is it reasonable to use an ontology instead of an RDBMS for such an application? (Again, this is just for content. User data, commerce and stuff like that will stay in a database as I see no need to reinvent the wheel there.)

    Hi, I like to see what a method in the Java API does. So I want the JDK Source Code. Before I re-installed Linux I had the scr.sip file with all the code in it. I just had to tell Eclipse this file and I could see the code. But now I haven't the file anymore... So the question is: Where can I find it? Please don't paste the Google results here. I searched already long, but I can't find it... I need just that file. Please be sure if it is the correct file before you answer. Answering by giving an URL is enough for me.   • xDebug cant find my files. Always looks in localhost

    I'm running win7-64bit, NetBeans 7.1.1 and WampServer 2.2 (which has xDebug) I've configured php.ini (xdebug.remote_enable=on, etc.) I create a directory (virtual host called example.dev) and add a test file. (c:/wamp/example/test-xdebug.php) I run debug in NetBeans and the following url displays: http://localhost/example/test-xdebug.php?XDEBUG_SESSION_START=netbeans-xdebug This fails. The browser coughs up the following error message. Not Found. The requested URL /example/test-xdebug.php was not found on this server. I add the correct path to the virtual host, and xDebug Runs Flawlessly: http://example.dev/test-xdebug.php?XDEBUG_SESSION_START=netbeans-xdebug Tried every configuration I could think of. If this is a php.ini config issue, I sure as heck cant find it. If its a NetBeans issue, there is not an option/interface to modify i (that I can find). Please illuminate! thanks sleeper

    Hi all Just a quick question Here's my situation: I've been maintaining, extending and creating websites against a CMS for the last 18 months In that time I've learnt a LOT more about ASP.Net, javascript, and of course the quirks of the CMS we are using My manager wants to get others involved, and I'm expected to mentor another programmer whilst they work on production code Now, I've got no problem mentoring someone and it would be great for me to not be the only one with the skillset. But what I HAVE got a problem with is mentoring someone within an agreed timescale of the piece of work (10 days in this case) AND expected to deliver the product to the same standard. I guess what I'm getting at is: 18 months experience != a few days mentoring, not to mention the level of C#/.Net/ASP.Net/Javascript required may also not be up to scratch. Am I right to think this is a little, wrong?

I found a blog post using the List's Find method along with a delegate, but whereas that example has a separate class (Person), I'm attempting something like the following using an instance of the string object: // My definition of the List object. List<string> lstAccountNumbers = new List<string>(); ... // I populate the List via its Add method. ... foreach (DataRow drCurrentRow in dtMyDataTable.Rows) { if (lstAccounts.Find(delegate(string sAccountNumber) { return sAccountNumber == drCurrentRow["AccountNumber"]; }) { Found_DoSomething(); } else { NotFound_DoSomethingElse(); } } However, with this syntax I'm receiving "Cannot implicitly convert type 'string' to 'bool'" for the if block. Could someone please clarify what I'm doing wrong and how best to accomplish what I'm trying to do?

    I am trying to run django on osx 10.7 (lion) with apache mod_wsgi and virtualenv. My site works if I use the django testing server: (baseline)otter:hello mathew$ python manage.py runserver but it doesn't work when I run apache. The core of the error seems to be Library not loaded: libmysqlclient.16.dylib I think its to do with the path apache is using to locate libmysqlclient.16.dylib when I run otool in the lib directory it looks good otter:lib mathew$ pwd /usr/local/mysql/lib otter:lib mathew$ otool -L libmysqlclient.16.dylib libmysqlclient.16.dylib: libmysqlclient.16.dylib (compatibility version 16.0.0, current version 16.0.0) /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.0.1) but from outside it can't find it otter:lib mathew$ cd / otter:/ mathew$ otool -L libmysqlclient.16.dylib otool: can't open file: libmysqlclient.16.dylib (No such file or directory) if i manually set DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH otool works otter:lib mathew$ DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/mysql/lib otter:lib mathew$ otool -L libmysqlclient.16.dylib libmysqlclient.16.dylib: libmysqlclient.16.dylib (compatibility version 16.0.0, current version 16.0.0) /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.0.1) When I run the django testing server, my .bash_profile sets up the virtualenv and the path to the mysql dynamic library export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/mysql/lib/:$DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH export PATH When i run apache it finds my virtualenv paths, but it doesn't seem to find the dynamic library path. I tried adding this path to /usr/sbin/envvars DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/lib:/usr/local/mysql/lib:$DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH" export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH and to /private/etc/paths.d/libmysql /usr/local/mysql/lib then restarted the machine but that has not changed the error message.   • Is VS 2010 SharePoint functionality good enough to replace WSP Builder?

    I have been using WSP builder up until now with VS 2008. I recently upgraded my IDE to VS 2010, and have heard that VS 2010 now includes functionality to work with MOSS directly. If you guys have had any experience with this new MOSS functionality and have come from a WSP builder background I would like to hear what you think. Just to add more focus to my question, I am not interested in ease of deployment at this stage, only the ability to wrap up a WSP package, so I can ship this off to production machines. So can VS 2010 out of the box create WSP packages from class library projects, like WSP Builder does?
