• parameter error in my Facebook app

  I have written a small app and put it on facebook. I got an application ID and secret. I was wondering how could I pass a value to a Java Method using ANT. Non of these classes have Main methods and will not have any main. Due to this I was unable to use it as a java system properties.   Hiring new programmers, especially in a small company, can often present a Catch-22 situation. We have too much work to do, so we need to hire new programmers. But we can't hire new programmers now, because they will need mentoring and several months of learning curve in your industry/product/environment before they're useful, and none of the programmers has time to be a mentor to a new programmer, because they're all completely swamped with the current work load. That may be a slightly frivolous way of describing the situation, but nevertheless, it's difficult for a small company on a tight budget to justify hiring someone who is not only going to be unproductive for a long time, but will also take away from the performance of the current programmers. How have you dealt with this kind of situation? When is the best time to hire someone? What are the best tasks to assign to a new team member so that they can learn their way around your code base and start getting their hands dirty as quickly as possible? How do you get the new guy useful without bogging your existing programmers down in too much mentoring? Any comments & suggestions you have are much appreciated!

  I can get this to work, but I feel as though I'm not doing it properly. • Javascript API not working for Chrome or Safari on JW Player 5.9

It works for IE8/9 and FF but fails for Chrome and Safari. Questions: 1) Why is my addition to the insert command not making its way to the sql being executed on the database? 2) Is there a simpler way to have my DataSet refreshed with the identity values of the inserted rows? 3) Should I use the OnRowUpdated callback to add my child records?   I am having a hard time getting ExternalInterface to work on Firefox. I am trying to call a AS3 function from javascript. The SWF is setup with the right callbacks and it is working in IE. I am using AC_RunActiveContent.js to embed the swf into my page. However, I have modified it to add an ID to the Object / Embed Tags. • spring 3 uploadify giving 404 Error

  I am using Spring 3 and implementing Uploadify. The problem is, the files are updating properly but it is giving HTTP Error 404, on completion of file upload. • Intercepting hyperlinks in an embedded Word document

  Hello, I'm working on an app which uses embedded Word documents. We have a feature which allows them to insert a small clickable image into the doc - when the user clicks on it, we want the app to open another window based on some data specified by the user when the image was added. What the application does now is: When the image is inserted, the app creates a hyperlink for it and the data is used as the link destination The user ctrl+clicks on the image and the Word document the WindowSelectionChange event The app handles the WindowSelectionChange event and goes to open the specified window This approach worked fine with previous versions, when we had the 11.0 / Word 2003 interop dll's. We upgraded to 12.0/Word 2007 for the upcoming release, and in many cases the event is not firing when I click on the image - sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, and I'm descending into the cargo-cult world trying to figure out why - sometimes saving and re-opening the document works, sometimes killing the Word process and starting a new one fixes (or breaks) the feature. My guess is there's something going wrong with the WinSelChg event, but I'm not sure what. The usual process we have for applying the event handler is: try //remove the old one if any { ((Document)myAXFramerControl.ActiveDocument).Application.WindowSelectionChange -= new ApplicationEvents4_WindowSelectionChangeEventHandler(WSC_eventhandlerfunction); } catch{} ((Document)myAXFramerControl.ActiveDocument).Application.WindowSelectionChange += new ApplicationEvents4_WindowSelectionChangeEventHandler(WSC_eventhandlerfunction); Sometimes one or both of these will throw exceptions - usually a NullReferenceException when removing the handler. Adding the handler sometimes throws the "com object that has been separated from its underlying rcw cannot be used" exception, which I don't understand at all - my impression was that this only occurs when you, say, store a reference to the Word application or document and try to use it later. As it stands the WSC event handler is frequently never run; while I'm happy to fiddle with the app until it works once I can't really expect the same of the users who have been happily using this feature for a while now. Any ideas?

• How do I browse a Websphere MQ message without removing it?

  I'm writing a .NET Windows Forms application that will post a message to a Websphere MQ queue and then poll a different queue for a response. If a response is returned, the application will partially process the response in real time. But the response needs to stay in the queue so that a daily batch job, which also reads from the response queue, can do the rest of the processing. I've gotten as far as reading the message. What I haven't been able to figure out is how to read it without removing it. Here's what I've got so far. I'm an MQ newbie, so any suggestions will be appreciated. And feel free to respond in C#. • How to remove a status message added by the seam security module?

  I would like to show a different status message, when a suspended user tries to login. If the user is active we return true from the authenticate method, if not we add a custom StatusMessage message mentioning that the "User X has been suspended". The underlying Identity authentication also fails and adds a StatusMessage. I tried removing the seam generated statusMessage with the following methods, but it doesn't seem to work and shows me 2 different status messages (my custom message, seam generated). What would be the issue here?   I have huge problem: I have lots of .dbf files(~50000) and I need to import them into Oracle database. Everything's fine. BUT: There is about 1000 files, that I can't open. They raise exception "not a table". So I google, and install Borland Database Engine. Now everything wokrs fine....but no. Now, when I'm reading files, on 1024 file exception raises: "System resource exceeded". But I have lots of free resources. When I remove BDE, everything's fine again, no "system resource exceeded" error, but I cant read all files. Help please. PS: Tried using ODBC but nothing changes.

  I have a simple form on an ASP.NET MVC site that I'm building. This form is submitted, and then I validate that the form fields aren't null, empty, or improperly formatted. However, when I use ModelState.AddModelError() to indicate validation errors from my controller code, I get an error when my view is re-rendered. In Visual Studio, I get that the following line is highlighted as being the location of the error: <%=Html.TextBox("Email")%> The error is the following: NullReferenceException was unhandled by user code - object reference not set to an instance of an object.
