  How can I get rid of validation messages telling me that: Login is too short (minimum is 3 characters) Login should use only letters, numbers, spaces, and .-_@ please. Password is too short (minimum is 4 characters) Password confirmation is too short (minimum is 4 characters) this happens even before map_openid_registration is called, thus not giving me any chance to fill login with something from returned registration Hash. I would like to have OpenID auto-registration (on login) without requiring user to supply login/password. I also won't make this fields "not required" or "not validated", since I still need them with old school login/password registration. Thank you

• ASP.NET MVC- Bizarre problem - suddennly lost all LINQTO SQL data context objects

  I was making an edit to a long existing project. Specifically I added some fields to a table and had to delete the table from the LINQTOSQL designer and re-add it. doesn't Also had to do the same for a view. Mode some other code changes and went to build . Now my project won't build because it can't resolve any of the data context objects (all tables and views) in my code. I don't know what I did or how this happeened. I have many tables and views in the project's L2S data context so I don't wont to try and do over. Please any suggestions on how to resolve this problem are greatly appreciated. Desparate! The error messages I am getting are the familiar The type or namespace name 'equipment' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

• Validation Rules in Webtesting using VS2010

  I'm creating a simple webtest (Recorded Web performance test) that makes sure that a correct error message is displayed if i try to login with a username that does not exist. However, there are two types of error messages that handle incorrect login info. One is for all the usernames that do not exist and therefore are not allowed, and the other is for usernames that start with the letter 'Q' (which is not allowed for a few reasons). Now what i want to do is use the 'Find Text' validation rule and the test should pass if ONE of the 'Find Text' parameters is found, and in that case i want the second 'Find Text' rule to be ignored so it doesn't fail the test. In other words the test should always pass if one of the 'Find Test' rules is found. How can i achieve that? Is there some if,else statement that i can use for this?

• Draw window with just borders

  How can I create a application window that is showing just the borders of the window, but i don't want to show the contents of the window itself. I mean i want to see the rest of the desktop or the others windows through the entire region of my window. No using transparences. Just draw the borders. I suppose it's like detecting the messages WM_ERASEBKGND and WM_PAINT and doing nothing in these cases to force not painting in the contens, but I have tried and window is still drawing a white background. How can i get it?

• Does XercesC contain an extensive logic of XMLSchema validation?

  Tried to implement a small XML validation tool with XercesC. For some reason I cannot use existing validators right from the box - I need some preprocessing and would like to combine it with validation in a single tool. I used DOM parser and specified DOMErrorHandler. Instead of a set of errors with detailed messages like I saw from xmllint for the same xml and xmlschema files, only one message appeared that document has a wrong structure without details. Probably, I did something wrong. But also assume XercesC doesn't contain xmllint functionality right from the box. Does anybody can give me a hint before I spent too much time? Thanks.

• iPhone - Browsing iPhone files through computer

  I want to be able to send files from an iPhone app to a computer. What would be the easiest way of doing this? I've made simple server client programs before, but in those, the client has always needed to connect to the server before being able to receive messages from it. There is an app for the iPhone called iSimulate, where you put a server on a Mac (the iPhone simulator), and then you use the iSimulate app of an iTouch or iPhone to send touch events to the server. This app does not require you to type in an ip-address. Instead it presents a list of available computers that have this server up and running. How exactly is this being done? Can a server broadcast a message over a network, w/o anyone being connected to the server? How does that work? How does a client listen for that broadcast?   Hi, First post here in SO. I have a question within the area of CMS (RedDot) and possible integration of some Lotus Notes functionality. I'm very fresh in both areas. From my short research (did not find very much material regarding RedDot) I got the following: Contents in RedDot CMS can be accessed (and modified?) via the RQL API. (basicly xml messages) There exists a API developed for Java (jRQL). Lotus Notes has a developer kit called Lotus Expeditor Toolkit. My vague question is something like this: Is it possible to integrate a some kind of "content approver/manager" or any other useful CMS functionality from Lotus Notes into the RedDot CMS system? In that case I was thinking of using the jRQL and Lotus Expediton Toolkit so that the back end is fully using Java. Or is there any better solution? Regards Fredrik

• where do I submit the ipad apps?

  I read Apple is allowing developers to submit iPad apps for the great opening of the ipad store, but I cannot find anything in my account that says that or allows sending the apps. Another thing is: in order for an app to be accepted you have to sign it with your own certificate but to do that you have to select the device on Xcode. As far as I know, Xcode do not signs with certificates applications that run on the simulator. Beyond that, any try to build a distribution package on Xcode shows messages like "you should disable armv6", and others. So, I ask. Is this news true? If yes, how to I manage to have the app ready for iPad and ready for submission? thanks.

• How do you measure latency in low-latency environments?

  Here's the setup... Your system is receiving a stream of data that contains discrete messages (usually between 32-128 bytes per message). As part of your processing pipeline, each message passes through two physically separate applications which exchange the data using a low-latency approach (such as messaging over UDP) or RDMA and finally to a client via the same mechanism. Assuming you can inject yourself at any level, including wire protocol analysis, what tools and/or techniques would you use to measure the latency of your system. As part of this, I'm assuming that every message that is delivered to the system results in a corresponding (though not equivalent) message being pushed through the system and delivered to the client. The only tool that I've seen on the market like this is TS-Associates TipOff. I'm sure that with the right access you could probably measure the same information using a wire analysis tool (ala wireshark) and the right dissectors, but is this the right approach or are there any commodity solutions that I can use?

  My team is trying to setup an Apache reverse proxy from a customer's site into one of our web applications. http://www.example.com/app1/some-path maps to http://internal1.example.com/some-path Inside our application we use struts and have redirect = true set on certain actions in order to provide certain functionality. The 302 status messages from these re-directs cause the user to break out of the proxy resulting in an error page for the end user. HTTP/1.1 302 Found Location: http://internal.example.com/some-path/redirect Is there any way to setup the reverse proxy in apache so that the redirects work correctly? http://www.example.com/app1/some-path/redirect

• No network packets sent immediately after quick physical disconnect and reconnect.

  I am using Boost's ASIO libraries to establish a UDP connection to a remote server. To make sure the connection is active, every second a keep-alive message is sent to the server. I have noticed that if I unplug the network cable and reinsert it quickly, the first 2 or 3 keep-alive messages after the reinsert are never sent. I tested this by running wire-shark on the server. I have seen it take up to 5 seconds before the client starts sending out network traffic again. The client is running under Linux (2.6.2), if that helps.

• Mono and Apache are serving files with no ASP.NET processing

  On a new Rackspace Cloud Server box (Ubuntu 9.10), I've installed apache2, libapache2-mod-mono, and mod-mono-server2. I've disabled mod_mono and enabled mod_mono_auto, but whatever I do, requests for Default.aspx return the actual contents of Default.aspx (in this case, "This is a marker file generated by the precompilation tool, and should not be deleted!") I've installed XSP, and it looks like it works okay, but I'd like to use Apache with mod_mono (seems a more common configuration) if I can get it running. However, this is no error messages and no hints, with Google obviously not terribly helpful. What else can I look for to make sure I'm configured correctly? How can I test further?

• Debugging 500 Internal Server Error on PHP running on IIS7 cluster

  Recently my ISP switched our website to an IIS7.0 high availibility cluster. The website is running on PHP5.2.1 and I can only upload files (so no registry tweaks). I had tested the website before and everything seemed to be working, but now the checkout page fails with: 500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. As error messages go, this isn't very informative. I've tried: ini_set('display_errors', 1); ini_set('error_log', $file_php_can_write_to ); but both don't seem to do anything. Anyone know how to get better debugging output?

• Advanced command line argument parsing in Java?

  Does anyone have any java examples for parsing a series of command line arguements in a robust way? I'm looking to be able to handle something like: java myapp [-l language] [-d int] [-f file1 file2 file3] I want to do this in a robust way so I can provide logical error messages to the user if they mistake a command line-option. Some of these options I'd like to make optional, etc, etc. Also, the -f file list should be able to handle a list of files. Is there some library out there to assist me in handling this?

  I wouldn't ask if i wasn't sure that i have 100% no idea why this isn't working, so, in PHP i'm simply trying to update a value in the MySQL database: The field im updating - Name: read - Type: tinyint - Length: 1 Here is the PHP code: do_SQL("UPDATE messages SET read=1 WHERE id='".$id."'"); The do_SQL function is working for everything else, so it's something wrong with this statement. • Drag and Drop text - What am I missing?

  I am trying to add drag-and-drop text to my Doc-View App. I added the COleDropTarget variable to the view class, registered it in OnCreate(). I added OnDragEnter(), OnDragOver(), OnDragLeave() and OnDrop() to that class as virtual overrides, but none of them are ever called. I previously had added m_pMainWnd-DragAcceptFiles(TRUE); to my App class. I tried commenting out that statement, but no affect. I tried using Spy++ to see where the messages go while I do a drag, but it logs nothing at all while I am dragging the text around in the App. What do I need? Or what else can I try, to narrow down the problem? TIA, Harvey

• Can Log4net have multiple appenders write to the same file?

  I'm using a RollingFileAppender to log some info to a file with a conversionPattern (in the web.config) that looks like this for the header of each log section: <conversionPattern value="%date - %property{userId} - %property{method}%newline--------------------------------%newline%message%newline%newline"/> I'd like to log details under this header as bullet points. I'm currently trying to use another RollingFileAppender that logs to the same file with a simple conversionPattern of just a dash, like this: <conversionPattern value="- %message%newline"/> But these messages aren't making it into the log file. I'm using Log.Info() for the header and Log.Debug() for the bullet points and filtering each appender on their respective log levels. Is what I'm trying to do possible? Or is there a better way to get header and detail information into a log file from log4net?

  Has anybody some information about accessing Lotus Domino server to fetch entire mail contents by http(s) requests from php linux server? The article by Andrei Kouvchinnikov describes well how to fetch message list in notes mail folders; after obtaining session id during login one can for example select top 100 messages by calling: https://your.server.domain/mail_db/mailbox.nsf/($Inbox)?ReadViewEntries&Start=1&Count=100 And this works perfectly. The problem arises when I am trying to get message contents (0A1DA5EEB7B65277C12576F50055D811 is an example message unique Id): https://your.server.domain/mail_db/mailbox.nsf/($Inbox)/0A1DA5EEB7B65277C12576F50055D811/?OpenDocument Such request in IE shows frameset with data hard to parse, in less common browsers like Opera it informs about unsupported browser. Ideally if it is possible to fetch notes message contents and all attachments by requesting it in the url, has anybody some information what request would it be? Link to Lotus web calls reference would be even more beneficial.

• Force exceptions language in English

  My Visual Studio 2005 is a French one, installed on a French OS. All the exceptions I receive during debug or runtime I obtain also in French. Can I however do something that the exceptions messages be in English? For goggling, discussing etc. I tried the following: Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = new CultureInfo("en-US"); throw new NullReferenceException(); obtained Object reference not set to an instance of an object. This is, surely, cool... but, as I work on a French project, I will not hardcode forcing Thread.CurrentUICulture to English. I want the English change to be only on my local machine, and don't change the project properties. Is it possible to set the exceptions language without modifying the code of the application? • CakePHP Bake association problem

  I have only two tables in my database with a one-to-many relationship between them (user hasMany messages) and am trying to get basic CRUD functionality going. Bake detects the associations correctly and specifies them correctly inside the model classes, but in controllers and views it looks like Cake doesn't know anything about those associations -- I don't even get a select tag for user_id when I go add a new message. Has anyone come across this problem before? What can I be doing wrong? • GCC, functions, and pointer arguments, warning behaviour

  I've recently updated to a testing distribution, which is now using GCC 4.4.3. Now I've set everything up, I've returned to coding and have built my project and I get one of these horrible messages: *** glibc detected *** ./boxyseq: free(): invalid pointer: 0x0000000001d873e8 *** I absolutely know what is wrong here, but was rather confused as to when I saw my C code where I call a function which frees a dynamically allocated data structure - I had passed it an incompatible pointer type - a pointer to a completely different data structure. warning: passing argument 1 of 'data_A_free' from incompatible pointer type note: expected 'struct data_A *' but argument is of type 'struct data_B *' I'm confused because I'm sure this would have been an error before and compilation would never have completed. Is this not just going to make life more difficult for C programmers? Can I change it back to an error without making a whole bunch of other warnings errors too? Or am I loosing the plot and it's always been a warning?

• Is it possible to write a Skype client?

  Is there any libraries for this? I will put this on a server and it will be a windows service. And Skype will not be installed on server. So Skype API will not mean anything I guess. Edit: I am sorry for not being clear. Here is what i need: I just need a Skype client which will act like a small bot. A person who uses Skype will ask it something like: print totalCreditsLoadedToday And it will answer: 567867867 credits. I need to write a windows service which will accept text messages from Skype and will send responses as text message (a very simple Skype client). I don't need voip support but Skype is a, errr customer requirement lets say. (And yes I suggested Google Talk but not accepted) But i need to achieve this without installing Skype to the server.
