  • Touch tone/DTMF "translator"?

    - by IVR Avenger
Hi, all. Does anyone know of a device that can be plugged into a telephone handset that will display the value of any telephone keys pressed by someone on the other end? So, if I'm on the phone and the other party dials "1234", I'd look down at the device plugged into my handset, and see "1234." Thanks! IVR Avenger

  • Clean thermal paste from touch contact points on the underside of the CPU

    - by Karolinger
I bought an used CPU (Intel "Core 2" E4700) on eBay and it came with the underside dirty with something that seems it´s thermal paste. Before I send it back, I wonder if it could it still work without cleaning this dirt because the seller supposedly "tested" it to be fully working. Final, is there a way to clean this dirt without damaging the CPU? Or, is it too risky (or too much work) to do so? This is the CPU:

  • How is Sencha Touch performing on Android in practice ?

    - by Vidar Vestnes
Hi I'm just about to start a project using Sencha Touch, and just done some minor testing on my HTC desire device. All tutorial videos at Vimeo seems to be using an iPhone emulator running on a Mac. Im not sure how fast this emulator is compared to a real iPhone device or even an real Android device, but from what i have experienced, it seems that my HTC desire is not performing that nicly as this emulator. All animations (sliding, fading, etc) seems abit laggy. You can easily notice that the FPS is much less than on the Vimeo videos. HTC desire is a relativly new and modern Android 2.2 phone, running with decent hardware, so im wondering if Sencha Touch is "ready" for the Android platform. Anybody with practical experience with Android and Sencha Touch ?

  • Detect ANY touch in a view (iPhone SDK)

    - by David
Hello, I'm currently using ... - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { to detect swipes. I've got everything working. The only problem is if the user touches on top of something (eg a UIButton or something) the - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { is not called. Is there something like touchesBegan but will work if I touch ANYWHERE on the view? Thanks in advance, David

  • Capture global touch events (Symbian)

    - by Leonth
Basically I wanted what the pys60 module keycapture does (global capture of keystrokes) but I wanted to do this with the touchscreen. So if the program is running, all touch events can be intercepted and logged by the program. How is this possible?

  • Accessing Amazon E-Commerce Services through Cocoa Touch

    - by Gregory Hill
Has anyone successfully accessed AWS (Amazon E-Commerce Services) through Cocoa Touch? I've been digging around, and haven't seen the issue addressed directly. I've created an AWS account, and have seen some sample code for accessing web services through Cocoa, but I'm not quite sure how to tie it all together. If anyone has any sample code, I'd love to see it. I'm just trying to get my head around the concepts.

  • How to handle touch events on UI Controls

    - by Sreelatha
Hi, I have a query related to Touch events on the UI controls. I have 4 controls on the screen ( UITextField, UISlider, UISwitch, UIButton ). If the user touches any of the control on the screen, I want to fire touchesBegan and touchesEnded events on those controls in which I would implement some code. Please let me know how to fire these events. Thanks in advance, Sreelatha.

  • touch multi UIViews

    - by user262325
Hello everyone There are a series UIViews arranaged very close. I hope when my finger touchs some of them, my app can detect which UIView touched. Maybe one or two or three.(because the displayed parts of each UIView are too thin). I hope to get the middle x value of the touch, then spread the UIView where the middle x value locates and the UIViews near it. Welcome any comment Thanks interdev

  • iphone sdk: finding the direction of scrolling in UIScrollView

    - by Alex1987
I have a UIScrollView with only horizontal scrolling allowed, and I would like to know which direction (left, right) the user scrolls. What I did was to subclass the UIScrollView and override the touchesMoved method: - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { [super touchesMoved:touches withEvent:event]; UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; float now = [touch locationInView:self].x; float before = [touch previousLocationInView:self].x; NSLog(@"%f %f", before, now); if (now > before){ right = NO; NSLog(@"LEFT"); } else{ right = YES; NSLog(@"RIGHT"); } } But this method sometimes doesn't get called at all when I move. What do you think?

  • What should I grab as a development platform, an iPod or an iPad?

    - by mmr
Hey all, I've recently gotten into the world of contract programming, and two of my clients have indicated that they'd like to do something 'trendy', like ipod touch/iphone/ipad development. I have a mac laptop (first gen macbook pro) that I'll have to upgrade to snow leopard to do the development for any of them, from what I've read. So that's already a bit of a commitment, given all the stuff I have on that laptop I'll have to make sure is recoverable from backup. My budget is limited, but I think I need to learn this skill. Which device should I get to learn this kind of development, an iPod touch or an iPad? I don't have the money for an iPhone. I think that the iPhone/iPad SDK has an emulator mode, but I like to have the device I'm going to roll out on available to make sure that everything works as I'd expect, ie, what's easily readable on a laptop screen is still readable on the touch, etc.

  • UIEvent timestamp

    - by skajam66
When handling a UIButton touch, you are given a UIEvent object. The UIEvent object has a timestamp which the Apple documentation states as being "the time that the event was created" (UIEvent Class Reference). In the documentation on the Main Event Loop, it states that: "The application object obtains the topmost object in the event queue, converts it to an event object (UIEvent) ..." Does [UIEvent timestamp] refer to the time at which the UIEvent object is created (i.e. after processing the touch event off of the main run loop and hance not remotely real-time) or does it refer to the time that the underlying touch object was created (and hence as close as possible to representing the actual time of the user touch9?

  • Soundboard app: Play sound as long as the user is pressing the button

    - by Pantelis Proios
    I am making a soundboard app and i am using sounds with over 30sec duration. I am playing the sound by connecting in IB my action with a "touch down" event, however the sound keeps playing once started. I connected in the some button a "touch cancel" & "touch up outside" event that is supposed to stop the sound but for some reason it doesn't. Can anybody provide a solution to my problem? ---Edit--- Here is my code: -(IBAction)playSound:(id)sender { NSString *soundFile; soundFile = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"testSound" ofType:@"mp3"]; audioPlayer = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:soundFile] error:nil]; audioPlayer.volume = volumeSlider.value; audioPlayer.numberOfLoops = -1; [audioPlayer prepareToPlay]; [audioPlayer play]; } -(IBAction)stopSound:(id)sender { [audioPlayer stop]; }
