• LACP : Cisco ASA 5515 & Switch ProCurve 2920

  I've two ASAs 5515 connected in failover Active/Stand by (on Gi0/5) My two ASAs are connected to two Switch ProCurve 2920 to have HA if something happens. So I plug something like that (don't pay attention to the arrows) : So one the ASA, I created a Port-Channel like that : interface GigabitEthernet0/0 nameif outside security-level 0 ip address 192.168.1.3 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.1.4 ! interface GigabitEthernet0/1 speed 1000 duplex full channel-group 1 mode passive no nameif no security-level no ip address ! interface GigabitEthernet0/2 speed 1000 duplex full channel-group 1 mode passive no nameif no security-level no ip address ! interface Port-channel1.1 vlan 1 nameif inside security-level 100 ip address 192.168.8.1 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.8.2 ! interface Port-channel1.10 vlan 10 nameif guest security-level 50 ip address 172.16.100.2 255.255.255.224 standby 172.16.100.3 ! interface Port-channel1.16 vlan 16 nameif dmz security-level 50 ip address 192.168.16.1 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.16.2 On the switch, I created a trunk LACP capable with the port 1 and 2 on each switch, force the speed to 1000 and put the port un full duplex mode. BUT this is not working... I tried many things and I can't make it work. In this configuration, I can't ping anything between my ASA and my Switch (or any object connected). • Wireless is disabled by hardware switch on Dell Inspiron 1750

  I have a problem where Ubuntu (12.04) says there is a wireless network card, but it is disabled by a hardware switch. How do I turn it on? I checked the BIOS, and the wireless card is enabled there. Fn + F2 was also no success. The results of rfkill list: 0: brcmwl-0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes 1: dell-wifi: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: yes Hard blocked: yes sudo rfkill unblock wifi did nothing to the Wireless Status.

• Why do I have to specify the -i switch with a backup extension when using ActivePerl?

  I cannot get in-place editing Perl one-liners running under ActivePerl to work unless I specify them with a backup extension: C:\> perl -i -ape "splice (@F, 2, 0, q(inserted text)); $_ = qq(@F\n);" file1.txt Can't do inplace edit without backup. The same command with -i.bak or -i.orig works a treat, but also creates an unwanted backup file in the process. Has anyone else faced similar issues? Is there a way around this?

• Why can't I get a TRUE return in this prepared statement?

  I can't seem to get this to do anything but return false.   I am using prepared statement for bulk insertion of records. Iam iterating a list which contains values and their dataTypes differ. One of the data type is BigDecimal and when i try to set calling preparedstatement, it is throwing null pointer exception.   I am new to C++ and am making a simple text RPG, anyway, The scenario is I have a "welcome" screen with choices 1-3, and have a simple IF statement to check them, here: int choice; std::cout << "--> "; std::cin >> choice; if(choice == 1) { //.. That works fine, but if someone enters a letter as selection (instead of 1, 2 or 3) it'll become "-392493492"or something and crash the program. So I came up with: char choice; std::cout << "--> "; std::cin >> choice; if(choice == 1) { //.. This works kinda fine, but when I enter a number it seems to skip the IF statements completely.. Is the char "1" the same as the number 1? I get a compiler errro with this (ISO-CPP or something): if(choice == "1") So how on earth do I see if they entered 1-3 correctly!?

  Recently I have started working with VS2010 and Fx4. There have been various challenges. We also introduced a new Database Project in our solution. And found this error. The reason for this error is: the project system expects the stored procedure as a create statement only.  The additional statements to drop if existing are not necessary within the project system.  Project deployment takes care of detecting if the sproc already exists and if it needs to be updated. To resolve this error you can simply remove the additional statements other then your create SP, Function etc. OR Exclude the file from build. Right Click on your file in Solution Explorer, Click Properties > Build Action > Not in Build

• Unit testing multiple conditions in an IF statement

  I have a chunk of code that looks something like this: function bool PassesBusinessRules() { bool meetsBusinessRules = false; if (PassesBusinessRule1 && PassesBusinessRule2 && PassesBusinessRule3) { meetsBusinessRules= true; } return meetsBusinessRules; } I believe there should be four unit tests for this particular function. Three to test each of the conditions in the if statement and ensure it returns false. And another test that makes sure the function returns true. Question: Should there actually be ten unit tests instead? Nine that checks each of the possible failure paths. IE: False False False False False True False True False And so on for each possible combination. I think that is overkill, but some of the other members on my team do not. The way I look at it is if BusinessRule1 fails then it should always return false, it doesn't matter if it was checked first or last.

Just make a word file and use it. share it with friend with many option. One best thing is this app have very simply UI then any other apps.   One more alternative is https://trello.com which you hear from joel on their blog http://www.joelonsoftware.com/items/2011/09/13.html There are many html5 and browser based, mobile based app. Many of them support multi platform feature. this means you can have them from PC to your Pocket. One good thing we all wanted is offline. if you are not online thing will be saved and push back to server when you will be online.   The biggest problem with some apps are they are attractive easy but hard to learn. Their one feature are not clearly defined what he does. This make frustration and confusion to user. When app are not simple to use people start stop trying to learn it. That’s all the problem I have with asana.com If you don’t want to try anything then what about Sticky Notes that is part of Windows 7. This app are still usable since you can store the text on it. If you know any good app to make a task list that provide access from tablet/mobile then put comment here. In the whole world of app there is a lot of app for doing this same thing differently. • Can I set up two computers up with the same monitors/keyboard/mouse in a modular way?

  I have a desktop computer computer (running Windows 7), and a laptop (running OSX Mountain Lion, and maybe Ubuntu 12 eventually). When the laptop is at home, I want both the desktop and the laptop to use the same (2+) monitors, the keyboard, and the mouse (or mice, if I add a track pad). I know about KVM switches, but I want something more complicated. I like to use Synergy to use both computers with one keyboard and mouse at the same time. Synergy requires that the keyboard and mouse be connected to one computer (the server), which shares them with other computers (clients) over wifi. the issue is that when one computer isn't logged in, Synergy doesn't work on it. Sometimes, I want my laptop to be the server (physically connected to the keyboard and mouse), and sometimes I want my desktop to be the server. This means that I need the keyboard/mouse/other USB devices to be able to switch computers without me playing musical plugs. To complicate things further, I don't always want the same desktop set up in terms of monitors. Sometimes, I want the desktop to have both monitors. Other times, I want the laptop to control both monitors. Sometimes I want the desktop to control one monitor, and the laptop to control the other. In any case, the keyboard and mouse need to be able to be physically connected to either computer without lots of fussing with plugs. This breaks down to at least this set of possible combinations: Desktop controls both monitors, and has a physical connection to keyboard and mouse Laptop controls both monitors, and has a physical connection to keyboard and mouse Desktop and laptop each control a monitor, but the desktop has a physical connection to the keyboard and mouse (which it shares with the laptop via wifi) Desktop and laptop each control a monitor, but the laptop has a physical connection to the keyboard an mouse (which it shares with the desktop via wifi) some usb devices connected via a usb hub need to be able to switch physical connection between computers, ideally without the keyboard and mouse switching computer connection There may be other combinations, but these are the main ones at the moment. Basically, I need a KVM switch which allows me to switch individual monitors/keyboard/mouse/usb hub between computers independently of each other, or a better solution. How can I set two computers up with the same monitors/mice/keyboard/usb hub without having to switch everything to one computer or the other all at the same time?

• HP Compaq 2510p wireless disabled by hardware switch

  I have an HP Compaq 2510p laptop running ubuntu 12.04 LTS. ubuntu reports that wireless is disabled by means of a hardware switch. There is a 'soft-key' button on the laptop to control the physical wireless hardware but this does not respond. There is no other button, slider, (fn)+ combination to control the physical wireless hardware. There is no BIOS function to disable wireless (and on XP - previous OS - wireless functioned fine). mike@ubuntu:~$ rfkill list all 0: brcmwl-0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes 1: hp-wifi: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no Running rfkill unblock all doesn't change things and I can see no way to change use from 0: to 1: (if that's even possible - or desirable - in the first place). I have checked for additional drivers and the Broadcom proprietary wireless driver is already installed and has a green light. Essentially, I believe I need to make the HP 'soft-keys' work - or at least the wireless card toggle. Advice gratefully received. Cheers M

• Update Manager is in Launcher and Alt-Tab list, but I can't switch to it

  The Update Manager recently started itself and found two updates. I can tell by the icon in the launcher. The icon has a (2) on it and a little white arrow saying the application is running. I can also see the update-manager process in a 'ps -A' list. Alt-Tab also shows the Update Manager. The problem is I can't get Update Manager to show up. If I click on the icon or Alt-Tab to it, nothing happens. I've never had any issues starting it manually, but when it starts on it's own after finding an update, I can't switch to it. What can I try to make this work better?

• Switch encoding of terminal with a command

  One of the servers I quite often ssh to uses western encoding instead of utf-8 (and there's no way I can change that). I've started writing a bash script to connect to this server, so I won't have to type out the entire address every time, but I would like to improve this script so it also changes the encoding of the terminal window correctly. The change I need to do can be performed using the mouse by navigating to "Terminal"-"Set Character Encoding..."-"Western (ISO-8859-1)". Is there a terminal command that does the same thing, for the current terminal window/screen? To clarify: I'm not interested in ways of switching the locale of the system on the remote site - that system is administered by someone else, and I have no idea what stuff might depend on the latin-1 encoding there. What I want to do is to let this terminal window on my side switch character encoding to the above mentioned, in the same way I can do with my mouse and the menus.

• Configuring mouse buttons to switch between apps?

  I just installed 14.04, so I'm using the default setup (Unity, I guess). I have these two extra mouse buttons on the side of my mouse. Is there any way to map these so they can switch between open apps? What would be perfect is if clicking on button 6 (or whatever it is) would cycle forward through apps, button 7 would go backwards, and holding one of the buttons would show the task list and let you click on the app you want. That's really what I want.

  I have an enumeration with the commands Play, Stop and Pause for a media player. In two classes I do a switch-case over the received commands. The player runs in a different thread and I deliver the commands in a command queue to the thread. If I generate class diagrams the enumeration has dependencies all over the place. Is there a nicer way to deal with the commands? If I would change/extend the enumeration, I would have to change several classes. (Its not super important to keep the player extensible, but I try to write nice software.)

  I'm using Lubuntu 12.04. I can set my mouse (basic usb mouse) to left hand (i.e. switch the left and right mouse buttons which is all I need) by going into Preferences / Keyboard and Mouse. However, it changes my Wacom stylus, so that when the tip touches the tablet it acts like the right mouse button, making it impossible to draw. Is there a way to have both happen at once? The stylus buttons working in right handed configuration, while the mouse works in left handed configuration? Thanks for any help/suggestions.
