  Hello, Let's say I have a class named Klass, and a class called Klass2. Depending on the user's input, I'd like to decide whether I'll call "hello_world" on Klass, or Klass2: class Klass def self.hello_world "Hello World from Klass1!" end end class Klass2 def self.hello_world "Hello World from Klass2!" end end input = gets.strip class_to_use = input puts class_to_use.send :hello_world The user inputs "Klass2" and the script should say: Hello World from Klass2! Obviously this code doesn't work, since I'm calling #hello_world on String, but I'd like to call #hello_world on Klass2. How do I "convert" the string into a referrence to Klass2 (or whatever the user might input), or how could I else would I achieve this behavior?

  I am trying to get a list of all existing model fields and properties for a given object. Is there a clean way to instrospect an object so that I can get a dict of fields and properties. class MyModel(Model) url = models.TextField() def _get_location(self): return "%s/jobs/%d"%(url, self.id) location = property(_get_location) What I want is something that returns a dict that looks like this: { 'id' : 1, 'url':'http://foo', 'location' : 'http://foo/jobs/1' } I can use model._meta.fields to get the model fields, but this doesn't give me things that are properties but not real DB fields.

  I am fairly new to programming in general, and have been following the CS193p videos on iTunesU. I am currently doing assignment 3, and am having trouble getting a bit of information from the View sent to the View Controller. I believe I have set up the whole delegation thing correctly, so the question really is to how to get my View Controller to see a bit of information (such as self.bounds.size.width), which is a property that only the View has. Would this involve using self.dataSource? And if so, through what means could I pass this bit of information? Thanks!!

  I have some python code that currently performs expensive computation by performing the computation in parallel through many threads. For a given time period, many threads are created and started on the fly that share the same code which is explicitly stated within the run method of the thread. My question is how do I stop/kill a thread at the end of its run method? If I take out the Module.new code and if I only leave class_eval in that case also I will have a method called foo in self. What am I missing.

So, my problem mainly is that my app crashes whenever i hit the button that it suppose to show a view of the world map. • An NSMutableArray that doesn't retain?

  A few UIViewControllers in my app that need to register with a "provider" class in their viewDidLoad methods. I've just been adding them to an NSMutableArray contained in the provider class. However, I don't want this NSMutableArray to keep them from being dealloc'ed, and I also want to have them remove themselves from the NSMutableArray in their dealloc methods. I tried just issuing a [self release] after adding them to the array, and this works, but in order to avoid a crash when they get dealloc'ed, I have to issue a [self retain] right before I remove them. It seems like I'm doing something horribly wrong by retaining an object in it's own dealloc method. Is there a better way to store these values?

Oracle collaborated with leading technology vendors from the IT industry on both of these cloud management specifications. One of the specifications focuses "Infrastructure as a Service" ( IaaS )  cloud service model , while the other specification announced today focuses on "Platform as a Service" ( PaaS ) cloud service model. Earlier today Oracle , CloudBees, Cloudsoft, Huawei, Rackspace, Red Hat, and Software AG   announced the Cloud Application Management for Platforms (CAMP) specification that will be submitted to Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) for development of an industry standard, in an effort to help ensure interoperability for deploying and managing applications across cloud environments.  Typical PaaS architecture - Source : CAMP specification The CAMP specification defines the artifacts and APIs that need to be offered by a PaaS cloud to manage the building, running, administration, monitoring and patching of applications in the cloud. Its purpose is to enable interoperability among self-service interfaces to PaaS clouds by defining artifacts and formats that can be used with any conforming cloud and enable independent vendors to create tools and services that interact with any conforming cloud using the defined interfaces. Cloud vendors can use these interfaces to develop new PaaS offerings that will interact with independently developed tools and components. In a separate cloud standards announcement yesterday, the Distributed Management Task Force ( DMTF ), the organization bringing the IT industry together to collaborate on systems management standards development, validation, promotion and adoption, released the new Cloud Infrastructure Management Interface (CIMI) specification. Oracle collaborated with various technology vendors and industry organizations on this specification. CIMI standardizes interactions between cloud environments to achieve interoperable cloud infrastructure management between service providers and their consumers and developers, enabling users to manage their cloud infrastructure use easily and without complexity.
