  • MySQL Single Query Benchmarking Strategies

    Hello, I have a slow mySQL query in my application that I need to re-write. The problem is, it's only slow on my production server and only when it's not cached. The first time I run it, it will take 12 seconds, then anytime after that it'll be 500 milliseconds. Is there an easy way to test this query without it hitting the query cache so I can see the results of my refactoring? Thanks!

  • include a .tex file with spaces in the filename

    I am including chapters in my latex file one by one by using the \include{} statement, up till now I've had no problem with that. But I've recently written a chapter which I've saved under a name including spaces...because you can. Now the include{} statement apparently doesn't like spaces, and prints just the filename in my document in stead of the chapter. It is probably a pretty easy fix (apart from removing the spaces in the filename, ;-) ), but I can't find it.

    I need to create an aspect with a pointcut matching a method if: - Is public - Its class is annotated with @Controller - One of its parameters (can have many) is annotated with @MyParamAnnotation. I think the first two conditions are easy, but I don't know if its possible to accomplish the third with Spring. If it is not, maybe I can change it into: - One of its parameters is an instance of type com.me.MyType (or implements some interface) Do you think it's possible to achieve this?   • Tooltip steals mouse click

    I'm writing a custom TreeView from ScrollableControl. I decided to show tooltips when the mouse hovers over nodes with text too long to display. I find that when tooltips are shown, the user is not able to click the node to select it because (I think) he's clicking the tooltip window, not my control. Is there any easy solutions? As far I can see, System.Windows.Forms.TreeView don't have this problem. Thanks!

    With jquery it's very easy to insert some element inside another element using the selector technology, I am wondering if there is any python library that can do things similar with jquery, the reason is I want server side python program to produce the static pages, which needs to parse the html and insert something into it. Or other alternative, not in python language at all?     Hey guys, If I have an array structured like this: $array[index]['first_name'] $array[index]['last_name'] Is there an easy way to implode it into something like first_name last_name,first_name last_name, etc. for all the indices? Implode didn't seem to do what I wanted for something like this. Currently I'm just looping over the whole thing, but it's a SIGNIFICANT bottleneck.

  • Are there localization tools which spot content strings in xaml/wpf?

    When globalizing a wpf application with static resx classes, it's very easy to miss the odd label or button that has its Content property set to a hard coded string in a particular language, ie English. These should of course be moved off to a {x:Static ...} so they can be localised for each culture. Are there any tools which can spot this and warn you? Built in to VS would be ideal, but I'm thinking that 'style cop' type build tools would do the job as well.

  • Is there a "fancy" Ruby way to check whether a local variable is both defined and evaluates to true without using ands and ors?

    This is quite a quick question. I currently use do_this if (testvar ||= false) Which works just fine. But this approach unnerves me because while fast, it does not short-circuit like defined?(testvar) && testvar does, and it instantiates and assigns a value to a local variable that is subsequently never used, which seems inefficient. I enjoy the very reasonable fact that instance variables are nil before assignment, but I'd like for the situation to be just as easy for local variables.
