  • Protect .NET code from reverse engineering?

    - by Priyank Bolia
Obfuscation is one way, but it can't protect from breaking the piracy protection security of the application. How to make sure that the application is not tampered with, and how to make sure that the registration mechanism can't be reverse engineered. Also it is possible to make to convert C# app in native code, Xenocode is too costly. C# provides lot of features, and is the ideal language for my code, so writing in C++ again the whole codebase is out of question. Secure certificates can be easily removed from the signed assemblies in .NET

I am in the process of writing a Bluetooth scanner that locates and identifies mobile devices in the local vicinity. Is this something that I can accomplish using C#, or do I need to drop down into the C/C++ APIs? My application is targeting Windows XP and Vista. Pointers are appreciated. Thanks!

  • Drag and Drop file upload in Silverlight 4?

    - by Parvenu74
I'm working on re-writing a WinForms application into Silverlight. One use case in the WinForms app allows users to drag TIFF images (of faxes) from Outlook directly onto an "attach an image or fax to this case" control in the WinForms app. Is there a Silverlight 4 control which allows for the same functionality? It's important to realize that saving the file to the local filesystem and then selecting and uploading the file with a standard upload control will not meet the business requirements as outlined in the project.

  • Google Maps API V3 and stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString?

    - by Joseph
Hi, I'm writing up an iPhone app using the Google Maps API V3, and I was wondering if it is still possible the use the stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString function in the (void)webViewDidFinishLoad:(UIWebView *)webView function? A simple example being changing the map type (Assuming basic map setup): - (void)webViewDidFinishLoad:(UIWebView *)webView{ [webView stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:@"map.setMapTypeId(google.maps.MapTypeId.SATELLITE);"];} This was very possible the the 2.0 API, but I can't seem to get it right in the 3.0 API. Any insight would be much appreciated.

  • WPF in an MMC snapin

    - by Jason Hocker
Can someone provide some sample code for using WPF in a custom MMC snapin? I'm new to WPF, and I've understood the samples for writing MMC snapins, but I do not understand how to choose WPF instead of Winforms.

  • "Wrapping" a BindingList<T> propertry with a List<T> property for serialization.

    - by Eric
I'm writing an app that allows users search and browse catalogs of widgets. My WidgetCatalog class is serialized and deserialized to and from XML files using DataContractSerializer. My app is working now but I think I can make the code a lot more efficient if I started taking advantage of data binding rather then doing everything manually. Here's a stripped down version of my current WidgetCatalog class. [DataContract(Name = "WidgetCatalog")] class WidgetCatalog { [DataContract(Name = "Name")] public string Name { get; set; } [DataContract(Name = "Widgets")] public List<Widget> Widgets { get; set; } } I had to write a lot of extra code to keep my UI in sync when widgets are added or removed from a catalog, or their internal properties change. I'm pretty inexperienced with data-binding, but I think I want a BindingList<Widget> rather than a plain old List<Widget>. Is this right? In the past when I had similar needs I found that BindingList<T> does not serialize very well. Or at least the Event Handers between the items and the list are not serialized. I was using XmlSerializer though, and DataContractSerializer may work better. So I'm thinking of doing something like the code below. [DataContract(Name = "WidgetCatalog")] class WidgetCatalog { [DataMember(Name = "Name")] public string Name { get; set; } [DataMember(Name = "Widgets")] private List<Widget> WidgetSerializationList { get { return this._widgetBindingList.ToList<Widget>(); } set { this._widgetBindingList = new BindingList<Widget>(value); } } //these do not get serialized private BindingList<Widget> _widgetBindingList; public BindingList<Widget> WidgetBindingList { get { return this._widgetBindingList; } } public WidgetCatalog() { this.WidgetSerializationList = new List<Widget>(); } } So I'm serializing a private List<Widget> property, but the GET and SET accessors of the property are reading from, and writing to theBindingList<Widget> property. Will this even work? It seems like there should be a better way to do this.

  • Access Google Chrome's cache

    - by jldupont
Is it possible to access Google Chrome's cache from within an extension? I'd like to write an extension that loads a cached version of a page when the online one can't be accessed (e.g. Internet connectivity issue). Updated: I know I could write an NPAPI plugin accessible through an extension to accomplish this but I'd rather not suffer writing one... I am after a solution without resorting to NPAPI, please.

  • Visual studio has gone crazy trying to create files

    - by zachary
I downloaded Process Monitor and began monitoring my project directory that I am writing code in. I see endless entries every couple seconds of: Operation: Create File C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\csharp C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\code C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\web and so on for the rest of the templates Then it says the result is PATH NOT FOUND. What is happening? Has Visual Studio GONE CRAZY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • Java: Using Command line arguments to process the names of files

    - by Kat
I'm a writing a program that will determine the number of lines, characters, and average word length for a text file. For the program, the specifications say that the file or files will be entered as a command line argument and that we should make a TestStatistic object for each file entered. I don't understand how to write the code for making the TestStatistic objects if the user enters more than one file.

  • Numpy ‘smart’ symmetric matrix

    - by Debilski
    Is there a smart and space-efficient symmetric matrix in numpy which automatically fills [j][i] when [i][j] is written to? a = numpy.symmetric((3, 3)) a[0][1] = 1 print a # [[0 1 0], [1 0 0], [0 0 0]] An automatic Hermitian would also be nice, although I won’t need that at the time of writing.

  • Qt Sockets and Endianness

    - by cake
Hello I'm writing a program that uses QUdpSocket for transmiting data over the network. This is my first socket program, and I've come across an interesting problem called Endianness. My actual question in, do I have to worry about Endianness when I'm using QNetwork as my sockets library? If I do have to worry, what do I have to do to properly avoid Endianness problems? Thanks in advance.

  • Call task more than once in Rails 3 generator

    - by balexand
I'm writing a Rails 3 generator that creates two different models. Here's a very simplified example of what I'm trying to do: def my_generator_task invoke "model", ["foo"] invoke "model", ["bar"] end The problem is that the Thor invoke method only invokes a task once, so the second call to the "model" task never happens and the "bar" model is never created. Does anyone know an elegant way to accomplish this, preferably in a way that doesn't break the ability to run "rails destroy" with the generator?

I have an embedded database in an asp.net mvc project. If I try to write to the file, I sometimes get a write failed exception because the SQL Server can't write to the file. How can I check an ObjectContext, if its writeable, without actually writing something to the database?

  • How to extract data from a PDF?

    - by Fermin
Hi, My company receives data from an external company via Excel. We export this into SQL Server to run reports on the data. They are now changing to PDF format, is there a way to reliably port the data from the PDF and insert it into our SQL Server 2008 database? Would this require writing an app or is there an automated way of doing this?

  • RTS AI: where to start?

    - by awegawef
I'd like to begin tinkering around with an RTS AI, but I'm having trouble finding a good environment to work with, ie a game that has been already created. I have looked at Spring RTS and Bos Wars, but they don't seem to be conducive to creating simple examples. I am not totally opposed to writing my own game environment, it would just take a long time. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get my feet wet without programming my own game?

  • Any suggestions for testing extjs code in a browser, preferably with selenium?

    - by mm2001
We've been using selenium with great success to handle high-level website testing (in addition to extensive python doctests at a module level). However now we're using extjs for a lot of pages and its proving difficult to incorporate Selenium tests for the complex components like grids. Has anyone had success writing automated tests for extjs-based web pages? Lots of googling finds people with similar problems, but few answers. Thanks!
