  • Is there a publicly available CDN that hosts JSON2?

    - by Xavi
It's well known that Google and Microsoft host several common javascript libraries on their CDNs (content distribution networks). Unfortunately neither seems to host JSON2.js. I'm aware that I could upload a copy of JSON2.js to my server and serve it myself, but there are a number advantages CDNs offer that I would like to take advantage of. So with that in mind, are there any publicly available CDNs that host JSON2? If not, any idea why?

  • CSS3 Gradients to reproduce an 'inner glow' effect from Illustrator with border-radius applied

    - by iamfriendly
Hello all! First post on here so please be kind :) I am in the process of trying to get my head properly around CSS3 Gradients (specifically radial ones) and in doing so I think I've set myself a relatively tough challenge. In Adobe Illustrator I have created a 'button' style which can be seen here: http://bit.ly/aePPtV (jpg image). To create this image I created a rectangle with a background colour of rgb(63,64,63) or #3F403F, then 'stylized' it to have a 15px border radius. I then applied an 'inner glow' to it with a 25% opacity, 8px blur, white from the center. Finally, I applied a 3pt white stroke on it. (I'm telling you all of this in case you wished to reproduce it, if the image above isn't sufficient.) So, my question is thus: is it possible to recreate this 'button' using CSS without the need for an image? I am aware of the 'limitations' of Internet Explorer (and for the sake of this experiment, I couldn't give a monkeys). I am also aware of the small 'bug' in webkit which incorrectly renders an element with a background colour, border-radius and a border (with a different color to the background-color) - it lets the background color bleed through on the curved corners. My best attempt so far is fairly pathetic, but for reference here is the code: section#featured footer p a { color: rgb(255,255,255); text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px rgba(0,0,0,0.6); text-decoration: none; padding: 5px 10px; border-radius: 15px; -moz-border-radius: 15px; -webkit-border-radius: 15px; border: 3px solid rgb(255,255,255); background: rgb(98,99,100); background: -moz-radial-gradient( 50% 50%, farthest-side, #626364, #545454 ); background: -webkit-gradient( radial, 50% 50%, 1px, 50% 50%, 5px, from(rgb(98,99,100)), to(rgb(84,84,84)) ); } Basically, terrible. Any hints or tips gratefully accepted and thank you very much in advance for them!

  • How does CommandManager.RequerySuggested work?

    - by Andrei Rinea
The MSDN only states that Occurs when the CommandManager detects conditions that might change the ability of a command to execute. However I can't seem to find any traces of how this works, what I should be aware of / avoid etc... Does it just listen for input? (i.e.: mouse moves, keys pressed and so on)

  • Relative width for a CSS layout, fixed and fluid mix

    - by Alec Smart
Hello, I am trying to make a chatroom layout like the following: Now my problem is that I am not sure how to have the container box occupy the whole width and height (with valid doctype) and then make the center div grow if the window grows keeping the rest constant. i am well aware of js/css. so i just need some beginning guideline. i would like to avoid javascript to process and then set heights and widths.

  • Prolog - ASSERT and RETRACT

    - by KP65
I was wondering, I am aware you can use assert to add facts or rules or whatever if you have declared the predicate to be -:dynamic, but this only allows the changes that are made to be kept in that session only, e.g. if you close the prolog window then the database changes are lost. So I was wondering, is there any way of making it so that the assert and retract predicates can make permanent changes to the prolog .pl file? Thanks

  • Setting a UITableViewCell accessory type on some cells, but not all

    - by Sheehan Alam
    I have 8 cells that are being built in my UITableViewController. I would like to know how I can show a disclosure indicator on the 4th and 8th cells. Right now I am building it in - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath though I am fully aware it is going to add a disclosure indicator to every cell cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator;

  • Running cocos2d with iPhone SDK 4 GM

    - by the_great_monkey
I tried to build my (cocos2d 0.99.0-based) project with iPhone SDK 4 GM which was just released today. The reason is because I want to incorporate iAds in my apps. However I got 20 error messages which looks like errors in library calling. Can anyone tell me whether we can actually use cocos2d 0.99.0? I'm aware that 99.3 was released but they didn't mention any iOS 4 compatibilities.

  • Going to IE8 with DOCTYPE HTML 4.01 Transitional any suggestions appeciated.

    - by Marco Demaio
Hello, we use in all our pages in the 1st line of our HTML code the: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> We are moving on to the new IE8 and we would like to keep the DOCTYPE unchanged, is there any suggestions/warnings we better be aware of? I mean like: "Be careful that CSS min-width is not working anymore in IE8 transitional, be careful that it will screw up page in this and that, etc." Thanks!

  • Reliable way of generating unique hardware ID

    - by mr.b
Question: what's the best way to accomplish following. I have to come up with unique ID for each networked client, such that: it (ID) should persist once client software is installed on target computer, and should continue to persist if software is re-installed on same computer and same OS installment, it should not change if hardware configuration is modified in most ways (except changing the motherboard) When hard drive with client software installed is cloned to another computer with identical hardware configuration (or, as similar as possible), client software should be aware of that change. A little bit of explanation and some back-story: This question is basically age old question that also touches topic of software copy-protection, as some of mechanisms used in that area are mentioned here. I should be clear at this point that I'm not looking for a copy-protection scheme. Please, read on. :) I'm working on a client-server software that is supposed to work in local network. One of problems I have to solve is to identify each unique client in network (not so much of a problem), so that I can apply certain attributes to every specific client, retain and enforce those attributes during deployment lifetime of a specific client. While I was looking for a solution, I was aware of following: Windows activation system uses some kind of heavy fingerprinting mechanism, that is extremely sensitive to hardware modifications, Disk imaging software copies along all Volume IDs (tied to each partition when formatted), and custom, uniquely generated IDs during installation process, during first run, or in any other way, that is strictly software in its nature, and stored in registry or on hard drive, so it's very easy to confuse two Obvious choice for this kind of problem would be to find out BIOS identifiers (not 100% sure if this is unique through identical motherboard models, though), as that's the only thing I can rely on, that isn't duplicated, transferred by cloning, and that can't be changed (at least not by using some user-space program). Everything else fails as either being not reliable (MAC cloning, anyone?), or too demanding (in terms that it's too sensitive to configuration changes). Am I missing something obvious here? Sub-question that I'd like to ask is, am I doing it correctly, architecture-wise? Perhaps there is a better tool for task that I have to accomplish... Another approach I had in mind is something similar to handshake mechanism, where server maintains internal lookup table of connected client IDs (which can be even completely software-based and non-unique at any given moment), and tells client to come up with different ID during handshake, if duplicate ID is provided upon connection. That approach, unfortunately, doesn't play nicely with one of requirements to tie attributes to specific client during lifetime.

  • iPhone UISlider with two thumbs/indicators?

    - by ChrisW
Is anyone aware of a version of the iPhone UISlider control with two thumbs? I need a control that will allow specifying a range of values. The UISlider API docs would imply this isn't possible with the standard control, so I was wondering if anyone had a solution for this (or had solved it themselves).

  • Java - Lock Aspect Ratio of JFrame

    - by nasufara
Is it possible to lock the aspect ratio of a JFrame in Java Swing? For example, if my window is 200px by 200px, and the user wants to resize it, I want the ratio between the width and the height at 1:1, so that if the new width is 400px, the new height is forced to 400px. I'm aware of ComponentListener and componentResized, but I'm having difficulty not getting it to go into an infinite loop of resizing, because I'm resizing the window in a resize listener. Thanks!

  • XBAP childWindow control available similar to Silverlight 3 ChildWindow?

    - by some guy
The Silverlight 3 toolkit has a ChildWindow control for model popup like functionality. This is great. Anyone aware of a similar control that can be utilized via XBAP? http://silverlight.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Silverlight%20Toolkit%20Overview%20Part%204&referringTitle=Silverlight%20Toolkit%20Overview%20Part%203 The assumption is maybe someone ported the functionality back to WCF/XBAP? Trying to find a solution without going to 3rd party purchased controls (against current company policy).

  • Entity Framework 4 Table Valued Function

    - by Imran
Hi, I am aware that table valued functions are not supported in previous versions of entity framework. I was wondering if this is now supported in EF 4? I cant see my functions in the edm designer so i'm guessing they are not supported unless I am doing something wrong? If they are not supported is there a workaround? Thanks, Imran

  • The Command "File.BatchNewTeamProject" is not available in VSTS 2010

    - by TS
Hi, I am trying to automate the creation of team projects using a command built into VS 2010 called File.BatchNewTeamProject using a project settings file as an argument, and executing this as a process silently in the background from my c# win app. I am aware of a requirement that Team Explorer has to be open and connected to TFS before this command can run, however, when I start a process with devenv.exe, a fresh instance of visual studio pops up with Team Explorer not connected by default. How can I solve this problem?

  • Using the IE8 'Developer Tools' to debug earlier IE versions

    - by mieze
Hi guys and gals I am less than satisfied in my HTML/CSS/JS debugging of pages with IE6 and 7 specific bugs. I am aware that IE8 has a Firebug clone, called 'Developer Tools' installed. Is it possible to have IE8 installed (maybe on a VM, i don't mind), set it to compatibility mode (is there one for IE6?), then perform JS debugging and live HTML changes, using the IE8 Developer Tools, just like we can in Firebug? many many thanks mieze

  • Evaluate dynamically constructed JSP at runtime

    - by Sandy
I have a requirement where in the JSP page itself is created by the user and stored in the database. When viewing results we need to render this JSP to the client, evaluating all tags inside this JSP. I am aware that it is doable as OpenCMS and Blogger both implement this functionality. But, I just can't find the right way. Any pointers on how to do this? [Added] Note: I cannot write a temporary file on disk for the purpose :(

  • How should I map multidimensional to jagged arrays?

    - by mafutrct
I'd like to map Foo[,] to Foo[][] and back. There are simple solutions using loops, but isn't there something more elegant? In my specific case, this is required in this scenario: [DataContract] class A { // can't serialize this thingy private readonly Foo[,] _Foo; [DataMember] private Foo[][] SerializableFoo { get { // map here } set { // map here } } } I'm aware there are advanced solutions using IDataContractSurrogate but this seems to be overkill in my case.
