  • Solid Principle examples anywhere?

    We all write code with some patterns even when we dont realise it. I am trying to really understand some of the solid principles and how you apply this principles in the real world. I am struggling with the "D" my understanding on Dependency Inversion I sometimes confuse with Dependency Injection is that as long as you keep things depending on abstraction (IE:interfaces) you are done. Has anybody got a small c# sample that explains it? thanks

    I am trying to build a small table using NSString. I cannot seem to format the strings properly. Here is what I have [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%8@: %.6f",e,v] where e is an NSString from somewhere else, and v is a float. What I want is output something like this: Grapes: 20.3 Pomegranates: 2.5 Oranges: 15.1 What I get is Grapes:20.3 Pomegranates:2.5 Oranges:15.1 How can I fix my format to do something like this?

My question is: what is the best way to display status notifications to the user?   • Background Activity for Map in Android started again if phone orientation is changed

    Hi, i've developed an android app that's fetches an xml file and displays this data via several markers on the map. This works fine so far. The problem right now is that when i switch the orientation of the phone (portrait-landscape or vice versa) the markers disappear for a small moment, the xml processing is started again and then they reappear. Is there a way to prevent this re-loading of the file? It only takes about 2-3 seconds..so no big deal, but still disturbing

  • On a local network, are you able to password protect certain folders and how (in windows xp)?

I would like to share passwords over the network and other such things privately to my wife, the secretary, but would not like the sales people and others to have access to it, yet I need the others to have access to other folders/documents that I'd like to share.     Hi, I have a Microsoft LifeCam HD-5000 webcams. According to AMCap, the camera outputs a MJPEG stream at 30fps at 720p. I want to capture each JPEG frame in a small application without doing any preview or decompression/transcoding to minimize CPU utilization to the minimum possible. I'm a C# developer, but I'm new to DirectShow. Is there a simple way to capture the MJPEG stream frame by frame as its output from the camera in C#/.NET without decompressing it?

    For instance I have a main dialog, when I click a button a smaller dialog appears next to it. But it would be neat if the small one could somehow transition in, rather than simply appear. For instance using transparency, or zooming in, or sliding in from width=0 - full-width. Making an actual dialog do such things isn't too hard, but what about the controls within it? How might we approach this in a way that is reusable on different dialogs?

  • How significant are JPA lazy loading performance benefits?

    I understand that this is highly specific to the concrete application, but I'm just wondering what's the general opinion, or at least some personal experiences on the issue. I have an aversion towards the 'open session in view' pattern, so to avoid it, I'm thinking about simply fetching everything small eagerly, and using queries in the service layer to fetch larger stuff. Has anyone used this and regretted it? And is there maybe some elegant solution to lazy loading in the view layer that I'm not aware of?
