    When I tried to open a simple smile.png image using package com.java3d.java3d.graphics; import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.image.BufferedImage; import java.io.File; import javax.imageio.ImageIO; public class Texture { public static Render floor = loadBitMap("smile.png"); public Texture(){} public static Render loadBitMap(String fileName) { try { BufferedImage image = ImageIO.read(Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResource(fileName)); System.out.print(image==null); int width = image.getWidth(); System.out.println(width); int height = image.getHeight(); System.out.println(height); System.out.println(image.getRGB(4, 4)); Render result = new Render(width, height); image.getRGB(0, 0, width, height, result.pixels, 0, width); return result; } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println("CRASH!"); throw new RuntimeException(e); } } } it returns every pixel as -1; what could be causing this problem?   • live image edit , and crop

    - by 422
    I was just thinking, which is always dangerous. We use Valums Image uploader. Aside from that, I am looking for an inline image editor, but with a difference. User uploads an image ( lets say 800 x 600 ) Our system wants to see the image ( 170 x 32 ) now I know we can use php to resize images. But I was thinking, does anyone know of a system, where we can display the image, and user can scale, and crop image ( with say a predefined overlay ) By that they scale down to nearest acceptable size, and then click crop tool, which shows a div overlay with say 70% transparency that they can drag over the image, and then click crop. So image is cropped to exact size we need, then can save . I am sure I have seen some jquery stuff done like this, just cannot for life of me find it. Essentialy, we would like to offer a simple client side image processor, thats lightweight, and then the ability to save what they did . Sorry no code to show, as its more of a request. Regards

  • How do I create a background image on web page?

    - by kasha
    I am a new designer so hopefully this question isn't too basic! How do I create a background image on a webpage for a programmer? I designed the page in photoshop and I would like to know how to send the background image (the 25% opacity buildings overlay). I would be happy to send the main image (but it is too large and I imagine would slow the site and loading time drastically). here is the link to the design... http://problemio.com/home_page_1_1.pdf

  • Scan a Windows PC for Viruses from a Ubuntu Live CD

    - by Trevor Bekolay
    Getting a virus is bad. Getting a virus that causes your computer to crash when you reboot is even worse. We’ll show you how to clean viruses from your computer even if you can’t boot into Windows by using a virus scanner in a Ubuntu Live CD. There are a number of virus scanners available for Ubuntu, but we’ve found that avast! is the best choice, with great detection rates and usability. Unfortunately, avast! does not have a proper 64-bit version, and forcing the install does not work properly. If you want to use avast! to scan for viruses, then ensure that you have a 32-bit Ubuntu Live CD. If you currently have a 64-bit Ubuntu Live CD on a bootable flash drive, it does not take long to wipe your flash drive and go through our guide again and select normal (32-bit) Ubuntu 9.10 instead of the x64 edition. For the purposes of fixing your Windows installation, the 64-bit Live CD will not provide any benefits. Once Ubuntu 9.10 boots up, open up Firefox by clicking on its icon in the top panel. Navigate to http://www.avast.com/linux-home-edition. Click on the Download tab, and then click on the link to download the DEB package. Save it to the default location. While avast! is downloading, click on the link to the registration form on the download page. Fill in the registration form if you do not already have a trial license for avast!. By the time you’ve filled out the registration form, avast! will hopefully be finished downloading. Open a terminal window by clicking on Applications in the top-left corner of the screen, then expanding the Accessories menu and clicking on Terminal. In the terminal window, type in the following commands, pressing enter after each line. cd Downloadssudo dpkg –i avast* This will install avast! on the live Ubuntu environment. To ensure that you can use the latest virus database, while still in the terminal window, type in the following command: sudo sysctl –w kernel.shmmax=128000000 Now we’re ready to open avast!. Click on Applications on the top-left corner of the screen, expand the Accessories folder, and click on the new avast! Antivirus item. You will first be greeted with a window that asks for your license key. Hopefully you’ve received it in your email by now; open the email that avast! sends you, copy the license key, and paste it in the Registration window. avast! Antivirus will open. You’ll notice that the virus database is outdated. Click on the Update database button and avast! will start downloading the latest virus database. To scan your Windows hard drive, you will need to “mount” it. While the virus database is downloading, click on Places on the top-left of your screen, and click on your Windows hard drive, if you can tell which one it is by its size. If you can’t tell which is the correct hard drive, then click on Computer and check out each hard drive until you find the right one. When you find it, make a note of the drive’s label, which appears in the menu bar of the file browser. Also note that your hard drive will now appear on your desktop. By now, your virus database should be updated. At the time this article was written, the most recent version was 100404-0. In the main avast! window, click on the radio button next to Selected folders and then click on the “+” button to the right of the list box. It will open up a dialog box to browse to a location. To find your Windows hard drive, click on the “>” next to the computer icon. In the expanded list, find the folder labelled “media” and click on the “>” next to it to expand it. In this list, you should be able to find the label that corresponds to your Windows hard drive. If you want to scan a certain folder, then you can go further into this hierarchy and select that folder. However, we will scan the entire hard drive, so we’ll just press OK. Click on Start scan and avast! will start scanning your hard drive. If a virus is found, you’ll be prompted to select an action. If you know that the file is a virus, then you can Delete it, but there is the possibility of false positives, so you can also choose Move to chest to quarantine it. When avast! is done scanning, it will summarize what it found on your hard drive. You can take different actions on those files at this time by right-clicking on them and selecting the appropriate action. When you’re done, click Close. Your Windows PC is now free of viruses, in the eyes of avast!. Reboot your computer and with any luck it will now boot up! Alternatives to avast! If avast! and a liberal amount of Googling doesn’t fix your problem, it’s possible that a different virus scanner will fix your obscure issue. Here are a list of other virus scanners available for Ubuntu that are either free or offer free trials. See their support forums for help on installing these virus scanners. Avira AntiVir Personal for Linux / Solaris Panda Antivirus for Linux Installation and usage guide from Ubuntu F-PROT Antivirus for Linux ClamAV installation and usage guide from Ubuntu NOD32 Antivirus for Linux Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010 Bitdefender Antivirus for Unices Conclusion Running avast! from a Ubuntu Live CD can clean the vast majority of viruses from your Windows PC. • mkisofs - Floppy Image to Disk Image

    - by CommunistPancake
    I'm trying to compile MikeOS on windows. I've successfully (I think) created a floppy (.flp) image of the operating system. I want to convert it to a disk image (.iso) so I can run it in virtual box. I've tried mkisofs -quiet -V 'MIKEOS' -input-charset iso8859-1 -o disk_images/mikeos.iso -b mikeos.flp disk_images/ Which is the command in the Linux build script. It does create an ISO image, but when I try to run in in VirtualBox, I get a black screen. What am I doing wrong? Here's my build script.

  • on hover overlay image in CSS

    - by Juventus
    I need a div with picture bg to overlay an image (with some amount transparency) when hovered on. I need to be able to have one transparent overlay that can be used and reused throughout the site on any image. My first attempt was round-about to say the least. Because I found out you cannot roll-over an invisible div I devised a sandwhich system in which the original image is the first layer, the overlay is the second layer, and the original image is third layer again. This way, when you roll-over, the original image disappears revealing the overlay image over the original image: http://www.nightlylabs.com/uploads/test.html So it works. Kinda. Because of you cannot interact with an visibility:invisible element (why?!) the roll-over flickers unless you rest the cursor on it. Any help? This method is bad so if anyone has a better one please comment.

    I have an image control with a source image located in my c drive. I get a message that the image is being used by another process whenever I try to delete the original image to change it with another one dynamically. How do I release the image from the image control to be able to delete it. I tried this variants: string path = ((BitmapImage)img.Source).UriSource.LocalPath; img.SetValue(System.Windows.Controls.Image.SourceProperty, null); File.Delete(path); And: string path = ((BitmapImage)img.Source).UriSource.LocalPath; img.Source = null; File.Delete(path) But it's not work...

  • Help Reading Binary Image Data from SQL Server into PHP

    - by Joe Majewski
    I cannot seem to figure out a way to read binary data from SQL server into PHP. I am working on a project where I need to be able to store the image directly in the SQL table, not on the file system. Currently, I have been using a query like this one: INSERT INTO myTable(Document) SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET(BULK N'C:\image.jpg', SINGLE_BLOB) as BLAH This works fine to actually insert the image into the table, but I haven't yet figured a way to retrieve it and get my image back. I am doing this with PHP, and ultimately will have to make a stored procedure out of it, but can anyone enlighten me on a way to get that binary data (varbinary(MAX)) and generate an image on the fly. I expected it to be simple to use a SELECT statement and add a content-type to the headers that indicated it was an image, but it's simply not working. Instead, the page will just display the name of the file, which I have encountered in the past and understand it to be an error with the image data.

  • An image from byte to optimized web page presentation

    - by blgnklc
    I get the data of the stored image on database as byte[] array; then I convert it to System.Drawing.Image like the code shown below; public System.Drawing.Image CreateImage(byte[] bytes) { System.IO.MemoryStream memoryStream = new System.IO.MemoryStream(bytes); System.Drawing.Image image = System.Drawing.Image.FromStream(memoryStream); return image; } (*) On the other hand I am planning to show a list of images on asp.net pages as the client scrolls downs the page. The more user gets down and down on the page he/she does see the more photos. So it means fast page loads and rich user experience. (you may see what I mean on www.mashable.com, just take care the new loads of the photos as you scroll down.) Moreover, the returned imgae object from the method above, how can i show it in a loop dynamically using the (*) conditions above. Regards bk

  • Trouble adding Image to a JPanel

    - by user1276078
    I'm making a video game, and I need to add an image to a JPanel and then add that JPanel to a JFrame. All of the tutorials I've seen say to add it to a JLabel, but the image needs to be able to move around. Unless you can move a JLabel around, I can't do that. How would I be able to add an Image directly to a JPanel. This is what I have so far, but it is just like it was on a JApplet class Penguin extends JPanel { public Image image; public void paintComponent( Graphics g ) { image = getImage( getDocumentBase(), "Penguins.jpg" ); g.drawImage( image, 0, 0, this ); } }

  • Delay the display of image loaded using jquery + ajax

    - by niczoom
    I am using the following code : $.ajax({ url: "pgiproxy.php", data: ({ data : $("#formdata").serialize(), mode : "graph"}), success: function(result){ var temp = $('<div/>').html(result); var val = temp.find('center').html(); $('#BFX').html(val); }, error: function(){ $("#error").html("ERROR !!!"); } }); The 'result' from the ajax call to 'pgiproxy.php' is a whole web page (returned as a string), this is then converted to a jQuery object and stored in 'var'. I then extract the data I need (a .gif image) using .find() which is stored in 'val'. This image is then inserted into a #BFX div for display. My problem is every successive time I click my button to update this image it shows the image loading from top to bottom as it is reading it in from the web. Is there a way to only display this image once it has fully loaded so the user doesnt see the image loading and only sees the image change instantly.

  • Light effect with image magick

    - by GuilhermeA
    Hello, I'm using ImageMagick to resize an image to a smaller size gif. In this process I'm trying to give the image a light effect, not a side-light, just like a shiny look all over. Not a good comparison but for a better understanding think of an image seen in a old screen or an image seen in glossy monitor - I'm trying to enhance the image the closest to this point. An important point is that I can't make a image-to-image treatment, it must be something that I can use in all the images. I know ImageMagick is a powerful tool, and can certainly do something for my images! Many thanks!

  • python convert 12 bit image encoded in a string to 8 bit png

    - by ks
    I have a string that is read from a usb apogee camera that is a 12-bit grayscale image with the 12-bits each occupying the lowest 12 bits of 16-bits words. I want to create a 8-bit png from this string by ignoring the lowest 4 bits. I can convert it to a 16-bit image where the highest 4 bits are always zero using PIL with import Image imageStr is the image string imageSize is the image size img=Image.fromstring("I", imageSize, imageStr, "raw", "I;16", 0,1) img.save("MyImage.png", "PNG") Anyway I can do something similar to create a 8-bit image without completely unpacking the string doing arithmetic and making a new string?

  • Ubuntu apt-get install linux-image

    - by Karl Kloppenborg
    I'd like someone to enlighten me as to what exactly goes on with aptitude when I want a kernel. As we all know, there's pretty much the following kernel option: linux-image-generic linux-image-server linux-image-virtual This morning I did an install and it had linux-image-generic on it, so I ran the following: apt-get -y remove linux-image-* This removed all my kernels as expected, I followed suit with running: apt-get install linux-image-virtual Says I've installed linux-image-server!? Am I missing something here, because I checked twice and it did it twice, however if I manually select a kernel (in my instance I used: linux-image-2.6.35-30-virtual) it will install linux-image-virtual. This seems rather strange to me? Details: Running Ubuntu 9.10 Am I missing something? :)

  • 11.04 64 bit live install cd freezes immediately on boot

    - by wrchis
    I am trying to install 11.04 alpha to a free set of partitions to try it out but neither the regular graphic installer or the alternate installer work. The graphic one freezes when I try to boot the cd (or cd image on usb stick rather) with a distorted static picture of my regular desktop repeated four times. I have an nvidia 240 graphics card if that is any help in diagnosis. I think it is a matter of getting the cd image to use a low rez video mode but I have no idea how to force that. I have used both the iso's from the regular page and the daily page (for several days so far) and they all do the same thing. I have tried both the internal utility and unetbootin to set up the stick with the same results. The alternate installer seems to work up to the point of the software selection step and then throws a 'failed step' error part way through.

  • Install Ubuntu on MacBook Pro without a CD

    - by Thomas Egan
    Trying to install Ubuntu server on my MacBook however the CD drive is not working. All the guides I have seen so far use the bootcamp process (same as for windows) to achieve this. I currently have a windows partition on my machine (it was installed with a CD when the drive was ok) which I'm going to remove before I do this. Is it possible to boot using the USB drive from the Mac bootloader using this method? I don't want to remove my Windows partition to find that I NEED a CD to do this. I would also prefer to have a separate partition as opposed to any sort of VM setup to do this.

  • Silverlight Image Loading Question

    - by Matt
    I'm playing around with Silverlight Images and a listbox. Here's the scenario. Using WCF I grab some images out of my database and, using a custom class, add items to a listbox. It's working great right now. The images load and appear in the listbox, just like I want them to. I want to refine and improve my control just a little more so here's what I've done. <ListBox x:Name="lbMedia" Background="Transparent" ScrollViewer.HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Disabled" ScrollViewer.VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Auto"> <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <c:WrapPanel></c:WrapPanel> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <im:MediaManagerItem></im:MediaManagerItem> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> Just a simple listbox. The datatemplate is a custom control and literally it contains a contentpresenter, nothing more. Now the class that I use as the ItemSource has a Source property. Here's what it looks like. private UIElement _LoadingSource; private UIElement _Source; public UIElement Source { get { if( _Source == null ) { LoadMedia(); return new LoadingElement(); } return _Source; } set { if( !( value is Image ) && !( value is MediaElement ) ) throw new Exception( "Media Source must be an Image or MediaElement" ); _Source = value; NotifyPropertyChanged( "Source" ); } } Essentially, on the get I check if the image/video has been loaded from the server. If it hasn't I return a loading control, then I proceed to load my image. Here's the code for my LoadMedia method. private void LoadMedia() { if( _Media != null && _Media.MediaId > 0 ) { //load the media BackgroundWorker mediaLoader = new BackgroundWorker(); mediaLoader.DoWork += mediaLoader_DoWork; mediaLoader.RunWorkerCompleted += mediaLoader_RunWorkerCompleted; mediaLoader.RunWorkerAsync(); } } void mediaLoader_RunWorkerCompleted( object sender, RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs e ) { if(_LoadingSource != null) Source = _LoadingSource; } void mediaLoader_DoWork( object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e ) { string url = App.siteUrl + "download.ashx?MediaId=" + _Media.MediaId; SmartDispatcher.BeginInvoke( () => { Image img = new Image(); img.Source = new BitmapImage( new Uri( url, UriKind.Absolute ) ); _LoadingSource = img; } ); } So as the code goes, I create a new image element, and set the Uri. The images that I'm downloading take about 2-5 seconds to download. Now for the problem / fine tuning. Right now my code will check if the source is null and if it is, return a loading element, and run the background worker to get the image. Once the background worker finishes, set the source to the new downloaded image. I want to be able to set the Source property AFTER the image has fully downloaded. Right now my loading element appears for a brief second, then there's nothing for 2-5 seconds until the image finishes downloading. I want the loading elements to stick around until the image is completely ready but I'm having troubles doing this. I've tried adding a a listener to the ImageOpened event and update the Source property then, but it doesn't work. Thanks in advance.

  • Scaling an image using the mouse in C#

    - by Gaax
    Hey guys... I'm trying to use the position of the mouse to calculate the scaling factor for scaling an image. Basically, the further you get away from the center of the image, the bigger it gets; and the closer to the center you get, the smaller it gets. I have some code so far but it's acting really strange and I have absolutely no more ideas. First I'll let you know, one thing I was trying to do is average out 5 distances to get a more smooth resize animation. Here's my code: private void pictureBoxScale_MouseMove(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (rotateScaleMode && isDraggingToScale) { // For Scaling int sourceWidth = pictureBox1.Image.Width; int sourceHeight = pictureBox1.Image.Height; float dCurrCent = 0; // distance between the current mouse pos and the center of the image float dPrevCent = 0; // distance between the previous mouse pos and the center of the image System.Drawing.Point imgCenter = new System.Drawing.Point(); imgCenter.X = pictureBox1.Location.X + (sourceWidth / 2); imgCenter.Y = pictureBox1.Location.Y + (sourceHeight / 2); // Calculating the distance between the current mouse location and the center of the image dCurrCent = (float)Math.Sqrt(Math.Pow(e.X - imgCenter.X, 2) + Math.Pow(e.Y - imgCenter.Y, 2)); // Calculating the distance between the previous mouse location and the center of the image dPrevCent = (float)Math.Sqrt(Math.Pow(prevMouseLoc.X - imgCenter.X, 2) + Math.Pow(prevMouseLoc.Y - imgCenter.Y, 2)); if (smoothScaleCount < 5) { dCurrCentSmooth[smoothScaleCount] = dCurrCent; dPrevCentSmooth[smoothScaleCount] = dPrevCent; } if (smoothScaleCount == 4) { float currCentSum = 0; float prevCentSum = 0; for (int i = 0; i < 4; i++) { currCentSum += dCurrCentSmooth[i]; } for (int i = 0; i < 4; i++) { prevCentSum += dPrevCentSmooth[i]; } float scaleAvg = (currCentSum / 5) / (prevCentSum / 5); int destWidth = (int)(sourceWidth * scaleAvg); int destHeight = (int)(sourceHeight * scaleAvg); // If statement is for limiting the size of the image if (destWidth > (currentRotatedImage.Width / 2) && destWidth < (currentRotatedImage.Width * 3) && destHeight > (currentRotatedImage.Height / 2) && destWidth < (currentRotatedImage.Width * 3)) { AForge.Imaging.Filters.ResizeBilinear resizeFilter = new AForge.Imaging.Filters.ResizeBilinear(destWidth, destHeight); pictureBox1.Image = resizeFilter.Apply((Bitmap)currentRotatedImage); pictureBox1.Size = pictureBox1.Image.Size; pictureBox1.Refresh(); } smoothScaleCount = -1; } prevMouseLoc = e.Location; currentScaledImage = pictureBox1.Image; smoothScaleCount++; } }
