  • execute a string of PHP code on the command line

    I'd like to be able to run a line of PHP code on the command line similar to how the following options work: :~> perl -e "print 'hi';" :~> python -c "print 'hi'" :~> ruby -e "puts 'hi'" I'd like to be able to do: :~> php "echo 'hi';" I've read that there is a -r option that can do what I need for php, however it doesn't appear to be available when I try to use it. I've tried using PHP 5.2.13 and PHP 4.4.9 and neither have an -r option available. I wrote this script (that I called run_php.php) - which works, but I'm not a huge fan of it just because I feel like there should be a more "correct" way to do it. #!/usr/bin/php5 -q <?php echo eval($argv[1]); ?> My question is: is there a -r option? If so, why is it not available when I run --help? If there is no -r option, what is the best way to do this (without writing an intermediary script if possible)? Thanks!

  • How do I get events to execute on the "main thread"

    I have 2 classes, one is frmMain a windows form and the other is a class in vb.NET 2003. frmMain contains a start button which executes the monitor function in the other class. My question is, I am manually adding the event handlers -- when the events are executed how do I get them to excute on the "main thread". Because when the tooltip balloon pops up at the tray icon it displays a second tray icon instead of popping up at the existing tray icon. I can confirm that this is because the events are firing on new threads because if I try to display a balloon tooltip from frmMain it will display on the existing tray icon.   • Execute a function to affect different template class instances

    I have a complicated problem, and I need help. I have a base case, class ParamBase { string paramValue; //... } and a bunch of class templates with different template parameters. template <typename T> class Param : public ParamBase { T value; //... } Now, each instance of Param has different template parameter, double, int, string... etc. To make it easier, I have a vector to their base class pointers that contains all the instances that have been created: vector<ParamBase*> allParamsObjects; The question is: How can I run a single function (global or member or anything, your choice), that converts all of those different instances' strings paramValue with different templates arguments and save the conversion result to the appropriate type in Param::value. This has to be run over all objects that are saved in the vector allParamsObjects. So if the template argument of the first Param is double, paramValue has to be converted to double and saved in value; and if the second Param's argument is int, then the paramValue of the second has to be converted to int and saved in value... etc. I feel it's almost impossible... Any help would be highly appreciated :-)

    I have the following GNU makefile: .PHONY a b c d a: b c b: d c: d d: echo HI I would like the target 'd' to be run twice -- since it is specified as a dependency by both b & c. Unfortunately, the target 'd' will be executed only once. The output of running make will simply be 'HI', instead of 'HI HI'. How can I fix this? Thanks!     I would like to display a Rails edit form using JS instead of redirecting with HTML. To do this, I use UJS for the edit link: <%= link_to "Edit user info", edit_user_path(1), :remote => true %> Then, the "edit" action of User controller is like this (simplified version): controllers/users_controller.rb: def edit # Step 1: Get the edit HTML form @html = render_to_string(:template => "users/edit.html") # Step 2: Use JS to display the form in the correct place render "users/edit.js" end As you may guess, I have two views: The html version of "edit" action which contains the form in HTML format. Let's consider a test version: views/users/edit.html.erb: <h1>This is just a test</h1> The js version that will display the form in the correct place, using jQuery for example. Again, for test purpose, let's just popup the html text: views/users/edit.js.erb: alert("<%= @html %>"); The problem is that nothing is executed (no popup) Using the inspector (from Chrome web browser), I get the response as text format: alert("<h1>This is just a test</h1>"); Do you have any idea?     I am currently try to integrate MEF and PRISM to work with each other. Everything is working fine so far. Now i would like to use MEF runtime module discovery (DeploymentCatalog) which will be used to download XAPs from server directory and then plug it into one of the Region inside my MAIN UI. I am using UnityBootStrapper and inside this class i also integrated MEF container. This sample application is based on Glenn Block (http://codebetter.com/glennblock/2010/01/03/mef-and-prism-exploration-mef-module-loading/). But I need that a PHP could run the application like that, then I want to know: How could I do this on a server that have exec() disabled and I can't turn it on, because I don't have privileges to do it? How could I echo the output of the program?

  • Execute 'stty raw' command in same terminal?

    I'm trying to put the console into "raw" mode in Java. I understand this will only work on UNIX. I'm using the command stty raw If I type the command into the terminal directly, it does what it's supposed to do. In Java, I try to set the mode like this: Runtime.getRuntime().exec("stty raw"); But the terminal does not go into raw mode. I have a feeling this is because Java is just executing the command in a virtual terminal in the background or something, rather than the active terminal. Is there a way to do this?

    I have a table with 200 rows. I'm running a cron job every 10 minutes to perform some kind of insert/update operation on the table. The operation needs to be performed only on 5 rows at a time every time the cron job runs. So in first 10 mins records 1-5 are updated, records 5-10 in the 20th minute and so on. When the cron job runs for the 20th time, all the records in the table would have been updated exactly once. This is what is to be achieved at least. And the next cron job should repeat the process again. The problem: is that, every time a cron job runs, the insert/update operation should be performed on N rows (not just 5 rows). So, if N is 100, all records would've been updated by just 2 cron jobs. And the next cron job would repeat the process again. Here's an example: This is the table I currently have (200 records). Order Product Checkout Complete Checkout & Capture CC Side notify CRM Done Not sure where to start, but I have had to make some small tweaks to fix the Quantum Gateway payment processor to work. In that module it appears that the objects for the order (email, amt, details) were available. However it seems it would be quite 'dirty' to insert more PHP code in there. Ideas? PHP 5.2.x & Magento 1.4.x

  • Failed to execute stored procedure from the JDBC code using mysql connection

    Hi, I have one database. I executed a stored procedure on it. I wrote some JDBC code to connect to this database. When I am calling this stored procedure from my JDBC code it is throwing SQLException. One interesting thing I found is that I have one user other than root user. This user has all the privileges to this database where the stored procedure is present. When I use the root user I am able to call the stored procedure successfully. But with the other user I am getting SQLexception. I am not able to find why it happens like this. For sure I want this user(other than root) has to call this stored procedure successfully. Can I optimize this behavior (reading once per day or session)? maybe to store a global variable and check the update date?
