This simple "DOMNodeList grouper" illustrate many little dilemmas: use iterator_to_array or "populate an array", when not all items need to be copied. use clone operator, cloneNode method or import method? use parentNode::method() or documentElement::method? (see here) first removeChild or first replaceChild, no avoids "side effects"? ... My position, today, is only "do an arbitrary choice and follow it in all implementations" (like a "Convention over configuration" principle)... But, there are another considerations? About performance, there are some article showing benchmarks? PS: this is a generic DOM question, any language (PHP, Javascript, Python, etc.) have the problem.

    I'm looking for a media manager that will display and play movies and TV shows and will read data included in mp4 and m4v files. So far I've looked at XBMC, Moovida and Boxee and all of these seem to keep their own separate database or XML files for reading and storing tag information. I also looked at Banshee because of this answer, but it didn't read my tags. Banshee is also geared towards music videos instead of actual movies and TV shows. So I'm looking for software that Displays and plays movies and TV Shows Reads mp4 and m4v tags Preferably something with bulk import (i.e., I don't want to add 1,000 items to a new library) Bonus if it also has a tag editor Bonus if it's an XBMC extension

    I've got a Samsung Series 5 Chromebook which I've installed Ubuntu on. In Chrome OS the clickpad is working great but in ubuntu it hasn't got the same settings so I'm having problems with selcting text.     I'm attempting too develop a 3rd party application to make it easy to import 3d model part's into my mod for skyrim the plan was to have a fileviewer and preview window of the nif model but since , I don't know what the NIF file format actually is or where to get the vertex data from it or the hole nine yards of parsing a text file in detail I'm at a lost what to do. I'm very good at C++ but not at this super over complicated file formats , id much prefer .obj over the nif file format specification here -- http://niftools.sourceforge.net/doc/nif/index.html If someone could help me in understanding the file format in a natural and simple way and the exact parsing needed to create the 3D Model in the frustum and a explanation on how you figured that out would be happy to know.     I was trying to install the newest version of libpcap (as the version in the repositories doesn't seem current) and ran into the following problem. I copied the tcpdump-workers.asc text from the tcpdump website (which hosts libpcap as well) and imported the key to my keyring using gpg --import tcpdump-workers.asc. That when all well and fine but when I tried to verify the libpcap-1.4.0.tar.gz file against the key with gpg --verify, I ended up getting the message that unexpected data. was found. I am wondering if anyone else has run into this problem as the ancient technique of googling my problem has done little to answer my question.

    How can I screen-capture an inactive (minimized / on another workspace) window in Ubuntu? Applications like ImageMagick's import are only able to capture active windows. When attempting to capture an inactive window, I get the following message: unable to read X window image `<id>': Resource temporarily unavailable @ error/xwindow.c/XImportImage/5023. Might be able to do this using Compiz, as it is able to render previews of inactive windows. Furthermore, in my specific case, the window I want to capture is run in a Wine Explorer-container. Inside that container the application is always active.

I want to store certain global settings, such as the age limit for news articles, admin contacts etc, in a file NOT within the database (i.e. to avoid unnecessary database query's) Where would the best place to store this be? global.asax? app.config? or a custom XML file? how would i import these at runtime?     My company is a broker in the real estate industry. As such, we send a lot of our listings to sites like Trulia.com and Zillow.com, among others. These sites direct leads to our realtors, and provide us with reports every month detailing the activity our listings have had on their site-- links back to our website, emails generated, etc. Our Marketing and Advertising departments want to take that information and enter it into a system to keep track of everything in one place, for the purpose of producing comparison reports. I cannot find any externally available product that provides this functionality. I would sincerely like to avoid writing this tool myself. Does anyone know of a tool that could do this?     Recently while working on a project to import data from an Excel worksheet using SSIS, I realized that sometimes the SSIS Package failed even though when there were no changes in the structure/schema of the Excel worksheet. I investigated it and I noticed that the SSIS Package succeeded for some set of files, but for others it failed. I found that the structure/schema of the worksheet from both these sets of Excel files were the same, the data was the only difference. How come just changing the data can make an SSIS Package fail?     I'm using GLEE2D, a level editor allowing me to import images, scale them, rotate them, and position them onto layers and export the data into XML format. However, it does not tell me objects' boundaries. I can calculate them, but only given the original image's polygons. How do I get polygons of objects in a transparent image? An example object (I outlined it): How would I turn the object, knowing the scaled size of the image, into polygons? Is there an algorithm for this? I'll use OpenGL to draw them.

  • ASP.Net MVC 2 DropDownListFor in EditorTemplate

    I have a view model that looks like this: namespace AutoForm.Models { public class ProductViewModel { [UIHint("DropDownList")] public String Category { get; set; } [ScaffoldColumn(false)] public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> CategoryList { get; set; } ... } } It has Category and CategoryList properties. The CategoryList is the source data for the Category dropdown UI element. I have an EditorTemplate that looks like this: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<ProductViewModel>" %> <%@ Import Namespace="AutoForm.Models"%> <%=Html.DropDownListFor(m => m.Category , Model.CategoryList ) %> NOTE: this EditorTemplate is strongly typed to ProductViewModel My Controller is populating CategoryList property with data from a database. I cannot get the DropDownListFor template to render a drop down list with data from CategoryList. I know CategoryList is getting populated with data in the controller because I see the data when I debug and step through the controller. Here's my error message in the browser: Server Error in '/' Application. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Source Error: Line 2: <%@ Import Namespace="AutoForm.Models"% Line 3: Line 4: <%=Html.DropDownListFor(m = m.Category, Model.CategoryList) % Source File: c:\ProjectStore\AutoForm\AutoForm\Views\Shared\EditorTemplates\DropDownList.ascx Line: 4 Any ideas? Thanks Tom As a followup, I noticed that ViewData.Model is null when I'm stepping through the code in the EditorTemplate. I have the EditorTemplate strongly typed to "ProductViewModel" which is also the type that's passed to the View in the controller. I'm perplexed as to why ViewData.Model is null even though it's getting populated in the controller before getting passed to the view.
