• How to extract terms of specific data constructor from a list in Haskell

  A common problem I got in Haskell is to extract all terms in a list belonging to a specific data constructor and I'm wondering if there are any better ways than the way I'm doing it at the moment. Let's say you got data Foo = Bar | Goo , the list foos = [Bar, Goo, Bar, Bar, Goo] and wish to extract all Goos from foos. At the moment I usually do something like goos = [Goo | Goo <- foos] and all is well. The problem is when Goo got a bunch of fields and I'm forced to write something like goos = [Goo a b c d e f | Goo a b c d e f <- foos] which is far from ideal. How you do usually handle this problem?

  I am storing the response to various rpc calls in a mysql table with the following fields: Table: rpc_responses timestamp (date) method (varchar) id (varchar) response (mediumtext) PRIMARY KEY(timestamp,method,id) What is the best method of selecting the most recent responses for all existing combinations of method and id? For each date there can only be one response for a given method/id. Not all call combinations are necessarily present for a given date. There are dozens of methods, thousands of ids and at least 356 different dates Sample data: timestamp method id response 2009-01-10 getThud 16 "....." 2009-01-10 getFoo 12 "....." 2009-01-10 getBar 12 "....." 2009-01-11 getFoo 12 "....." 2009-01-11 getBar 16 "....." I use a comma to concatenate two fields in [qry_Table2_Combined]. If the left join query uses a table created from the query [qry_Table2_Combined] it works as expected. Why does this left join query not give the same result for a query and a table? And how can i get the right results using a query in the left join?

  Afternoon chaps, Right, I'm constructing a fairly complex (to me anyway) search system for a website using Solr, although this question is quite simple I think... I have two search criteria, location and type. I want to return results that are exact matches to type (letter to letter, no exceptions), and like location. My current search query is as follows ../select/?q=location:N1 type:blue&rows=100&fl=*,score&debugQuery=true This firstly returns all the type blue's that match N1, but then returns any type that matches N1, which is opposite to what I'm after. Both fields are set as textgen in the Solr schema. Any pointers? Cheers gang

What is wrong?

  I have written several Subs to show/hide fields in a PivotTable. Now I am trying to do the same with a calculated field, but I get an error when hiding it. I took my code from the recorder and the recorder's code also halts on the last line. I googled the error message, without serious result. Sub PrRemove() 'remove PR Dim pt As PivotTable Set pt = ActiveSheet.PivotTables("MyPivot") pt.PivotFields("MyField").Orientation = xlHidden '<- here is the error End Sub The same code works fine if MyField is a normal field (not a calculated one). I am using Excel 2007 with SP2. Any clue ?

  I'm trying to use adodb for db access in my webapp. However my hosting provider has mysql case sensitive, and I have all my fields in lowercase. But when I call getInsertSQL function, I got them in uppercase. Is there a way to force adodb to use lowercase? I tried with define('ADODB_ASSOC_CASE', 0); $ADODB_ASSOC_CASE = 0; But it seems to be ignored as the constant is suppose to be used only with oracle, MSSQL and other DBMS $conn = &ADONewConnection($this->DbType); $conn = PConnect($dbServer,$dbUser, $dbPassword,$database); $tableName = "sample"; $insertSQL = $conn->GetInsertSQL($tableName,$objDB); And I got the SQL statement with the column names in uppercase.

• Javascript: Save json data as a file on the server / user's hard disk.

  I have developed an app that allows the user to fill out text fields with information. I want them to be able to press a button that will make a file with data (a really long array with info on what they typed and where it should go) so they can reload the data at a later date. I don't have a server now, and I am sending this app as a standalone html app to my friends for their use until I get hosing / mySql / etc. Is there a way that when they click on a button it will take this data (saved as an array, save_data), put it into a file, and basically begin the download process from their web-browser? And later on, what tech would I need to be looking into to save this into online user accounts?

  Hi, I'm building a registration script and I want to insert the user's input (username, mail) ONLY if it's not already in the database. What I usually do in such cases is a request to see if something's already there, something like: "SELECT * FROM things WHERE thing_name = '$treated_user_input'". I have two fields that need to be unique this time though. Is there a way to do only one SELECT request and still be able to tell the user exactly what field went wrong? Or do I have to do one request per unique field? Thanks for your answers.

If I wanted to be able to modify the template without re-compiling the app, how could this be achieved with the second option? How could you store data representing the templates in a database such that it could be modified without having to re-compile the app?

I tried following ways to refer it in a WSDL file but it doesnt work. 1) placed the xsd file in local file system and imported it as <xsd:import namespace="http://ws.test.com/" schemaLocation="file:///D:/wsdl/Foo.xsd"></xsd:import> 2) Placed the xsd file in web root folder and imported as <xsd:import namespace="http://ws.test.com/" schemaLocation="http://localhost:8080/Xfire/Foo.xsd"></xsd:import> When I run the client I get null for the fields of response object. But this works when I embed the type definition inside the WSDL itself. How do we specify the path to external xsds? I am using xFire 1.2.6 for generating webservices. Client is generated using xFire WSGen ant task.

  I heavily rely on Opera's speed dial and password management features. Lack of these two features is really stopping me from switching to another web browser such as Chrome or Firefox. Opera's password management has two unique characteristics which I rely on heavily: It saves passwords on all pages, (apparently) despite the page's meta data asking not to save passwords. It offers keyboard shortcut and button to automatically fill in username/passwords and all other fields in a login form, then automatically submit the form.   Hello- Using Drupal on a project which I made custom node types in using the CCK. I want to be able to search the specific node based on a custom field the node has. So let's say I have this node type Article which has a field "myfield", I want to be able to search for Articles based on the myfield field. I understand the default search module allows for searching of node types using the type:MyNodeType in the search, but I did not see any way to limit which fields are searched. Any tips? Is this something that is going to get crazy? Appreciate the help.

  I have models similar to the following: class Band(models.Model): name = models.CharField(unique=True) class Event(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=50, unique=True) bands = models.ManyToManyField(Band) and essentially I want to use the validation capability offered by a ModelForm that already exists for Event, but I do not want to show the default Multi-Select list (for 'bands') on the page, because the potential length of the related models is extremely long. I have the following form defined: class AddEventForm(ModelForm): class Meta: model = Event fields = ('name', ) Which does what is expected for the Model, but of course, validation could care less about the 'bands' field. I've got it working enough to add bands correctly, but there's no correct validation, and it will simply drop bad band IDs. What should I do so that I can ensure that at least one (correct) band ID has been sent along with my form? • What are the ways to create draw data structures for latex?

  I tried tikz/pgf a bit but have not had much luck creating a nice diagram to visualize bitfields or byte fields of packed data structures (i.e. in memory). Essentially I want a set of rectangles representing ranges of bits with labels inside, and offsets along the top. There should be multiple rows for each word of the data structure. This is similar to most of the diagrams in most processor manuals labeling opcode encoding etc. Has anyone else tried to do this using latex or is there a package for this?

• Can I prevent RequiredFieldValidation from triggering against postbacks from a specific control.

  I have a web form with a number of textbox controls which I've associated RequiredFieldValidator's with. I have a ValidationSummary control on the page to render any incomplete fields when I submit the page. However, I've just had to add an image upload facility to the same page, and have an 'Upload' button which I have posting back to perform the upload. I don't want this upload button to trigger the RequiredFieldValidators for the rest of the page though - I want this upload postback to be ignored as far as the validation goes. What's the best way to stop the RequiredFieldValidator's from firing when I submit this upload button on the page because at the moment, the upload won't occur unless I have first field out all of the other textbox controls on the page.

My question is what database structure would best suit something like this?
