My Requirement : At runtime , I get a string which contains a className ( could be A or B). I want to dynamically create an object of this class along with invoking the constructor. How can I achieve this . I don't want to use interfaces for common functionality of above classes Morever, later on I set the properties of this raw object using Propery Builder Bean Util class based on a list of columns . • Activator.CreateInstance with type name as string and including parameters

  I am working in .Net 3.5, looking at all the various constructors for Activator.CreateInstance. I want to create an instance of a class, calling a particular constructor. I do not have the class type, only its name. I have the following, which works, but actually winds up calling the parameterless constructor first, then the one I want. This is not a terribly big deal, but the parameterless constructor calls a rather busy base constructor, and the constructor I want to call does, too. In other words, given a type, calling CreateInstance with parameters is easy (only the last two lines below), but given only a type name, is there a better way than this? • Testing if a UI element is hidden in an OCUnit test

  I have a button that is hidden under certain circumstances that I wish to test. The button is hidden with [theButton setHidden: YES] in the viewDidLoad method if it is appropriate. For simplicity, lets say that the button is hidden when the buttonIsHidden property is set to true in the view controller. Right now I am trying the following: self.viewController = [[ViewController alloc] init]; self.viewController.buttonIsHidden = YES; [self.viewController loadView]; UIButton *theButton = [...] // function I wrote to retrieve the button based on it's touch up inside action if (theButton) { NSLog(@"%c", theButton.hidden); return (theButton.hidden == true) } return NO; It looks like the hidden property is not what it should be, the NSLog lines from the above code are blank. But, if I output another property like the height, it outputs the correct value so I know it is getting the right button. How do I access the hidden property of the button in this case?

• Using NSThread to solve waiting for image from URL on the iPhone

  So I have the following code in a method which I want to set a UIImageView image to that of one from an online source: [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(loadImage) toTarget:self withObject:nil]; Then in the method called by the thread I have this: - (void) loadImage { NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:logoPath]; // logoPath is an NSString with path details NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:url]; logoImage.image = [UIImage imageWithData:data]; } This works great however I get many warnings within the Debugger Console along the lines of: 2010-05-10 14:30:14.052 ProjectTitle[2930:633f] * _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x169d30 of class NSHTTPURLResponse autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking This occurs many times each time I call the new thread and then eventually, under no pattern, after calling a few of these threads I get the classic 'EXC_BAD_ACCESS' run-time error. I understand that this is happening because I'm not retaining the object but how can I solve this with the code in 'loadImage' shown above? Thanks

With passion for automation and elegancy, but limited knowledge/knowhow, im stuck with "my hands in my hair" as we Dutch say, for my current menu system works perfectly, but is a pain in the a*s to update! So, i would appreciate it greatly, if you can suggest how to automate this in php: how to let the php generate the html menu code basing on a flat menu input file with TABS indented. OLD SITUATION <ul> <!-- about 100 of these <li>....</li> lines --> <li><a href="carrot.php"><p class="mnu" style="background-position:0 -820px"><? echo __("carrot juice") ?></p></a></li> <!-- lots of data, with only little bit thats really the menu itself--> </ul a javascript file reads a ul/li structure as input to build menu of format in that ul/li, the items with a hyperlink and sprite-bg position represent webpages, (inside LI) while items without hyperlink and sprite-bg are just headers of that menusection, (inside H6) to highlight the current page in the menu, the javascript menumaker uses an id number. this number corresponds to the consequtive li that is a webpage, skips h6 headers correctly. these h6 headers are only there for when importing sections of the same menu as submenu. non-li headers are not shown in menu, nore counted by the javascript menu for their ID. to know which page should be shown, i have to count from ID 0, the li items till finding the current webpage in the li structure and then manually put it in each webpage! BUT: changing an item in li order, means stupidly re-counting their entire li again! each webpage has an icon (= sprite bg-position numer), which is also used in the webpage. INTENDED RESULT I dream of, once setting what the current webpage is (e.g carrot.php) the menu system automatically "finds" and "counts" the li's and returns the id nr (for proper highlight of main menu); generates the entire menu html, and depending on which headings are set for submenu, (e.g. meals, drinks) generates those submenu (entire section below each given header); ginally adds h5 highlight inside the li of that submenu item. For the menu, i wish an easily readable, simple plain txt menu that is indented with tabs, (each tab is one depth for example) and further tabs follow for url and sprite position of icon. • Using finch first time. How to play mp3,ogg or other formats (wav files to big) ?

  My *.wav's work as expected. But wav files are to big, so I want to play *.mp3 or *.ogg but it doesn't work. I use this lines of code found in the finch Demo project engine = [[Finch alloc] init]; sitar = [[Sound alloc] initWithFile:RSRC(@"sitar.wav")]; [sitar play]; So I only change sitar.wav into my .mp3 filename. Note 1: It mustn't be mp3 or ogg, any file format not as huge as wav should be ok, but which ? Note 2: I didn't know how to use sound, so I searched and found finch here at stackoverflow. It looks easy, so I would like to use that, but if you know some other easy way to play that sound files (ambient + effects sound with compressed codec) I would also switch to that other technique.

NULL is used correctly when the field is missing alltogether. Unfortunately, I have to be able to distinguish between NULL and 0 at this stage so any help would be appreciated. Thanks S.

• How do I redirect stdin/stdout when I have a sequence of commands in Bash?

  I've currently got a Bash command being executed (via Python's subprocess::Popen) which is reading from stdin, doing something and outputing to stdout. Something along the lines of: pid = subprocess.Popen( ["-c", "cmd1 | cmd2"], stdin = subprocess.PIPE, stdout = subprocess.PIPE, shell =True ) output_data = pid.communicate( "input data\n" ) Now, what I want to do is to change that to execute another command in that same subshell that will alter the state before the next commands execute, so my shell command line will now (conceptually) be: cmd0; cmd1 | cmd2 Is there any way to have the input sent to cmd1 instead of cmd0 in this scenario? I'm assuming the output will include cmd0's output (which will be empty) followed by cmd2's output. cmd0 shouldn't actually read anything from stdin, does that make a difference in this situation? I know this is probably just a dumb way of doing this, I'm trying to patch in cmd0 without altering the other code too significantly. That said, I'm open to suggestions if there's a much cleaner way to approach this.

• Finding final/effective web.config values (from inherited configurations)

  Are there any apps that can show the final configuration as applied to a particular application directory? What I'm picturing is something along the lines of FireBug's CSS viewer. Basically, it should show the equivalent single web.config file (as if you only had one), with all the values that apply to the directory in question, with each element (or even attribute) annotated with its source (the real .config file it came from). This would greatly help deploying applications into foreign environments (eg, customer sites) where they sometimes have strange configs, that add in global includes (eg, they put the include in machine.config, instead of the web.config for that app) or have allowOverride=false, etc.

• Easy framework for OpenGL Shaders in C/C++

  I just wanted to try out some shaders on a flat image. Turns out that writing a C program, which just takes a picture as a texture and applies, let's say a gaussian blur, as a fragment shader on it is not that easy: You have to initialize OpenGL which are like 100 lines of code, then understanding the GLBuffers, etc.. Also to communicate with the windowing system one has to use GLUT which is another framework.. Turns out that Nvidia's Fx composer is nice to play with shaders.. But I still would like to have a simple C or C++ program which just applies a given fragment shader to an image and displays the result. Does anybody have an example or is there a framework?

I have this simple block of mxml that I'm trying to convert to actionscript, but I'm stuck half way though <s:Rect id="theRect" x="0" y="50" width="15%" height="15%"> <s:fill> <s:SolidColor color="black" alpha="0.9" /> </s:fill> </s:Rect> I can convert the Rect no problem to private var theRect:Rect = new Rect(); theRect.x = 0; theRect.y = 50; theRect.width = "15%"; theRect.height = "15%"; then I'm stuck on the fill. What's the most efficient way to add the SolidColor in as few lines of code as possible.

Say the inner list of three elements in size and looks like this: ['apple', 'fruit', 1.23] The outer list looks like this data = [['apple', 'fruit', 1.23], ['pear', 'fruit', 2.34], ['lettuce', 'vegetable', 3.45]] I want to iterate through the outer list and cull data for a temporary list only in the case that element 1 matches some keyword (aka: 'fruit'). So, if I'm matching fruit, I would end up with this: tempList = [('apple', 1.23), ('pear', 2.34)] This is one way to accomplish this: tempList = [] for i in data: if i[1] == 'fruit': tempList.append(i[0], i[2]) is there some 'Pythonic' way to do this in fewer lines?

  I have 2 layers. A lines layer and a points layer. For any given line, how can I find the points that intersect the envelope of the line, but not the line itself, or more specifically, not the to point or from point of the line. I can obviously find all the points that intersect the line's envelope, and then do 1 by 1 tests on the found points to see if they intersect the to or from points of the line, but I was hoping there is an easier, faster way to do something of this nature.

  I'm trying to get rid of some hints(*) the Delphi compiler emits. Browsing through the ToolsAPI I see a IOTAToolsFilter that looks like it might help me accomplish this through it's Notifier, but I'm not sure how to invoke this (through what xxxServices I can access the filter). Can anyone tell me if I´m on the right track here? Thanks! (*) In particular, H2365 about overridden methods not matching the case of the parent. Not so nice when you have about 5 million lines of active code with a slightly different code convention than Embarcadero's. We've been working without hints for months now, and we kinda miss 'm. :-)

  Hello, I have trouble using sed. I need to replace some lines in very deprecated HTML sites which consist of many files. My script does not work and I do not why. When I tried to find exact pattern with Netbeas it worked. find . -type f -name "*.htm?" -exec sed -i -r 's/ing\. Šuhajda Dušan\, Mírová 767\, 518 01 Dobruška\, \+420 737 980 333\,/REPLACEMENT/g' {} \; Where is the mistake? • Can I customize the indentation of ternary operators in emacs' cperl-mode?

  In emacs cperl-mode, ternary operators are not treated specially. If you break them over multiple lines, cperl-mode simply indents each line the same way it indents any continued statement, like this: $result = ($foo == $bar) ? 'result1' : ($foo == $baz) ? 'result2' : ($foo == $qux) ? 'result3' : ($foo == $quux) ? 'result4' : fail_result; This is not very readable. • Using Linq to select a range of members in a list

  Given a list of elements like so: int[] ia = new int[] { -4, 10, 11, 12, 13, -1, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, -2, 6, 15, 32, -5, 6, 19, 22 }; Is there an easy way in Linq to do something along the lines of "Select the elements from the -1 up to the next negative number (or the list exhausts)"? A successful result for -1 would be (-1, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4). Using -2 would give the result (-2, 6, 15, 32). Not a homework problem. I'm just looking at an implementation using a bool, a for loop, and an if wondering if there's a cleaner way to do it.

All the tools I found makes a line diff. But they're not what I want, simply because i have no lines, but "strings" to compare. What I need is to have a char-based diff: eg. a diff that tells me something like " from the first file, remove char from 8 to 12, add the string "dinner" from char 8."

• Add CSS Class to link based on Character Count with jquery

  I have links that load dynamically onto a background to make them look like buttons. Some of the links take up two lines and some of the links take up 1 line. Eithe way they need to be vertically centered. My plan to to append a class based on the number of characters and then adjust the padding from there. So if the link's text is 25 characters (including spaces) or less - append class 'small' if the link's text is greater than 25 characters - append class 'large' How would I go about doing this with jQuery?

  When creating gems, I often have a directory structure like this: |--lib |-- helpers.rb `-- helpers |-- helper_a.rb `-- helper_b.rb Inside the helpers.rb, I'm just require-ing the files in the helpers directory. But I have to do things like this: $:.push(File.dirname(__FILE__) + '/helpers') require 'helper_a' require 'helper_b' Is there a way to make that one line so I never have to add to it? I just came up with this real quick: dir = File.join(File.dirname(__FILE__), "helpers") Dir.entries(dir)[2..-1].each { |file| require "#{dir}/#{file[0..-4]}" } But it's two lines and ugly. What's a slick one liner to solve this problem?
