  • Render an image with separate layers for shadows/reflections in 3D Studio Max?

    - by Bernd Plontsch
    I have a scene with a simple object standing on a ground in the center. Caused by lights and the ground material there is some shadow and reflection on the ground surrounding the object. How can I render an image containing 3 separate layers for the object the ground the reflection / shadow on the ground Which format to use for this (it should include all 3 layers + I should be able to enable/disable them in Photoshop)? How do I define or prepare those layers for being rendering as image layers?

  • TabHost / TabWidget - Scale Background Image ?

    - by user359519
    I need to scale my TabWidget background images so they maintain aspect ratio. I am using a TabHost with a TabWidget. I am then using setBackgroundDrawable to set the images. I found a close answer here - Background in tab widget ignore scaling. However, I'm not sure just where to add the new Drawable code. (Working with the HelloTabWidget example, none of my modules use RelativeLayout, and I don't see any layout for "tabcontent".) I also found this thread - Android: Scale a Drawable or background image?. According to it, it sounds like I would have to pre-scale my images, which defeats the whole purpose of making them scaleable. I also found another thread where someone subclassed the Drawable class so it would either not scale, or it would scale properly. I can't find it now, but that seems like a LOT to go through when you should just be able to do something simple like mTab.setScaleType(centerInside). Here's my code: main.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TabHost xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@android:id/tabhost" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:background="@drawable/main_background"> <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <FrameLayout android:id="@android:id/tabcontent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"/> <TabWidget android:id="@android:id/tabs" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="0"/> </LinearLayout> </TabHost> main activity: tabHost.setOnTabChangedListener(new OnTabChangeListener() { TabHost changedTabHost = getTabHost(); TabWidget changedTabWidget = getTabWidget(); View changedView = changedTabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(0); public void onTabChanged(String tabId) { int selectedTab = changedTabHost.getCurrentTab(); TabWidget tw = getTabWidget(); if(selectedTab == 0) { //setTitle("Missions Timeline"); View tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(0); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_timeline_on)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(1); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_map_off)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(2); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_search_off)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(3); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_news_off)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(4); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_license_off)); //ImageView iv = (ImageView)tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(0).findViewById(android.R.id.icon); //iv.setImageDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_timeline_on)); //iv = (ImageView)tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(1).findViewById(android.R.id.icon); //iv.setImageDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_map_off)); } else if (selectedTab == 1) { //setTitle("Spinoffs Around You"); View tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(0); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_timeline_off)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(1); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_map_on)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(2); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_search_off)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(3); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_news_off)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(4); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_license_off)); } I also tried 9patch images, but they wind up being too small. So, what's the best way to go about this?

  • c#: exporting swf object as image to Word

    - by Lynn
    Hello in my Asp.net web page (C# on backend) I use a Repeater, whose items consist of a title and a Flex chart (embedded .swf file). I am trying to export the contents of the Repeater to a Word document. My problem is to convert the SWF files into images and pass it on to the Word document. The swf object has a public function which returns a byteArray representation of itself (public function grabScreen():ByteArray), but I do not know how to call it directly from c#. I have access to the mxml files, so I can make modifications to the swf files, if needed. The code is shown below, and your help is appreciated :) .aspx <asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" text="export to Word" onclick="print2"/> <asp:Repeater ID="rptrQuestions" runat="server" OnItemDataBound="rptrQuestions_ItemDataBound" > ... <ItemTemplate> <tr> <td> <div align="center"> <asp:Label class="text" Text='<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Question_title")%>' runat="server" ID="lbl_title" NAME="lbl_title"/> <br> </div> </td> </tr> <tr><td> <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" id="result_survey" width="100%" height="100%" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/swflash.cab"> <param name="movie" value="result_survey.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" /> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="flashvars" value='<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "rank_order")%>' /> <embed src="result_survey.swf?rankOrder='<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "rank_order")%>' quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="100%" height="100%" name="result_survey" align="middle" play="true" loop="false" allowscriptaccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"> </embed> </object> </td></tr> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater> c# protected void print2(object sender, EventArgs e) { HttpContext.Current.Response.Clear(); HttpContext.Current.Response.Charset = ""; HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.UTF7; HttpContext.Current.Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache); HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentType = "application/msword"; HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment;filename=" + "Report.doc"); EnableViewState = false; System.IO.StringWriter sw = new System.IO.StringWriter(); HtmlTextWriter htw = new HtmlTextWriter(sw); // Here I render the Repeater foreach (RepeaterItem row in rptrQuestions.Items) { row.RenderControl(htw); } StringBuilder sb1 = new StringBuilder(); sb1 = sb1.Append("<table>" + sw.ToString() + "</table>"); HttpContext.Current.Response.Write(sb1.ToString()); HttpContext.Current.Response.Flush(); HttpContext.Current.Response.End(); } .mxml //################################################## // grabScreen (return image representation of the SWF movie (snapshot) //###################################################### public function grabScreen() : ByteArray { return ImageSnapshot.captureImage( boxMain, 0, new PNGEncoder() ).data(); }

  • Uploadify Minimum Image Width And Height

    - by Richard Knop
    So I am using the Uplodify plugin to allow users to upload multiple images at once. The problem is I need to set a minimum width and height for images. Let's say 150x150px is the smallest image users can upload. How can I set this limitation in the Uploadify plugin? When user tries to upload smaller picture, I would like to display some error message as well. Here is the PHP file that is called bu the plugin to upload images: <?php define('BASE_PATH', substr(dirname(dirname(__FILE__)), 0, -22)); // set the include path set_include_path(BASE_PATH . '/../library' . PATH_SEPARATOR . BASE_PATH . '/library' . PATH_SEPARATOR . get_include_path()); // autoload classes from the library function __autoload($class) { include str_replace('_', '/', $class) . '.php'; } $configuration = new Zend_Config_Ini(BASE_PATH . '/application' . '/configs/application.ini', 'development'); $dbAdapter = Zend_Db::factory($configuration->database); Zend_Db_Table_Abstract::setDefaultAdapter($dbAdapter); function _getTable($table) { include BASE_PATH . '/application/modules/default/models/' . $table . '.php'; return new $table(); } $albums = _getTable('Albums'); $media = _getTable('Media'); if (false === empty($_FILES)) { $tempFile = $_FILES['Filedata']['tmp_name']; $extension = end(explode('.', $_FILES['Filedata']['name'])); // insert temporary row into the database $data = array(); $data['type'] = 'photo'; $data['type2'] = 'public'; $data['status'] = 'temporary'; $data['user_id'] = $_REQUEST['user_id']; $paths = $media->add($data, $extension, $dbAdapter); // save the photo move_uploaded_file($tempFile, BASE_PATH . '/public/' . $paths[0]); // create a thumbnail include BASE_PATH . '/library/My/PHPThumbnailer/ThumbLib.inc.php'; $thumb = PhpThumbFactory::create(BASE_PATH . '/public/' . $paths[0]); $thumb->adaptiveResize(85, 85); $thumb->save(BASE_PATH . '/public/' . $paths[1]); // add watermark to the bottom right corner $pathToFullImage = BASE_PATH . '/public/' . $paths[0]; $size = getimagesize($pathToFullImage); switch ($extension) { case 'gif': $im = imagecreatefromgif($pathToFullImage); break; case 'jpg': $im = imagecreatefromjpeg($pathToFullImage); break; case 'png': $im = imagecreatefrompng($pathToFullImage); break; } if (false !== $im) { $white = imagecolorallocate($im, 255, 255, 255); $font = BASE_PATH . '/public/fonts/arial.ttf'; imagefttext($im, 13, // font size 0, // angle $size[0] - 132, // x axis (top left is [0, 0]) $size[1] - 13, // y axis $white, $font, 'HunnyHive.com'); switch ($extension) { case 'gif': imagegif($im, $pathToFullImage); break; case 'jpg': imagejpeg($im, $pathToFullImage, 100); break; case 'png': imagepng($im, $pathToFullImage, 0); break; } imagedestroy($im); } echo "1"; } And here's the javascript: $(document).ready(function() { $('#photo').uploadify({ 'uploader' : '/flash-uploader/scripts/uploadify.swf', 'script' : '/flash-uploader/scripts/upload-public-photo.php', 'cancelImg' : '/flash-uploader/cancel.png', 'scriptData' : {'user_id' : 'USER_ID'}, 'queueID' : 'fileQueue', 'auto' : true, 'multi' : true, 'sizeLimit' : 2097152, 'fileExt' : '*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.gif;*.png', 'wmode' : 'transparent', 'onComplete' : function() { $.get('/my-account/temporary-public-photos', function(data) { $('#temporaryPhotos').html(data); }); } }); $('#upload_public_photo').hover(function() { var titles = '{'; $('.title').each(function() { var title = $(this).val(); if ('Title...' != title) { var id = $(this).attr('name'); id = id.substr(5); title = jQuery.trim(title); if (titles.length > 1) { titles += ','; } titles += '"' + id + '"' + ':"' + title + '"'; } }); titles += '}'; $('#titles').val(titles); }); }); Now bear in mind that I know how to check images dimensions in the PHP file. But I'm not sure how to modify the javascript so it won't upload images with very small dimensions.

I am using the following code at the moment: <Canvas Name="cMin" Height="16" Width="16" Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="1"> <Canvas.Background> <ImageBrush ImageSource="_.png" Stretch="None" /> </Canvas.Background> <Border BorderBrush="Transparent" BorderThickness="1" Background="Transparent" CornerRadius="0" Height="18" Width="18"> <Border.Style> <Style TargetType="Border"> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="True"> <Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="LightBlue" /> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="False"> <Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="Transparent" /> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> </Border.Style> </Border> </Canvas> Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

    Okay so I am trying to adapt an online tutorial for CATiledLayer to use in my app. The example uses a PDF but I need to display a JPG. I'm getting close, but I just cant figure this out. • iPhone Image Processing--matrix convolution

    - by James
    I am implementing a matrix convolution blur on the iPhone. The following code converts the UIImage supplied as an argument of the blur function into a CGImageRef, and then stores the RGBA values in a standard C char array. CGImageRef imageRef = imgRef.CGImage; int width = imgRef.size.width; int height = imgRef.size.height; CGColorSpaceRef colorSpace = CGColorSpaceCreateDeviceRGB(); unsigned char *pixels = malloc((height) * (width) * 4); NSUInteger bytesPerPixel = 4; NSUInteger bytesPerRow = bytesPerPixel * (width); NSUInteger bitsPerComponent = 8; CGContextRef context = CGBitmapContextCreate(pixels, width, height, bitsPerComponent, bytesPerRow, colorSpace, kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast | kCGBitmapByteOrder32Big); CGContextDrawImage(context, CGRectMake(0, 0, width, height), imageRef); CGContextRelease(context); Then the pixels values stored in the pixels array are convolved, and stored in another array. unsigned char *results = malloc((height) * (width) * 4); Finally, these augmented pixel values are changed back into a CGImageRef, converted to a UIImage, and the returned at the end of the function with the following code. context = CGBitmapContextCreate(results, width, height, bitsPerComponent, bytesPerRow, colorSpace, kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast | kCGBitmapByteOrder32Big); CGImageRef finalImage = CGBitmapContextCreateImage(context); UIImage *newImage = [UIImage imageWithCGImage:CGBitmapContextCreateImage(context)]; CGImageRelease(finalImage); NSLog(@"edges found"); free(results); free(pixels); CGColorSpaceRelease(colorSpace); return newImage; This works perfectly, once. Then, once the image is put through the filter again, very odd, unprecedented pixel values representing input pixel values that don't exist, are returned. Is there any reason why this should work the first time, but then not afterward? Beneath is the entirety of the function. -(UIImage*) blur:(UIImage*)imgRef { CGImageRef imageRef = imgRef.CGImage; int width = imgRef.size.width; int height = imgRef.size.height; CGColorSpaceRef colorSpace = CGColorSpaceCreateDeviceRGB(); unsigned char *pixels = malloc((height) * (width) * 4); NSUInteger bytesPerPixel = 4; NSUInteger bytesPerRow = bytesPerPixel * (width); NSUInteger bitsPerComponent = 8; CGContextRef context = CGBitmapContextCreate(pixels, width, height, bitsPerComponent, bytesPerRow, colorSpace, kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast | kCGBitmapByteOrder32Big); CGContextDrawImage(context, CGRectMake(0, 0, width, height), imageRef); CGContextRelease(context); height = imgRef.size.height; width = imgRef.size.width; float matrix[] = {0,0,0,0,1,0,0,0,0}; float divisor = 1; float shift = 0; unsigned char *results = malloc((height) * (width) * 4); for(int y = 1; y < height; y++){ for(int x = 1; x < width; x++){ float red = 0; float green = 0; float blue = 0; int multiplier=1; if(y>0 && x>0){ int index = (y-1)*width + x; red = matrix[0]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index-1)] + matrix[1]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index)] + matrix[2]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index+1)]; green = matrix[0]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index-1)+1] + matrix[1]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index)+1] + matrix[2]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index+1)+1]; blue = matrix[0]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index-1)+2] + matrix[1]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index)+2] + matrix[2]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index+1)+2]; index = (y)*width + x; red = red+ matrix[3]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index-1)] + matrix[4]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index)] + matrix[5]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index+1)]; green = green + matrix[3]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index-1)+1] + matrix[4]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index)+1] + matrix[5]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index+1)+1]; blue = blue + matrix[3]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index-1)+2] + matrix[4]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index)+2] + matrix[5]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index+1)+2]; index = (y+1)*width + x; red = red+ matrix[6]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index-1)] + matrix[7]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index)] + matrix[8]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index+1)]; green = green + matrix[6]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index-1)+1] + matrix[7]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index)+1] + matrix[8]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index+1)+1]; blue = blue + matrix[6]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index-1)+2] + matrix[7]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index)+2] + matrix[8]*multiplier*(float)pixels[4*(index+1)+2]; red = red/divisor+shift; green = green/divisor+shift; blue = blue/divisor+shift; if(red<0){ red=0; } if(green<0){ green=0; } if(blue<0){ blue=0; } if(red>255){ red=255; } if(green>255){ green=255; } if(blue>255){ blue=255; } int realPos = 4*(y*imgRef.size.width + x); results[realPos] = red; results[realPos + 1] = green; results[realPos + 2] = blue; results[realPos + 3] = 1; }else { int realPos = 4*((y)*(imgRef.size.width) + (x)); results[realPos] = 0; results[realPos + 1] = 0; results[realPos + 2] = 0; results[realPos + 3] = 1; } } } context = CGBitmapContextCreate(results, width, height, bitsPerComponent, bytesPerRow, colorSpace, kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast | kCGBitmapByteOrder32Big); CGImageRef finalImage = CGBitmapContextCreateImage(context); UIImage *newImage = [UIImage imageWithCGImage:CGBitmapContextCreateImage(context)]; CGImageRelease(finalImage); free(results); free(pixels); CGColorSpaceRelease(colorSpace); return newImage;} THANKS!!!

  • How to save, retrieve and draw an image using Java and PostgreSQL?

    - by spderosso
    Given an object X; I want this object to have an image. The image must be stored in the database. I can't store the path, the actual image must be in the database. My question can be answered by answering the following subquestions: a). What type of field should I put in the database? (e.g VARCHAR) b) What type of object should I use for storing and manipulating the image (at an object layer)? (e.g java.awt.Image) c) How do I create an object of the type selected (answer of question b) from the data obtained from the database? d) How do I save an object of the type selected (answer of question b) to the database? e) How do I draw the image on a web page? I am using PostgreSQL, Java and it is a web application. Thanks!

  • Trying to save file from Flash to PHP using $GLOBALS["HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA"]

    - by jolyonruss
    Let me start by saying PHP isn't my forte, I'm usually reluctant to try working with it because of problems exactly like this. The code works fine on my local machine under MAMP and on my server, but doesn't on the clients server :'( So what am I trying to do, well - save an image from Flash onto the server, simple right?! I'm using the method described on this site here: http://designreviver.com/tutorials/actionscript-3-jpeg-encoder-revealed-saving-images-from-flash/ but have made a small alteration so that instead of echoing the jpg causing the browser to download it locally, I do an fwrite and an fclose to save it to the server. Here is my PHP: $imageFile = '../images/' . $_GET['name']; $imageHandle = fopen($imageFile, "w"); fwrite($imageHandle, $jpg); fclose($imageHandle); } ? I've dona a phpinfo() on my clients server and it's running 5.2.2 my host is running 5.2.11 I don't know if much can have changed in those 9 minor revisions? I've also read another question on here which suggests making suer always_populate_raw_post_data is set to ON, but it's set to OFF on all of the server environments I've been testing in. I'm doing some XML saving using file_get_contents('php://input') which I've tried but failed to get working with images. Any help would be gratefully received, I'm happy to post the AS3 as well but it's EXACTLY the same as example I've linked above and works locally. As far as I can tell the problem lies with the PHP. Cheers.

  • My button background seems stretched.

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
    Hi, I have a button as made for you to see here. Looks fine,right? Well on the live site, euroworker.no/shipping it seems stretched. Renders fine in Chrome, IE and Safari, I thought it might have been a FF issue, but loaded the fiddle into FF and seems fine. Quick ref CSS and html: #fortsett_btn { background-image: url(http://euroworker.no/public/upload/fortsett.png?1269434047); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:left; background-color:none; border:none; outline;none; visibility: visible; position: relative; z-index: 2; width: 106px; height: 25px; cursor:pointer; }? And HTML <button type="submit" class="submit" id="fortsett_btn" title="Fortsett" value="">&nbsp;</button>? I wonder what's up with it.

  • Rails + AMcharts (with export image php script) - PHP script converted to controller?

    - by Elliot
    Hey Guys, This one might be a little confusing. I'm using AMCharts with rails. Amcharts comes with a PHP script to export images called "export.php" I'm trying to figure out how to take the code in export.php and put it into a controller. Here is the code: <?php // amcharts.com export to image utility // set image type (gif/png/jpeg) $imgtype = 'jpeg'; // set image quality (from 0 to 100, not applicable to gif) $imgquality = 100; // get data from $_POST or $_GET ? $data = &$_POST; // get image dimensions $width = (int) $data['width']; $height = (int) $data['height']; // create image object $img = imagecreatetruecolor($width, $height); // populate image with pixels for ($y = 0; $y < $height; $y++) { // innitialize $x = 0; // get row data $row = explode(',', $data['r'.$y]); // place row pixels $cnt = sizeof($row); for ($r = 0; $r < $cnt; $r++) { // get pixel(s) data $pixel = explode(':', $row[$r]); // get color $pixel[0] = str_pad($pixel[0], 6, '0', STR_PAD_LEFT); $cr = hexdec(substr($pixel[0], 0, 2)); $cg = hexdec(substr($pixel[0], 2, 2)); $cb = hexdec(substr($pixel[0], 4, 2)); // allocate color $color = imagecolorallocate($img, $cr, $cg, $cb); // place repeating pixels $repeat = isset($pixel[1]) ? (int) $pixel[1] : 1; for ($c = 0; $c < $repeat; $c++) { // place pixel imagesetpixel($img, $x, $y, $color); // iterate column $x++; } } } // set proper content type header('Content-type: image/'.$imgtype); header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="chart.'.$imgtype.'"'); // stream image $function = 'image'.$imgtype; if ($imgtype == 'gif') { $function($img); } else { $function($img, null, $imgquality); } // destroy imagedestroy($img); ?>

  • How to made my background image strech if I dynamicaly insert DIV in the middle of the page

    - by Alain
    Hi, I have a background image which I apply to the body. The image is only in the bottom and stretch to the entire width of the page. The image is 1 X 320 px. body { background-image: url("../images/bg-main.gif"); background-position: 0% 100%; background-repeat:repeat-x; } The rest of my web site is in 1024 X 768 resolution. It works perfectly until I dynamically insert a new DIV in the middle of the page using javascript. It cause the browser scroll bar to appear and when I scroll down to the bottom, I can see the image stopping right at it's original position. How can I make my image get down again without reloading the page ??? I'm using the EXTJS framework to avoid reloading the page... Thanks Alain

  • Most efficient way to send images across processes

    - by Heinrich Ulbricht
    Goal Pass images generated by one process efficiently and at very high speed to another process. The two processes run on the same machine and on the same desktop. The operating system may be WinXP, Vista and Win7. Detailled description The first process is solely for controlling the communication with a device which produces the images. These images are about 500x300px in size and may be updated up to several hundred times per second. The second process needs these images to display them. The first process uses a third party API to paint the images from the device to a HDC. This HDC has to be provided by me. Note: There is already a connection open between the two processes. They are communicating via anonymous pipes and share memory mapped file views. Thoughts How would I achieve this goal with as little work as possible? And I mean both work for me and the computer. I am using Delphi, so maybe there is some component available for doing this? I think I could always paint to any image component's HDC, save the content to memory stream, copy the contents via the memory mapped file, unpack it on the other side and paint it there to the destination HDC. I also read about a IPicture interface which can be used to marshall images. What are your ideas? I appreciate every thought on this!

  • Using MinHash to find similiarities between 2 images

    - by Sung Meister
    I am using MinHash algorithm to find similar images between images. I have run across this post, How can I recognize slightly modified images? which pointed me to MinHash algorithm. Being a bit mathematically challenged, I was using a C# implementation from this blog post, Set Similarity and Min Hash. But while trying to use the implementation, I have run into 2 problems. What value should I set universe value to? When passing image byte array to HashSet, it only contains distinct byte values; thus comparing values from 1 ~ 256. What is this universe in MinHash? And what can I do to improve the C# MinHash implementation? Since HashSet<byte> contains values upto 256, similarity value always come out to 1. Here is the source that uses the C# MinHash implementation from Set Similarity and Min Hash: class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { var imageSet1 = GetImageByte(@".\Images\01.JPG"); var imageSet2 = GetImageByte(@".\Images\02.TIF"); //var app = new MinHash(256); var app = new MinHash(Math.Min(imageSet1.Count, imageSet2.Count)); double imageSimilarity = app.Similarity(imageSet1, imageSet2); Console.WriteLine("similarity = {0}", imageSimilarity); } private static HashSet<byte> GetImageByte(string imagePath) { using (var fs = new FileStream(imagePath, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read)) using (var br = new BinaryReader(fs)) { //List<int> bytes = br.ReadBytes((int)fs.Length).Cast<int>().ToList(); var bytes = new List<byte>(br.ReadBytes((int) fs.Length).ToArray()); return new HashSet<byte>(bytes); } } }

  • Matlab - Propagate points orthogonally on to the edge of shape boundaries

    - by Graham
    Hi I have a set of points which I want to propagate on to the edge of shape boundary defined by a binary image. The shape boundary is defined by a 1px wide white edge. I also have the coordinates of these points stored in a 2 row by n column matrix. The shape forms a concave boundary with no holes within itself made of around 2500 points. I want to cast a ray from each point from the set of points in an orthogonal direction and detect at which point it intersects the shape boundary at. What would be the best method to do this? Are there some sort of ray tracing algorithms that could be used? Or would it be a case of taking orthogonal unit vector and multiplying it by a scalar and testing after multiplication if the end point of the vector is outside the shape boundary. When the end point of the unit vector is outside the shape, just find the point of intersection? Thank you very much in advance for any help!

  • Reducing moire when downsampling halftone comic images.

    - by drawnonward
    How can I reduce moire effects when downsampling halftone comic book images during live zoom on an iPhone or iPad? I am writing a comic book viewer. It would be nice to provide higher resolution images and allow the user to zoom in while reading the comic book. However, my client is averse to moire effects and will not allow this feature if there are noticeable moire artifacts while zooming, which of course there are. Modifying the images to be less susceptible to moire would only work if the modifications were not perceptible. Blur was specifically prohibited, as is anything that removes the beloved halftone dots. The images are black and white halftone and line art. The originals are 600 dpi but what we ship with the application will be half that at best, so probably 2500 pixels or less tall. So what are my options? If I write a custom downsampling algorithm would it be fast enough for real time on these devices? Are there other tricks I can do? Would it work to just avoid the size ratios that have the most visual moire effects? As you zoom in an out, there are definitely peaks where the moire effects are worst. Is there a way to calculate what those points are and just zoom to a nearby scale that is not as bad? Any suggestions are welcome. I have very little experience with image and signal processing, but am enjoying the opportunity to learn. I know nothing of wavelets and acutance and other jargon, so please be verbose.
