  is there a problem if I don't setup google analytics in my website? I have read lot of articles describing use of google analytics but I have not added it in my site. In Cpanel I can check all things like stats, unique visitor etc and in google analytics its almost same but if I want sponsor for my site then is it necessary to have google analytics? or can cpanel stats be shown to sponsor?   Some may claim that this has already been asked, but I don't see MY problem in any of those posts. And if they actually have the same problem as mine, I may not understand what they've been trying to point out, actually. I hope you understand as to why I require a direct answer to the problem I'm having. I installed Ubuntu 14.04 along my Windows using a USB stick. It is possible to access my Windows (8.1) files from the folder page. I took off the Windows sticker, so I cannot get a Windows CD or anything from the support guys. I would delete my Windows partition then, but it's also tangled in this geeky mystery.   I am going to be buying a second hard drive for my desktop here pretty soon, because my current hard drive is a piece of junk running windows 7. What I want to know is how to install Ubuntu on the second drive. I am looking for a non complicated answer as I am not familiar with the Ubuntu lingo. I am so sick of Windows.. I used Ubuntu before but it didn't work properly. When i installed it, it said I didn't have enough space... Even tho I had 600GB to use. • Cannot boot from USB to install 12.10

  i am a long time user of Ubuntu and this is the first time a such thing happens to me. I usually upgrade from a version to an other, but this time i wish to do a clean install. I want to totally remove my 12.04 and do a clean install of 12.10, i created a live USB then i restarted my computer to boot from USB, i got the following error: Product is covered by one or more of the following patents: US5,434,872, US5,732,894, (and many more) Under that i see: PCIe GBE Family Controller Series v2.38 Media test failiure Exiting PXE ROM And then it reboots I've searched a lot for an answer, i guess the problem is with something in my bios, but i didn't find a fix. I would really appreciate a fix for my problem. My laptop is a Toshiba p775 dual boot ubuntu 12.04 and windows 7.

  Music Player, just like Web Browsers are an important part of today's application repertoire, and not only for entertainment reason. Having tried a few Linux Player over the past years i come to wonder, which Players you prefer and what kind of Players are out there, that you suggest are worth looking into and why!! I used Rhythmbox for a long time, but "Jamendo and Magnatune" plugin are both no longer available in 11.10 and also my covers are not shown, since i stream my music folder from a second partition. aTunes is another great Player, but there are also some flaws which i contacted the developers about.   This question already has an answer here: How did Google find my unlinked newly created pages? 3 answers I am working on a web project that has nearly 100 thousand instant users and there is a webpage that we are using for test cases. There are no links pointing to it from other pages. It shouldn't be indexed by Google or any other search engines. "noindex" can be used in this situation, I know but I wonder if Google (or any others) indexes this page, if I don't do anything to prevent it.

  I'm not sure if this would fit better in StackExchange/English, but regardless, there is no practical use to the answer, other than to cure my curiosity. Note this sentence at the end of the Artistic License 2.0: THE PACKAGE IS PROVIDED BY THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER AND CONTRIBUTORS "AS IS' AND WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES. It does not affect any legal aspects of the license, but is there a reason they mixed the use of single and double quotes on AS IS? The license is so new that this wouldn't have been for "command prompt friendly" reasons. Is there special use or meaning behind this in the English language, or was it a typo?

• How do you manage all of the information you have learned and found? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: How do you manage your knowledge base? What do you use for personal note taking to keep track of everything you learn? Are you always Googling or searching StackOverflow to answer the same questions? Or searching for and copying and pasting existing code? I feel like I have a poor memory, especially remembering things like syntax. Are there any knowledge management systems that would work well for a programming language or operating system? It would be great if there were a way to save everything I learn in an easy to search system. Does such a thing exist? Maybe you would be able to search by question (How to sort an array?, How to set static IP?), or by tag (sort, array, enumeration, iterator, IP). I know it would be easy to develop my own system, but I thought it would be great to learn what works for other people.

• Working environment

  I realise that this might not be the right place to ask questions about employment and that the question my raise debate etc. The company I work for recently decided that rather than having one web developer working on sites from a branch it would be better to make that person come into head office and work in the middle of a busy call centre. Also they're expecting the developer to answer the phone if it rings and take messages. Does anyone find that strange? Is it really the right place for a programmer to work? Thanks for the advice

• Problem installing Ubuntu 13.10 alongside Windows 8

  What I have: Sony Vaio laptop (SVE1512E6EW) with preinstalled Windows 8. I disabled Secure Boot some time ago in BIOS. I already had Ubuntu (previous version) installed on it, but removed it some time ago. After that, the default Windows boot menu is showing up everytime I boot up computer, and the only entry is Windows 8. What I did: Burned Ubuntu 13.10 DVD Restarted computer and booted from it Chosen Install Ubuntu (not Try Ubuntu) Created new ext4 partition from free space Installed Ubuntu on it What happened: After the installation I restarted computer. Windows default boot menu showed up (just as before) and the only entry was still Windows 8. If you have any additional questions I will try to answer them as fast as possible.

• Wireless hardware is not getting switched on in 12.04

  I have recently installed ubuntu 12.04 in sony vaio VPCEH. And updated all the available updates through update manager. When i switch on the bluetooth/wireless (hardware switch), only the bluetooth is turning on. For wireless, it shows as "hardware disabled". P.S: It was working fine few days before. Suddenly It is not turning on. i just get an answer for this question while googling. just enter the following command in the terminal. "sudo rfkill unblock all" This will unblock all hardware ports. that's it!!!!!! :) It works,..

• Does using a country domain (TLD) negatively effect a site's search ranking if the site content isn't country specific?

  I have a website in which the content is not country specific. The TLD is currently .it but the company is hosted and based in the United States. I'm wondering if a .it domain will negatively effect the site's search rankings. Is it better to use a .com TLD? For example (I don't actually own these domains), would the domain love.it have a worse ranking than loveit.com? (Assuming the content of the sites is the same) I've been searching everywhere for an answer with not much luck. Any advice would be very helpful.

• It would be nice to gain reputation in AskUbuntu from helping in Ubuntuforums [migrated]

  I know they are different but also they are very related. By implementing a reputation system in UbuntuForums you could harmonize points here and there. This would integrate both communities and avoid those competitive people to isolate from UbuntuForums (no idea the extent of this but I guess there is some of it). There are tons of questions never solved in UbuntuForums and that means people coming to AskUbuntu. That is plainly inefficient. Since there will not be a centralize system (different owners), why not to integrate them? Certainly, beans are not the proper measure to associate with reputation since you gain beans for anything but UbuntuForums could implement a differentiated system where users "like" one answer if solved they problem. Do you think it would be a good idea? PS: Amazing Askubuntu and reputation are tags not created yet!

  I have a serious problem. I Installed Ubuntu 13.04 on my Laptop. I format all partitions (Windows)/(Erase all data and Install Ubuntu):( . How do I recover my accidentally lost Windows partitions after installing Ubuntu?. I try using PartitionWizard and Testdisk. But cannot recovery partition, Partitionwozard and Testdisk only detected the linux partition (Linux/Ext4 and Linux/Swap). I hope the answer. Please help. and Sorry for my English is not good.   hello all i had ubuntu on my desktop but i had lots of problems with it so i turned back to windows... now im having the biggest problem ever :S all my dad was in a folder that i created on ubuntu OS and i copied em to another HDD and then i removed it and putted my HDD and removed all the partitions and made the windows parttions once i copied those folders back to my HDD ( using windows 7 ) i found those folders size 0KB when i try to open them i get error.. pleaaase tell me what to do.. i was using my /home partition as ext4.. waiting for answer :(

I had intended on using Pagodabox for my hosting needs, however I now realize that they don't have servers outside of the US. So I'm just looking for some advice or recommendations?   It occurred to me today that it might be useful to make a list of all the ways to earn money through either actual programming or just programming knowledge. I imagine it's probably a finite list as long as you stick to a reasonable level of granularity. Here's what I have so far: Trading your time for money (i.e. having a job or being a freelancer) Building your own software product (a full-fledged startup or a tiny mobile app or whatever) Giving talks at conferences and meetups Teaching students in a classroom Writing a book or blog (these are products, but non-software products) I've probably missed at least a few. What else is there? (I'm not sure whether this is an appropriate question, by the way. I think I would select the best answer based on how practical/original/interesting/numerous your suggestions are.)

• Issue with div image size [migrated]

  I hope this helps explain the issue I am having I have recently designed a horizontal scrolling portfolio for a client, the rights and wrongs of horizontal web design, is a sligtly seperate topic but alas the client wanted something different. Im having a real issue with the bottom div though As the monitor size is reduced its creating the browser scroll bar down the side as the div image is overlapping the monitor size. Wouldnt be such a huge issue but because of the nature of the horizontal site its producing a diagional scrolling effect. Is there away to prevent the screen expanding from the actual monitor size using css or anyother solution? I'm probably staring at the answer as I type but brain doesnt seem to be working unfortunately.

The top comment divides the answer into two parts, the basic level/design level ,not purely coding(something like this...). Then another level : writing application(all about programming).
