  • org.apache.http.impl.cookie.BasicClientCookie not serializable???

    - by Misha Koshelev
Dear All: I am quite confused... I am reading here and BasicClientCookie clearly implements Serializable per JavaDoc: http://hc.apache.org/httpcomponents-client/httpclient/apidocs/org/apache/http/impl/cookie/BasicClientCookie.html However, my simple Groovy script: #!/usr/bin/env groovy @Grapes( @Grab(group='org.apache.httpcomponents', module='httpclient', version='4.0.1') ) import org.apache.http.impl.cookie.BasicClientCookie import java.io.File def cookie=new BasicClientCookie("name","value") println cookie instanceof Serializable def f=new File("/tmp/test") f.withObjectOutputStream() { oos-> oos.writeObject(cookie) } outputs: false Caught: java.io.NotSerializableException: org.apache.http.impl.cookie.BasicClientCookie at t$_run_closure1.doCall(t.groovy:12) at t.run(t.groovy:11) I have checked and I have no other versions of HttpClient anywhere in classpath (if I take Grapes statement out it cannot find file). Thank you! Misha Koshelev

  • difference in logging mechanism: API and application(python)

    - by zubin71
I am currently writing an API and an application which uses the API. I have gotten suggestions from people stating that I should perform logging using handlers in the application and use a "logger" object for logging from the API. In light of the advice I received above, is the following implementation correct? class test: def __init__(self, verbose): self.logger = logging.getLogger("test") self.logger.setLevel(verbose) def do_something(self): # do something self.logger.log("something") # by doing this i get the error message "No handlers could be found for logger "test" The implementation i had in mind was as follows: #!/usr/bin/python """ .... .... create a logger with a handler .... .... """ myobject = test() try: myobject.do_something() except SomeError: logger.log("cant do something") Id like to get my basics strong, id be grateful for any help and suggestions for code you might recommend I look up. Thnkx!

  • [BUG] Bus Error - What causes this in Ruby?

    - by viatropos
I have run into this error 5 or 10 times over the past few years and have never found a clear answer to this problem. Here is the error: $ rake db:migrate /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/libxml-ruby-0.9.5/lib/libxml_ruby.bundle: [BUG] Bus Error ruby 1.8.7 (2009-06-12 patchlevel 174) [i686-darwin9.7.0] Abort trap The app I am running this in is using RMagick. I have run into this problem when installing ImageMagick a while ago, and when installing Nokogiri, and when installing MySQL. For Nokogiri it was because I needed a more recent version of libxml. What are your thoughts on this? Any fixes? How can I check the version of RMagick the project is loading? I am on a Mac, 10.5.8. Thanks for the help, Lance

  • module compiled with swig not found by python

    - by openbas
Hello, I've a problem with SWIG and python. I've a c-class that compiles correctly, but the python script says it can't find the module. I compile with: swig -c++ -python codes/codes.i g++ -c -Wall -O4 -fPIC -pedantic codes/*.cc g++ -I/usr/include/python2.6 -shared codes/codes_wrap.cxx *.o -o _codes.so This gives me a _codes.so file, as I would expect, but then I have this python file: import sys import codes (rest of the code omitted) It gives me: Traceback (most recent call last): File "script.py", line 3, in <module> import codes ImportError: No module named codes According to http://www.swig.org/Doc1.3/Introduction.html#Introduction_nn8 this is all I should have to do... The files are in the same directory, so the path should not be a problem ?

  • Learning resources for Linux filesystem, command line, and structure

    - by webworm
Can anyone suggest some good materials for learning more about the Linux filesystem and command line? I have found myself frequently confused as to what programs go where on the Linux filesystem. I would like to learn how the various directories (var, etc, usr ...) are used and how to use the commandline more effectively. I come from the Windows development world (.NET developer) so I am very familiar with Windows system administration. However, when doing more and more work with PHP I found myself lost in the internals of Linux (specifically Ubuntu). For example I was having problems installing PEAR properly on my Ubuntu system and not understanding why it was installed where it was. All of my interactions with Linux machines is done via SSH so I would like to focus on the command line and the filesystem. Thanks for any suggestions.

  • PHP Segmentation fault when started from crond

    - by Jeroen Moors
Hello, I've a php script that's started each minute from cron. It almost always runs without any problem, except for about 10 times within 24h. The times it fails I get a segmentation fault like: bin/sh: line 1: 21815 Segmentation fault /usr/bin/myscript The number after "line 1:" is always different. I'm running: PHP 5.2.6-1+lenny8 with Suhosin-Patch 0.9.6.2 (cli) (built: Mar 14 2010 08:14:04) Is this a problem with my version of PHP? Is there a way to debug this? I have the feeling it crashes when the server load is high, but there's absolutely no prove for this. Any feedback is welcome!

  • Perl: Recursively rename all files and directories

    - by user305801
    I need to recursively rename every file and directory. I convert spaces to underscores and make all file/directory names to lowercase. How can I make the following script rename all files in one run? Currently the script needs to be run several times before all the files/directories are converted. The code is below: #!/usr/bin/perl use File::Find; $input_file_dir = $ARGV[0]; sub process_file { $clean_name=lc($_); $clean_name=~s/\s/_/g; rename($_,$clean_name); print "file/dir name: $clean_name\n"; } find(\&process_file, $input_file_dir);

  • Python subprocess.Popen

    - by Albert
I have that code: #!/usr/bin/python -u localport = 9876 import sys, re, os from subprocess import * tun = Popen(["./newtunnel", "22", str(localport)], stdout=PIPE, stderr=STDOUT) print "** Started tunnel, waiting to be ready ..." for l in tun.stdout: sys.stdout.write(l) if re.search("Waiting for connection", l): print "** Ready for SSH !" break The "./newtunnel" will not exit, it will constantly output more and more data to stdout. However, that code will not give any output and just keeps waiting in the tun.stdout. When I kill the newtunnel process externally, it flushes all the data to tun.stdout. So it seems that I can't get any data from the tun.stdout while it is still running. Why is that? How can I get the information? Note that the default bufsize for Popen is 0 (unbuffered). I can also specify bufsize=0 but that doesn't change anything.

  • Listing time every second as a Bash script

    - by Caleb
Hello all, first time here as I've finally started to learn programming. Anyway, I'm just trying to print the time in nanoseconds every second here, and I have this: #!/usr/bin/env bash while true; do date=(date +%N) ; echo $date ; sleep 1 ; done Now, that simply yields a string of date's, which isn't what I want. My learning has been rather messy, so I hope you'll excuse me for this if it's really simple. Also, I did manage to fine this, that worked on the prompt: while true ; do date +%N ; sleep 1 ; done But that obviously doesn't work as a script.

  • How to check file exists and rename in perl

    - by Disco
    I'm kinda newbie to perl and looking for a script that will handle file moving. #!/usr/bin/perl -w $filename = 'DUMBFILE'; $destination = '/some/location/'; if (-e $destination + $filename) { print "File Exists ! Renaming .."; move ('/tmp/' + $filename, $destination + $filename + '.1'); } else { move ('/tmp/' + $filename, $destination + $filename); } I'm able to rename it to 1, but i want to be renamed incrementally, like if file.1 exists, rename to .2, and .3 if .2 exists. That should be easy to do, but i'm kinda lost ..

  • Loop over a file and write the next line if a condition is met

    - by 111078384259264152964
Having a hard time fixing this or finding any good hints about it. I'm trying to loop over one file, modify each line slightly, and then loop over a different file. If the line in the second file starts with the line from the first then the following line in the second file should be written to a third file. !/usr/bin/env python with open('ids.txt', 'rU') as f: with open('seqres.txt', 'rU') as g: for id in f: id=id.lower()[0:4]+'_'+id[4] with open(id + '.fasta', 'w') as h: for line in g: if line.startswith(''+ id): h.write(g.next()) All the correct files appear, but they are empty. Yes, I am sure the if has true cases. :-) "seqres.txt" has lines with an ID number in a certain format, each followed by a line with data. The "ids.txt" has lines with the ID numbers of interest in a different format. I want each line of data with an interesting ID number in its own file. Thanks a million to anyone with a little advice!

  • Completing install of ruby 1.9.3 with Ruby for for Mac OS X 10.7.5 Leopard, Xcode 4.5.2 -- problems with rvm pkg install openssl

    - by user1848361
First, many thanks in advance for any help. I'm a complete novice with programming and I'm trying to get started with this Ruby on Rails tutorial (http://ruby.railstutorial.org/ruby-on-rails-tutorial-book?version=3.2) I have been trying figure this out for about 7 hours now and since I don't have any hair left to pull out I'm turning to these hallowed pages. I have searched for solutions here again and again. System: Mac OS X 10.7.5 Leopard, Xcode 4.5.2 I installed homebrew and have updated it multiple times I used homebrew to install rvm and have updated it multiple times I installed git The standard ruby on the system (checking with $ ruby -v) is 1.8.7 My problem is that every time I try to use rvm to install a new version of Ruby ($ rvm install 1.9.3) I get the following error: Ruby (and needed base gems) for your selection will be installed shortly. Before it happens, please read and execute the instructions below. Please use a separate terminal to execute any additional commands. Notes for Mac OS X 10.7.5, Xcode 4.5.2. For JRuby: Install the JDK. See http://developer.apple.com/java/download/ # Current Java version "1.6.0_26" For IronRuby: Install Mono >= 2.6 For Ruby 1.9.3: Install libksba # If using Homebrew, 'brew install libksba' For Opal: Install Nodejs with NPM. See http://nodejs.org/download/ To use an RVM installed Ruby as default, instead of the system ruby: rvm install 1.8.7 # installs patch 357: closest supported version rvm system ; rvm gemset export system.gems ; rvm 1.8.7 ; rvm gemset import system.gems # migrate your gems rvm alias create default 1.8.7 And reopen your terminal windows. Xcode and gcc: : I have performed $ brew install libksba and when I try to do it again it tells me that libksba is installed already. When I type "$ rvm requirements" I get: Notes for Mac OS X 10.7.5, Xcode 4.5.2. Xcode and gcc: Right now Ruby requires gcc to compile, but Xcode 4.2 and later no longer ship with gcc. Instead they ship with llvm-gcc (to which gcc is a symlink) and clang, neither of which are supported for building Ruby. Xcode 4.1 was the last version to ship gcc, which was /usr/bin/gcc-4.2. Xcode 4.1 and earlier: - Ruby will build fine. Xcode 4.2 and later (including Command Line Tools for Xcode): - If you have gcc-4.2 (and friends) from an earlier Xcode version, Ruby will build fine. - If you don't have gcc-4.2, you have two options to get it: * Install apple-gcc42 from Homebrew * Install osx-gcc-installer Homebrew: If you are using Homebrew, you can install the apple-gcc42 and required libraries from homebrew/dupes: brew update brew tap homebrew/dupes brew install autoconf automake apple-gcc42 rvm pkg install openssl Xcode 4.2+ install or/and Command Line Tools for Xcode is required to provide make and other tools. osx-gcc-installer: If you don't use Homebrew, you can download and install osx-gcc-installer: https://github.com/kennethreitz/osx-gcc-installer. Warning: Installing osx-gcc-installer on top of a recent Xcode is known to cause problems, so you must uninstall Xcode before installing osx-gcc-installer. Afterwards you may install Xcode 4.2+ or Command Line Tools for Xcode if you desire. ** NOTE: Currently, Node.js is having issues building with osx-gcc-installer. The only fix is to install Xcode over osx-gcc-installer. So I assume I have to do something with brew update brew tap homebrew/dupes brew install autoconf automake apple-gcc42 rvm pkg install openssl Everything seemed to work fine until "$ rvm pkg install openssl", which returns: Fetching openssl-1.0.1c.tar.gz to /Users/thierinvestmentservices/.rvm/archives Extracting openssl to /Users/thierinvestmentservices/.rvm/src/openssl-1.0.1c Configuring openssl in /Users/thierinvestmentservices/.rvm/src/openssl-1.0.1c. • Fibonacci sequence subroutine returning one digit too high...PERL

However, it's one too high. Does this have something to do with the recursion? Thanks.

  • Where is the default language data stored in OS 10.6

    - by George Baugh
From a shell in 10.4 or 10.5, I was able to do this: /usr/bin/defaults read NSGlobalDomain AppleLanguages To get the list of the language preference for that particular machine. This was done so that I could restore it back to that list after changing it with the 'defaults write' command to something else (in order to help automate l10n testing). Now, along comes OS 10.6, and AppleLanguages is nowhere in any of our defaults domains. I know that I can alter it for each running application by altering their specific property lists...but at the cost of more complexity. Also, some of the apps I have under test here are installer packages...and It's a real pain to change stuff (like the .plist I'd have to change here) in those without being somewhat destructive; that's why I chose to do it globally in the first place. Anyways, it'd be great if I could find where they stashed it now...or if they deprecated it (like a zillion other things in OS 10.6) completely.

  • How can I send email attachment without using an additional library in Perl?

    - by CheeseConQueso
Hey, I was wondering if there is a way to attach files (specifically .csv files) to a mail message in Perl without using MIME::Lite or any other libraries. Right now, I have a 'mailer function' that works fine, but I'm not sure how to adapt it into attaching files. Here is what I have: open(MAIL, "|/usr/sbin/sendmail -t"); print MAIL "To: cheese\@yahoo.com\n"; print MAIL "From: queso\@what.com\n"; print MAIL "Subject: Attached is $filename\n\n"; print MAIL "$message"; close(MAIL); I think this is specific for UNIX.

  • Determing Python version at runtime

    - by Gekitsuu
The problem I'm having is that I've written code that depends on features in python2.6 so I'm trying to build a check that will produce a useful error if someone tries to run it on a machine with python lower than 2.6. The code I put in to check for the specific version and match it should work fine but the problem I have is the interpreter on a 2.4 machine reads the file and sees a "finally" at the end of my try loop and errors out before it gets far enough into execution for my if statement to handle the version mismatch. Other than changing the magic line to specifically look for /usr/bin/python2.6 is there a way python can handle this sort of thing?

  • How do I get the output of Win32::Process command in Perl?

  • java get file paths

    - by user283188
hey everybody, I have a jsp page which contains the code which prints all files in a given directory and their file paths. The code is if (dir.isDirectory()) { File[] dirs = dir.listFiles(); for (File f : dirs) { if (f.isDirectory() && !f.isHidden()) { File files[] = f.listFiles(); for (File d : files) { if (d.isFile() && !d.isHidden()) { System.out.println(d.getName()+ d.getParent() + (d.length()/1024)); } } } if (f.isFile() && !f.isHidden()) { System.out.println(f.getName()+ f.getParent() + (f.length()/1024)); } } } The problem is that it prints the complete file path, which when accessed from tomcat is invalid. For example, the code spits out the following path: /usr/local/tomcat/sites/web_tech/images/scores/blah.jpg and I want it to only print the path up to /images ie /images/scores/blah.jpg I know I could just mess around with an actual string, ie splitting it or string matching, but is there an easier way to do it? Thanks

  • gdb: SIGTRAP on std::string::c_str() call

    - by sheepsimulator
So I've been trying to use gdb to return the value of a string I have by calling > print <member variable name>.c_str() But everytime I do so, I get this: Program received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap. <some address> in std::string::c_str() from /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 GDB remains in the frame where the signal was received. To change this behavior use "set unwindonsignal on" Evaluation of the expression containing the function (std::string::c_str() const) will be abandoned. Two questions: Why/how is the standard library throwing SIGTRAP? I checked basic_string.h and c_str() is defined as: const _CharT* c_str() const { return _M_data(); } I don't see any SIGTRAP-throwing here... is there a way to get around this SIGTRAP? How can I read the text value of the std::string out (without getting some crazy extension library) in gdb?

  • How to auto-restart a python script on fail?

    - by norm
This post describes how to keep a child process alive in a BASH script: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/696839/how-do-i-write-a-bash-script-to-restart-a-process-if-it-dies This worked great for calling another BASH script. However, I tried executing something similar where the child process is a Python script: #!/bin/bash PYTHON=/usr/bin/python2.6 function myprocess { $PYTHON daemon.py start } NOW=$(date +"%b-%d-%y") until myprocess; do echo "$NOW Prog crashed. Restarting..." >> error.txt sleep 1 done Now the behaviour is completely different. It seems the python script is no longer a child of of the bash script but seems to have 'taken over' the BASH scripts PID - so there is no longer a BASH wrapper round the called script...why?

  • List available languages for PyGTK UI strings

    - by detly
I'm cleaning up some localisation and translation settings in our PyGTK application. The app is only intended to be used under GNU/Linux systems. One of the features we want is for users to select the language used for the applications (some prefer their native language, some prefer English for consistency, some like French because it sounds romantic, etc). For this to work, I need to actually show a combo box with the various languages available. How can I get this list? In fact, I need a list of pairs of the language code ("en", "ru", etc) and the language name in the native language ("English (US)", "???????"). If I had to implement a brute force method, I'd do something like: look in the system locale dir (eg. "/usr/share/locale") for all language code dirs (eg. "en/") containing the relative path "LC_MESSAGES/OurAppName.mo". Is there a more programmatic way?
