• Change the order of DNS lookup when connected in the VPN

  Hi, Using Windows 7 Pro here. I have my LAN network adapter with DNS server 8.8.8.8 (Google's DNS). I also have OpenVPN client to connect to my company's network. If I type "nslookup" while disconnected from the VPN, I get 8.8.8.8 (from my LAN network adapter). If I type "nslookup" while connected in the VPN, I get the DNS IP from my company's network. That makes me think that when connected to the VPN all DNS's resolution are routed first to my company's DNS. How can I change this order, and make the DNS resolution be routed to 8.8.8.8 first, when I'm connected to the VPN? Thank you

• Changing Firefox Tab Cycle Order

  When you use Ctrl-Tab in Firefox, you move through tabs in the order that they are listed in the tab bar at the top of the window. I would prefer that when I use Ctrl-Tab the next tab that I switch to is the most resently used tab. That way if I have two tabs I am using frequently I can easily switch between them without having to manually modify the ordering of the tabs via drag/drop. This is a feature that Opera has which I find to be very productive. Does anyone know of a setting or plug-in that will accomplish this for me?

• Java: attributes order in .jsp getting inversed

  Every single time I've read about the meta tags, the attribute where in this order for the description: <meta name="description" content="..." /> First name, then content. It's also like that in the Google Webmaster documentation. Basically, it's like that everywhere. Now in a .jsp (in XML notation) I've got the following: <meta name="description" content="${metadesc}"/> So it's name first, then content. Yet on the generated webpage, I get this: <meta content="...(200 chars or so here making it a very long line)..." name="description"/> Somehow the attributes have been inversed. Because the content follows the official W3C and Google recommendations, the content is a bit less than 200 characters long, which makes it a major pain to "visually verify" that the name attribute is correctly there (I've got to scroll). Anyway... Why are these attribute not appearing in the order defined in the .jsp? Can I force them to appear in the same order as I wrote them in my .jsp? I realize the resulting tag may be valid... But I can also imagine a lot of very creative ways to have valid tags which users would be very upset about. Does this make any sense to inverse these attributes? EDIT wow, just wow... If I invert the attributes in my .jsp (that is, writing them in the "wrong" order), then they appear as I want them to appear in the generated web page. (Tomcat 6.0.26 btw)

• VMware - Not printing in order

  I am using vmware workstation 7. Guest is Windows XP. The host OS is Windows 7. When I queue the printer with multiple documents, the printer doesn't print in order. It seems to print the smaller size in data of documents first. The printer is an HP printer. This is what I have tried so far: I have tested this on the host machine, and it works fine. I have tested this on other host machines(XP Windows7), and it works fine. I have tested other HP printers I have tested it another another guest OS Windows 7 I have tested different drivers Thanks in advance for any help on this one!

• Juniper J4350 out of order

  I have got two (2) Juniper routers J4350 that are out of order : All the interfaces are down (leds on the interfaces don't ligthen, ping dosen't respond) No output on the console port (even when booting) I've tried to reset the router (holding the RESET CONFIG button on the front panel during 15 seconds) and nothing happened, even while booting the device I've opened the router to check the fans. I've removed some dust and nothing has changed. I wanted to precise that the leds on the front panel are all on: The POWER led is green The STATUS led is red The ALARM led is on and is orange The HA (High Availablity) is on and orange as well I have found nothing on the Internet to solve this problem... • HP Proliant ML115 G5 - Boot order lost after reboot

  I have one HP Proliant ML 115 G5 (AMD) with the latest BIOS (07-06-2009) and recently I've installed an USB disk. This is a common problem on old Proliant servers. When you plug the USB disk, BIOS boot order changes and tries to boot via USB. So, I'll change the BIOS settings and make the SATA disk the default boot device. The problem is, when I need to unplug the usb disk, and plug it again later. I can't be always changing the BIOS settings... How can one solve this for ever?!?!

• "Order By" in LINQ-to-SQL Causes performance issues

  I've set out to write a method in my C# application which can return an ordered subset of names from a table containing about 2000 names starting at the 100th name and returning the next 20 names. I'm doing this so I can populate a WPF DataGrid in my UI and do some custom paging. I've been using LINQ to SQL but hit a snag with this long executing query so I'm examining the SQL the LINQ query is using (Query B below). • SQL: Order randomly when inserting objects to a table

  I have an UDF that selects top 6 objects from a table (with a union - code below) and inserts it into another table. (btw SQL 2005) So I paste the UDF below and what the code does is: selects objects for a specific city and add a level to those (from table Europe) union that selection with a selection from the same table for objects that are from the same country and add a level to those From the union, selection is made to get top 6 objects, order by level, so the objects from the same city will be first, and if there aren't any available, then objects from the same country will be returned from the selection. And my problem is, that I want to make a random selection to get random objects from table Europe, but because I insert the result of my selection into a table, I can't use order by newid() or rand() function because they are time-dependent, so I get the following errors: Invalid use of side-effecting or time-dependent operator in 'newid' within a function. I also have some software that needs certain files so I need to prepare them (via batch file). I have done a quick research however I haven't found the answer. Any help, link would be appreciated.   i am still have troubles mastering sshd - when I login with -v I see that ssh is authenticating the following way debug1: Authentications that can continue: publickey,gssapi-with-mic,password,hostbased I would like to change the order ... any idea how ? My bigger problem is that user with locked accounts, can still login via public-keys. I have found that I could add the user to a group "ssh-locked" add deny that group from sshing, but I am still wondering if there is a way to tell ssh'd : Please check password before keys ...   For me the Windows 8 Start Screen is just a great bit version of the old Start Menu, but unlike the Start Menu, it doesn't seem to order programs by frequency of use? Consider the following: While I DO use Chrome, Steam, and iTunes a lot. I've never ran Adobe Media Encoder, nor Adobe Extension Manager, nor Acrobat Distiller, or indeed most of the things on that list! Or there a way to change sorting to most frequently clicked on? Or perhaps even create FOLDERS in which to group items (e.g. "Adobe Apps" or "Games" or "Microsoft Office"?). Dragging them one at a time takes an age!

• Requiring mulitple group membership in order to access folder

  How would I go about creating a file or folder that requires a user to be a member of two or more different groups in order to read/write to the folder? For example, say I run an auto repair shop, and I have a folder called "Repair History" and I only want people to access it if they are members of BOTH the "Mechanics" and "Cashiers" group? This would be an AND requirment instead of an OR requirement which seems to be the norm. I know we can create a separate group that is needed to access the folder, but this is more of an academic question, since it pertains to a different security structure that we are creating. I'm not sure if MS security handles it, but I'm wondering how it would be done either way.

  I have the following text from an academic course I took a while ago about in-order traversal (they also call it pancaking) of a binary tree (not BST): In-order tree traversal Draw a line around the outside of the tree. Start to the left of the root, and go around the outside of the tree, to end up to the right of the root. Stay as close to the tree as possible, but do not cross the tree. (Think of the tree — its branches and nodes — as a solid barrier.) The order of the nodes is the order in which this line passes underneath them. If you are unsure as to when you go “underneath” a node, remember that a node “to the left” always comes first. Here's the example used (slightly different tree from below) However when I do a search on google, I get a conflicting definition. For example the wikipedia example: Inorder traversal sequence: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I (leftchild,rootnode,right node) But according to (my understanding of) definition #1, this should be A, B, D, C, E, F, G, I, H Can anyone clarify which definition is correct? They might be both describing different traversal methods, but happen to be using the same name. I'm having trouble believing the peer-reviewed academic text is wrong, but can't be certain.

• Hotkey to switch between windows in taskbar order in Windows 7

  Is there a hotkey to cycle through open windows in the order that they appear on the taskbar. This should switch windows without additional keypresses. I know of win+T. This shortcut puts focus on the first taskbar icon and allows you to select and display a window with up/down/enter. I would ideally like something like Ctrl+Win+Down to immediately switch to the next window. If not, then is there any way to enable this behaviour on a completely locked down PC where I cannot install software, run executables or edit the registry?

  I have written some code to update certain rows of a table with a decreasing sequence of numbers. To select the correct rows I have to JOIN two tables. The last row in the table needs to have a value of 0, the second last -1 and so on. To achieve this I use ORDER BY DESC. Unfortunately my code brings up the following error: Incorrect usage of UPDATE and ORDER BY My reading suggests that I can't use UPDATE, JOIN and ORDER BY together. I've read that maybe subqueries might help? I don't really have any idea how to change my code to do this.   I am having an issue adding posts to LiveJournal via the xmlrpc api they provide. I want to add entries older than what I have listed on LiveJournal already. But I get a response saying: "You have an entry which was posted at 2009-09-06 18:32, but you're trying to post an entry before this. Please check the date and time of both entries. If the other entry is set in the future on purpose, edit that entry to use the "Date Out of Order" option. Otherwise, use the "Date Out of Order" option for this entry instead." I haven't found an argument for the "Date Out of Order" option using the LJ.XMLRPC.postevent method. Any help would be highly appreciated.

• index help for a MySQL query using greater-than operator and ORDER BY

  I have a table with at least a couple million rows and a schema of all integers that looks roughly like this: start stop first_user_id second_user_id The rows get pulled using the following queries: SELECT * FROM tbl_name WHERE stop >= M AND first_user_id=N AND second_user_id=N ORDER BY start ASC SELECT * FROM tbl_name WHERE stop >= M AND first_user_id=N ORDER BY start ASC I cannot figure out the best indexes to speed up these queries. The problem seems to be the ORDER BY because when I take that out the queries are fast. I've tried all different types of indexes using the standard index format: ALTER TABLE tbl_name ADD INDEX index_name (index_col_1,index_col_2,...) And none of them seem to speed up the queries. Does anyone have any idea what index would work? Also, should I be trying a different type of index? I can't guarantee the uniqueness of each row so I've avoided UNIQUE indexes. Any guidance/help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  As the title states, I'm looking for a way to control the order in which the items dock to the top of my control. I've played with the windows form designer, and i cant seem to find what the RightClick->Order->SendToFront is doing, because thats exactly what I want to happen. As far as I can get to happen, as I add my contents to my control, the newest contents is always at the top, and I'd like for the Newer contents to be on the bottom, and the oldest contents to be at the top. Summery: Is there an easy way in WinForms (C#), to control the order in which things dock to the sides of controls?
