• FB login and privacy policy

  I'm bulding up a site, where the ONLY ONE method for log in, is the fb login button. Now i'm wondering if i need to make users check and read the my own site's privacy and policy before and accept that is some way, is this needed? The site is for text/pourpouse sharing, and you can only interact with the site after you are logged/registered, althought you can only navigate lists of users and pourpouses. thanks

• Why Mac OS X is referred to as the developer's OS? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Why do programmers use or recommend Mac OS X? I have heard people referring to Mac OS X as the 'developer's operating system' and I was wondering why? I have been using Mac OS X for years but I only see Mac OS X as a developer's OS if the developer tools are installed, without them it's not really a developer's OS. Also, the Terminal is obviously a huge plus for developers but is this it?

I already have a small background in Ruby and don't really need a book that covers both, as I ordered the Pickaxe Book a couple days ago. I recently read some of Beginning Ruby on Rails-Steven Holzner, but abandoned that after seeing multiple statements on SO about how terrible the code in it was, and also the fact that it used Rails 1...Just wondering, what is the best book for an ABSOLUTE BEGINNER in Rails?

  Having written a number of bots, and seen the massive amounts of random bots that happen to crawl a site, I am wondering if the goal of the site allowing bots is for the potential for the bot to send real traffic back to the site if there is any reason to allow bots that are not known to be sending real traffic back, and how to spot these "good" bots; based on how they ID themselves, IPs they come from, behaviors, etc.

I've heard good things about TeamViewer and Fog Creek Copilot, but I'm wondering if the included GNOME Vinaigre VNC client is good enough for this.   Hello. I'm diving into RoR and I see that the current version of Rails (3.0.5) works with both 1.8.7 and 1.9.2. Currently, I have both versions of Ruby installed using RVM, but I'm wondering which version I should be using as I dive into Rails and start developing apps. I suppose I'd prefer to use the newest version (1.9.2), but I don't know the technologies well enough to know pros/cons of using either. Thanks so much!

  I am trying to package a program I wrote that depends on Django 1.4.1 in Ubuntu 12.04. As Django 1.4.1 isn't available in Precise I am wondering if it is best to: Package up Django 1.4.1 and drop it in my ppa OR write a script that wgets Django at build time and installs.   I have not see these links explicitly stated in the Agile literature I have read. So, I was wondering if this approach was correct: Let a story be defined as "In order to [RESULT], [ROLE] needs to [ACTION]" then RESULT generates system tests. ROLE generates acceptance tests. ACTION generates component and unit tests. Where the definitions are the ones used in xUnit Patterns which to be fair are fairly standard. Is this a correct interpretation or did I misunderstand something?

  I've been reading some literature on security, specifically password security/encryption, and there's been one thing that I've been wondering: is the 3-strike rule a perfect solution to password security? That is, if the number of password attempts is limited to some small number, after which all authentication requests will not be honored, will that not protect users from intrusion? I realize gaining access or control over something doesn't always mean going through the authentication system, but doesn't this feature make dictionary/brute-force attacks obsolete? Is there something I'm missing?

But when it comes to database tables or columns, I have never seen anyone setting some comments, and, to be honest, I don't even think of looking for comments there.   I'm currently taking a Data Structures course that involves the development of C++ applications using microsoft visual studio express c++, an application called Cinder, and we turn in assignments via GitHub. I know Mac users in the class use X code to develop to our needs although some small issues arise with compilation that needs some debug work to be done.
