  Are there any good database abstraction layers/object relational mappers/ActiveRecord implementations/whatever they are called for Android? I'm aware that db4o is officially supported, but it has quite a large footprint and I'd rather use a more conventional database (SQLite).

  Hi, I'd like to know how people decide whether to define a method as static. I'm aware that a method can only be defined as static if it doesn't require access to instance fields. So lets say we have a method that does not access instance fields, do you always define such a method as static, or only if you need to call it statically (without a reference to an instance). Perhaps another way of asking the same question, is whether you use static or non-static as the default? Thanks, Don

• MySQL Date_Format based on today's date and another column?

  I am aware of the MySQL Date_Format function but am looking to achieve the following: I have on column with a day date in 2 digit format (01-30). I am trying to update another date formatted field with the current year, the next month (m+1) and the day field mentioned previously. In PHP i would do this using mktime function but this must be done using mysql calls only. Is it possible to transform in this way?

• Changing UI color in Eclipse

  I'm aware of this topic: I've used it to change most of the editor colors, and that's great. But that wasn't enought, there's still too much white (and I need to change it because it hurts my eyes). I've searched in the preferences (both using Eclipse itself and editing the files) for instances of while (255,255,255) and changed them all. • Can the current date be inserted into output through XSLT v1.0

  I have an incoming data stream that is being converted with XSLT v1.0 that incoming data does not contain any date information. what i would like, is a nice way of getting the current date to become part of the resulting output stream. I am aware of the 2.0 current-date() type functions - unfortunately those are not available to this environment... any thoughts/hacks/alternatives? tia

  I'm aware of timing issues in Javascript, how its not exact/off by milliseconds etc, but I need something to at least attempt to do browser-based scheduling.   Hi fellas, A) Are there any FOSS programs out there that can manage to hashchange all files in a directory tree? B) Failing that, what methods could be used to develop this capability in a (crappy) self-written program without requiring the program to be sophisticated and content-aware? Is there any (roughly) universally safe location within a file (for example, around EOF?) where on could one simply append/add psuedorandom data so the resulting hash is different?   When I try to create an object of Graphics, why doesn't the following work? System.Drawing.Graphics graphicsObj = new System.Drawing.Graphics(); (I am aware that I could create a private System.Windows.Forms.Panel Obj; and then do CreateGraphics() if I wanted it to work) I tried to find a custom constructor for Graphics, but I couldn't find one. Where did Microsoft define it, or how did it block it?

• Restoring and passing data to an already running instance of a .NET application

  The goal is to have an application that runs in the system tray and can either accept user input from its actual GUI (which isn't the actual issue) OR accept command line parameters (that would actually be done via a context menu in windows explorer). Now, while I'm aware that the command line parameters are not exactly possible once the application has started, I need a way to pass data to the already running application instance via some form of handler. I'm thinking maybe define and raise some sort of event? Thanks in advance.

Sometimes dirty problems call for dirty solutions though :) So does anyone know of a css selector hack that works for recent safari versions but is not a general webkit hack ? My site behaves properly in chrome but has a bug in safari. So if anyone knows how i can select an element to only have a certain style in safari let me know!
