• How change Subversion's default binary mime-type?

  Subversion sets a binary file's svn:mime-type property to application/octet-stream by default. I need to change this default to some other mime-type. When I import for the first time this code, I would like Subversion to set mime-type to the one I choose. The reason is that my code base contains code in binary files (proprietary format), and I have the applications necessary to emulate diff and diff3 for these. But Subversion does not let me due to their default mime-type. Please note: There is no default extension (*.jar, *.py, etc) for these code files. Some files don't even have an extension. So configuring mime-type by file extension is not possible.

  I've reading this question, and I was wondering if Is there any way to consider the whole range of characters? For example, "á", "é", "ö", "ñ", and not consider " " (the [Space])?   Hello, Do I need to do something different in an abstract class to get dependency injection working with Ninject? I have a base controller with the following code: public abstract class BaseController : Controller { public IAccountRepository AccountRepository { get; set; } } My module looks like this: public class WebDependencyModule : NinjectModule { public override void Load() { Bind<IAccountRepository>().To<AccountRepository>(); } } And this is my Global.asax: protected override void OnApplicationStarted() { Kernel.Load(new WebDependencyModule()); } protected override IKernel CreateKernel() { return new StandardKernel(); } It works when I decorate the IAccountRepository property with the [Inject] attribute.   Messing about a bit, i have a working Adobe After Effects plugin with a bit of Obj-c / Cocoa in it (NSArray and custom objects - not ui stuff). The SDK guide states:- Always use After Effects memory allocation functions. In low-memory conditions (such as during RAM preview), it’s very important that plug-ins not compete with After Effects for OS memory, and deal gracefully with out-of-memory conditions. Failing to use our functions can cause lock-ups, crashes, and tech support calls. Don’t do that. If you’re wrapping existing C++ code, overloading new and delete to use our functions will save substantial reimplementation. On Windows, derive all classes from a common base class which implements new and delete. so my question.. is something compatible with the above statement possible in Obj-c?

• ASP.NET MVC pass information from controller to view WITHOUT ViewData, ViewModel, or Session

  I have a unique scenario where I want a base controller to grab some data and store it in a list. The list should be accessible from my views just as ViewData is. I will be using this list on every page and would like a cleaner solution than just shoving it in the ViewDataDictionary. After attempting to come up with a solution, I thought I would create a custom ViewPage with a property to hold my list. My custom ViewPage would inherit from System.Web.MVC.ViewPage. However, I do not know where MVC passes the viewdata from the controller off to the view. More importantly, how do I get it to pass my list down to the view? Thanks for the help.

• [C++]Advantage of using a static member function instead of an equivalent non-static member function

  I was wondering whether there's any advantages to using a static member function when there is a non-static equivalent. Will it result in faster execution (because of not having to care about all of the member variables), or maybe less use of memory (because of not being included in all instances)? Basically, the function I'm looking at is an utility function to rotate an integer array representing pixel colours an arbitrary number of degrees around an arbitrary centre point. It is placed in my abstract Bullet base class, since only the bullets will be using it and I didn't want the overhead of calling it in some utility class. It's a bit too long and used in every single derived bullet class, making it probably not a good idea to inline. How would you suggest I define this function? As a static member function of Bullet, of a non-static member function of Bullet, or maybe not as a member of Bullet but defined outside of the class in Bullet.h? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

  Im learning JQuery from a Sitepoint Book but Im trying to apply all the lessons to a Rails App. In one lesson, we are taught how to switch to a different stylesheet if the browser window is resized beyond a certain point. Here's the javascript code: if ($('body').width() > 900) { $('<link rel="stylesheet" href="wide.css" type="text/css" />') .appendTo('head'); } else { $('link[href=wide.css]').remove(); } Rails doesn't seem to want to link to the new stylesheet using 'link rel'. I've tried using the Rails helper: <%= stylesheet_link_tag 'base', :media => 'screen' %> but that doesn't work in a .js file. How do I link to an external stylesheet in a .js file using Ruby? Can I use Ruby on Rails code in a .js file? Thanks.

• Does anyone change the Visual Studio default bracing style in C# - Is there a standard?

  I find the default bracing style a bit wasteful on line count eg... function foo() { if (...) { ... } else { ... } } would, if I was writing in JavaScript for example be written like... function foo() { if (...) { ... } else { ... } } ...which I understand may also not be to peoples' tastes. But the question(s) is/are do you turn off the VS formatting style and use your own rules? What is the opinion of this in the industry when many people are working on the same code-base? Is it better just to stick to the default just for simplicity/uniformity?

• How to change the text color in a disabled edit box using MFC?

  Hello all, I have a dialog in which the edit box is disabled but the text should be displayed in red instead of the default grey. • twitter gem not working in heroku ?

  Hello, I'm working on a ruby app that updates a twitter account using 'twitter' gem. It's working fine locally (as usual :) ). But when I deploy it on heroku it seems the gem is not properly installed or something lile that as I got the following error: NameError: uninitialized constant Twitter::OAuth My code is very simple: oauth = Twitter::OAuth.new(consumer_token, consumer_secret) oauth.authorize_from_access(access_token, access_secret) client = Twitter::Base.new(oauth) client.update("Updating my status from twitter gem. • Finding Cities within 'X' Kilometers (or Miles)

  This may or may not be clear, leave me a comment if I am off base, or you need more information. Perhaps there is a solution out there already for what I want in PHP. I am looking for a function that will add or subtract a distance from a longitude OR latitude value. Reason: I have a database with all Latitudes and Longitudes in it and want to form a query to extract all cities within X kilometers (or miles). My query would look something like this... Select * From Cities Where (Longitude > X1 and Longitude < X2) And (Latitude > Y1 and Latitude < Y2) Where X1 = Longitude - (distance) Where X2 = Longitude + (distance) Where Y1 = Latitude - (distance) Where Y2 = Latitude + (distance) I am working in PHP, with a MySql Database. • Sharing Jinja2 templates between Pylons and Django applications

  I'm writing a couple of Jinja2 templates that basically implement some common grid layouts. I'd like to be able to share this 'library' of templates between a Pylons app and Django app. I've hit a minor stumbling block in that Django's template context is accessible from the "top-level" of the template, whereas Pylons wraps your context inside the thread local c (or tmpl_context) variable. Here are some analogous examples that demonstrate this. Django from django.shortcuts import render_to_response ctx = {} ctx['name'] = 'John' return render_to_response('hello.html', ctx) hello.html: Hello {{ name }} Pylons from pylons import tmpl_context as c from myapp.lib.base import render c.name = 'John' return render('hello.html') hello.html: Hello {{ c.name }} What I'm trying to do is make it so that hello.html is the same across both frameworks. One way I see to do it is by wrapping the Django render_to_response and do something like this: ctx['c'] = ctx But that just doesn't feel right. Anybody see other alternatives to this? Thanks

  Hi, I have a class A which takes a reference of B in its constructor. class A { public: A(B& b); } And I have a class SubB which is a child class of B: class SubB : public B { //omitted... } In my code, I create a SubB and pass it to A: SubB subB; A a(subB); But I get this compile Error: error: ‘B’ is an inaccessible base of ‘SubB’ Can I pass a reference of SubB as B?   I have a folder full of XHTML files, and a console program to process them. The problem is, it doesn't work when I'm offline, because The remote name could not be resolved: 'www.w3.org' A number of sites, including this one, say to set the XmlResolver to null. That is not not working. I have tried setting the XmlResolver to null every way that I can think of: in the XmlDocument, in XmlTextReader, and in the XmlReaderSettings. I believe that it's just creating a default instance. I have also tried implementing my own XmlResolver, but I don't know what to return for external items. public class NonXmlResolver : XmlUrlResolver { public override object GetEntity( Uri absoluteUri, string role, Type ofObjectToReturn ) { if ( absoluteUri.Scheme == "http" ) throw new Exception("What you talking 'bout, Willis?"); else return base.GetEntity( absoluteUri, role, ofObjectToReturn ); } } The documents do not use any special entities, only pure XML. • Generating code for service proxies

  I'm trying to generate some additional code base on the auto-generated webservice proxies in my VS2010 solution, I'm using a T4 template to do so. The problem is, automatically generated proxies are added in "Service Reference" folder but ProjectItems (files) are hidden by default and the following code does not find them in the project structure: var sr = GetProjectItem(project, "Service References"); if(sr != null) { foreach(ProjectItem item in sr.ProjectItems) { foreach(var file in item.ProjectItems) { //Services.Add(new ServiceInfo { Name = file.Name }); } } } The above code runs and although service reference is found, and there are ProjectItems under that node (named by the webservice reference name), under object under that node is of type System.__ComObject and I'm not sure how to progress. Any help is appreciated.

  I have a Category class that is defined like this: class Catergoy < ActiveRecord::Base acts_as_tree :parent_id I'd like the ordering to be by the position value which is a float such that: category-1 category-2, parent_id=1, position=0.5 category-3, parent_id=2, category-4, parent_id=1, position=1 How would I specify this? I tried acts_as_tree :parent_id :order => :position acts_as_tree :parent_id, :order => :position but these are not working. Any ideas how to specify this relationship?   I'd like to start using a Test Driven Development system for a private project since I saw my employer using it and realized it was very useful. My employer's project was in C# but mines are in C and C++. I looked around and saw that several packages exist for both Java and .NET (for example: NCover, NUnit, ...). Unfortunately I found it difficult to find good C++ testing frameworks. Do you know of any unit testing frameworks that satisfy the following requirements? IMPORTANT: Must provide code coverage statistics, as I'd like to have some idea of how well my tests cover my code-base. Must be free Usable with C++ projects EDIT: To be clear, I know of many existing unit test frameworks. The code coverage piece is what's most important.

• Can I make DataGridView.EndEdit trigger the CellValidating event?

  I'm using a DataGridView in my WinForms application. My main objective is to make the Enter key not move to the next row in the grid. I still want the enter key to validate and end edit mode. I found this FAQ entry and subclassed DataGridView to override ProcessDialogKey(). If the key pressed is Enter, I call EndEdit(), otherwise I call base.ProcessDialogKey(). It works great, except the CellValidating event isn't fired. Currently, I'm just manually calling my validation logic before I call EndEdit, but it seems like I'm missing something. I guess I could call OnCellValidating, but then I'd be worried I'm missing some other event. What I really want is some flavour of EndEdit() that behaves just like pressing enter on the last row of a grid with adding disabled.

• Supporting more than one codebase in ANSI-C

  I am working on a project, with an associated Ansi-C code base. (let me call this the 'main' codebase). I now am confronted with a typical problem (stated below), which I believe I would be able to solve much easily if I had an object-oriented language at hand. The problem is this: I will have to start more than one codebases; i.e. I will have to start supporting a parallel codebase (even maybe more in the future). The initial codebases for all the new (i.e. parallel) codebases will initially be identical as the old (i.e. 'main') codebase. As we are talking about the 'C' language, I have till now been thinking of adding '#ifdef' statements to code, and writing the branch-spacific code inside those 'ifdef' blocks. Hoping that I made the problem clear (enough!), I would like to hear thoughts on clever patterns that would help me handle this problem elegantly in Ansi C. Cheers
