• Working with Google Webmaster Tools

  My first question is about Crawl errors in Google Webmaster Tools. Crawl errors is devided into few sections. One of them is HTTP. I assume that all broken links in HTTP was somehow found by crawler, this is not the links from sitemap. If this was found by scanning all sitemap pages for links, why it doesn't mention what was the source page, like in sitemap section with column Linked From. And what the meaning of Linked From, I thought if the name of section is sitemap, therefore all URLs should be taken from sitemap, so why there is Linked From? The second question, what is the best way to trreat searching on the site. How come the searching result page are getting indexed? Because of the fact that all searching result page are getting indexed, I have to many page in Linked From. What's the right practice? Question three: In order to improve response time in WMT, can I redirect all crawler's requests to designated free web server? Is this good practice? Question four: How should I treat Google Analytics Code (with parameters PageView, PageLoadTime), in the case user request non existing page, should I render Google code or not? Right now I use Google Analytics Code on the common template page, such that every page, also non existing page with error message contains Google Analytics Code, it seems like it has influence on WMT.

• What could have caused a large traffic drop from Google in early May?

  I have a website (www.equispot.com) that has been indexed for almost 2 years in Google. I managed to get myself on the first page (average position 6-8) on Google for my target keyword of "horses for sale" and held there pretty solidly for months. Suddenly, with no changes to the site, traffic from Google dropped like a rock in early May. I slowly fell in position until now I'm sitting at the bottom of page 4. I have never hired an SEO firm, have not used any "black hat" techniques that Google would have penalized me for in their May update, etc. I'm not familiar enough with SEO to know how to look at link profiles, etc. to tell if there's something wrong. I've run my site through a DNS checker and it came back with no errors. Google Webmaster Tools shows no messages or notices of any kind, just a drop in traffic. GWT also shows only 2 server errors and 1 404. Is there anyone who can tell me by quickly checking my domain if there's an obvious reason that my traffic would have fallen so far, something that I can fix?

• Good podcasting solution?

  I simply ask for the best, most common and simple way to set up a podcast? Please, I need an answer so I can close this question? I run a joomla-based website for a small church and now need a simple, cheap and effective solution for an audio podcast. I am looking for a solution that will do the following: User uploads audio files to service (preferably not to our own site) that is cheap, fast and simple to use. Dropbox for example? Files are easily embeddable into Joomla website articles to be played on the spot (through simple-to-use and media player). Preferably through RSS feeds (to make it easy to update every week). Files are downloadable. Files are viewable on iPhones and other smartphones. Solution can be broadcasted via iTunes. Solution doesn't need a lot of extra, new third party software. I'd rather keep it simple and familiar than have it be a complete new system but with a steep learning curve. At the moment we use vimeo to host the podcast, through video files. But we'd like to move to something simpler that doesn't involve a series of difficult steps to upload the files to the web.

Here are the requirements I've been given: The hosting service needs to either provide or allow us to add the following functionality: i. • Need some help on tomcat URL mod_rewrite or mod_jk

  I am trying to remove the context name from the url of my server. Current URL - http://www.domainname.com/MyApp/ What I need to make is to make it avaialble at - www.domainname.com/ So it is only going to host one main app and that needs to be displayed when we open www.domainname.com/ on browser. • Is there an more user friendly alternative to afraid.org for DNS subdomains?

I'm aware that you can do this using afraid.org (free) and it works well, however for "people out there" to use afraid.org is a hard thing because of its cryptic interface (not very user friendly). Example /product.aspx?id=100 to /product-name/100 All my pages indexed by search engines and the site already 6 years online. I'm planning to do 301 redirect from old pages to new one. • How does delicious.com avoid being sued for copyright infringement?

  With the recent redesign of delicious.com, they've added a much more graphical home page. The site continues to be a service for people to bookmark and share websites they come across on the web. The delicious home is now made up of images taken from those linked sites. See for yourself at http://delicious.com I would like to know what in the law allows them to do this, considering the images represent the main content of the page, and they clearly do not own copyright to those images? I know there is some leeway given to search engines where it is considered fair use to use a small portion of the content if the aim is to lead people to the originating site. Does that apply here?

• Web pages with mixed ownership photos

  I have a photo website. 15% of the photos belong to approved registered users. They agree my terms about uploading their images in my web pages. I include a photographer credit on right bottom corner. About identifying the site with google, every page contains a google+ button to MY google+ page it also contains <link href="https://plus.google.com/nnnnnnnnnn/" rel="publisher" /> I need some advice in order to respect google rules about my pages containing other photographers images not to be penalized because of possible duplicated or interpreted as stolen content. My concern is also about adding G+ links (to MY photo page) and Google publisher id would harm my site rank because of pages containing third-party photos.

• Chinese bots in my forum

  I have a small community forum that doesn't really get posts or any real traffic. The only thing that happens on the regular is bots with Chinese IPs signing up gibberish usernames. Most bots don't make it past the captcha but some do. I try to stay on top of this by banning IPs and ranges of IPs but it doesn't really seem to help. The bots never post anything so what are they doing? Should I be worried? Should I keep banning IPs or is it futile?

• 301 redirect from HTTP to HTTPS - how to be sure Google is fetching the correct information?

  I'm hoping somebody might be able to provide a bit of advice on an issue I am having. I have one site where we implemented a 301 redirect on the homepage from HTTP to HTTPS. We have links on the homepage to other parts of the site that are not under SSL (in fact there is only one other page under SSL). When I go to our Webmaster Tools account I notice that we are not being provided with any webmaster information (e.g., search queries, backlinks, etc...) related to our homepage under SSL. I've checked .htaccess - it's not there I've checked cPanel in redirects section - it's not there In WordPress, I have the redirection plugin active and it's not there either Is there anywhere else that could be issuing redirects?   We have a website that has two URLs (one for the US side and another for the Canadian side which is then broken into Canadian English and Canadian French). For the purposes of my question, I will write as: www.us_url.com (US) www.canada_url.ca/ca_en/ (Canadian English) www.canada_url.ca/ca_fr/ (Canadian French) To make sure people are on the correct site, what do I do if they go to the US URL with Canadian English content (e.g. www.us_url.com/ca_en/canada.asp) but I want to make sure the URL is the Canadian one (e.g. www.canada_url.ca/ca_en/canada.asp) so it shows up properly in Google Analytics. We're using IIS 7 and classic ASP.

• In Google Analytics, how can I determine the value of a page if no goals or revenue have been determined?

  I have 4 years of data in Analytics with over 20 million pageviews for the entire site. No goals have ever been set up, and while the site is an ecommerce site, no ecommerce features in Google Analytics have ever been taken advantage of. So I have no way to determine what the actual value of a page is. I've been tasked with determining if a particular page on the site is worth keeping around. How might I use all standard data (pageviews, bounce rate, time on page, time on site, etc.) to help determine the value of this page? I really appreciate any help I can get!

  I'm using an ajax registration form plugin for my website and I'm thinking to implement also Paypal. Here is how I want to implement it : I have 3 labels ( Name, Phone, Email, ) and a " Buy " button. After the user is typing his name, phone and email they click on "Buy" and they will be redirected to the paypal payment page or if it's possible to stay on the same page. Probably, what I need to know is how to make the "Buy " only after the forms ( name, phone, email ) are validated.   Possible Duplicate: What is duplicate content and how can I avoid being penalized for it on my site? I have two domains pointing to the same site. I want both domains to co-exist, they share most of the same content, but they differ in design and they are aimed at different markets / rivaling communities.   Possible Duplicate: How should I handle search engines auto-correcting the spelling of a site's name? My domain name is radiuus.com. Since the correct spelling of the word is with one u, when I search for "radiuus" on google it thinks I'm misspelling the word, kindly lets me know, and returns results for "radius". • Huge company wants my domain name

I simply require a little advice; A very large hosted e-commerce platform emailed me a while back and basically asked me to transfer my domain name to them. They made no offer but simply said 'why not change your domain to xx - xx instaead of xxxx' Not they own all the equivalent names in .com, .org all of them apart from my .co.uk I am a registered partner of theirs and my website is a portfolio of all my themes but I also get a lot of enquires through it. I had heard rumors this company is opening an office in the UK! I'm right in thinking I shouldn't just roll over right? I've put some much effort in to SEO and building my reputation... I can't just give it up surly?

  Is there any way to learn for sure why Google penalized a specific site? I think about situation when webmaster/site administrator is aware about Google rules and is sure they aren't breaking any, but the site is penalized nevertheless. The only information you get from Google is that they processed your reconsideration request but they neither say what is the result nor what is the penalty reason if they keep the site penalized. You can try to get information on Google webmasters forum or here but most of the time these are only speculations. Considering the site administrator tried to find out what's wrong but failed, is there a source which can tell what is the problem?

• Drive By Download Issue

  I'm getting a drive by download issue reported on www.cottonsandwichquiltshop.com/catalog/index.php?manufacturers_id=19&sort=2a&filterid=61 reported from safeweb.norton.com when I scan the root url. I have dug through the entire site architecture, and code base and removed a few files that were malicious, i upgraded the site's framework and fixed the security holes (mostly sql injection concerns)..... However this one threat still exists and I can't locate it for the life of me, or find any valid research or information on removing this type of threat at the server level, mostly just a bunch of anti-virus software wanting to sell you on their ability to manage it on the client end.
