    Let's say I have an xml file which looks like this <Weapons> <Weapon> <Name>Pistol</Name> ... </Weapon> <Weapon> <Name>MachineGun</Name> ... </Weapon> </Weapons> Would it be possible to use a custom importer/writer/reader to create two files, Pistol.xnb and MachineGun.xnb which I can load individually with Content.Load()? While writing this I realized I could just import a Weapon[] list and split them up with a helper, but I'm still wondering if this is possible?

    My company is a broker in the real estate industry. As such, we send a lot of our listings to sites like Trulia.com and Zillow.com, among others. These sites direct leads to our realtors, and provide us with reports every month detailing the activity our listings have had on their site-- links back to our website, emails generated, etc. Our Marketing and Advertising departments want to take that information and enter it into a system to keep track of everything in one place, for the purpose of producing comparison reports. I cannot find any externally available product that provides this functionality. I would sincerely like to avoid writing this tool myself. Does anyone know of a tool that could do this? In short, an ideal system would: Imports Google Analytics data via API Imports real estate listing site data via CSV import / manual entry Provides comparison reports based on data Does anyone know of anything pre-made that can do this?

    Recently while working on a project to import data from an Excel worksheet using SSIS, I realized that sometimes the SSIS Package failed even though when there were no changes in the structure/schema of the Excel worksheet. I investigated it and I noticed that the SSIS Package succeeded for some set of files, but for others it failed. I found that the structure/schema of the worksheet from both these sets of Excel files were the same, the data was the only difference. How come just changing the data can make an SSIS Package fail? What actually causes this failure? What can we do to fix it?

  • How do I convert a partially transparent image into polygons?

    I'm using GLEE2D, a level editor allowing me to import images, scale them, rotate them, and position them onto layers and export the data into XML format. However, it does not tell me objects' boundaries. I can calculate them, but only given the original image's polygons. How do I get polygons of objects in a transparent image? An example object (I outlined it): How would I turn the object, knowing the scaled size of the image, into polygons? Is there an algorithm for this? I'll use OpenGL to draw them.

I know you are supposed to use objects like var character = new Object(); (If the code has errors I apologise.)But how do you make the character move using keys WASD or let the character pick up items. What I want to know is that whether you need a canvas created specially for the character, how to add attributes and use keys to move it all in code. Also it would be great if you could help me on how to import pictures to JS to use it.

  • Permissions problems with Apache / SVN

    I am installed a SVN server (v1.6) on a VPS contracted with CentOS 5, Apache 2.2 with WHM panel. I installed and configured all necessary modules and am able to create and access repositories via my web browser normally. The problem: I can not commit or import anything, always return permission errors: First error: Can not open file '/var/www/svn/test/db/txn-current-lock': Permission denied After fix the previous error: Can't open '/var/www/svn/test/db/tempfile.tmp': Permission denied And other... (and happends many others) Can't open file '/var/www/svn/test/db/txn-protorevs/0-1m.rev': Permission denied I've read and executed permissions on numerous tutorials regarding this errors, all without success. I've defined the owner as apache or nobody and different permissions for folders and files. I'm using TortoiseSVN to connect to the server. Some information that may find useful: I'm trying to perform commit through an external HTTP connection, like: svn commit http://example.com/svn/test SELinux is disabled. sestatus returns SELinux status: disabled Running the command to see the active processes of Apache, some processes are left with user/group "nobody". I tried changing the settings of Apache to not run with that user/group, but all my websites stopped working, returning this error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.   • Python install issue on Mac OS X

    I have been using the standard python that comes with OS X Lion (2.7.2) but I wanted to build a UCS-4 version to handle 4-byte unicode characters better. I had already installed pip and packages like pytz, virtualenv and virtualenvwrapper, etc., and these are installed in /Library/Python/2.7/site-packages. My $PATH is /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin. To build a new version of python on the machine (outside of any project specific virtual environments, that will come later), I followed the instructions on this article and managed to build it in /usr/local/bin. The problem is that when I launched a new bash window, I got the following virtualenvwrapper error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<string>", line 1, in <module> ImportError: No module named virtualenvwrapper.hook_loader virtualenvwrapper.sh: There was a problem running the initialization hooks. If Python could not import the module virtualenvwrapper.hook_loader, check that virtualenv has been installed for VIRTUALENVWRAPPER_PYTHON=/usr/local/bin/python and that PATH is set properly. The instructions said to move /usr/local/bin to the top of the /etc/paths file, and since then I've noticed some strange issues. I installed pip into /usr/local/bin and now I have assumed that since I'm working in /usr/local/bin, and the newly installed python's site packages is now located in /usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages, when I do pip freeze, it should be empty as nothing is installed there yet. However, pip freeze still reports things installed in the old (OS X) site-packages folder. Here's some info after the build: $ which python /usr/local/bin/python $ which pip /usr/local/bin/pip $ echo $PATH /usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin When I uninstall a python package with pip, it removes it from the old site-packages folder as expected. When I install it again, instead of installing it in /usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages, it installs it in /Library/Python/2.7/site-packages (verified by attempting to install it again and receiving Requirement already satisfied (use --upgrade to upgrade): pytz in /Library/Python/2.7/site-packages ). How is it getting that path for the old site-packages folder? Why won't it install it in the correct location for the python install it's using? I'm getting several other issues since promoting /usr/local/bin but I think if I understand this I'll be able to get somewhere. Can anyone see what's happening?   • Updating the $PATH for running an command through SSH with LDAP user account

    Hi all, I am setting up a Mac OSX 1.6 server to host Git repositories. As such we need to push commits to the server through SSH. The server has only an admin account and uses a user list from a LDAP server. Now, since it is accessing the server through a non interactive shell, git operations are not able to complete since git executables are not in the default path. As the users are network users, they do not have a local home folder. So I cannot use a ~/.bashrc and the like solution. I browsed over several articles here and there but could not get it working in a nice and clean setup. Here are the infos on the methods I gathered so far: I could update the default PATH environment to include the git executables folder. However, I could not manage to do it successfully. Updating /etc/paths didn't change anything and since it's not an interactive shell, /etc/profile and /etc/bashrc are ignored. From the ssh manpage, I read that a BASH_ENV variable can be set to get an optional script to be executed. However I cannot figure how to set it system wide on the server. If it needs to be set up on the client machine, this is not an acceptable solution. If someone has some info on how it is supposed to be done, please, by all means! I can fix this problem by creating a .bashrc with PATH correction in the system root (since all network users would start here as they do not have home). But it just feels wrong. Additionally, if we do create a home folder for an user, then the git command would fail again. I can install a third party application to set up hooks on the login and then run a script creating a home directory with the necessary path corrections. This smells like a backyard tinkering and duct tape solution. I can install a small script on the server and ForceCommand the sshd to this script on login. This script will then look for a command to execute ($SSH_ORIGINAL_COMMAND) and trigger a login shell to run this command, or just trigger a regular login shell for an interactive session.   • IIS httpTracing setting has no effect

    I'm trying to troubleshoot some performance issues we are having on a specific ASP.NET page with Microsoft's Perfecto Tool on IIS 7.5. Perfecto uses the ETW hooks build in to IIS to report on specific HTTP request, and is working quite well. However, I only want IIS to emit traces for one specific page, say "Default.aspx" in my TestApp Web Application. Following the instructions on the httpTracing man page, I should be able to add the traceUrls element to my root web.config file for TestApp. This doesn't seem to affect tracing whatsoever when I do so. For example, I've used the following settings in the web.config file and every request that hits the IIS server is sending tracing messages that are in turn picked up by Perfecto. (In the System.WebServer section) <httpTracing> <traceUrls> <add value="/Default.aspx" /> </traceUrls> </httpTracing> I then found that the applicationHost.config file on the server had an empty element. I tried removing this element, as well as the httpTracing element in the web.config. After a machine reboot, I was still getting tracing messages! My understanding is that the presense of the httpTracing element is what controlls whether ETW tracing is on or not. I ensured there was no reference to httpTracing in the machine.config, too. At a loss, I decided to remove the IIS Tracing feature with Server Manager. After a reboot, I no longer got ETW tracing. I then reinstalled IIS Tracing feature with Server Manager. As expected, the httpTracing element reappeared in the applicationhost.config file. Tracing messages began sending again for all sites and pages. I then tried to use the traceUrls element at the applicationhost.config level. This also didn't filter out and traces. I must be misunderstanting something key with how httpTracing works. There aren't many resources on the web to help me, either. Can anyone tell me if what I'm trying should work? Has anyone else had success filtering tracing message per page with traceUrls? I should note that I also tried changing with the following setting in applicationhost.config to "allow". It didn't seem to help. <section name="httpTracing" overrideModeDefault="Allow" />

    OS X's say command is useful for some tasks (such as Skype's 'notify me when a contact comes online), but it is pronouncing some names incorrectly. Is there a way to teach say to pronounce a word differently? For example, try: say "Hi, Joel Spolsky" The 'ol' sounds like 'ball' rather than 'old'. I'd like to add an exception that say "Pronounce Spolsky like this", rather than try to teach new linguistic rules. I bet there is a way since it can pronounce "iphone" as Apple wants. Update - After some research, here's what I've learned: Text-to-speech is split between turning the text to phonemes, and then the phonemes are turned into audio using a voice. Changing the voice doesn't effect the phonemes. The Speech Synthesis Manager has some functions for turning text to phonemes, and a method for registering a speech dictionary that will add new text-phoneme maps. However, Apple's speech dictionary must be in a binary form - I didn't find any plist XML. Using dtrace while running say, I found some interesting files opened in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/SpeechDictionary.framework/Resources. This is probably the speech dictionary, but they are all binary, except for Homophones, which is XML. Adding entries to Homophones does nothing - it is probably used in speech-to-text. They are also code signed by Apple - changing them may prevent some programs from working. PrefixDictionary CartNames CartLite SymbolDictionary Homophones There are ways to add text versions of application interface elements so VoiceOver works, a lot of which a developer gets for free, but there are tricky bits. The standard here appears to be to use a phonetic spelling as needed. My guesses are: say is a light layer of code on top of the Speech Synthesis Manager. It would be easy for the Apple devs to add a command line option to take the path to a speech dictionary plist for alternate phoneme mapping, but they didn't. It may be a useful open-source project to write a better say. Skype probably uses Speech Synthesis Manager directly, leaving no hooks to change the way my friend's names are pronounced, other than spelling them phonetically, which is silly. The easiest way to make a command line version of say is how JRobert suggested. The CategoryList is the source data for the Category dropdown UI element. I have an EditorTemplate that looks like this: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<ProductViewModel>" %> <%@ Import Namespace="AutoForm.Models"%> <%=Html.DropDownListFor(m => m.Category , Model.CategoryList ) %> NOTE: this EditorTemplate is strongly typed to ProductViewModel My Controller is populating CategoryList property with data from a database. I cannot get the DropDownListFor template to render a drop down list with data from CategoryList. I know CategoryList is getting populated with data in the controller because I see the data when I debug and step through the controller. Here's my error message in the browser: Server Error in '/' Application. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Thanks Tom As a followup, I noticed that ViewData.Model is null when I'm stepping through the code in the EditorTemplate. I have the EditorTemplate strongly typed to "ProductViewModel" which is also the type that's passed to the View in the controller. I'm perplexed as to why ViewData.Model is null even though it's getting populated in the controller before getting passed to the view.

I recently installed Windows 7 and VS 2008 on a new workstation. When I import the package from TFS and open it, I get the error Validation error. Parse and Import Catalog Flat File: MySSISPackage: The file name "\\shared\flatfile.txt" specified in the connection was not valid. When I open the Flat File Connection Manager Editor, there is an error stating: A valid file name must be selected I can browse to and select the file from inside the editor, but I cannot change any properties, or move away from the General tab because of this error. If I go back to my laptop (Windows XP), where the package was first created, there is no error. Both workstations are on the same domain, and I'm logging in using the same credentials. Any ideas as to why I would receive this error from one workstation and not another? UPDATE: If I take the .dtsx package from the running workstation and load it into SSIS on the server, I get the following errors when it tries to run: Error: The file name "\\shared\flatfile.txt" specified in the connection was not valid. and... Error: Connection "MySSISPackage" failed validation. and... Error: The file name property is not valid. The file name is a device or contains invalid characters. UPDATE 2: a) The Shared folder I'm trying to pull the flat file from is a Samba share on a Unix box. b) If I access the file using SSIS on any 64-bit platform (Windows 7 64-bit, Vista 64-bit, Windows Server 2008) I get the error "A valid file name must be selected." c) Accessing the file using SSIS from 32-bit environments (Windows XP 32-bit, Windows Server 2003 32-bit) there is no problem. d) If I move the file to a shared folder on a Windows server, 64-bit SSIS recognizes the file.

  • Pylibmc requiring libmemcached >= 0.32

    On Ubuntu, I installed libmemcached-dev using the following command: apt-get install libmemcached-dev Unfortunately it installs libmemcached version 0.31, and pylibmc requires that I compile with v 0.32+ to run, otherwise I get an import error. I've tried removing libmemcached-dev with apt-get --purge remove, then installing libmemcached v 0.38, then re-compiling pylibmc, but it still gives me the requires libmemcached v 0.32+ error.

    I would like to export some records from an EndNote (reference management software) library and import into a MySQL database. Does anyone have any experience with this? I've tried creating custom EndNote "output styles" containing either comma-delimited values or even SQL code, but have had mixed results, either because EndNote filters out some characters (like `) or because EndNote doesn't (or I can't work out how to make it) escape text, which might include characters like ' and ". I realize this might be a bit off-topic but any help would be appreciated.

    I'd like to roll a 2D numpy in python, except that I'd like pad the ends with zeros rather than roll the data as if its periodic. Specifically, the following code import numpy as np x = np.array([[1, 2, 3],[4, 5, 6]]) np.roll(x,1,axis=1) returns array([[3, 1, 2],[6, 4, 5]]) but what I would prefer is array([[0, 1, 2], [0, 4, 5]]) I could do this with a few awkward touchups, but I'm hoping that there's a way to do it with fast built-in commands. The example below throws a System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException on Response.Write(Html.ValidationMessageFor(n = n[index].Name)); Any ideas why thats happening? I'm accessing the same dictionary twice before, but it only throws the error on ValidationMessageFor, any thoughts?   • Why can't Android find android.graphics.OpenGLContext?

    I am trying to compile some OpenGL samples available on the net in SDK 1.5. But the import statement for android.graphics.OpenGLContext gives me an error saying the class cannot be found. Can someone please tell me where I can find this class. And if it is no longer supported by the android SDK then how do I port the samples to 1.5.
